40 years ago the future looked like this MG EX-E Concept, 1985. Revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show during a period when MG weren't making sports cars, the EX-E sparked speculation that the Austin Rover Group (who owned the MG brand) were going to enter the supercar market. Their mid-engined concept was based on the MG Metro 6R4 rally car with a 3 litre DOHC 24 valve V6 and was designed, by a team lead by Roy Axe, for production. However ARG lacked the capacity to put the EX-E on sale and a commercial case could not be made to do so, so the project was abandoned.

I’m guessing there’s more to this but I figured it would be funny if this interaction happened…
What are your thoughts?

MG ADO21, 1969. After the formation of BLMC in 1968, MG began development of a radical new sports car program designed under Harris Mann. It was to replace both MG and Triumph's range of sports cars. The principle was the same as Fiat employed with the X1/9, taking the transverse engine and transmission from a front drive model and move it to a mid-engined configuration driving the rear wheels. The ADO21 (Amalgamated Design Office project 21) would use the E-series OHC engines in 1.5, 1.75 (4 cylinder) and 2.2 litre (6 cylinder) capacities with hydrolastic suspension (see blueprint). The program was cancelled in December 1970 to make way for what became the Triumph TR7
