Can we talk about how rintaro probably swallows your engagement ring by accident?
Honestly? Okay listen… Do you think he swallows it? I think he swallows it.
Because like okay. Rintaro puts a ton of planning behind everything he does, he wants to make your engagement this massive scene out of a movie because you’re out of a movie; you swooped into his life and showed him the path he wants to be on, the one that always leads back to you.
But like. Why would everything not crumble around him each and every time he tries to work up the courage to finally pop that four word phrase?
It was supposed to be simple. It was supposed to be easy.
An engagement ring, propped on some frosting on the center of the cake, ready for you to scoop up and slip on and give him an excited yes and the world would clap and he’d get a Nobel prize or something for such an extravagant proposal.
Except. That doesn’t happen.
The first bite Rintaro takes, he shovels in his mouth nervously, and there’s a massive shock to his teeth when they clank down hard on the ring on his cake.
How he didn’t notice? How the waiter messed them up? He blames it on the waiter.
Him swallowing the ring..? Yeah no. That’s got him written all over it.
His nerves just got the best of him and sends the large diamond down his throat, eyes bulging out as he realizes. He chokes briefly, grabbing his wine and gulping it down to wash the jewelry down.
Uh oh.
“Baby?” You ask. “Something wrong?”
“…nope.”
The rest of dinner is silent, you trying desperately to make conversation and his mind going insane trying to process what to do next.
Your engagement ring, the object that completely envelops your love in a physical sense is floating in the acids of his stomach, and who knows what the next step in the plan is.
He dreads it.
The car ride is complete silence, you occasionally clearing your throat or sighing to try and strike a conversation, but Rin’s mind is on a complete other planet, trying to make a map of his next move and how to get the ring 1.) out of his body and 2.) to you.
Is he really going to give you a ring he ate? He can’t. That’s vile. But he can’t spend the money on another one, even if it is more than worth it to spend it on you, and-
“Rin,” you whisper, touching his thigh. “You just blew a red light.”
“Damn- I’m sorry,” he apologizes.
“Don’t be sorry… is everything alright?”
“Just fine.”
“Are you mad at me?”
His foot slams hard, hard on the breaks, causing commotion behind him as the wailing of car horns fills the air. “God, baby, no, of course not!”
“Then why have you been so quiet?” You ask sadly.
“I can’t tell you.” Out of embarrassment and stupidity, he thinks to himself.
You leave it at that. You go quiet again, and when he makes a move to rest his hand on your thigh, you turn away, and his whole heart sinks.
The rest of the ride home drags on. There’s no more attempts of noise, no more sighs or clearing of throats, only the roar of the engine for a few more miles until you get home. He barely gets the chance to park the car before you’re out and storming up the driveway, clearly upset with the situation. He sighs and follows you in, and you’ve hiked up the stairs to the bathroom. He winces at the slam of the door, and he’s quick to call osamu for advice.
Advice that the twin gives him around countless gawfs of unhelpful, judgmental laughter.
He tells Rintaro to calm down and stop being weird towards you- take a spoonful of laxatives mixed in with water and let the body “process” for as long as it needs to. Get you a new ring, trash the old one and mourn the loss of money after you two get engaged.
He sighs and ends the call, making his way to the upstairs bathroom where he keeps the medicine. You brush past him in a towel, refusing to acknowledge him or his presence with so much as a “hmph.”
The shower he takes alone is cold, his mind is loud and his heart is pounding and his stomach queases for more than a few reasons. How could he have messed this up so badly? It was supposed to be cute! Just flashy enough for him to flaunt you, but simple enough to not be messed up.
Yet he messed it up.
Rintaro dries himself and makes his way into the bedroom, where you’re already burrowed under the covers on your side of the bed. He throws on some form of pajama before making his way downstairs to make his laxative drink.
One tablespoon of laxative mixed with water, allow body to process for one day before repeating, let all powder dissolve before drinking- he follows every single one of the thorough instructions completely, and he starts to drink the concoction with a scowl of disgust.
The hell is this made out of?
“What’re you still doing up?” You ask, and he swallows the last of the laxative with a wince.
“Couldn’t sleep,” he confesses. Then, he sighs and turns to face you, and your face tells him everything he needs to know.
You’re still upset.
“Listen,” he begins, carding a massive hand through his hair. “About tonight. It was absolutely nothing you did. It was my fault, and my annoyance and attitude had nothing to do with you.”
“Okay,” you sigh, but there’s an unconvinced lilt in your voice.
“I wanted this to be a perfect night, I wanted it to go so well-“
“Rinnie?”
“And I’m sorry, about my silence in the restaurant,” he sniffles, big hands pressing against his face and rubbing roughly. “The chef was supposed to put it on our cakes and his little rat waiter messed it up, and-“
“Put what on our cakes?”
“YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING!” He groans in complete agony. “Your ring! Fuck! I tried so hard to make the perfect proposal, and I just wanted it to be beautiful-“
“My… my ring?”
“Uh…. Yeah?”
“My engagement ring?”
Your bottom lip wobbles, and he feels like he’s going to upchuck every bit of food he’s ever eaten.
Though that may not be the worst thing at this point.
“You wanna marry me?” You wail, collapsing to your knees in excitement. He perks up slightly, slipping of his seat to join you on the floor.
“Of course I want to marry you,” he confesses. “God, I’ve… I’ve wanted to marry you for the past three years, I got the ring perfect four months ago.” He blinks out a line of tears to mimic yours, and you cup his cheeks in your trembling palms. “But every time I tried to propose, something went wrong, and I… I didn’t know how to do it anymore. I’m sorry baby…”
“Rintaro,” you say softly, chuckling around the your quivering voice. “I never needed a big proposal. Ever. All I ever want is for you to promise me we’ll be together. And that’s more than enough.”
His face softens before he lets a hand smack his face in obliviousness, disappointed in himself that he got so lost in trying to impress you that he almost didn’t.
“Put it on me!” You squeal, holding out your hand. He turns a scarlet red and looks away.
“I uh… I can’t.”
You deflate slightly, and he gives you an embarrassed smile. “Why not?” You whimper, emotionally fried from the rollercoaster he just put you on.
“I don’t have it.”
“What!”
“I mean, technically i do,” he says, gnawing his lip. “But I… uhm… I can’t give it to you yet. I uh… I need a few days. And… a few cleaners to look at it.” He gives you a shy chuckle and his toothy grin is mixed with frightened eyes, and your own widen. “The uhm… the ring was on the cake…”
Your hands clasp over your mouth, tears immediately drying and replacing with small, choked and stifled laughter.
“You didn’t,” you manage. He nods, uncomfortable. “Did… did you eat my ring, Rintaro?”
“It wasn’t my fault! Damn waiter gave us the wrong cakes!”
“AND YOU SWALLOWED IT?”
“I WAS NERVOUS, OKAY?”
“RINTARO!”
You two clutch each other on the cold kitchen floor as you laugh, heads knocking against each other as you steal kisses from between cackles.
“I’ve got an idea,” he says once you’ve both seemed to calm down, and he quickly pops on his feet to grab the bread on the counter. With the twist tie, he takes it off the bread and makes his way back to you. “Give me your hands.”
The tie only fits around the top part of your ring finger, and you sniffle softly at how silly and sweet this whole thing is.
“We’re gonna get married,” he says between an emotional wheeze. “And we’re going to grow old together, have our nine dogs and four cats.”
“No kids?”
“Ew gross.”
“Yeah, sure, as if you don’t bend to my every whim bro.” You shift slightly to rest your back against his chest, curling against his still sitting frame. “And our kids are going to love the Miyas-“
“Because you love the Miya’s. I have nothing to do with that.”
“As if Osamu’s not going to be your best man,” you scoff. He smirks and buries his face in your hair, listening to your words weave through his brain and calming him down from the disaster of a night.
Then, he hums, “you want to take my last name?” He asks, and you give him a small swat on the leg. “What! Im just asking!”
“Of course I’m going to take your last name,” you say, turning your head up to face him. “It’s all I’ve ever wanted.”
“Yeah?” He asks breathlessly, tearing up again when you nod.
“You’re all I’ve ever wanted.”

"Love," Coriolanus sighed in relief, though it was short-lived as he ran his eyes over your body. "Love, you're bleeding."
You looked at your right arm, frowning when you saw the distinct red color dripping from the cut. “Oh.”
Coriolanus darted over to your side, removing the coat you wore to reveal the flesh wound. He placed his arm on your back and directed you to one of the few pieces of furniture in the bunker, having you sit.
“What happened?” You asked, trying to piece together what had happened outside.
One Peacekeeper stepped forward with a first-aid kit, and Coriolanus allowed him to examine your arm in more detail. He simply moved to your other side, letting you keep one of his hands in your own.
The mayor and Commanding Peacekeeper were in a whispered conversation, and from what you could determine it wasn’t going well.
“Hey!” Coriolanus spoke up, anger flashing in his eyes. “What the fuck happened out there? I thought you had the area off-limits.”
“We- we did. The rebels must have had inside information.” The mayor stammered, looking weary as he watched the Peacekeeper stitch your arm. “I do apologize, Mrs. Snow, it was-”
“Don’t talk to her. Talk to me. Tell me how you managed to let some- some shitheads into the square without a proper pat down or looking in their bags.” Coriolanus was furious at this point, not only was his beloved getting sewn together, this had derailed his entire tour to gain trust from the districts.
The mayor wasn’t keen on answering, and the Commanding Peacekeeper looked like he was about to burst into tears, leaving one of the smaller, probably new Peacekeepers spoke up.
“I saw who I think placed the bomb. Looked like one of your assistants.” The man nodded to the mayor, who felt all the color drain from his face.
Coriolanus’ gaze shot to the mayor. “How convenient. Your assistant would know just when and where my wife and I would be.”
You winced as the Peacekeeper stitching you up pulled on the final suture, covering the short line in some gauze.
“I’m sorry, ma’am.” The man apologized softly, tossing the used supplies into a small orange bin in the corner of the bunker.
“It’s alright. Thank you for the help.” You smiled, letting a sigh of relief when you felt a distinct kick in your rib. “The babies thank you, as well.”
Coriolanus swiftly turned around and took your hand, helping you up. “We’ll be leaving shortly, love.”
You didn’t give a glance in the direction of the mayor, who was now in the grasp of two Peacekeepers, tears streaming down his face as he knew what fate awaited him.
“I hope Clementine is okay,” you frowned, hoping all the children from the school were safe with their parents.
“I’m sure she is.” Coriolanus made a mental note to send a personal thank-you to the family of the young girl, with a promise to help them whenever needed.
-----
Back on the train, you watched as your OB/GYN wiped the ultrasound gel off of the wand and your bump, wanting to give you a quick examination following the day’s events.
“Are they all good?” You asked, thanking your husband as he passed you another towel.
Nodding, the OB/GYN placed the wand back in the holster on the side of the machine. “Both fetuses are doing splendid. Though, I do hope you keep the stressful situations to a minimum from now on. We want to minimize risks, as this is a rather high-risk pregnancy.”
You nodded, wanting nothing but the best outcome for you and your budding family.
Coriolanus thanked her, watching her disappear into another car.
Once you two were alone, he rose from his position next to you. “I don’t think you should continue on the tour with me. Too many risks.”
Rolling your eyes, you heaved yourself off of the couch to follow him, much to his disdain. “Coryo, I’m not made of glass. I could just as easily slip back at the apartment. I think I’m safest when I’m with you.”
Coriolanus couldn’t argue with that, and as much as he preferred you safe back in the Capitol with your friends and his cousin, he knew you would be happier with him. “Just, please try and keep yourself away from any danger. I’m increasing Peacekeepers in the rest of the Districts, and they’ll do a personal sweep of the squares before we get there.”
You hummed, soft smile coming to your face as you and Coriolanus looked out along the plains as they sped by, setting sun casting a beautiful golden light on everything. “Can you do me a favor?”
“Anything.”
You took Coriolanus’ hands and moved them to your lower back, thumbs just over your hip bones. “Can you massage my back?”
Laughing, Coriolanus began to knead the ever-present knots near your kidneys, pressing a soft kiss to your shoulder. “You only keep me around for my hands, I swear.”
“Well, they are pretty useful.”
-----
The following handful of districts were rather uneventful, the only real issues were women who wanted to give you unsolicited advice on pregnancy and motherhood.
Coriolanus had to bite his tongue each time someone said what an honor it was to be pregnant, how horrible childbirth felt, or the post-partum depression and how to avoid it.
They were all topics you two had discussed at length, having plans and even back-up plans for various outcomes. You two were well-prepared for how young you two were.
Currently, you were looking at your reflection in the mirror, silk robe covering your undergarments and most of your bump. You looked at the two dresses behind you through the mirror’s reflection, unsure of what one to wear.
The dress you were leaning towards was a beautiful dark brown, to pay homage to the forestry the district was known for. The only downside was you were unsure if you could fit into it, bump seeming to have doubled in size over the last few days.
“Oh, I can’t wait to be able to fit into my old clothing. You two are causing havoc with my wardrobe.” You whispered, not wanting to wake your husband, who was catching up on some much-needed rest.
As quietly as you could manage, you left the private car you and Coriolanus had been sleeping in, moving to a more communal car, one with phones.
You sat yourself down, dialing Tigris’ number and watching the trees grow nearer.
“Hello?” Tigris’ voice sounded muffled, and you cursed under your breath.
“Tigris, I’m so sorry. I forgot about the time difference!”
“Don’t worry, I was just about to get up anyway!” Tigris replied, a lie, but she knew better than to cause you more worry. “How is the tour? Coriolanus lock you in the train yet?”
Laughing, you twirled a piece of your hair as you spoke to her. “No, no, but I’m sure he wants to. I just think I’d go stir-crazy faster than anything if he did that. I was actually calling to see if you can help me plan something for our return to the Capitol, since it will be close to Coryo’s birthday.”
“I don’t think he’s going to want to do anything other than make sure you’re okay. Isn’t your due date not too long after coming back?”
Sighing, you jumped slightly when you felt a hand on your back, looking up and smiling when you saw the sleep still present in Coriolanus’ eyes. “Yes, but we can still do something. Listen, Ti, I gotta go. I promise I’ll call you in a few days!”
Tigris bid goodbye to you, and you placed the phone back on the receiver and watched Coriolanus pour himself a mug of coffee.
“I can’t wait to drink coffee again.” You yearned for the caffeinated beverage, mouth watering as the aroma reached your nose.
Coriolanus chuckled, taking a seat next to you. “I’ll make a buffet for you full of the foods you can’t have now. What shall we put on it, hm?”
You snorted, leaning your head on Coriolanus’ shoulder. “I’ll make a list.”
Your husband hummed in response, moving to wrap his arm around your shoulders and pull you into his side. “What are you thinking about? I can smell the smoke coming out of your ears.”
Smacking his chest, you looked at the rising sun. “Do you think we’ll be able to finish the tour before I go into labor? A lot of mothers of multiples don’t make it to full-term.”
Coriolanus was silent, the thought had been bouncing around in his mind since you two found out the tour had to be delayed until now. He wanted nothing more than to be back in the Capitol by the time his children wanted to make their debut, having completed the tour to its entirety, but he also knew the odds of not finishing the tour before you became parents.
“I think we’ll get as far as we can. I can always return once you’re discharged and home happy and healthy.”
You sighed, looking up at him. “Are you scared to become a father?”
Coriolanus looked down, meeting your gaze. “I think deep down, I’m always going to be scared of the unknown. But I also know that we’ve watched your sister’s children dozens of times growing up, and they’re still here. I think we’ll both be at wit’s end, but it’ll all be worth it.”
Somehow, he always knew what to say to calm your nerves, even if he didn’t realize it.
-----
You were more than ready to have your body back as your own, as the unusual sweltering heat in last few districts you and Coriolanus were going to visit was getting the best of you. You were all in District Nine for a few days, letting some weather pass before moving on to the next district.
Coriolanus had been keeping an eye on you like a hawk ever since you had experienced false labor pains the other day. He nearly blew a blood vessel when you froze mid-walk in the peaceful fields outside of train station.
It was as if he knew you were thinking of him, Coriolanus walked into the car with a worried look your way. “How are you feeling, love?”
“Tired. Swollen. The usual.” You mumbled, leaning back when Coriolanus began massaging your shoulders. “What time are we supposed to head to the mayor’s place?”
“Well, I’m going to be meeting him in about an hour. You, however, should rest. I can see the bags under your eyes, dove, you can’t keep pushing yourself. It’s not healthy.”
Shaking your head, you craned your neck to peer up at Coriolanus, who was looking out the train’s window. “Coryo, I could sleep for an eternity right now and still be tired. I’ll be fine, if I need to sit or leave, I will. I know my limits.”
Frowning, Coriolanus turned his head to look down at you, sigh escaping his lips. “I just,” he moved to sit next to you, hand going to your bump. “I worry about you, you know. I don’t want anything to happen.”
You could see the turmoil going on in his head, thinking of his late mother and sister. You knew he wanted to avoid history repeating itself as much as he could, wanting to make sure his children saw the light of day.
“How about this, we tour the District’s town square together, and then while you make your speech and all that, I’ll have a couple Peacekeepers escort me to the train.”
Coriolanus mused over the idea for a few moments, hand absentmindedly rubbing circles as he felt a few kicks from one of the twins. “Fine.”
-----
You walked alongside Coriolanus, looking at the buildings as the mayor talked about how he wants to update some of the more important ones. “The schools, the hospital. Our supplies, buildings, they’re in need of some updates. We hope, once you’re elected, you’ll be able to help us with increasing our profits with grain, so we can work on updating the most-needed areas.”
Coriolanus squinted his eyes as he looked at the decrepit-looking hospital, thankful you wouldn’t have to give birth in one of the districts, but back in the Capitol with proper medical equipment and medications.
Thinking the same, you instinctively wrapped a protective hand around your belly, wanting to protect the babies from whatever you could.
“Now, it’s not something we had planned, but would you two like to tour the hospital? I know it’s probably not what you see in the Captiol, but we do need some updates inside.”
Shaking his head, Coriolanus moved to wrap an arm around you. “We don’t have the time for it.”
“Oh, well, perhaps another time, then.” The mayor mumbled, finishing the tour near where Coriolanus would be making his speech.
Thanking your earlier self, you looked up at Coriolanus with tired eyes, letting out a small yawn. “I’ll see you back on the train, Coryo.”
Frown deepening, the mayor looked between the two of you. “Won’t you be staying to hear your husband’s speech, Mrs. Snow?”
“No, unfortunately.”
Coriolanus pressed a quick kiss to your lips and then one to your forehead, “I’ll be back as soon as I can. I love you.”
“I love you, too. Knock ‘em dead.” You smiled, following the Peacekeepers back to the train station.
-----
“Alright, Mrs. Snow. Are you ready for your last examination on a train?”
You laughed at the comment, and your OB/GYN squirted the ultrasound gel onto what felt like Panem’s next district. “So ready, I can’t wait to be back in the Capitol.”
Coriolanus watched in wonder as the screen lit up with the ultrasound, still in awe over the fact that he was so close to becoming a father. “Are you sure she’ll be back in the Capitol before she goes into labor?”
The doctor fiddled with the wand for a moment before looking at the man. “I can’t say with certainty, but your wife still does have four weeks before most twins are born. You’re due back in the Capitol in eight days, plenty of time.”
You watched as her facial expression grew more serious, causing your heart rate to speed. “What’s wrong?”
“Well, it looks like the fetuses are getting into position for birth, but Fetus A isn’t allowing their sibling to get proper position.”
“What does that mean?” Coriolanus asked, squeezing your hand.
Looking at you and Coriolanus, the doctor took a few measurements before wiping the gel. “They’re in a breech position. Now, they can move back into a normal birthing position before you’re due, but if they don’t, we will need to go a C-section.”
Frowning, you pulled the shirt you were wearing over your stomach, sitting up with Coriolanus’ help. “Is it safe for them to be that way?”
Nodding, the OB/GYN turned off the computer. “For a little while longer, it’s fine. I want you to call me if anything feels different or if there’s less movement than normal. Now, you’ll start to feel dizzy more frequently, so you need to be sure to hydrate plenty and rest.”
She sent a look towards Coriolanus. “I wish you the best of luck with the rest of the tour, you have my vote, Coriolanus.”
Thanking her, Coriolanus chewed on his lip as he helped you off the makeshift exam table and out of the medical car, back to your private one.
“I really don’t want to have surgery, Coryo.” You mumbled, tears welling in your eyes.
“Hey, hey, it’s alright.” Coriolanus wrapped his arms around you, calming you. “You heard her, there’s still time for them to move back into the right position. I’m sure they will, they want to give their mother a good birth experience.”
You let out a watery chuckle, pressing your cheek into Coriolanus’ chest. “Are you nervous to be heading back to 12?”
Knowing the change of subject was more to calm your nerves than anything, Coriolanus didn’t reprimand you for bringing up the subject.
You had only asked about his time as a Peacekeeper a few times since that summer, and once was to ask why Sejanus hadn’t come back on the train with him. You still had no idea about the cabin, the lake, his last moments with Lucy Gray before returning to the Captiol, to you.
Shaking his head, Coriolanus was brought back to the present when he felt a sharp kick to his side. “That was a strong one, huh?”
You snorted, but looked at him, waiting for an answer.
“I’m not nervous, no. It’s been years since I was there, I’m sure most of the guys there don’t even remember someone who was with them for only a few months.”
Letting the half-answer slide, you and Coriolanus swayed softly as the train moved from District Nine to Ten, both soaking up the silence and peace as your last weeks as a family of two.

Twilight opened the front door, nodding when he saw Franky and smiled when he saw Anya. They had just come back after their outing to the cafe, but rather than looking excited, Franky had a frantic look on his face. “Bro, we need to talk. A-S-A-P.” Franky said, cutting to the chase as if the matter was urgent. Twilight nodded, sensing the seriousness in Franky’s voice before sending Anya off to her room and sitting down with Franky. Currently, Yor was out and Anya had wanted some uncle time, it was the perfect opportunity for Twilight to give updates on his mission.
“Remember [AgentName]?” Franky asks, Twilight deadpanned for a moment giving Franky a weird look. “Yes..? Franky, that’s my wife.” Twilight whisper yelled, Franky just chuckled nervously in response, “Well, she hasn’t received any messages from you in the last two freaking years.” The short man says. That explained a lot.
Twilight sighed, “That explains the lack of messages in return..” The blond said, pinching the bridge of his nose. “But get this, you’re a real father too.” Franky mentioned before making an explosion noise with his mouth and doing some motion with his hands.
Loid choked on his drink, “Pardon?” he asked as he coughed up some of the drink. “You have a daughter, like a biological one!” Franky said, seemingly the only excited one of the two about this news. “And she didn’t tell me?” Loid whispered softly, mostly to himself, Franky shrugged. “She seemed hurt that you hadn’t reached out, maybe that’s why..” Franky replied, Loid just held his head.
He had been reaching out, someone or something had been cutting contact between him and his wife. He had told her not to contact him unless he contacted her first- but here he sat regretting that choice. “I should get going..” Franky said standing up, “Wait, if I can’t trust Nightfall to deliver messages to The Handler, can you deliver a message to her directly?” Loid asked.
Franky acted like he was thinking, making Loid shake his shoulders, “Fine.” Franky gave in. Loid wrote a long message before tucking into the envelope and handed it to Franky. Franky signed and took the paper before heading out and to where Twilight and [AgentName] lived and slipped the envelope into the mailbox and went on his way.
It would be the following afternoon when [YourName] opened her mailbox and found a piece of mail addressed to her using her agent name. [YourName]’s heart skipped a beat, she grabbed the remaining mail and rushed back inside. Luckily, Lotte was sound asleep, napping.
[YourName] carefully opened the envelope, fearful of what was inside. Divorce papers? An apology? Or a mission? She had no idea, she had hoped it was the middle option, but half of her wouldn’t blame Twilight if he chose to divorce her.
“To my Sweet Angel,”
Okay, well seems good so far…
“I want to start this letter off with an apology, for it seems the messages I’ve been sending for the last two years haven’t graced your beautiful (EyeColor) colored eyes, and that absolutely breaks my heart. You deserve a night out, alone, with me, though I won’t be able to serve that up for another six months. This mission is almost over and I’ll return to your arms, along with our child that I’ve just been told about. Why didn’t you reach out? Two years, Angel, and not once did you break protocol. As much as I appreciate it, when you’re going through desperate times, i.e. giving birth to our first born, is definitely a great reason to do so. I hope I haven’t missed too much, just as I miss your face…
-Twilight”
[YourName] broke down into tears, thanking whatever god out there that existed for this message. She gently brought the paper up to her face as she cried, unintentionally sniffing it and getting a whiff of that cologne Twilight had spread across their bedsheets on days he didn’t feel like showering before a nap.
[YourName] could hardly believe that Twilight hadn’t asked for a divorce. That it was all some miscommunication, not even on her end, but on his. Half of her was pissed, was he trying to seamlessly dance his way back into her life? She didn’t know if she was exactly ready for that, if Lotte could handle that.
With a sigh, [YourName] placed the letter on the kitchen counter. She had to prepare to write some sort of response, she was hurt but happy to hear from her husband. Why didn't he try other ways to contact you beforehand? It broke her heart to know he hadn't thought of delivering a message to the handler himself.
[YourName] brushed those thoughts away and decided to make herself a snack, then one for Lotte as well, preparing for when she woke up. While the woman ate her snack, she watched some tv show until she heard her daughter's cries. She set her bowl down and headed toward the nursery. [YourName] scooped Lotte up and comforted her while opening the curtains.
Lotte was only two, but she could always tell when something was off with her mother. When she was finished getting changed into some afternoon clothing, Lotte made it her mission to make her mother feel better. She tried sharing her food, cuddling [YourName], and other things toddlers could do- but nothing seemed to work.
"Mama! Mama!" Lotte cried rushing toward her mother, who sat on the couch and seemed lost in thought. "Hold!" Lotte said, handing her favorite stuffed animal to her mother, which finally broke [YourName] and she was in tears once more. Lotte gasped, climbing the couch and hugging her mother's arm. [YourName] brought her daughter in for a proper hug, kissing Lotte's head.
"How do you feel about meeting.. someone important to mama?" [YourName] asked, not letting it leak that this important someone was, in fact, Lotte's father. She wasn't even sure if Lotte knew what a 'father' was- it's not like she's in any schooling yet, all she knew is what she saw in her cartoons and her mother. Lotte looked like she was thinking, but she eventually nodded her head, "Yay!" she said.
A little was taken off of her shoulders, and after dinner that night while Lotte watched her cartoon, [YourName] wrote a reply to Twilight. It wasn't long, but it definitely wasn’t just your run-of-the-mill letter. To summarize her note to her husband, she basically said she was ready to meet up with him whenever he was ready.
The following morning, [YourName] delivers the message to The Handler who gets it to Twilight in no time.
Twilight was sitting at his desk when he received the letter, he thought- 'oh just another side mission' but when he opened and saw [YourName]'s handwriting, he melted. He took in the gentleness of the handwriting and how carefully it was folded, he even hesitated- but sniffed the paper, and just as he thought, it smelt just like the home you two shared.
After reading your note, Twilight cleared his schedule and sent a message to The Handler to send [YourName] to the hospital with their child. So, without questioning him, The Handler did just that. At first, [YourName] was confused why she was given direct orders to pick up Lotte from the babysitter's and go to the hospital, then it clicked in her head who she was going to go see.
"You know, Lotte, this is the hospital you were born in." [YourName] tells her daughter, the toddler just gasped at the news, "Woah!" She says in awe as the driver parks and lets [YourName] and Lotte out. "I'll be just a call away." The driver says before [YourName] could shut the door, she nods her head, shuts the door, and the driver leaves.
Walking into the hospital was something else. [YourName] saw familiar faces from the agency, and a nurse or two that checked in on her when she was in labor, it was all just a lot. Half of [YourName] wanted to chicken out, rush back outside and call for the driver- but she didn't. She couldn’t.
She made her way to Twilight's hallway, found the door to his office, and sighed before knocking. Lotte was on her hip, "Where, Mama?" Lotte asked. "We're seeing that important someone to mama, that's where we are." [YourName] replied softly, just then the door opened and there stood her husband, her daughter's father, the love of her life- Twilight.
"Oh my goodness.." Twilight whispered before ushering the two inside his office, he shut the door and went to hug both Lotte and [YourName]. [YourName] returned the hug with her free hand and softly breathed in her husband's scent, "I've missed you.." Twilight whispered to her. [YourName] smiled softly, nodding her head.
Eventually, [YourName] set Lotte down, allowing the toddler to play with the different toys that Twilight had out for planned clients he had canceled on for the day. "She looks like you.." Twilight said, admiring his daughter for the first time, "Really? I think she looks like her father," [YourName] replied with a sad smile.
After about an hour, and a snack, Lotte was out on the couch. Which finally left Twilight and [YourName] alone to talk. Before anything words could slip out, [YourName] slapped Twilight across the face before bringing him in for a kiss. "Don't think you're just getting away from the last two years, I'm absolutely pissed with you." [YourName] whispered to her husband before kissing him again.

I loved you in secret II Niamh Charles x Reader
Tumblr media
masterlist I word count: 1188
a/n: hi, this one contains hurt/comfort, it's all fictional as always and we hope you guys like it.
Loosing against Barcelona hurt a lot but what was even more painful to you was the heartbroken face of your girlfriend who was coming towards you, the rain pattered steadily on her slumped shoulders.
In the background you saw the Barca players celebrating their entry into the Champions League final.
Even though you knew that not a single word which existed in the human language could ease away the pain right now, you whispered her name: ”Niamh-“
The defender quickly stopped you from talking more by putting a finger to your lips before pressing her mouth on to yours, giving you a passionate kiss.
The move of the brunette caught you off guard because the relationship was supposed to be a secret and you could tell that your team has been watching the two of you.
For another moment Niamh leaned her forehead against yours before she apologized quietly: ”Sorry.”
“Sorry, for the kiss or the loss?”, you frowned at her.
“Both.”, she admitted in an honest tone.
You wanted to press on for her to keep speaking, but it was Erin who cleared her throat, so your girlfriend and you turned around to face her.
The Scottish midfielder nodded into your coach direction who didn’t look the least amused, even a little disgusted:” Sorry to interrupt you girls. I thought you should know that Emma saw you two.
Much to your surprise Niamh’s reply was: ”Good.”
“Good?! You must be joking, Niamhy.”, Sjoeke scolded the defender, she herself seemed to have appear out of nowhere.
“Do I look like I’m joking?”, Niamh asked the red-haired woman in a tone which didn’t leave a doubt about her being serious.
The German forward quietly moved away from her.
“Come on, let’s go inside, love.”, you told your girlfriend.
“Please.”, she answered, tears in her eyes because the pain of loosing 2:0 against the reigning champions of Europe was still too fresh for her not to get highly emotional about everything which was thrown at her.
In the dressing room a concerned Millie came up to both of you:” Niamh, y/n?”
“Yes?”, you lifted your chin, to look properly into your captain’s worried face.
Sounding much more annoyed Niamh mumbled through gritted teeth: ”What?”  The sadness was still there but you could feel her getting angrier by each passing minute.
“You better get home quickly.”, Millie responded softly.
“Why?”, you raised an eyebrow at her.
“She’s pretty mad.”, Guro explained. Hearing the Norwegian say this, send a shiver down to your spine, you all knew all too well who your teammate meant with she, Emma who’s facial expression from earlier was engraved into your visual memory.
Your girlfriends voice brought you back from your thoughts. “About the kiss in the rain? Emma should be mad about the game instead, how we lost it in the second half!”
She tried to keep her voice steady but the anger seeped through the words.
Millie shook her head calmly: “We all lost that game tonight.”
You sighed, looking at the tall defender: “Yes, but Millie, she has no right to hate us just because Niamh and I love each other.”
A look of empathy crossed Millies face: “No, I absolutely agree. I know it‘s been bothering Niamh for a while now.”
“Yes, she‘s tired of the hate. Especially after Emmas statement on player-player-relationships.”, you continued.
Millie nodded in understanding. You were sure that everyone in the room knew that Niamhs anger came from an accumulation of disappointing games and questionable interviews of your coach.
“But we didn‘t lose because of this tonight.”, Millie reminded you.
Niamh let out a long sigh: “No, we didn‘t.”
“Niamh.” The older team captain tried to find the youngers eyes.
“Yeah?”
“Go home.”, Millies voice was soft, her eyes full of worry for the two of you. Still, you did not dare to refuse her order.
You started packing your bags silently, trying to leave the stadium as fast as possible.
“Bye, girls.”, Niamh said plainly, not looking at any. of your teammates.
Guro forced herself to smile: “Bye.”
“Goodbye.”, you said before following your girlfriend out.
Niamh was unusually quiet on your way home. As soon as the door closed behind you and you dropped your bags, she turned towards you.
“I‘m sorry, love.”
“You don‘t need to apologize, Niamh.”, you replied, carefully reaching out to take her hands into yours.
She shook her head, avoiding your eyes: “No, I didn‘t want to get you in trouble. I was just mad.”
Of course, she made the decision to kiss you in the heat of the moment, led by her emotions and it might have consequences for you too but you could not blame her.
“We all were. And rightfully so, I mean the first leg might have been the best game of the season…”
Your girlfriend let out a tired breath: “It‘s been a weird season.”
“You can really say that.”, you nodded in agreement.
Still in thought, Niamh continued: “I didn't say anything when she first called our relationship inappropriate… but it has been bothering me the whole time.”
“Me too to be honest. But I didn’t want it to affect your captaincy.”, you admitted.
“I should have said something.”
You carefully put your hand on her upper arm and tried to find her gaze: “And loose the armband? She'll leave at the end of the season and we're staying.”
“Now that Millie is back, she will get it anyway.”, your girlfriend sighed exasperated.
“Probably., you paused for a second before adding in a hopeful tone, but we can stop hiding now, right?”
“We should have stopped much earlier. We owe that to our teammates who taught us that it’s okay.”, she confessed quietly while placing her head on your lap.
“That’s true to Pernille and Magda..”, you began.
“Fran and Maren.”, Niamh mumbled while your fingers ran soothingly through her still slightly wet hair.
“Aswell as Jess and Ann-Katrin.”
“And there are young players looking up to us.”, the defender said earnestly.
“Right. I don’t want them to feel ashamed for whom they love.”, you whispered as you wished away the upcoming tears with your free hand.
“Come here.”, your girlfriend asked you to lay down beside her which you did.
With closed eyes Niamh kissed away your hot tears.
“I love you.”, you told her, smiling sadly.
“I love you too. On and off the pitch. No matter what anyone says.”, the defender responded seriously before pulling you into a close hug.
“Do you think you can fall asleep tonight?”, you asked her cautiously.
“I’ll try too.”, she answered honestly.
“Sleep well, Niamh.”, you wished her goodnight.
“You too.”
Both of you were drifting away into an exhausted sleep, this season has been tiring. In the morning you were feeling less sad because you could finally stop loving your favourite person in secret and live your truth.
Even though not everyone might like that fact, but you felt like a heavy weight has been lifted from your shoulders. You loved Niamh and it was okay if everyone knew about your love for each other.

Tumblr media
simon slips the pad of his thumb past your plush lips, feeling along the front of your teeth, before pushing down on your tongue to make your jaw fall open. he hears your confused hum, the sound of your voice petering into a broken moan, and simon huffs a fond laugh even as he ruts his pelvis closer to yours, digging his cock even further in your tight walls.
“look at you, princess,” simon murmurs, breathless in wonder and awe, as he pistons his hips in languid thrusts. your ankles are hooked on his shoulders, your legs pushed close to your chest and spread apart just enough to frame your pretty bouncing tits.
simon groans at the sight they make, and the hand cupping your jaw trails teasing touches past your face before coming to squeeze at your tits. he flicks at your pebbled nipples and moans when you clench around him even tighter, a hiccupped sob rumbling from the base of your throat.
“si- hah!- simmy, please, move faster!”
your hands squeeze his shoulders, scratching at taut muscles when another slow grind of simon’s cock teases your pleasure points, rapidly sending electric tingles along your synapses before dying out just as quickly because it’s not enough.
needmoreneedmore-
“shh,” simon replies, pinching your nipples as he says this; it’s not really a punishment but it does make your eyes flutter up to meet his gaze. his hips stutter just a bit when he sees tears clump your lashes together, and simon almost whispers an apology. almost.
“be patient f’r me, sweets,” is what simon coos instead. “i promised you, din’i? that i’ll take care of you?”
“mhmm,” you reply, the hum so vulnerable and quiet that simon couldn’t help but croon again, his possessive touch gliding along your ribs and down to your stomach where he flicks at the jewelled stud in your bellybutton, before ghosting his thumb just above your clit.
you gasp at the muted brush, clenching even tighter in anticipation. you bat your lashes up at simon again, kiss-swollen lips jutting out in a pout, and even though you aren’t talking, simon can practically hear you begging.
and, well, he’s always been weak for you, isn’t he, sweet girl?
the first brush of his thumb on your clit makes you choke, the sound coming out in garbles, before you’re throwing your head further back into the pillows as a squeal is ripped from your throat. your toes curl from where they are braced on either side of simon’s head, your pretty tits bouncing even more as you heave in pleasure, and simon almost goes limp at the euphoria razing through him as slick gushes along his length, the telltale of your building orgasm piercing through him in waves.
jesus-
simon bumps his head along the tender slope of your leg, trying to catch his own breath.
see? aren’t you just a perfect match for him?

CUT!!!!!!! Actor Wally x Stage Hand GN reader Part 2 (part 1 here )
🍎Wally sips his drink and throws it to the ground. It was not what he asked and he was about to go off at the person about his drink when you showed up and he just went quiet. You fuss at the employee yourself noticing his drink on the floor a mess. Telling the employee they need to get him another drink and a towel. You wait for the towel and clean up . Apologizing to him about the mix up and that you will definitely make sure everyone listens. He hummed nodding ,just nervous so he couldn’t really talk.
🎬 You have a meeting with your other employees about what is going on. You point to the pros and cons of making sure the puppets are happy. Good show and positive review. Increase of pay check. Getting to know them as they are wonderful. There were no cons. You told them if they can not help being racist (puppet is a race I believe). Then they can go on and quit and the production will just move on smoother without them. You dismiss the meeting telling everyone to get back to work and clean up the room. Not knowing Wally was listening and just more happy about what’s going on.
🍎Wally was working on set with the others going over their script when he overheard some stage hands. They were talking about forming a union to try and get, he couldn’t hear the rest because they notice him and started whispering. This irritated him and he was about to say something when you showed up. You tell those employees that there is no time to be gossiping. We got a show to record. He just watches you. Can’t keep his eyes off. Julie smirks and comes up with a plan with the others to get Wally to admit his feelings
🎬You were called to the directors area and office with the producers. You asked is everything alright and your bosses look at each other. They sigh and say “Due to a high complaint and forms of signature about getting you off the set. We decided for everyone’s best interest to let you go. After todays recording, we ask you to get your things and leave. We will send you a good severance pay and wish you luck. Do not let the puppets know. It could ruin the recording today thank you (y/n)” Then you were dismissed to finish your work. You were sad but you had to keep a cheery look for the puppets and helped finished up today. Saying goodbye to everyone as they left . They didn’t know it may be the last time. As the actors all left, you grabbed your things and left the studio . Hoping one day everyone would treat them well as you did

Don't ruin the sofa
6.5k | 18+ MDNI | fwb!Joel Miller x f!reader | pt. 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Warnings: no outbreak au, implied age gap, mild hurt/comfort, mention of blood, phone sex, talk of anal play, one (1) face slap, rough sex, pain kink, unprotected piv, creampie, breeding kink, degradation/praise, fluffy aftercare, pet names, dom!Joel Summary: After a phone call brings up repressed emotions, you decide to buy a new sofa. Joel assembles it for you, then fucks you on it.  A/N: You're trying to reach reader? Sorry, she's moved on. (+ is fucking the hottest guy around). Read the previous parts here: pt. 1 | pt. 2 | masterlist | AO3 (each part can be read alone). Thank you all for your love on this series. Your kind words mean the world to me. 🤍
“How is this my fucking life,” you whisper to yourself and let your phone fall onto the wooden coffee table with a thud. You get up with a groan and drag yourself to the fridge where you know an opened bottle of white wine is waiting for you, then pour yourself a healthy amount, eye the glass, pour some more and shuffle back to the sofa.
As soon as you plop back down, your phone lights up and vibrates for the third time since you came home from work. The loud and resonant buzz, amplified and carried by the hard surface of the table, is aggravating to say the least. You take a big sip of your wine and let out an exasperated sigh when the caller won’t let up. That’s it, you’ve had enough. In a split second you swipe up to take the call and put the phone to your ear.
You don’t say anything. He’s the one who’s been texting and calling you every night for the past week, so you’re certainly not going to say something first. Instead, you wait and swirl your wine.
“Finally,” you hear him breathe with relief. “I thought you’d never pick up.”
Then why do you keep calling, you stupid idiot. You roll your eyes in annoyance and put your naked feet on the coffee table. The wine is successfully taking the edge off, but you're still this close to telling him off for good. Perhaps you should; he deserves it.
“I’ve been thinking about you a lot, babe,” he purrs into your ear, his sickeningly sweet voice sending a shiver down your spine. “About you, about us; about everything, really. About what could’ve been if things didn’t end like they di-”
“What do you want, Simon?” You interrupt him, your patience for his theatrics already wearing thin.
“Oh, babe,” he breathes, “It’s so good to hear your vo-”
“What do you want?” You ask again, emphasizing every word.
“I want to apologize,” he answers with a deep sigh, then clears his throat. “I- I’m sorry about what happened and how we ended things, I really am.”
You snort and pluck a stray piece of lint from your tank top. Is he for real right now?
“Cool story, Simon,” you deadpan as you get up to go grab the wine bottle from the fridge. “That it?”
“I was hoping we could talk about things, maybe meet up? I’d love to see you.”
You slam the fridge door shut and take the bottle back to the sofa. “There’s nothing to talk about,” you mutter and pour yourself another glass.
“Of course there is,” Simon protests, the agitated tone of his voice betraying the calm and collected facade he tried to put up. “I really think we should talk about what happened. I can’t just forget about it, you know.” Oh yeah, this is the real Simon. Always trying to manipulate the people around him. Sucks for him that you’ve figured it out.
“Sounds like a you problem,” you mumble and bring the cold rim of the glass back to your lips.
“Oh, come on now. Why are you acting like this?” He groans, his annoyance palpable. When he realizes you’re not going to answer him and that he maybe should be more diplomatic, he relents. “I just think we should talk about it, that’s all.”
“You wanna talk about it, huh?” You laugh dryly. “About how you were fucking Laura while I was bleeding. Or how you were fucking her when I was in surgery. Or how you were fucking her when I desperately tried to reach you. You wanna talk about all of that.”
“Hey, that’s not fair,” Simon counters. “We weren’t together at that point and-,” he trails off and sighs deeply. “I was scared, okay?”
You sigh and pinch the bridge of your nose. “We’ve had this exact conversation three years ago, Simon. There’s nothing left to say. I’m over it.”
“How can you say that?” he asks incredulously.
“You never once called me after I moved out to ask how I was. Not once,” you sigh, this conversation slowly tugging at the stitches of wounds you thought were long closed.
“You told me you didn’t wanna hear from me,” Simon huffs. “And I was- fuck. I’m just sorry, okay? I know i fucked up.”
You both don’t say anything for a few seconds, his breathing in your ear the only thing you can hear.
“Can we meet, babe? Please? I think it would be good for both of us.”
You chug the remaining wine and take a deep breath.
“Leave me the fuck alone, Simon. I got nothing to say to you.”
And with that you hang up and throw your phone across the sofa. You take a deep breath, put your feet on the ground and your palms on your thighs. You close your eyes and say out loud, “calm, safe, breathe.” You repeat the mantra before adding, “It’s over, I’m here, I’m safe. Nothing can hurt me, nothing can hurt me.”
When you open your eyes again and observe the familiar surroundings of your apartment, a soothing feeling of  comfort washes over you. There’s the purple vase you bought at a flea market in the first week after moving in, there are your beloved succulents that look as healthy as ever, there’s the painting you got from your talented colleague for your last birthday. And there’s the polaroid Tommy took of you and Joel at the party where he introduced you two.
You quickly wipe away your tears and turn on your TV. Another glass of wine, your favorite show and you’ll be able to sleep in no time, you tell yourself. You get up to get a new bottle from the fridge and decide to take the leftover banana bread you made with you as well. It’s time for all the comfort you can get.
With your hands full, you shuffle back to the sofa and, due to the dim light and the fact that you just downed an almost full bottle of wine on an empty stomach, you completely miss the fact that you’re directly walking into one of the coffee table legs. You stub your toes hard, trip and fall to the floor. You can only watch in slow motion as the plate flies through the air and shatters on your hardwood floor, the banana bread just rolling away sadly. The wine glass is even more spectacular, as its contents spill all over your sofa and the glass explodes into a thousand shards.
“Fuck my life,” you groan and get on your knees to pick up the big pieces with your hands before sweeping up the smaller ones with a dustpan and brush later.
“Shit,” you hiss and clutch your wrist.
Of course you cut yourself on one of the shards, blood immediately trickling down onto the carpet. The cut on your palm is not deep, but it stings. And the blood is already seeping into the fabric - great. You let out an exasperated sigh and get up.
You can’t be bothered to take care of all this right now, so you slap a too small bandaid over the cut, brush your teeth, take your melatonin with a glass of water and go to bed.
—
What sociopath calls this early? And on your day off no less. You groan at the sharp and grating sound emitted by your phone on the nightstand, but pick up when you see who it is.
“Yeah?” Your voice is little more than a hoarse whisper, laced with a sleepy rasp.
“Aww, did I wake the princess?” Joel asks in mock concern. You can hear the smirk on his stupid handsome face through the phone.
“No, no,” you murmur and rub your bleary eyes. “I’ve already run ten miles, deep-cleaned my whole apartment and rescued a cat from a tree. What have you done, hm?”
“Touché. Very impressive, darlin’,” he chuckles, your wit never failing to amuse him. “And no, I haven’t rescued any cats so far today. I’m just at work. Besides,” he continues before his voice takes on a sultry tone, “the only pussy I’m interested in is yours anyway.”
You involuntarily suck in a breath and feel yourself clench around nothing. You’re still half asleep and have no clue what planet you’re on, but Joel’s still managed to get you all hot and bothered within ten seconds of your conversation; and with a shitty pun at that.
You might have a mild problem.
“Hmm, you like that, don’t you?” He groans softly as the rhythmic fapping sound reaches your ear.
“Are you jerking off right now?” You ask, less shocked and definitely more turned on than you should be.
“Yeah,” he purrs. “You wanna help me, baby?”
“Hang on,” you say, trying to process the situation. “You’re at work and you just what, decided to call me at - you look at the time on your display - 7:13 in the morning, so I could get you off?”
“Pretty much, yeah,” Joel murmurs into your ear.
You can’t help but chuckle at his audacity and complete lack of shame. You love it.
“Alright,” you coo, “but first you gotta tell me what’s got you all riled up.” You put him on speaker and slide your hand between your legs.
“My secretary’s wearing a tight dress today,” he murmurs, then spits into his hand to wet his shaft.
“Oh yeah?” You whisper, “She turn you down and now poor you has to make do with me?” You run your fingers through your folds and bite your lip as you spread the slick from your core to your clit.
“You know me better than that, darlin’,” Joel says softly. “I was scrolling through the photos I took of the construction site yesterday and then the pic you sent me caught my eye. Couldn’t concentrate on anything else afterwards.”
A triumphant smile spreads across your face as you think of Joel losing his composure because of you. It is a hot photo to be fair. After your phone call with Simon on Sunday night, you ordered a new sofa, carpet and some fun items of the adult variety to feel better. While trying out one of them, you felt compelled to let Joel have a piece of your fun and sent him a pic of you with your best assets on display.
“You like that one, huh,” you tease, your fingers slowly circling your sensitive bundle of nerves. “I was thinking about you when I took it, you know.”
“Fuck yeah,” Joel murmurs, his breathing heavy. “Look fucking gorgeous with your ass stuffed and your tits out.”
“Mmm, it’s a new ribbed dildo I got. Felt amazing in my tight little hole,” you purr and hear Joel groan softly at the image. “I used a vibrator on my clit while I fucked my ass, but my pussy felt far too empty. It was dripping so much I had to change the sheets after.”
“That’s my dirty girl. You want two cocks to stuff your greedy holes, baby?” He moans, clearly aroused by the idea of seeing you fall apart while being filled to the brim. You dip your fingers into your wet cunt and use your slick to rub your clit harder.
“Yes, Sir,” you breathe, causing Joel’s painfully hard cock to twitch, “want you to tie me to the bed so my pussy’s wide open for you. I want you to choose a toy that’s too big and push it inside my dripping hole to stretch it until it’s a ruined mess. When you’re satisfied and take the toy out of my ruined hole, I’d beg you to finally fuck my cunt with your cock, but you’d fuck my ass instead and just leave my used pussy clench around nothing.”
You moan breathlessly as you can feel the muscles in your abdomen tighten and pleasure building rapidly. Hearing Joel lose his mind on the other end of the line is setting all of your nerves on fire and you desperately wish he was here to fuck you like you deserve.
“Fuck, you’re such a perfect little whore,” Joel groans, fisting his cock faster. “I’d film the whole thing, so I could show you how pathetic you look begging for my cock and dripping with my cum. I’d fill you up over and over again until you’re a crying mess begging me to stop.” His moans are getting louder and you can’t help but wonder how thick the walls of his office must be.
You can’t wait for him to get his hands on you and do with you as he pleases. “I’ll take whatever you decide to give me, Sir.”
“Gonna take my cum in all your holes, angel?”
“Yes, Sir. Please, I need it so bad. I just wanna be your cum slut for you to fill up.”
When Joel just groans at that, you know you’ve hit on something. “That’s what I am, right? Your cum slut to fill up?” You’re incredibly close to coming already, but you want to wait for Joel.
“That’s what you are, angel. And you’re just perfect like that. Three holes for me to use. Always so,” he pants breathlessly as he’s tip-toeing on the edge of his release, “always so fucking good for me. Gonna- gonna ruin you, baby. Gonna make you come on my cock until you cry.”
“Can I please come, Sir? I- I don’t think I can wait anymore,” you whine desperately, Joel’s filthy mouth putting you over the edge.
“Oh yeah, baby,” he pants breathlessly as he increases the pace of his strokes. You can hear the obscene sound of him fucking his fist. “You gonna come with me?”
You moan his name as you reach your peak, your whole body trembling and finding its release. Joel is right behind you, erupting into his hand and onto his belly with a strangled groan. Your orgasm is so intense that you can ride it out for a few ecstatic seconds filled with your breathless moans. When you come down from your climax, you only hear your blood rushing in your ears and the pulsating sound of your heart.
You try to catch your breath for a few seconds and open your eyes before asking, “Joel, you alive?”
When the only thing you hear is heavy breathing, you giggle. You know exactly how he looks right now, all disheveled with his wet cock out and a big satisfied smile on his lips. You wish so badly you could lick up every last drop of his cum.
“Mmm, you’re such a good girl,” Joel murmurs after some time, still coming down from his high and opening a drawer to retrieve some tissues. “I’ll clear my schedule, so we can do this every morning, alright?”
You chuckle and turn on your side, “You’d get bored with me pretty quickly if we did this every day.”
“That’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard today,” Joel scoffs and wipes his softening cock with the tissues. “And I had to explain to Tommy that he can’t influence the gender of his future baby by fucking his wife a certain way. So, yeah.”
You laugh at the image of Tommy vividly explaining how he and Maria have sex and Joel just standing there, dumbfounded, asking himself if he might have damaged his little brother’s brain when they were wrestling as kids.
“Alright, babe,” Joel says softly, “since my cock’s not hogging all of my blood anymore, I should try and get some work done.”
“Good idea,” you chuckle. “Say hi to Tommy from me, okay?”
“Will do, darlin’. And you let me know when you got time to show me that new toy of yours in person, alright?”
Your eyes lock on the big IKEA packages in your living room and you bite your lip.
“You wanna come over later?”
---
You’re actually excited for your new sofa. You’ve had the old one removed by a company yesterday and already spread out the new carpet. It’s gray with white shapes on it. And it’s fluffy, so you’ve spent quite some time walking on it with bare feet.
You assembled your old sofa yourself when you moved in three years ago. It was dark blue and you loved it. But you also spilled a lot of stuff on there over time, bodily fluids included. So it’s nice to get a new, clean one.
Especially when it’s the reason why Joel Miller is currently kneeling on your floor, his broad back and arms stretching the fabric of his white T-shirt, his perfect butt accentuated by his jeans, wrestling with the IKEA manual he insists is “misleading” and “must’ve been written by some idiot who’s never built anything in his goddamn life”.
Needless to say, you’re loving the free entertainment.
He shoots you an annoyed look and lets out an exasperated sigh when you point out for the third time that he’s reading the instructions wrong. You can’t not tease him, he makes it too easy.
“As much as I appreciate your very generous help, darlin’, I really wish you’d get the fuck outta here before I strangle you. Lovingly.”
You giggle and scratch the back of his head softly. “It’s not like you to get so frustrated, baby,” you purr into his ear as you lean down, giving him a perfect view of your naked tits under your oversized shirt. “You sure you don’t need my help? I wouldn’t want you to strain your poor knees and back too much, you know.”
You wish you could take pictures with your retinas because the glare Joel is giving you right now is priceless.
“You think that’s funny, huh?” He scoffs and tilts his head as his dark eyes bore into you. Uh-oh, now you did it. “If you’re not out of this room in ten seconds, I’m gonna tie you to your bed and edge you with a vibrator on full volume until you’re crying from pain. And believe me when I tell you that I will not let you come.”
A smug smile tugs at the corners of his plush lips as he observes how your pupils have dilated and how you're pressing your thighs together at his threat. He raises an eyebrow when you don’t move and tuts, “Poor baby, already cockdumb even though I haven’t even touched her yet, hm?” You frown at him, but he just laughs at you. “Time’s ticking you little brat, better get out while you still can.” You bite the inside of your cheek and sigh dramatically before heading for your bedroom.
When you hear Joel chuckle behind you, you hesitate for a second, but he’s already read your mind. “Don’t even think about it,” he growls. “And close the door.”
You do just that, jump on your bed and watch Netflix on your laptop. It only takes Joel another 40 minutes to finish assembling the sofa, so you’re pleasantly surprised when he calls your name so soon.
You close your laptop and quickly smell your armpits. You’ve showered in the morning, but it’s still incredibly hot even with the AC blasting. When you’ve assessed that you smell good, you open the door to the living room.
“How do you like it?” Joel asks as he’s standing next to the cream-colored piece of furniture. He’s already put away all of the packaging material and made sure the cushions are clean. It looks absolutely stunning and nicely complements all the other furniture in the room.
You trace the back of the sofa with your hand, appreciating the soft material and come to a halt when you’re flush with Joel’s body. You look up into his eyes and coo, “Thank you so much, Joel. I love it.” He smiles back at you and studies your face for a second before grabbing you by the nape of your neck and your ass cheek.
“You listen to me very carefully now ‘cause I’m not gonna repeat myself,” he growls, intensifying the grip on your neck. “You do as you’re told. You answer me. You don’t come unless I tell you to and I’m not gonna stop unless you say your safeword. Understood?”
You’re so stunned that you can only nod, your words completely failing you.
You gasp in surprise as Joel’s palm cracks against your left cheek, leaving a stinging imprint. You instinctively move your left hand to soothe the pain, but Joel is faster than you and catches your wrist. “Tell me your safeword, baby,” he purrs and caresses your sensitive cheek.
You stammer the specific word you both know to be your safeword before he tangles his hand in your hair and captures your lips in a hungry kiss. Your heart rate picks up immediately as you part your lips slightly, allowing his tongue to slip in. The sensation of Joel’s soft lips and his broad body pressing against yours has you rub against the bulge in his jeans.
He grabs your thigh and lifts it up, so he can grind against your aching core directly. You moan into his mouth, your hands wrapped around his neck, pulling him into you as you move your hips in sync with his thrusts. You’re so sensitive since your orgasm this morning that you could come like this if he let you.
“Such a needy little thing, aren’t you,” he pants as he breaks the kiss and studies your face. Your pupils are blown, your chest is heaving and your mind is spinning. You want him so badly it hurts. “Take off your clothes and bend over the armrest, baby,” Joel orders and you obey immediately. You let your shirt and pj pants fall down to your feet, causing Joel to suck in a sharp breath when he sees that you’re not wearing any panties.
He looks at you hungrily as you bend over the sofa, your arms resting on the cushion and your ass in the air with your legs spread.
“You’re the prettiest little whore I’ve ever seen, you know that?” He asks as he’s tracing your back with his fingertips. When you don’t answer him, he smacks your ass hard. You yelp in surprise at the impact and instinctively close your legs. Joel presses his clothed bulge against your wet pussy and kicks your feet apart with his. He caresses the red cheek with one hand and tangles the other in your hair to yank your head back. “Answer me or I’ll spank you until you can’t anymore,” he growls into your ear, the dangerous tone of his voice sending a shiver down your spine.
“I’m the prettiest little whore you’ve ever seen,” you blurt out, then moan at the feeling of Joel running his fingers through your folds. “Mmm, you’re such a good girl,” he praises. “Always so wet for me.”
You hear him unbutton and unzip his jeans, hear his belt buckle hit the floor and his heavy breathing behind you as he coats his hard cock in your slick and gives it a few pumps. “I need you to be strong now, angel,” he says softly as he rubs your clit with his index and middle finger. You’re so desperate for him to touch you that his words don’t register.
A needy moan escapes your lips as he’s finally relieving some of the tension that’s been building in your core all day long. You push your hips back as far as you can to chase the friction, but Joel withdraws his fingers all too quickly. You whine desperately at the loss and immediately feel tears well up in your eyes. You hear the dull thud of his T-shirt hitting the floor.
“Shh, be good for me, baby,” Joel purrs before you feel his hands grabbing your hips and the head of his cock nudging your entrance. Your eyes widen in realization as your brain has now processed what he’s planning on doing.
Before you can protest though, he’s already ramming his cock inside you in one smooth thrust, splitting you open with a force you’ve never felt before.
“Fuuuck, that’s it, baby,” Joel groans loudly, stumbling forward because of the shiver that’s running down his spine, causing him to go even deeper.
The sudden impact of his cock spreading you open without any preparation besides your wetness has knocked the air out of your lungs. Only when he moves and nudges your cervix does your body finally allow you to cry out in pain.
“Shh, it’s okay baby, it’s okay, I’m here,” Joel purrs as he gives you no time to adjust to his size or the pain at all, but starts to set a slow rhythm, thrusting his cock in and out of your tight pussy. You sob into the cushion and try to rub your clit on the armrest, but Joel pulls you back on his cock hard when he notices.
“Nuh-uh, baby,” he tuts as he picks up the pace and uses his grip on your sides to bounce you on his cock. “What do you think you’re doing, huh?”
He slaps the same spot on your ass as before when you don’t answer him. Your chest heaves as you choke on your sobs, unable to get an answer out. “I know it hurts, baby. I’m so sorry about that,” he coos as he continually rocks into you at an unrelenting pace. “But I really need you to answer me, angel.”
“I-I want to c-come, Sir,” you sob pathetically, tears streaming from your eyes.
“I get that, baby, I really do. But I don’t think you understand what this is,” Joel groans. “You really think I’m gonna let you come, you brat?”
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” you whine as Joel’s cock expertly massages your G-spot with every powerful thrust of his hips. The mix of pain and pleasure has your body and mind on fire. There are no thoughts in your brain, no ex-boyfriends, no past, no blood, no sadness - just Joel and you, melting into one.
When he feels you tighten your muscles around him, hears your breathing get ragged and the pitch of your moans get higher, he pulls out of you. You scream and sob into the cushion as your legs shake uncontrollably. You were so close.
“Fuck, I love the sounds you make,” Joel breathes, then starts stroking your back and ass gently before watching his cock disappear into your body once again. “I don’t care how good it feels,” he pants. “You'd better not come until I tell you to.”
When you feel your orgasm approach quickly again, your body so utterly desperate for release, you resort to begging. There is no pride left, only carnal desire.
“Please Joel, please, let me come, please,” you whimper weakly between sobs. “You can come wherever you w-want, my ass, my pussy, my m-mouth, all over me - just please let me come. I can’t take it anymore.”
“That’s a good girl, begging so pretty,” Joel coos and slowly pulls out of you. He holds you steady as he feels you tremble. “Lie down, darlin,” he says softly and guides you on your back.
He kneels between your legs and puts one of them over his shoulders. He lines himself up with your entrance and pushes in. “Look at me, baby,” Joel breathes. “Look at me when you come.” You moan softly as he brings you to the edge of your release in the matter of a few thrusts. “That’s it, angel,” Joel encourages you, his face hovering above yours. “Don’t hold back, I got you,” he nods. You arch your back as you reach your peak, a choked groan escaping your lips as wave after wave of ecstasy washes over you.
“Fuck, you’re so perfect, baby. Wanna come all over you,” Joel groans, your walls contracting around him as he’s slamming his hips against your core with abandon.
“Don’t ruin the sofa,” you mumble between breathless moans. Joel chuckles into your ear and nibbles on your earlobe. “I guess I’ll just have to fill you up then,” he rasps, picking up the pace and sinking his teeth into the delicate skin of your neck.
He comes with a low, rough grunt as he spills himself deep inside you. His hips stutter and his whole body suddenly goes limp as he comes down from his high on top of you. You draw shapes onto his back with your fingertips and he hums into the crook of your neck. When he tries to pull out after a few seconds, you grab his ass to stop him.
“No, no, no,” you protest weakly, “it’ll drip on the sofa.”
“Alright, baby, no worries. Just hold on to me, can you do that?” Joel asks gently. “Hm,” you answer and wrap your hands around his neck. He maneuvers you from your back into a sitting position with you on top, then moves to stand with you wrapped around him. He carries you to the bathroom like this, making sure his cock stays inside you the whole way.
He lets you down right in front of the toilet and you immediately sit down, so his cum doesn’t drip on the floor. “Join me, when you’re done, okay?” Joel murmurs as he kisses your forehead before stepping into the shower. You pee and wait a bit for more of his cum to trickle out of you, then step into the shower as well.
You squeeze past Joel to stand under the water, wet your whole body and hair and squirt some of the peach scented body wash onto your loofah to scrub your body. “Let me do your back,” Joel says softly, then massages you from your neck down to your feet with the sponge as you apply your shampoo.
When you’re both done, you dry off with two of your fluffiest towels and go to put on your clothes. You get yourself a new pair of pajama pants and another oversized shirt and Joel puts the clothes he came in back on.
“What do you want from Domino’s?” You shout from the bedroom. Time for pizza and Netflix.
---
“What the fuck,” you hiss as you see the new notification on your phone. “I fucking told you to leave me alone, what is so fucking hard to understand? Asshole.” You lean over the counter and stare at Simon’s messages. Wanna give you space, babe. But I can’t live without you. You put the leftover pizza in your fridge and slam the door.
“You alright, darlin’?” Joel asks as he’s suddenly standing behind you in the kitchen.
“Yeah, sorry, all good,” you murmur, turning around to face him and putting on the most convincing smile you’re capable of right now. You’re not fooling Joel for a second and you know it. When he gives you a sympathetic look, you can’t muster the strength to pull up the corners of your lips anymore. Instead, you look at the fuzzy slippers on your feet and sigh deeply. “It’s my ex,” you say quietly. “He started calling and texting me a week ago after no contact for three years and it’s really stressing me out.”
Your eyes find Joel’s and you immediately feel sorry for bringing it up. “Fuck, I-I’m sorry,” you stammer and shake your head. “It’s not your problem. Forget what I said.” He closes the distance between you two and wraps his strong arms around you in a warm embrace. You put your arms around him and stroke his back. You can feel his heartbeat.
“Why don’t I make us some coffee and we sit back down on your new, not-ruined sofa, hm?” He murmurs into your hair with a smile.
“Joel, I don’t-”
“We don’t need to talk about it if you don’t want to. We can just sit, drink coffee and not talk as much as you want.” His warm hands softly rubbing your back make you feel so safe.
“Okay, thank you,” you mumble into his shoulder before letting go of him. You open a drawer and pull out a bag of cookies. “I got these for you if you want them.” You hold up the bag and Joel takes it with a furrowed brow and a curious smile.
“How in the world did you know?”
“You honestly don’t remember?” You giggle. “You ranted about how much you love these for an hour when we got high a few weeks ago. They don’t sell them anywhere nearby so I ordered them in a specialty store online.”
Joel shakes his head and looks at you with his big puppy eyes. “You’re the best, darlin’. Thank you.” He kisses your forehead gently, then tells you to make yourself comfortable on the sofa.
You sit down and look around. Being here feels different. Your apartment looks the same as it did a few hours ago. Sure, the sofa and carpet are new, but there’s something else. You realize that it doesn’t bother you to have someone else in your home, in your safe space. It’s actually kind of nice to know someone’s here.
“There you go,” Joel says as he hands you your cup. He sits down beside you and puts a bowl filled with cookies on the coffee table.
You pull your feet up onto the cushion and say, “Thank you.” Joel puts his arm over the backrest and caresses the nape of your neck with his fingers.
“You remember what I told you when you asked me to stay over on our first night together?” You ask quietly.
“I do,” Joel says softly. “You said you couldn’t and when I asked what you meant by that you said you didn’t wanna get attached.”
“Sounds kinda mean now that I’m thinking about it,” you murmur. “You know it has nothing to do with you, right?”
“I know, darlin’,” Joel reassures you. “And I’ve told you from the beginning that I’m not gonna pressure you into anything you’re not ready for. We got a good thing going and as long as you’re happy, I’m happy.”
“I haven’t always been this way, you know,” you sigh and play with the hem of your shirt. “And I fucking hate that it was one guy that ruined everything,” you say dryly and stare into your black coffee. “It wasn’t a good relationship to begin with and we both made some bad decisions. I know that. So when I packed up a handful of my things and walked out of our apartment forever, I didn’t think I’d ever hear from him again. Until now.” You take a sip of your coffee and continue, “He apologized for the shit he did and asked me to meet him.”
“How do you feel about that? Him apologizing?” Joel asks, his calm tone of voice soothing your nerves.
You sigh deeply and let your head fall back onto the sofa. “I feel like it’s a goddamn joke,” you scoff and throw your arm over your eyes. “I don’t believe a single word he says and he didn’t even really apologize, you know? He still doesn’t understand what he did. Or maybe he does and just doesn’t care.”
You lift your arm and turn your head to look at Joel. “I dunno which is worse.”
“It sucks that he’s not giving you the apology you deserve after hurting you. I’m sorry, darlin’.”
“I just don’t understand why it bothers me so much, you know? I haven’t seen him in three years, I’m over it, so why does it still hurt so fucking bad?”
“Did you love him?” Joel asks and tucks a loose strand of hair behind your ear.
You look into his big, sincere eyes and nod. “Yeah,” you murmur. “At least I thought I did.”
“Well, there’s your answer, sweetheart.”
You hide your face behind your hands. “I’m such a fucking idiot,” you groan, embarrassed of your pathetic feelings and the way you’re behaving in front of Joel. Being this emotionally vulnerable is causing you physical pain.
“Hey, stop that nonsense,” he objects immediately, scooting closer to you and pulling you against his chest. “You have a big heart, you have feelings. You’re allowed to feel hurt and you’re allowed to feel sad.” He kisses the crown of your head and murmurs, “You don’t have to be strong all the time.”
“Have you ever cut someone out of your life completely?” You mumble into his chest.
“I have.”
“Do you ever think about them?”
“Sure I do,” Joel nods. “Not often, but yeah. It’s normal. Especially if they meant a lot to you.”
“Hmm, I guess.”
You look up and give him a genuine smile before sighing and reaching for the remote. “Enough heavy stuff for today,” you say. “Let’s watch something. I can feed you cookies and scratch your back…”
---
“You wanna know what I like about you?”
“My old man fetish.”
He looks at you incredulously for a second, then starts tickling the soles of your feet in retaliation. “You’re such an ass,” he laughs as you try to wriggle away. You squeal and try to kick him off, but he’s got both of your ankles in a firm grasp. “You’re lucky you’re cute,” he murmurs, then pulls you closer. “C’mere.”
You sit up and straddle him, your hands resting on his broad shoulders. Joel puts his arms around you, his hands splayed on your back, instantly grounding you and providing a sense of security.
He looks into your eyes and murmurs, “What I was going to say is that I like your honesty; with yourself and others. It’s a quality you should never give up on, even if it’s hard.”
“I’ll try.”
“Good girl,” he murmurs, then looks at his watch. “I should go, darlin’. It’s been a long day.”
You nod and let him get up to put on his shoes.
“Joel?”
He turns around and looks at you with raised eyebrows.
You want to tell him that he doesn’t need to go, that he can stay this time, but the words just won’t leave your lips. Instead you say, “Thank you for today, seriously.” You walk up to him and press a soft kiss to his lips. “You really helped me and made me feel so much better.”
Joel doesn’t answer immediately as he tilts his head and studies your face. “I’m glad I could cheer you up, darlin’,” he coos and caresses your left cheek. “Call me if you need anything, okay?”
“Will do, Joel. Thank you.”

You open Simon’s messages and type in your reply before blocking him.

IT WAS THE NEXT MORNING AND THE FOUR OF YOU WERE RIGHT BACK IN MR. SUNN’S CLASS. You had a permanent smile on your face from last night and something had shifted between you and JJ in the hours between then and now. While you were driving to school in the car you two had fixed up together, you’d made a joke about him being your passenger princess, the blonde laughing and then absentmindedly planting his hand on your thigh for the rest of the ride.
You were starting to feel like yourself after weeks of walking around like a ghost and you were holding out hope that after this was all over, once the cloud passed fully, that you could give JJ the answer he deserved.
Right now, you were muffling laughs as Mr. Sunn rambled about the current unit topic, you and JJ sending tiktoks back and forth, phones hidden under the desks.
“Mr.Sunn,” A man emerged in the open doorway, dressed down in a suit with an envelope between his fingers. Your laughter died as your attention went to him. “Can I borrow Mr. Heyward for a moment?”
The teacher looked dumbfounded between Pope and the man at the door, chalk clutched between his fingers. “Uh, we’re in the middle of a lesson.”
“My apologies, it won't be long. I’m from the Vanderhorst Foundation, Mr.Heyward was previously in the running for our scholarship.” He pressed once more, Mr.Sunn sighing and giving in, motioning for Pope to get up. Pope looked at the three of us before getting and leaving the room.
Your eyes met JJ’s across the room, both shrugging. Kiara was too engrossed with trying to peek out of the door from her seat. Even though the classroom was fairly quiet, it was still too far to hear any part of the conversation.
Maybe he was there to offer Pope another chance which would be, for one, great but also impeccably poor timing. You glanced up at your teacher as his attention turned back to the board, slouching in your chair and shooting a text in the group chat the four of you had.
You
think they’re giving him his spot back?
Kie
doubt it, the deadline’s more than dead :/
JJ
maybe they still want him, pope’s a certified genius
Just then, Pope came power walking back into the classroom, turning a few heads as he did so. He practically fell into his seat, turning around to face you, JJ, and Kie, holding the envelope the man from the foundation had in his hand just minutes ago — flipping it to reveal the very same wheat symbol that was branded into the gold bars.
“What the fu-” JJ started, gaining the attention of Mr.Sunn who had very teacher like expression of warning, causing JJ to trip over his words. “Fu-fudge…” He cleaned up. The teacher gave him a look and turned back around in his chair.
“We’ll talk about it after class.” Pope whispered, nodding and turning around his seat.
THE FOUR OF YOU BOOKED IT TO THE LIBRARY AS SOON AS THE BELL RANG, the middle-aged hag of a librarian shushing you at the door. You found an empty table and crowded it as soon as possible, all ears waiting on Pope.
“That was the guy from the scholarship committee.” He started, putting the envelope in the middle of the table. “But that’s not all. Read it.” He urged, JJ being the first to swipe up the letter but he hesitated to read. You were sat next to him, the both of you across from Kie and Pope, so you leaned over his shoulder.
“What? What’s wrong?” You asked. JJ angled the paper in your direction, eyeing the two people in front of him nervously as you immediately spotted the problem — the letter was written in cursive. JJ couldn’t read cursive. “Oh, it’s fine, I got it.” You reassured, gently taking the letter from the blonde’s hands.
“What?” Kiara asked, brown eyes fleeting between the both of you. JJ shook his head, wiping his palms on the fabric of his cargo shorts.
“Nothin’. I just, I can’t read cursive.” He dismissed cooly but you could tell the subject made him slightly insecure. “What does it say?” He deflected, looking back at you.
You cleared your throat before reading, paper clutched between both of your hands. “Dear Mr.Heyward, I am reaching out because I may have material evidence that can exonerate John Booker Routledge…” You trailed off, shocked eyes meeting those around the table before you continued reading. “...It is of vital importance that you come and meet with me in person at my offices at twenty-seven King Street, Charleston at eight PM sharp, tonight. Please come alone…?” Your face twisted at that. No way in hell was that happening. “Regards, C.Limbrey.”
“Charleston?” JJ exclaimed incredulously, eyeing Pope’s endlessly pacing figure. “That’s like an eight-hour drive.”
“Plus, the ferry.” You added. “If you want any chance of getting there tonight we’d have to leave, like, right now.”
“I have a free period.” Kie shrugged, sighing. “I gotta tell my mom, though…”
“Alright but guys?” You piped up, meeting each of their eyes before continuing. “If we get it this time, there’s no way in hell we are giving it to Shoupe. It's gotta go to higher ups or some shit.”
“Agreed.” JJ nodded, standing from his seat and grabbing his backpack, you following his lead before Pope, who was crouched in front of the library computer, spoke up.
“I think whoever this Limbrey person is, they might be related to the captain of the Royal Merchant.” He told the three of you, JJ and you sharing a look before rounding the table to stand behind the boy at the computer, a webpage pulled up — a biography for ‘Captain Herman Limbrey’.
Well. Charleston it is, then.
“I AM SO SICK OF THIS SHIT!” Kiara’s mom’s voice traveled through the rolled down windows of Heyward’s truck. You, JJ, and Pope were sat with the music playing lowly as Kiara attempted to reason with her parents about where she was going.
The family of three was visible from the driveway, but you could no longer hear the conversation as their voices lowered.
“They’re takin’ it really well.” JJ quipped sarcastically. You were sat in the middle of the two boys, Heyward’s truck not having a backseat made this drive even more dreadful. “How’d you get this rig?” The blonde asked the boy in the driver’s seat, referring to his father’s truck. “I know your old man didn’t let you have it.”
Pope spoke absentmindedly, eyes too focused on the girl arguing with her parents some feet away. “I undid the intake valves on the carburetor, made it start pinging.”
JJ nodded his head in approval, shifting his weight in the seat. “Mm, and now you’re just gonna 'take it to your cousin Jeff’s house, just gonna get it fixed, and crash overnight’.” He suggested to which Pope agreed. “I think I’m rubbin’ off on you, Pope. Lyin’ to your old man, stealin’ his truck…”
You quickly nudged the blonde in his side, shooting him a look. He held his hands up in mock surrender and bowed his head. “Ma bad. Sore subject.”
Pope simply sighed, tipping the hat on his head. “I’d say we have about eighteen hours before my pops loses his shit. So long as we get it back before then, we should be good.” Just then, Kiara came storming in the direction of the vehicle, yelling at her parents over her shoulder.
“I’m not going to boarding school!” She shouted, JJ opening the door for the both of you to get out and allow her into the car but she paused in her tracks when her dad began shouting.
“Look at your life, right now! Look at your life!” Kiara looked around at the three of you and then back at her father, shrugging carelessly and not sparing a word. Pope then peeked his head out of the driver’s side window.
“I, um, I promise to have her back at a reasonable hour and safe.” He threw out, holding his hand up as if he was asking permission. Kiara looked at him, shaking her head.
“Kiara, listen to me,” Her mother started, not exactly yelling but her voice traveled clearly. “You wanna go? Then go. But if you don’t come back at the proper time, then don’t. Come back. At all!”
You turned to Kie from your place next to JJ. “Hey, don't even worry about it. It’s the same threat each time, you know they won’t go through with it.” You told her quietly, in hopes of not offending her parents but offering her some sort of comfort.
Kiara didn’t say a word as she ducked into the car, you piling in as JJ squished himself in next to you.
“This shit would be so much easier without parents...” She scoffed, throwing her bag down on the car floor as JJ shut the passenger side door.
You and him both shared a look, knowing Kie probably didn’t fully think about what she was saying or who was around. You both grimaced at one another before looking away.
“God, 's so hot in here.” She complained throwing her head back. “Remind me why we didn’t take your car again?” She directed the question at you. “I mean, isn’t it drive-able now? You and JJ spent like every day working on it…”
“Yeah, but it doesn’t have the willpower to make it to Charleston and back just yet.” You told her with a small shrug. The girl simply groaned, trying to adjust herself in between you and Pope so it wasn’t so tight.
“Okay, could you stop moving like that? It’s making it hard to drive.” Pope inquired, pulling out of her driveway and heading down the road.
“There’s no space dude, there’s twice as many people in here than this car was built for.”
“Okay, JJ and Y/N, can you guys lap up or something?” The suggestion almost made you cough. Sitting on JJ’s lap for the next few hours did not seem like a good idea, considering recent events.
“Why can’t she sit on my lap?” Kiara asked, cocking an eyebrow.
“Because she’ll block the rearview.” Pope threw out, annoyance growing in his tone.
You looked to JJ for some kind of reassurance, he simply nodded and motioned his hands for you to come on. The car was still moving so you tried your best to be careful, the blonde spreading his legs to make a little more room for you to sit between them.
Once you had yourself settled, it was almost like JJ didn’t know where to put his hands. He had them planted on his on thighs beforehand so he accidentally laid a hand on your thigh before quickly removing it.
“My bad.” He muttered nervously. You could see his face faintly in the passenger side mirror.
“It’s fine. I don’t mind. I’m the one kind of in your space, right now.” You shrugged, trying your best to come off nonchalant, as if this whole scenario didn’t make your heart go crazy.
“You sure? I mean, I got pockets, I can just-”
“It’s cool, JJ.” You cut him off reassuringly, the blonde hesitating before letting his hand make home on your thigh. You didn’t know how to sit, if you should lean back on him, anything. But you figured if you made it awkward, it was going to be awkward. So you took a deep breath and simply leaned back into him, the boy making no protest about the movement.
The only thing you couldn’t ignore was the growing erection that was pressing against your leg, harder by the minute. Heyward’s truck was no smooth riding vehicle, so the ride was quite bumpy. You could still see JJ’s face in the passenger side mirror and he looked mortified.
Neither of you were stupid — if you could feel it, you knew he definitely could. And if he could feel it, he felt terrible knowing you could too.
“I’m so fucking sorry.” He muttered out, coming out more like a sigh as he ran a hand down his face. You shifted your eyes to the left to see Kie on her phone and Pope was too occupied with driving, probably deep in thought about how much trouble he was going to be in if his pops found out about all this.
“It’s-” You cleared your throat before speaking, shrugging one shoulder. “It’s fine. Shit happens.”
“Nah, it’s not.” He groaned. “I can try and move so you can sit more on the seat-”
You cut him off quickly. “We’ll be at the Ferry dock soon. Honestly, JJ. Don’t sweat it.” You said finally.
The action did make a small well of discomfort bubble in your stomach with your last sexual encounter being non consensual and traumatizing. Just because it was JJ didn't quell any of your anxiety but you were trying not to live life as a victim.
A few deep breaths and you were calming down.
You could understand his humiliation and had your relationship with him been in different place, maybe you two would have laughed it off. But with this newfound depth of your “friendship”, it had you both sitting in silence the rest of the ride.
“MY PARENTS ARE SO PARANOID ABOUT ME BEING A POGUE LIKE IT’S THE WORST THING THAT COULD EVER HAPPEN…” Kiara complained leaning against the passenger door of the truck. The four of you had it made it to the ferry just in time to catch the current ride. You and JJ, who was rolling a blunt, were sat in the back of the pick-up truck across from one another, Pope leaning on the side paying the three of you no mind. The awkwardness between you two had alleviated by the time you reached The Ferry, but the situation still lingered in your mind.
Seagulls squawked as the boat sailed the water, the sizable ship making its way slowly but surely.
“Hey, I hear they got good weed at boarding schools, though.” He replied optimistically. “Y’know, ‘cause all the rich kids got a shit ton of money to blow.”
Kie shrugged, dismissing the blonde’s hopeful piece of information. “I’m not going to boarding school.” She protested firmly. “If they want me to go, they’ll have to kidnap me. I don’t even know what their problem is. I mean, my dad was a pogue, you know that, obviously…” She trailed off, throwing an arm out in your direction. “They’re so hypocritical and overbearing. Why can’t my parents be more like yours?”
You couldn’t contain your expression of offense at Kiara’s words, the statement flowing so freely from her lips. So carelessly. “...You want a dead father and an underlying criminal mother who couldn’t give less of a shit about you?” The question was rhetorical but you wondered how she planned on explaining herself.
“Of course not, I didn’t mean it like that.” She cocked her head as if you were being unreasonable. “It’s just that, you can’t deny that this whole thing has been easier for you without parents watching your every move and breathing down your neck. That’s... all I was saying...”
You drew your lips into a thin line, arms crossing defensively. “Okay, well, my dad was murdered and my mother probably had something to do with it. Not to mention she tried to kill me, so not having two parents hasn't really been a choice for me, Kiara. But hey, ‘can’t deny that this whole thing has been easier’ for it, right?”
“I wasn’t saying-” She tried to defend with half a scowl on her face before Pope jumped in, JJ tapping your shoulder and offering you the blunt he’d been preparing. You took his from between his fingers, taking a long drag as Pope spoke.
“Okay, can we not argue? Please? I’m already mildly seasick enough as is.” He suggested, Kiara muttering a ‘fine’ under her breath as she adjusted her ponytail. “Kie, have you tried to hit JB back on that number?”
“Like, twenty-million times.” She groaned. “Some random lady at a hotel keeps picking up the phone.”
Pope sighed, shifting his weight. “Well, until they contact us again, we gotta keep trying to clear John B’s name. Right now? This letter is our best bet.” He concluded, rubbing his hands over his head. You turned slightly to be able to see him, offering the joint to the boy.
His eyes fleeted between Kie and the smoking object, contemplating. She simply crossed her legs and arms, offering the boy a mischievous smile. “What Pope are you gonna be today?” She asked.
He seemed to ponder for a few more moments before shaking his head, you retracting the blunt and passing it back to JJ as he spoke to Kiara. “I’m good, gotta stay focused.”
“I’ll take that.” JJ offered himself up, plucking the rolled object from your fingers with a smile.
Kiara simply nodded, her smile flattening out into a grimace. “Good Pope…” She said. “Boring Pope.” And you didn’t miss the way Pope’s face fell.
“I’VE READ THIS LIKE A THOUSAND TIMES AND IT STILL MAKES NO SENSE.” Kie explained from her place between Pope and JJ, you once again on the blonde’s lap as Pope cruised through Charleston. You’d gotten off the ferry a few hours ago, the sun now lower in the sky. “The Limbrey’s own like half of Charleston. What do some elite Kooks from Charleston known about a murder on Kildare?”
“I’m more concerned about why Pope specifically?” JJ questioned, eyes looking up at the driver.
“Yeah. ‘Please come alone’? That’s off-putting, to say the least.” You added, sitting almost slanted in JJ’s lap in order to lean on the door. You were both a little hazy from the weed so your nerves were a lot calmer.
“I had the same thought.” Pope chipped in. “I was thinking it’s probably because-” He cut himself off as a cloud of smoke erupted from the hood of his dad’s truck, blinding the road ahead. “Aw, shit, come on!”
“Pull over.” Kie demanded. “Jesus, that’s a lot of smoke. Even for your dad’s truck…” JJ began cough, you using your hand to cover his mouth as he rolled up the window. When he had it successfully rolled up, he gently removed your hand from his mouth.
“Pope, I got sensitive lungs, dude.” He coughed out. A filter of smoke filled the car, you trying to wave it from in front of your face as it made your eyes burn.
“I’m pulling over, okay?” Pope assured, but the car wasn’t slowing down. Pope swerved to the side but instead of pulling over, the car kept going off the curb until it was cruising through a patch of grass next to a quiet farm and you didn’t miss the rim that fell off of one wheel fly by the driver’s side window.
“Every time we let Pope drive, nothing goes right.” You muttered as the car came to an abrupt stop, the hood still smoking. You heard the engine die as Pope put both hands on top of his head.
“No, no, no…” He whined as he hopped out of the car, JJ following suit and helping you before jumping out himself.
“It’s gonna blow up.” Kie worried, crawling out of the passenger side herself.
“It’s not gonna blow up.” JJ told her, coughing one last time and rounding the hood as Pope attempted to fan the smoke away with his hat. “You most likely unhooked the radiator, Pope.” JJ suggested, eyeing the state of the vehicle. “Damn, you knocked the entire hubcap off.”
“Yeah, the Limbrey’s might have to take a rain check for tonight.” You added, scratching the back of your neck and eyeing Pope pitifully. The boy had a look on his face — somewhere between terror and disbelief.
“There’s still, uh, public transportation?” Kiara tried to reason, not seeming completely sure about the suggestion herself. You took it upon yourself to life the hood and examine the parts yourself, picking up a little bit about cars here and there from JJ.
“Yeah, it’s definitely the radiator…” You said aloud, sighing. Pope groaned loudly behind you.
“My dad’s gonna kill me!”
“No, he won't. I’m sure-” You were about to reassure the boy before you took one glance back at the car. The smoking, hubcap-less, mess of a car. “Okay, he might. He might…”
“Look, Pope, buddy, I’m sure there’s somethin’ we can do, right?” JJ offered, putting a hand on the solemn boy’s shoulder. You took the time to pull out your phone, you didn’t have many bars out here but enough to open up the ‘Maps’ app on your phone.
“There’s a mechanic garage about fifteen miles south of here.” You announced, looking out at your three friends. “Think your dad’s truck can make it fifteen more miles?”
THE SUN HAD COMPLETELY SET BY THE TIME THE FOUR OF YOU MADE IT TO THE GARAGE. What should’ve been a mere thirty-minute car ride took nearly an hour, Pope being too afraid to drive more than twenty miles an hour and making a pit stop to check under the hood again.
The boy in question was inside, negotiating with the owner of the shop. It was some place called Archie’s Auto Repairs, right next to a gas station and rest stop. You figured you were killing about three birds with one stone – car repair, refuel, and food.
JJ and Kiara were waiting in the truck while Pope spoke to the man in charge and you went inside to relieve yourself and get snacks. You were in the gas station bathroom, finishing up with washing your hands when you looked at yourself in the mirror.
Surprisingly, you didn’t look like complete shit. Your hair was a bit frizzy and you look tired but you looked better than you had in the last month. You felt better than you had in the last month. Ever since that text from John B came through, it felt like everything was returning back to it’s normal state, like your life had hit the refresh button.
And maybe after everything settles and John B is cleared, things could be different but in a good way. This new life you were building, with JJ and Marley, it was starting to make you envision you had never really seen before. A life with JJ as something more than a best friend. You’d thought about him like that a few times throughout your friendship but it was JJ. You needed him and you didn’t want to ruin something so special because you had an on and off crush. But this one stuck. Maybe it was the kiss, or the almost sleeping together, you didn’t know. But something in your head was screaming at you to give it a shot. Something inside of you was reaching for him, calling out for him.
So maybe, once everything was okay again, you could figure that out.
Leaving the restroom, you cruised down the aisles of the shops — candy bars, chip bags, and sugary drinks, the whole selection look appetizing when you hadn’t eaten in over five hours. You grabbed four sodas and two family sized bags of chips and took them up to the register, the older, gross looking man eyeing you up and down as he scanned your items.
“That’ll be nineteen sixty-eight.” He slurred, bagging your goods as you fished for the twenty in your back pocket. “You’re a pretty little thang, aren’t ya? How old are ya, darlin’?” He asked, leaning his arms on the cashier’s counter, bumping the register. You cringed, sliding the bill across the surface.
“Not old enough.” You sassed, snatching the bag from the counter and leaving out the door, the bell ringing above you as you left. “Perv.” You scoffed, rolling your eyes as your rounded the corner of the shop to see the truck come into view.
Just as quickly as you rounded the corner, you hid behind it. Your heart had stopped for a moment as your registered exactly what it was you had just seen. Biting your bottom lip, you slowly peeked your head around the corner to find that your eyes had in fact not deceived you — Kiara and JJ were kissing in the trunk of Heyward’s pick-up. She had both of her hands on his cheeks, pulling his face into hers as his own gripped the side of the truck for stability.
You immediately tore your eyes away when they pulled apart, hiding behind the wall once more. You couldn’t hear them. Maybe you were grateful for that. You were torn between wanting to cry and wanting lash out on them both. But maybe you had no right, maybe you were the fool in this situation.
It was JJ. JJ Maybank. Half of the female pogue population could probably describe in detail what was hidden beneath his pants. And Kiara? Well, who would turn her down? But she was supposed to be “with” Pope and JJ was giving you all types of green lights. But maybe you were blind and couldn’t see them for the red flags that they clearly were.
But you refused to cry. But that didn’t mean you weren’t pissed. You felt a bit played, in all honesty. And by JJ of all people. And how could Kie do that to Pope when he’s less than ten feet away? They weren’t together or anything, sure. But rules of friendship and respect just seemed so thrown out of the window in the past sixty seconds.
So, shaking it off, you rounded the corner with the bag in hand. JJ was scratching the top of his head while Kie fiddled with her fingers in her lap before his eyes found you, immediately perking up.
“And the potty princess returns!” He threw his hands up in celebration. “Ooh, did she bring snacks? What’s in the bag?” He asked, coming closer. When he reached you, you pressed the bag into his chest, attempting to keep him at a distance. Letting him have the bag and not even sparing the two another glance, you hopped into the passenger side of the vehicle, absentmindedly slamming the door shut in your silent rage. You hadn’t realized that one of your hands was balled into a tight fist. Loosing your hand, you left crescent-shaped marks in your palm.
You didn’t know how you felt or what you wanted to do about. So you just sat there, listening to the night air, the crickets, the cars that passed by. You felt like JJ had just stomped on your heart and you weren’t even sure if you could be mad at him for it. But you should’ve known.
You’re a pogue. There’s always a calm before the storm. Nothing good comes without something bad.
A COUPLE HOURS HAD PASSED. Pope had found an empty field to park the truck in — shaded by a large, thriving willow tree. None of you really had enough money for a hotel and the money spent on one would be a waste, anyway.
Surprisingly, there was no night chill in Charleston. The four of you opted to sleep in the trunk of the pick-up, using your jackets and flannels as blankets for comfort. You hadn’t spoken since witnessing what happened at the garage, even Pope was taking weird glances at you the entire ride.
At this moment, Pope was knocked out, Kiara right behind him. You felt a snarl of disgust edge your way onto your face when she leaned over to peck the curly-haired boy on his cheek before closing her own eyes and drifting off. What was she doing?
A part of you was angry that she and JJ kissed, of course. JJ had led you on with this ruse of giving yourselves time to figure out what was going between you two — whether is was grief-driven or genuine. And Kiara had been playing tug-o-war with Pope’s feelings for weeks, months almost, and the moment he has his back turned, she locks lips with his best friend.
As a friend group, you all had your moments. But you never went behind each other’s backs. Especially never like this.
So, you slept alone. As alone as you could, anyway. You were curled up in the farthest place in the trunk from the other three, closest to the front of the vehicle itself. The pit in your stomach was finally starting to settle as the beginning of sleep started to overtake you when a warm hand curled itself around your shoulder, startling you.
Your eyes shot open as you whipped your head to the side to find JJ’s face hovering over yours.
“Jesus.” You whisper-yelled, rolling your eyes before looking at the blonde once more. “What do you want?”
At your standoffish tone of voice and straight to the point question, the boy drew his lips into a thin line, letting his hand slide from your shoulder. “Okay, someone’s grumpy.” He tried to joke, a lazy smile on his face.
You stared blankly at him for a few beats, blinking. “Goodnight, JJ-”
“Okay, sorry sorry…” He protested quickly, looking behind him to make sure he didn’t wake the other two when the volume and pitch of his voice raised before looking back at you. You shifted to lay flat on your back, staring up at JJ as he stared down at you, leaning his weight on one of his arms. “What’s wrong with you? You’ve been actin’ weird since we left that sketchy ass gas station.”
You simply cocked your head. “What’s wrong with me?” You whispered in response, an air of frustration surrounding your voice. “What’s wrong with you?”
He reeled his neck back at your reversal, his face twisting in confusion. “Wh-Nothing’s wrong with me. You basically threw a bag full of snacks at me and jumped into the truck. Did I say something? Was it the potty princess thing ‘cause you know I was just messin’ around.” He guessed, taking your lack of reaction and response as a sign that maybe that wasn’t the problem. “Did I do somethin’?”
“I don’t know, JJ. You tell me.” You pressed, eyes never leaving his own. He genuinely seemed to rake his brain for answers before settling on one that made your blood boil.
“No, I don’t think I did.” The statement sounded more like  a question when it tumbled from his lips. You couldn’t do anything but scoff and roll your eyes, prompting the blonde to try and clean up his answer. “Yes? I don’t know what you want me to say here-”
“Nothing.” You snapped. You were so hurt and angry that you could feel your eyes twitching as you looked at him. “I don’t want you to say anything else to me.” You warned, shifting to turn on your side and effectively away from him. “Ever again.”
“...C’mon, Y/N. Are you just fuckin’ with me or somethin’?” When you didn’t reply, he put a hand on your shoulder, attempting to pull you over to face him. You just shook him off. “Can you tell me what I did?”
The sadness in his voice almost made all the anger fall from your bones but you couldn’t allow yourself to be the weak and vulnerable. Especially not for him. Not anymore.
“No. Now, leave me alone.” You mumbled, shifting to get comfortable for the last time, hearing him sigh and lay down himself behind you. You felt one single tear fall across the bridge of your nose before you closed your eyes. Maybe it was a misunderstanding or something, but your brain couldn’t come up with any explanation of excuse that could explain what you saw. You wanted to talk about it but then again you didn’t. But you knew eventually you’d have to, tonight just wasn’t that night. In a million years, you never thought you’d feel this way because of your best friend.
For the first time in your entire life, you didn’t trust JJ.
“THEY’VE RUN CHARLESTON FOR, LIKE, THREE-THOUSAND YEARS.” Pope explained as the truck pulled to a stop in front of a large, three-story, gated property. It was the next morning and the sun had quite literally just set in the sky. Pope had woken the three of you up at the very first crack of dawn so you could make it there ‘on time’. You’d tried to remind him that ‘on time’ would’ve been last night, but you let him hang on to hope.
It didn’t help that the truck was significantly more crowded. You weren’t eager to sit on JJ’s lap this time around and surprisingly, Kiara wasn’t eager to take your place. Thankfully, the house was only a couple hours from where you slept.
“These Kooks make our Kooks look like Pogues.” JJ proclaimed, staring out of the window and up at the large, standing building. “You sure this is the place, Pope?” He asked, in awe of the property.
“Pretty sure.” The boy sighed, opening the driver’s side door and exiting, JJ following right after as you and Kie exited the vehicle as well, closing the doors behind them. The four you walked up the black, wrought iron fence. Pope held the note in his hands, reading off the address in confirmation.
“Talk about home security…” JJ trailed off, looking at the rather sizeable, sharp points at the top of the fence.
“Are those spikes to keep people out?” Kiara inquired.
Taking a good look at the property through the bars, you noticed a couple of things. You shook your head, a look of disappointment on your face. “No.” You spoke for the first time in hours, the three of them turning to you as you pointed to a section of the yard. “The slave quarters are over there.” You explained, looking at the three of them. “The spikes were to keep people in.” Was the last thing you said before heading up the steps to the front door, the three of them following behind you.
You let Pope take the reigns when you reached the door, him knocking three times on the structure before you heard heavy footsteps coming towards it from the other side. Despite the footsteps, almost a whole minute went by before anything happened.
Pope, nervous and jittery, went to knock again — getting two good ones in before someone opened the door. A middle-aged white man with small, beady eyes and short light brown hair. The expression on his face didn’t look like one of someone who was expecting guests.
Leaning against the door frame, he eyed the four you individually before settling on Pope, an odd smile growing on his features as he pointed at you friend. “You must be Pope.” He said almost excitedly, crossing his arms. Pope stumbled for a response. “Ms. Limbrey was expecting you yesterday.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. My car…broke down on the way up here.” Pope explained, trying to mask his  uneasiness.
“Carburetor blew up in the middle of Nowheresville.” JJ voiced from behind Pope. He didn’t look nervous at all, he looked ready for anything. “Sorry ‘bout that.” He said, little emotion to his voice despite the apology.
“Yeah, she was, uh, real upset when you didn’t show up.” The man told Pope, a southern twang to his voice, almost as strong as Shoupe’s.
“We tried to call but there’s no number on the invitation.” Kiara piped up smally, looking at the invitation as she spoke. “We got here as fast as we could…”
“She also expected you to come alone.” The male said, eyeing you, Kiara, and JJ as he said it.
“Well, he didn’t, so…” You added in, crossing your arms and eyeing the man up and down. “Where’s the ‘she’ with all these demands anyway?”
Pope edged in front of you when the man took a threatening step forward, JJ also shuffling forwards. “Look, these are my friends. They helped find the Royal Merchant, too-”
“The instructions were explicit.” He cut Pope off mid-sentence, eyes boring into yours as he leaned forward, his voice lowering to a condescending whisper. “Your friends…can stay outside.” He reprimanded, straightening out and turning back to Pope.
“We’re kind of a package deal, man.” JJ turned his nose up at the man standing between the four of you and the inside of the house.
Pope turned to the blonde. “JJ, it’s okay. I got this.” He assured, sending a small nod his way. JJ took his words at face value, sending a nod in return and taking a step back.
“We’ll be right here…” Kiara trailed off in support, sliding a gentle hand down the length of Pope’s arm. You simply rolled your eyes, something JJ didn’t fail to notice.
“We’ll keep the car running…” You warned, eyes never leaving the suspicious man in the doorframe.
“Well, c’mon now. Ms.Limbrey can’t wait to see you.” He said, stepping aside to allow a weary Pope into the mansion. The boy in question entered the home, not without a glance back at the three of you out on the front step, the door closing menacingly slow behind him.
“Fucking creep.” You scoffed, turning and heading down the steps swiftly.
“Hey, where are you going?” Kiara asked, running after you, watching as you walked the length of the wrought iron fence, examining the spikes.
“What does it look like? I’m gonna find a way into this…house of horrors.” You mumbled, shaking each of the poles for a weak spot, failing to find one. You resorted to attempting to climb the fence but didn’t even manage to get both feet up onto the structure at once.
“And do what exactly? What if you trespass and ruin all our chances at clearing John B’s name?” The girl asked, her face twisting in annoyance as you sighed and hopped down off the fence, turning to face her. Shifting your weight, you shoved your hands into your back pockets before speaking.
“Oh, like you did when you made Pope drop the camera?.” You shrugged, jutting out your bottom lip. “Y’know, the one that had the video of Ward killing someone-”
“That wasn’t even my fault!” She defended.
“I think we all collectively agreed that it was…” You argued nonchalantly, shooting the girl a grimace before walking off in the direction of the parked truck that JJ was leaning against, watching the entire interaction occur.
Before you’d turned away you could’ve swore Kiara opened her mouth to reply, but one warning head shake from JJ and her lips were sealing themselves shut. You were about to open the passenger door when JJ’s hand gripped your upper arm, the blonde staring out in front of him with a stoic yet pointed look on his face.
“Can you let go of me-”
“Does that look voluntary?” He asked, tone deep. You followed his unwavering gaze to find a blonde woman and the man who opened the door leading Pope further into the yard behind the gate. Pope was looking back pitifully at the three of you as the man pushed him forward and the woman, a cane by her side and a limp in her walk, led them both further into the greenery.
“Not at all.” You practically whispered back, attempting to take a step forward when JJ tightened his grip.
“Hold on, hold on.” You turned to him an impatient and questioning look on your face, throwing a hand out as a way to ask ‘what?’. “They’re goin’ around the back alley.” He said hurriedly, rounding the driver’s side of the truck as you hopped in the passenger side, Kie piling in beside you. “We’ll meet ‘em on the other side.”
JJ started the car, driving it slowly in order to draw too much suspicion — with the Limbreys or surrounding neighbors. You could almost hear all three of your hearts beating in panicked unison with every turn made. You didn’t know what these people wanted with Pope, but if they didn’t drop this whole super secret act, they wouldn’t be getting anything.
Driving and driving, and still no Pope. JJ eyes were focused ahead as you and Kiara looked to the sides of the road for any sign of him. “Where did they go?” Kie asked, peering out of the window. She sounded sad. The trio of you continued driving around, Pope nowhere in sight. You were starting to get worried, extremely worried.
If the Limbreys were like the Camerons of Charleston, there was no telling what they could be doing with your friend right now.
“Okay, stop the car.” You said, putting your hands on the dashboard.
“What?” JJ asked, although he slowed the vehicle down, bringing it to a stop on the side of the road. You reached over key and threw the passenger door open before climbing over the girl. “Where the hell are you going-”
“Ouch, that’s my- Ow!” Kie shouted.
You threw yourself out of the vehicle before standing up and dusting yourself off, looking side to side before deciding to go back in the direction the alley was in. Even if you didn’t see Pope, there was a way in and there was no way in hell you weren’t taking it.
You set off quickly in the direction of the alley, Kiara and JJ calling out for you before two pairs of footsteps were trailing behind you. You passed a few people on the sidewalk, unintentionally shoulder-checking them in your haste.
“Watch it!”
“Hey! Rude…”
Reaching the alley, you made a sharp turn into the greenery. You could hear grunts and groans that stopped you in your tracks — you were no stranger to the sounds of violence. Your power walk turned into a sprint, pushing leaves and branches out of your path before reaching Pope, who was beating on the creep who opened the door.
He had him pinned down to the concrete, both of them reaching for what seemed to be a taser. Your eyes fleeted between the two brawling guys and the weapon before you decided to kick the object behind you in the direction of Kiara and JJ.
Pope delivered one last blow to the man’s face before getting up. “C’mon.” You demanded, being the first to run away, back in the direction of the truck. The four of you took the short way — hopping over a cement wall that guarded a small portion of the yard.
The car was a few feet away since you ditched the scenic route, the four of you wasting no time in jumping in. JJ in the driver’s seat with the three of you piled in as well.
“Who the hell were those people?” Kiara panicked, out of breath as she slammed the passenger door shut.
“I don’t know but they’re crazy as shit!” Pope’s voice cracked as he settled into the vehicle. “We need to get out of here now.” He warned, wide eyes drifting in JJ’s direction as the blonde started the engine and hit the gas almost all in one motion as the vehicle leaped forward, sending you all down the road.
Near moments after JJ had hit the gas, leaving a smoke trail in his wake, you looked behind you to see a car speeding behind you, the fishbowl windows allowing you to see the driver clearly. “Creepy guy recovers fast.” You panted, looking back ahead of you and prompting JJ to peek in the rearview mirror, pressing the gas a little harder.
“Here we go now!”
Heyward’s truck was going faster than you ever deemed possible, flying down the road. “Hey, JJ, slow down. This is a one-way.” Pope warned, the truck never slowing down. JJ was too focused to hear much of anything, you were gripping the seat for dear life. “This is a one-way!” Pope got louder as JJ started to reach a busier part of the town. A car suddenly appeared in front of you, the headlights blinding.
“Car, JJ! There’s a car!” You warned, grabbing a hold of the steering wheel yourself and making a right turn before the truck could collide with the SUV. Rounding the corner, you almost collided with two pedestrians — the two heads of blonde and light-brown hair looking eerily familiar for the slightest of moments.
“Jesus, look out!” Pope and Kiara said in unison as JJ took back control of the wheel and avoided hitting the two people.
“Get out of the road!” JJ shouted as he redirected the car on the street.
“Those were pedestrians!” Kiara reprimanded, gripping the passenger door for stability.
“That was evasive driving technique right there, y’all!” JJ patted himself on the back as you turned to look out of the rear window to see the man still hot on your trail.
“You sure about that ‘cause he’s still following us.” You warned, looking at the blonde for the briefest of moments.
“Hang on, I’ll lose him.” JJ assured you all, making a sharp turn that sent the three of you crashing into each other. Just as he turned into an empty alley, a pop sound following a hiss of air and smoke came from the truck. “I thought you said he fixed carburetor!”
“He did!” Pope said as the car came to a stop of its own.
“No, Pope, he clearly did not!” JJ retorted as he opened the door, Kie doing the same on the passenger side. The four of you got out of the truck, fanning the air and coughing.
“Number one rule, never trust mechanics.” JJ spoke mainly to himself as you all grabbed whatever you brought along with you out of the trunk of the car just as the car following you pulled in the alley as well. “Shit. Go, go, go!”
The four of you booked, the smoke hopefully giving you a bit of time as you ran through the alley. You and Kiara looked behind you as you ran, seeing the man get out of his own car and tuck something into his jacket.
“He has a gun.” You muttered, looking back ahead as you ran. “He has a fucking gun!”
Pope and JJ glanced behind themselves, past you and Kie to see the man not far behind. The squad of you picked up the pace, making the first turn available but you swore you heard someone calling your names.
The man was picking up the pace as well, getting closer to you all. “We might have to split up!” JJ suggested from the forefront of the group.
“Are you crazy?” You shouted, being right behind the blonde. “No way!” You continued, almost tripping over an unleveled section of the concrete. JJ, not paying attention, ran into a mailman, sending the packages in his hand flying into the air.
“Sorry ‘bout that!” He apologized over his shoulder. JJ led you all into another alley, this one much narrower causing you all to run in a line. The guy was falling behind, which was a plus.
Coming out of the alley, you all came face to face with a couple on a bike almost getting run over by them. But after taking a longer look at the two people who almost pummeled you all with their bike, your heart dropped farther down in your body than it ever has.
Every single one of your five senses seemed to cease to exist in this moment. You couldn’t hear anything, white noise filling your ears as your vision blurred on the edges, only allowing you to see what you could only logically explain as two ghosts standing in front of you — a very much alive John B Routeledge and Sarah Cameron standing in front of you, covering in mud and dirt and who knows what else.
Whatever breath you had been holding in your lungs released itself, the release of air allowing your senses to return, almost like coming up out of the water.
All of your expressions were somewhere in between a blank stare and a smile. You wanted to reach a hand out to see if they were real.
“...Get in. Get in! Get in!” John B broke the silence. His voice hadn’t changed. It was exactly like you remembered. The four of you did as he said, still partially in shock, piling into the bike. You, Kiara, and Sarah crowded into the cab of the pedicab as JJ and Pope pushed it from the back as John B pedaled as hard as he could.
You couldn’t take your eyes off of his back as he pedaled, unless of course it was to direct the same blank stare in Sarah’s direction. The Limbrey guy plus two other men were chasing the group of you now, JJ and Pope hopping onto the sides after it gained enough speed to ride smoothly with the six of you on it.
The entire ride to the boat, your friends were whooping and cheering. And on the inside you couldn’t be happier or more relieved at how well the universe seemed to work in your favor but for some reason, your body wasn’t so eager to show it on the outside.
For a whole month, you’d grieved someone who wasn’t dead.
Once you reached one of Ward’s boats the Sarah knew the location of — My Druthers Too, you all wasted no time jumping into it, sailing in the direction of The Outer Banks. Back home.

“i.. i didn’t know where else to go.”
here he was, dynamight himself, standing in-front of my front door with blood pooling his shirt.
i sputter. what do i even say in this situation? my boss was at my front door, looking intoxicated and like he was near to death.
“sir?” i say in nearly a whisper, “what.. what are you doing here?”
he groaned, and i couldn’t tell if it was from pain or not. “stop.. stop calling me that.” he huffs, clutching the doorframe harder, the wood sizzling.
“sorry—“ i catch myself, “um, dynamight.”
“don’t call me that shit either.” he stares me in the eye as he says, “just.. just call me katsuki. ‘don’t care.”
i meekly nod. we’re on a first name basis now?
not wanting my doorframe to burn off, i take his hand off my doorframe and sling his arm around my shoulders. when he leans his weight onto me, i nearly collapse but manage to keep myself composed.
to think we were just talking about him merely a few hours ago, and now he’s here, as if we summoned him like some sort of demon.
.. well, demon isn’t too far off.
i shut the door behind me, katsuki’s feet stumbling as i try to lead him towards the bathroom where i kept my medical aid.
i guess my year trying to be a nurse is paying off before i switched majors, as i still have the supplies and knowledge i gained from it.
“what the hell happened?” i ask, voice low as to not wake my un-suspecting roommate.
“ts’ guy at a bar, nggh!” he hisses as we drop a step, his hand unintentionally pushing farther into his wound. i mutter an apology.
he’s breathing heavily, like he’s gasping for air. i can feel his biceps clench with every walk we take, his sharp exhale at every step he as to walk on his left-injured side.
clearing my throat, i prompt, “guy at a bar?”
“had a.. a fuckin mouth onim’.” he says heavily, “put that pussy in his place.”
if dynamight is this bad.. i wonder how the guy he was fighting was looking like right now.
“as your assistant.. fuck you for causing another scene.” i say, kicking open the bathroom door, “as your temporary.. friend, good for you.”
i cringe at the word friend. friend seems weird — off.
“good for me, my ass.” he hisses as i place him against the counter, pushing his torso to tell him to sit.
he does.
the reality of the situations continues to dawn on me; my boss is in my house, in my proximity that i live in everyday. i shower in this very bathroom. it felt.. weird.
i clear my throat, trying to ignore the butterflies of anxiousness in my stomach.
“katsuki,” i test, the name unfamiliar on my tongue, “take off your shirt.” from my peripheral vision, i can see him smirk. i send a look his way, face flushing in embarrassment.
“not like.. like that.” i stutter, “‘just take off your damn shirt.”
he stares at me, blinks, then tuts his tongue and says—“yes, ma’am.”—weak, shaken hands gripping the end of his shirt and pulling it over his head in one clean move.
it both irritates me and confuses me how simply he had done it.
he drops it in the floor, too weak to care where he put it—conveniently on my brand new white bathmat.
i try to ignore how it irritates me.
“i’ll buy you.. a new one.” he breathes, falling back against the marble wall, touching a hand to the wound on his stomach and hissing a breath through his teeth.
i rummage through the drawer of supplies, purposefully avoiding looking his way out of respect — and for my own sanity.
luckily, sutures was the unit we last worked on before i switched majors, meaning the information was still fairly fresh in my mind.
taking a step closer to the hero, i smell a waft of alcohol seep off of his skin. whiskey, no doubt.
i clear my throat. “i didn’t peg you for a whiskey guy.” i say, hoping to clear some of the overwhelming awkwardness.
he grimaces when i touch an alcohol pad around the wound, cleaning the dried blood surrounding the cut.
“i’m any typa’ guy on the right occasion.” he gives a toothy grin as he says this, abs flexing from my touch.
i blink. finally meeting his eyes, i realize just how close our bodies were, my hands on his torso, standing between his legs as he sits on the counter.
i knew he was supposed to be fit considering his work involved constantly pushing his body to the brink, but man.
he was toned, abs chiseled, biceps molded and flexing with every touch to his wound. his body resembled that of a god, and even if his body was bruised and broken it still looked perfect.
his eyes are piercing, ruby-bright red paired with a shiny, toothy grin placed between his lips.
“whatcha starin’ at, hm?” he slurs. i can feel the breathe from his lips.
my eyes flick away. i murmur a, “..nothing”, clearing my throat and picking up the needle to suture the wound. "so.. what happened for you to get this wound?"
"you're really beautiful, y'know that?" katsuki breathes, eyes scanning over my face.
"what?" i flush, momentarily freezing.
he chuckles, the scent of alcohol seeping over my face as he breathes out, "everyday, when you show up in those outfits ya got.. drives me insane.."
i am unsure what to do. staring into katsuki's eyes, i can see he's totally out of it; he doesn't mean any of this, it's just the alcohol talking!
.. then again, drunk words are sober thoughts.
i scoff, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear as i rip my gaze away. "you're drunk, katsuki," slowly, i am getting used to the name, "you're just talking nonesense."
"i'd never lie t' a pretty girl like you." he says, leaning closer, dangerously close. "anyone ever tell ya you got the most beautiful eyes?"
he reaches a hand toward me, tipping my chin up to look at him, rough and calloused hands scraping against the skin across my jaw.
suddenly, the room is too hot, his touch is too hot and i can feel myself slowly going insane. i find myself wanting more, more, his hands all over--
no! what the hell am i saying, he's drunk, and unlike himself. once he sobers up, he'll realize how stupid his words were.
but oh, his touch was addicting.
"katsuki.." i whisper, feeling his hand slowly move across my collarbone. he leans toward me, his lips resting over my ear, his breath on my skin flowing down my neck. so warm, so soothing.
"y'know, everyday when you show up in them' jeans ya wear.." he inhales, the sound loud in my ear, "makes me so fucking turned on."
i take a deep breath, trying to compose myself, trying to resist; he wouldn't want this, not if he were sober.
i swallow, "katsuki." i say with more certainty.
"mm, say that again." he rasps, kissing just below my ear with such gentleness i am surprised. his lips are hot, wet, his tongue dragging softly over my skin. i feel my body heat up, having to lean against the counter because i was afraid my legs would give out.
resist. resist, all you have to do is push away.
"you.. you wouldn't want this if you were sober." i huff, my face a bright, hot pink of fluster.
a chuckle comes from his chest, "this is all i want when i'm sober. all i can think 'bout, girl."
he pulls away from my neck, and i sigh in relief before opening my eyes to see him right in-front of me. his hand grabs my chin, slanting my head to the side, waiting painfully close as if to wait for me to make the first move.
and i know it's bad. the cliche of bosses sleeping with their assistants always irked me, and considering i was an assistant for dynamight i never considered he would ever sleep with me.
but now... if what he is saying is true, my predictions were nothing but the complete opposite.
and all i can think is: well, fuck, as i crash my lips against his. his mouth is hot, fiery, just as i assumed it to be. his tongue instantly pushes against mine, teeth grazing each other as our lips meet in a hasty battle.
tongues dancing against each other, i am instantly overwhelmed. kissing has never been this sweet, this passionate with my previous partners. a raw, thick naturalness comes between katsuki and i, as if being this close to one another was simply fate.
"this is.. bad--!" i mutter between the breathes we are forced to take, his hand instead finding my hips and pulling me against the counter. i am forced to stand on my tippy-toes as his other hand finds my hair, grasping it as if to hold him to reality.
i understand that much. i feel like if it weren't for his grasp on my skin, i would simply be in a dream instead of this being a reality.
and if this is a dream, i don't think i want to ever wake up.
i bring a hand up to his torso, my hand accidentally grazing over his wound. he groans into my lips, hand clutching my hair even tighter, yet he doesnt stop his assault to dominate my mouth.
i gasp. he's wounded! what am i thinking?!
gathering all the restraint in my body, i push away from him, my back slamming into the wall behind me. i finally take a breath, heavy pants leaving my mouth as i stare at him.
a groan of frustration leaves his lips, his back falling against the wall. it seemed the dopamine had allowed the affect of the wound to become nothing more than a little thorn in his side, but now that it had run out the pain started coming back.
"please.." katsuki whispers, "'feels better when yer kissing me.."
then, there's a knock on the door.
"y/n? is everything alright in there?" mina's voice comes from outside the door.
i look between katsuki and the door, seeing his love-drunk eyes and his current state; anyone with eyes could see he was aroused, not to mention the prominent boner tenting his pants.
"uh—“ i say, "yeah I’m—i'm okay." i say back, clearing my throat, "jus' go back to bed, mina."
"you sure..? you're talking kinda weird, i'm just gonna come in—“
"no!' i panic, before realizing my tone was still suspicious.
"that' the acid freak from school?" katsuki's brows furrow, "what's that brat doin' here?"
"who's that?!" mina calls from outside the door, "wait.. thats—!"
"OKAY!" i yell in frustration, "i'm opening the door!"
i slowly crack open the door, quickly closing it behind me and leaving katsuki in the bathroom.
mina’s eyes are wide. “what. the fuck. is katsuki bakugo doing in our apartment at three in the morning?!”
i sigh, rubbing a hand over my face, “i don’t know. he just.. he just came to the front door, injured.”
“so.. bring him to the hospital!” mina says in a duh tone.
“how do you think it’d look if his assistant was with him at three in the morning?” i say in a whisper-yell, “look, it’s just a simple cut. i can suture it up, and he’ll be fine by the morning.”
she shifts on her feet, uneasy. “okay. but it still feels weird.”
i run a hand over my face, “yeah, i know. it is weird.”
she eyes me, her head slanting ever so slightly. “are you alright? you look all… flustered..” then, her eyes widen as if in a realization, “wait—!”
before she can speak, i cut her off. “okayimleavingnowbye!” i sputter, rushing toward the bathroom and closing it behind me.
i inhale a deep breath, face flushing at the idea of being caught making out with my boss.
“how about you uh.. do me a favour and stitch me up now, huh, princess?” katsuki smiles as he says this.
i turn to him. “don’t call me that.”
“uh-huh.”

Little Girl Gone Part 2 (Steddie X You)
Tumblr media
Part 1 Here
Warnings: Mafia Gangster Eddie/ Officer (Slightly Mean) Steve/ Fem Doctor Reader, SMUT, dirty talk, degrading (lightly), choking, spanking, Slight FLUFF, they like her
ANGST: Obviously (and not just cause I'm me), Boys interrogate Andrew (mentions of punching him and making him bleed, stabbing his hand), mentions of shootings, mentions of Child Abuse (definitely trigger warning), Eddie talks about an incident with his father that lead to him "getting his ass beat", mentions of Andrews abuse upbringing. Eddie talks about his fears of having another partner brought into his particular life style. Steve get a little short with the reader in the beginning but he apologizes. Cliffhanger ending again because I can :)
Word Count: 6818
“Not if we shoot you first.”
At Eddie’s words, you cocked the gun and pulled the trigger.
The man in front of you screamed in pain as Steve grabbed his arm and pried the weapon from his hand, shoving him to the ground. He hastily passed it to the gangster before stepping over the person you had just shot in the shoulder.
“Y/N, give me that.” The adrenaline and fear of what you just did coursed through you as your hands shook. You knew he was speaking but you couldn’t understand a word. “Y/N! GIVE ME THE GUN NOW!”
A heavy exhale left his lips as you pointed the weapon at him causing him to pause as he held his hands up once again.
“Honey, everything’s ok. Hey, look at me. No. Don’t look at him. Focus on me, baby.”, Steve cooed as your eyes constantly flicked to the gangster in pain and bleeding on your living room floor. “I’m sorry I shouted. I’m not angry with you and neither is Eddie. Right, Ed?”
“That’s right, sweetheart.”
“See? You did good, baby girl. Now, remember what we said about letting us take control?” Tears began to stream down your cheeks as you nodded eliciting a soft smile from him. “Good. That’s good. Can you let us take care of this for you? Can you give me my gun, Y/N?”
Slowly, he inched closer to you, extending one of his hands as he continued to whisper praise.
“Good. Good, baby. You’re so brave. I’m going to grab the gun now, ok?”
You nod your head a bit to aggressively and once again he smiles as he reaches for his weapon. After gradually removing it from your grip, Steve yanks you to him as he firmly presses your face into his chest.
“Everything’s going to be ok, Y/N. I promise. Stay right here with Ed and I’m going to grab my radio real quick just to make sure no one calls in the noise. I’ll be right back, ok?”, he instructed, running down the hallway once you confirmed.
“Hey. How did you know where we were?”, Eddie growled from his place on his heels beside the other man. When he didn’t respond, he roughly grabbed his collar and tugged him upright. “Answer me.”
Andrew spit in the gangster’s face and he threw him back down, kicking him in the stomach for good measure.
“Alright, here’s some pants, honey. I want you to get dressed and put on some shoes. You’re coming with us.”
“We should take her to my loft. The boys and I can watch out for her till we get all this resolved.”
“Am I not safe?”
Both sets of eyes turned to glance your way at your question and before they said a word you knew the answer.
“Definitely not now after you shot one of Jason’s men.”, Andrew laughed sarcastically. “As soon as he finds out, he’s going to send people to rip you apart, you fucking whore!”
Steve stepped towards him, pressing his foot against the bullet wound making the man howl in pain.
“Shut. Up.” After his last word, the officer punched him in the face so hard it knocked the man out. “Y/N, come on. I need you to focus! Put these on and grab your shoes—”
You palm collided with his cheek hard and Eddie hastily placed himself between you two.
“This is all your fault! I told you I never wanted to see either of you again!”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t hear you protesting last night!”
“Fuck you, Steven!”
“You don’t get to fucking call me by my name like that, little girl. You will show me the respect I fucking deserve!”
“HEY!”, Eddie bellowed, silencing you both. “Steve, grab this asshole and put him in the trunk of your cruiser. We’ll interrogate him in my building. Do you think you can manage that?”
With his eyes never leaving your own, he nodded before turning to do what the gangster commanded. Once the officer was out of sight, he faced you, gaze and tone equally as intense.
“Put on your clothes and pack anything you may need for the next couple of days. After we find out how he knew where we were and make sure it’s safe, you can come back home.” When you started to protest, his eyes darkened to a level that told you it was time to listen. “This isn’t a negotiation. You’re coming with us. Now, we’ll be leaving in 15 minutes whether you have a bag or not so I would stop wasting time and do as we say. Do I make myself clear?”
Scoffing in annoyance, you begin to head towards your bedroom to pack but a ringed hand abruptly grabbed your bicep holding you in place.
“I said do I make myself clear? I don’t like being ignored.”
“And I don’t like random gangsters breaking into my apartment.”, you sass.
His eyes continued to bore into yours as his grip remained steadfast; neither of you willing to back down.
“This is the second time in two days you’ve saved my life.” Eddie’s sentence threw you off guard as a shaky, nervous breath escaped your lips at his change in tone. “I’d like to return the favor by saving yours.” Releasing his hold on you, you gave him one final glance before running to your bedroom.
***
The Munson gang ran an entire area of Hawkins but the head himself had an entire building dedicated to him and his business. It was common knowledge that this was a place meant for certain people for certain reasons but rumors around town said police could never get a warrant or find anything incriminating to seize it and arrest people inside.
“Stay by me and don’t say a word.”, Eddie commanded, flashing you a comforting smile when you nodded.
Steve parked his cruiser around back, taking a side entrance so no one would see him going in, let alone with one of the rival gang’s men over his shoulder.
As you entered through the front door, the gangster’s entire demeanor shifted into a more authoritative one as he stood up as straight as he could and hardened his features.
“Hey, Mr. Munson. We were really worried about you.”, a doorman greeted at the front desk.
“I’m fine, Marcus. No reason to worry. I’m going to my loft; can you make sure no one bothers me? I don’t care if it’s the fucking mayor. Tell ‘em Edward Munson is busy.”
“Yes, sir.”
You watch with wide eyes as he motions for a man in a security uniform with his finger and whispers something you can’t hear into his ear. As you both stroll towards the elevator, a bunch of men run past you and exchange words with the man before disappearing from your view.
As the doors close, Eddie pushes the top floor button, noticing your eyes scan the other floors.
“These two floors are for men that work for me. Most of them are people who can’t afford homes or a place to stay so I set them up here. This one is for the kids and people to relax. There’s a pool there and a bar for everyone to have a good time. In this job you need to know when to let go and let your hair down.”, he smiles softly as he continues. “The floor above that is where we keep supplies and do planning if we need to. I have an office there as well that I work from when meeting with partners and things like that. And this…”
The elevator door dings as it opens to a small hallway leading to a door that the man opens and gestures for you to enter.
“This is my apartment.”
Your jaw drops as you step inside and marvel at the gothic style décor of the massive space he called home. There were many feets of open space filled with black furniture to match the setting. Along the walls were different guitars as well as media posters including multiple bands you imagined were his favorites. Near the open kitchen area was a set of stairs that led directly to his open bedroom where you were able to see a huge comfy looking mattress next to a window and a nightstand with some books you couldn’t make out from where you were standing.
“This place is gorgeous.”
“Thank you, sweetheart. Definitely a step up from a trailer.”
Steve banged the front door open as he wrestled with the man in his grip and tossed him roughly to the floor.
“He was awake when I opened my trunk.”, he grunted in frustration as he headed towards the dining room table to grab a chair.
“Y/N, why don’t you put your stuff on the couch and go to that fourth floor I mentioned. There’s a kitchen and you can—”
“I’d like to stay…please…”
Eddie’s eyes scanned you carefully as he delicately took hold of both your arms.
“Pretty girl, what’s about to happen isn’t going to be pleasant. You’ve already dealt with and seen enough these past few days.”
“I’ve seen a lot most of life.”, you breathily chuckle. “Especially in my field. I just…this involves me to and I want to know how worried I should be. Plus…”, you glance towards the officer who was tying the rival gangster to his seat. “I’m scared and I feel like the safest place for me to be is next to you two. You promised me that…that you’d keep me safe.”, you whisper.
After pushing some of your hair behind your ear, he kissed your forehead before heading towards a closet off to the side. As Steve backed away from Andrew, it was just then that you noticed his chest was bare except for his holster making you salivate at how delicious he genuinely looked. The sound of his throat clearing brought you back to reality when your eyes landed his smirking face.
“Caught you.”
“I was, um, I was looking at your abs—”
“I bet you were.”
“At your bruises, officer.” His grin grew as he placed himself in front of you. “You’re going to aggravate your wounds if you keep doing things like this.”
“Doing what? Lifting people over my shoulder?” His strong palms take hold of your hips, picking you up, and placing you on the kitchen counter nearby. “I think I’ll be ok. Look, I’m…I’m sorry I was short with you back there. What you did was incredibly brave.”
“I forgive you. I’m sorry I smacked you.”, you murmur as you cup his face causing Steve to sigh happily as his eyes fluttered shut.
“Are you sure you want to be here for this, honey? It’s not just what we’re about to do to this man but who we have to become.”
His eyebrows raise in surprise when he feels your lips softly connect with his own before his eyes open again to meet yours.
“I want to see it.”
Nodding, he removes his holster and places it beside you just as Eddie comes up beside him, handing him some brass knuckles.
“I want you to know, Y/N, that what you are about to see is NEVER a way we would talk to or treat you. You never have a reason to be afraid of us.”
Eddie’s tone was a mixture of soft but strong as if he desperately needed you to understand this. It made you wonder if past relationships they had been in especially himself were scared away by the behavior they were about to display. Or maybe this particular man had experienced behavior like this on himself from someone he trusted.
Again, you weren’t sure what it was about these men but you trusted them when they said this even reaching for the gangster’s face and kissing his lips.
Flashing one last comforting smile, you watched as their faces slowly fell, their eyes darkening as they slipped into a particular headspace and turned around to face the unlucky man tied to the chair.
***
“You know, I think it’s funny…that you two keep lying to this woman…you and I both know you can’t keep her safe.”, Andrew chuckles as he throws his head back to glare up at them. “You couldn’t even keep him safe!”, he sasses as his eyes gesture towards Steve.
They both smile at each other and Eddie places his hands on his knees as he dips his head into the man’s eyeline.
“How did you know where we were?”
“Lucky guess?”
You jumped as Steve’s fist flew, hitting the gangster in the face so hard that blood flew from his lips.
“I always find it funny myself that Jason keeps men like you around who have zero insight whatsoever.” As Eddie spoke the officer continued to deliver blows to different parts of Andrew’s body. “Because if you did, you’d realize how much trouble you’re actually in.”
“Fuck…you…”
“How did you know where we were?”
Another witty retort, another punch delivered. They went around like this for a while with both men getting nowhere. As your eyes scanned the rival gangster, you noticed even with considerable amount of damage he received, he didn’t seem to be phased at all. While this lifestyle was rough and Andrew had probably been punched many times there was no way he could still be as cognitive as he was.
“Were you beat up a lot as a kid?” Your voice cut through the chaos as all the men glanced your way. “Since you were a child, maybe?”
Steve’s eyes scanned the bleeding man as his jaw clenched and he tried to sit up straighter. He had seen this before many times in interrogations. You were on to something.
“H-Hurting him like this won’t get through to him. He should be at the very least passed out by now but it’s kind of like a built-up tolerance. He’s been through this already and since he’s still so young… I would assume either he was bullied—”
“Which wouldn’t be the case, would it, Mr. Jock-I’m-Best-Friends-with-a-Prom-King?”, the cop teased.
“…Or he grew up with it in his house.”
Eddie’s gaze shifted from you back to Andrew as he folded his arms and waited for a response.
“Well look at that, Andy. It looks like you and I have some things in common.”
The gangster casually reached into his pocket and flipped open his switch blade eliciting a small whine from you at the action as the veins in arm flexed while holding it to the man’s throat. Why was that so fucking hot?
“Your father was a businessman if I’m not mistaken, just like my friend here.”, he muses as he pats Steve’s shoulder. “From the stories I’ve heard from him, I’m not surprised your dad was an asshole. Me on the other hand, I had the head of a mafia corporation as a parent. Trust me, Al definitely knew how to teach me and my mom a lesson.” The knife he was holding gradually traveled down Andrew’s chest to his stomach.
“One day while he was at work, I stole a pack of cigarettes from his nightstand thinking with how much that man smokes he’d never notice. Joke was on me because when he got home, he dragged me out of bed and threatened to cut off my fingers if I didn’t tell him the truth.”
Abruptly, Eddie slams the blade into the man’s hand making him scream before Steve covered his mouth.
“I told him what he wanted to hear and fucker still beat my ass.”, he laughs sarcastically. “How did you know where we were.” When all Andrew did was cry and whine, he twisted the knife causing him more pain.
“I followed you! I fucking followed Steve from the station! Goddamn it!”
“Did you tell Jason where you were going?”
“NO! The last time I called him was as this fucking dumbass left! Jason told me, to grab you and kill Steve if he got in the way! I didn’t even know anyone else was in the apartment! If I had I would have fucking taken her out.”, he spat through gritted teeth. “Jason doesn’t care about your fucking whores, you fucking dick!”
As Andrew kept shouting obscenities, Eddie slowly moved till he was standing directly in front of you and his fingers reached out to caress your cheek.
“But, oh, just you wait! Because when I tell him what happened, he’s going to torture them both in front of you so you can watch them fucking suffer! Sweetheart, I don’t know what these assholes promised you but I assure you aligning yourself with them is the biggest mistake you’ll ever making make!”
“Close your eyes, baby.”
As soon as you do what he says, you squeak and cover your ears as the deafening sound of a gun rings loud through the room.
“Don’t open them until one of us says, ok?”
You nod as you listen to them move quickly around you. Eddie makes a phone call to a couple of his men and murmurs instructions to them when they come up to his home. Mid way through everything, you feel strong arms grip your wrists to wrap your arms around a sweat dripping neck.
“It’s alright, honey. It’s just me. Hold on tightly, alright?”, Steve cooed as he lifted you off the counter and carried you up the stairs before placing you on a mattress. “You can open your eyes now.”
As you carefully pry them open, you are met with the officer’s soft honey irises as he kneeled in front of you on his knees. After removing your shoes and pants, he notices your hands that you had placed in your lap were subtly shaking.
“Everything’s ok, baby girl. He was just shouting those things to rattle you. Andrew was never the carefullest criminal. I know he was Jason’s friend but I’m surprised he kept him around with all the mistakes that kid made.” His large hands cover your own as his thumbs comfortingly rub against your skin. “Eddie and I aren’t like that. We are very meticulous especially when it comes to each other. We aren’t going to let anyone fucking hurt you.”
You only muster a small nod before Steve tilts you back against the pillow and pulls the covers up to your shoulders.
“Steve? Will you stay with me please?”
“Yeah, um, let me clean up a bit.”
Once everything was resolved, Eddie exhaustedly climbed up his stairs, taking off his shirt and tossing it aside before freezing at the sight in front of him. You and his boyfriend were fast asleep on his bed with you seemingly gripping his hand for dear life. Steve had placed his arm around your waist but you intertwined your fingers with his own and clung to his arm like child holds a teddy bear. He was the big spoon to your little one and for the first time in a long while the man he loved seemed to be sleeping peacefully.
Carefully, he slid in beside you, kicking his shoes gently to the floor, and drifting off to sleep himself.
############
“10-4 that’s a negative on Officer Harrington. If anyone gets eyes on him please be advised the captain is looking for him.”
Steve’s eyes groggily shot open just as Eddie rolled over to unclip the walkie from his vest on the floor and hand it to him just above your head.
“Yeah, hey 10-4. Officer Harrington here. Does…Does he need me to come in?”
“For your shift? Yes, he would appreciate that.”
Checking his watch, he bolted awake and jumped from the bed to hastily put on his clothes.
“Shit. I’m sorry. I overslept. These 48hr days are killing me. Tell the captain I’m on my way! Over and out.”
“Are you late, Steven?”, Eddie joked as he cracked his eyes open to watch the man fumble with his wardrobe.
“Fucking…woman is like a valium. I’ve never slept so…heavy in my life.”, he mumbled as he threw on his vest and double checked to make sure all his equipment was attached.
“Is it her or the long hours you’ve been working lately to protect me?”
“Is she staying with you today?”
“Way to avoid the question, sweetheart. That’s up to her. Since Jason and the rest of them don’t know about her she can go home and we can follow through with leaving her be.”
Steve paused, letting his shoes dangle in his hand as what the man was saying fully sunk in.
“Oh, I guess you’re right. I just, um…”
Eddie’s eyes fully open as he sits up and leans his head on the officer’s shoulder while comfortingly rubbing his back.
“I know. I like her to but she really needs to think about if this is a life she wants to be a part of. We didn’t exactly have a choice but she does.”
***
When you wake up, you find yourself alone in bed again but as the familiar panic washed over you, the smell of bacon and eggs settles your worried brain. Glancing beside you, you notice your bag was put on a chair near the bed as well as a towel as if to silently inform you that you could take a shower before coming down if you wished.
Grabbing your things, you tiptoe into the bathroom and quickly change. When you finally pause and exhale a nervous breath, your gaze shifts taking in the beautiful area before you. The claw tub was exceptionally huge with an equal size attached standing shower. The black tile matched the décor of the rest of the apartment with the white contrast of everything else making the furniture stand out.
As you pulled up your hair, you took in the items on the sink in front of you taking amusement in the fact that none of it looked expensive. You’d figure as a man who owned this kind of space and ran an entire gang, EVERYTHING he owned would be top-notch. Not to say that you didn’t enjoy the smell of Eddie’s cologne or Steve’s travel sized bottle of hair product. You weren’t the type of woman that needed lavish things and appreciated the fact that it didn’t seem like they did either.
After spraying on your own body spray, you tossed your things to the floor and took a seat on the bed to slide on your shoes. You didn’t mean to be noisy but you couldn’t help being curious as you took in the things around you. On the wall directly across from you was a framed poster for the movie “Evil Dead” and directly beside that a guitar with a signature scrawled across that you couldn’t make out from where you were.
On the nightstand were regular things such as a clock, cigarettes with an ashtray, and a book you assumed was fantasy by the fantastical cover but a framed photo caught your eye as you lifted it to take a closer look.
It was an image of the officer and the gangster in bed holding each other with Steve asleep just below Eddie’s bare chest. His tattooed arm extended out in front of him to get them both in frame as he softly grinned while playing with the other man’s hair.
Smiling to yourself you placed the image back down where you found it and quietly opened the drawer below. Your eyes flicked to the gun that was nestled there, ignoring it as you flipped through some papers you found with words that made no sense and sketches of he and his boyfriend in oddly sexy looking Renaissance style garb.
“Steven Harrington, the salacious, handsome Paladin came to bring justice to Rouge Edward Munson but little did he know that this particular man had a little magic up his sleeve seducing the knight and falling love. Edward had never been in love before but he knew after that night in the Paladin’s carriage, he would do anything for him.”
“I love you to, you nerd.”
You giggle at what you assume is Steve’s comment and place the papers back in the drawer. Near the back was a photo album and your smile grew as you looked at the images within.
“Hm. Steve was right. You are nosey girl.”, Eddie scolded in a light tone as leaned against the railing by the stairs.
“You really love him don’t you?”, you ask, flashing him a picture of the officer rolling his eyes with a smile as the long-haired man laid himself over his shoulders, locking his hands lazily around his neck.
“Yeah, I do.”, he answers as he comes to sit beside you. “I honestly never thought I would…fall in love you know…and definitely not with a fucking cop but…like that saying says, ‘You can’t control who you fall in love with.’”
The gangster’s eyes carefully watch your face as you continue to flip through the images of them together, only looking away when he noticed you blink as your head tilted. The photo you were looking at was what you guessed was a younger Eddie in front of a woman in a beautiful pink gown with wavy curls like his own. He was grimacing as she kissed his cheek but that didn’t erase the happiness that emitted from his demeanor.
“Is this your mom?”, you ask and he affirms. “You look like her.”
“Heh. Thank you, princess. You have no idea how much hearing that means to me.” Turning the page, you find a couple more images of them together but as you continue forward you notice his body language change as a 10-year-old Eddie is standing between two men that look vaguely like him. “That was taken right before my dad left me with my uncle.”
“What happened to your mom?”
“She died.”, he sighed as he suddenly grabbed the album from your hand and put it away. “Come on, I made you something to eat.”
After following him down, you place yourself on one of the stools and wait patiently for him to slide a plate in front of you with a cup of coffee. You mutter thanks as you begin to eat trying to ignore the fact that the gangster’s chocolate-colored irises were once again burning a hole into your skin as he stared at you.
“When I was six.” Eddie stated matter-of-factly as he leaned over the island close to where you were sitting and continued. “My mother died when I was six. I lived with my dad after that but…let’s just say he wasn’t the best father.”
“Was the story you told last night real?” When he nods, a sad sigh leaves you. “I’m so sorry, Eddie.”
He shrugs brushing off the feeling of sadness that always washes over him when he talks about this topic.
“So, yeah, since it seems the Carver’s don’t know about you…I can take you home…and you’ll never hear from us again. I’m, uh, sorry about everything. I promise you won’t get in trouble or anything like that.”
“Oh. Do you want me to leave?”
“No…but I don’t want you to feel trapped either.”, he sighs. “Y/N, we like you so much. I know you said we don’t know you and I understand that but there’s something about you…” When he pauses, you watch as he stands up straighter and hardens his expression like he did when you two first walked into his building. “Steve and I had no choice in the life we chose. Like I told you the other night, I’m a gangster; I kill people. Steve’s killed people and done some other terrible shit that could get him put in prison for the rest of his life. We’re both assholes and as I’m sure you’ve notice have tempers at times. We like to control as much as we can which is hot as hell in the bedroom but can be infuriating anywhere else.”
Stepping around to your side of the island, he swiveled your stool till your body was facing his as his fingers gripped your chin.
“If you stay you’re ours. No one would hurt you or disrespect you because you’d be ours and everyone knows not to mess with things that belong to me.” Your breathing stuttered as his thumb grazes your lips. “We like that you’re strong with a bit of an attitude but you seem like you can also submit and listen which is perfect for men like us. Because that tells me you can handle us, not just out there but under the covers as well.”
Your eyes close as the tip of his nose grazes yours, the humid air from his breath warming your lips.
“Or anywhere else we feel like having you. Against your apartment wall, in the back of Steve’s police car, or even… on this countertop.”
Grabbing his face, you bring his lips to your own mewling at the taste of his tongue as it glides along your own. There was an immediate sense of urgency in your movements as if you didn’t have him now you would implode.
“Wait… your cut—”
“It’s fine. I’m fine. Trust me. Fuck.”, he groans, pulling you out of your chair and spinning you around to bend your top half over the marble in front of you.
Eddie hastily yanks down your pants and panties before fumbling to free his cock from his shorts and spitting in his hand as he strokes it along his length. With his palm pressed to the small of your back, you both moan as he runs his tip between your folds, collecting your slick, and guides himself into your core.
“Oh fuck. Steve was right. Fuck, princess, your pussy is so fucking tight.”
“Eddie…”
“Yeah, baby? Does my dick feel good?” You whine at his question, your hips pushing back to meet his thrusts allowing him to hit that sensitive inside of you that has your eyes rolling as your head hangs. As one of his palms abruptly smacks your ass, the other grabs a handful of your hair, and tugs you backwards till your feel his lips against the shell of your ear.
“I asked you something, little girl. When I ask you something I expect a fucking answer. Does my dick feel good stretching your tight little pussy open?”
“I…I can’t…”
Eddie grumbles through clenched teeth as he wraps his arms around you; one looping around your tummy and the other across your chest so his hand can lightly grip your throat. He pressed your back against him and you whimper as he rolls his hips slower but harder, slamming his cock impossibly deep into your cunt.
“You can’t what? You—fuck—you can’t fucking use your words to answer me? Aw, poor pathetic little girl. So dumb off my cock she can’t even speak.” The palm near your stomach travels between your legs and slaps your clit making you jump. “And so sensitive to. I like that.”
Turning your head slightly, you press your forehead against his cheek and Eddie dips his chin so his lips can kiss yours.
“Y-Your cock…your cock feels so…so fucking good, Eddie!” You rush out your last few words making him grin as he pushes you back down against the counter and pounds into you.
“Cum for me, pretty girl. I want to feel you squeeze me.”
Your hands clung to the counter as your body shook and you came hard around him. The gangster grunted at the feeling chasing his high until you heard him moan your name under his breath and feel his release warm your insides.
After he pulled out, you turned your body to face his right as his forehead leaned against your own. Eddie’s eyes were still closed as he continued to pant, his palms resting under your shirt against your lower back.
“I’m afraid.”, he murmured throwing you off.
What could a man like him possibly be afraid of? His eyes gradually opened meeting your confused ones before continuing.
“I wasn’t prepared for Steve nor was I prepared for how much I would come to love and care about him. I would kill for that man and if anyone took him away from me…” He exhaled heavily, shaking his head as if to wipe away the thought entirely. “Like I said, there’s something about you… we weren’t prepared for you either and the way I feel about you after these few days… I’m afraid to be vulnerable like that again. Not just for me but for my business. Another vulnerability is another thing someone can use against me. It’s not just about me when it comes to this gang. I have a lot of people that need me and look up to me…sort of like your patients.”
Your hands cup his face as you tenderly lean forward to kiss his lips.
“Maybe…we all have some thinking to do. I know you said you didn’t have a choice in your lives but you both very much did and do. Being a doctor was who I was meant to be but I very much had a choice of where I opened my clinic and the people I help. I could have turned you both away… I knew Steve wasn’t going to hurt me… but I helped you…”
Eddie nodded in understanding, backing away from you as you two got fully clothed again.
“Would you like me to drive you home?”
“Please.”
###############
Steve exhaustedly sauntered into Eddie’s loft, pulling off his gear and everything he didn’t need as he tossed them on the couch.
“Hey you.”, the long-haired man smiled as he came down the stairs and tenderly kissed the officer as both men fell onto the sofa behind them.
“How was your day?”
“Long. They’re still looking into Carver’s men being murdered but at some point they’ll give up. The higher ups honestly prefer to let you guys duke it out on your own.”
“Did they mention Andrew?”
“No but it’s too soon for Jason to really be worried yet. I imagine you’ll hear from him before we do.” Steve smiled softly as Eddie’s fingers gently ran through his tussled hair and petted his head. “How’s Y/N?”
“She’s good. We had a bit of a talk today and then I took her back to her apartment—”
“You what?”, the officer interrupted in a sharp tone. “So that’s it? You just said a few words and that was that?! You just took her home?!”
“Steve, calm down—”
“NO! Don’t tell me to calm down!”, he shouts as he rises to his feet.
“I thought we agreed that if she wanted to go home and be left alone we would honor that.”
“You didn’t even let me get a chance to say how I feel!”
“Oh? How DO you feel, sweetheart? What would you say if she was here right now?”
“I’d say that I fucking care about her! I think she’s witty and kind... She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my entire life. Besides you, I’ve never wanted to protect and take care of someone more than I do her. Every day I go out there and risk my life but no one fucking cares except you which is one of the many things I love about you. She makes me feel the same way. I feel like she genuinely cares if I’m in pain or hurting.”
“She’s a doctor, babe.”
“It’s more than that, Ed, and I know you know that. FUCK! I wanted to get to know her better. Now she’s going to think we just used her for her clinic and sex. I hate that that’s the last idea she has of us.”
“I don’t think that at all.”
Steve’s head whipped around at your words finding you at the bottom of the staircase in similar pajamas they saw you in when you were watching over Eddie.
“You didn’t let me finish so I thought I’d let you get it all out.”, the gangster smirked. “I was going to tell you I took her back to her apartment because she asked to get a couple of things so she could stay with us for a few days.”
“So we CAN talk and get to know each other better.”
Relief painted Steve’s face as he listened to you speak before determination darkened his eyes and he strides confidently towards you, lifting you into his arms, and carrying you back up the stairs.
Tossing you onto Eddie’s bed, you couldn’t help but giggle as he roughly but needily tore off your clothes as his lips roamed all over your skin.
“I told you, sweetheart, passionate with a good heart.”, Eddie teases as he takes a seat in the chair beside the mattress.
You grinned his way as Steve sucked and nibbled on your neck, his pant covered cock grinding against your core as you wrapped your legs around his waist.
“Fuck. Did you get to feel her today?”, the officer groaned towards his boyfriend as your lips picked up where he left off, trailing down his jawline while your fingers unhooked his belt and tried to push down his trousers.
“I did and you were right.”, the gangster answered as he leaned forward to capture Steve’s lips. “Her pussy is too fucking good and so tight especially when she comes. Just like you, baby.”
You and Steve moan loudly as you grip his length and guide him into your dripping heat making Eddie’s smirk widen as he licks his lips.
“There you go, pretty boy. Fuck her harder with that big, thick cock. Little girl doesn’t mind it rough, do you baby?” The moment your head shakes, a hand shoots out to pinch your cheeks and adjusts you so your eyes meet his. “What did I say about unanswered questions?”
The man above you pants heavily as he watches your face while his partner’s palm shifts to your throat and squeezes. When he releases his grip, a hiccup and a mewl leave your throat that has Steve grunting aggressively as he pumps into you harder till your eyes close.
“I…I don’t mind it—shit—I don’t mind it rough. Steve, please.”
“You want to see something that really gets him going?”, the gangster whispered in your ear.
You watch as his palm gently runs through his boyfriend’s hair, down his back, and guides effortlessly over his ass. Steve’s head shot up, his mouth falling open into a wide O as Eddie pushed two of his fingers deep inside of his entrance.
Pushing up on to one of his palms, he pounded into you making your cunt cling to him as you listened to all the beautiful sounds that fell from his mouth.
“There you go, baby. Make her cum. Make this good girl cum.”
The coil in your stomach violently snapped, your back arching into his chest as you cried and screamed his name. It was too much for him as Steve fell flat on top of you and chased his high, slamming his seed deep into your body.
“Are you okay?”, you murmur as you nails run softly down his back.
“Yeah…fuck…I’m fine. I’m…I’m glad you decided to…to hang around.”, he pants as he tries to catch his breath.
“Need some water, hun? We ain’t nearly close to being done.”
You both chuckle at Eddie’s words as he tilts down to kiss your lips.
##############
ONE WEEK LATER
“What’s got you all smiley?”, one of the nurses asks you as she passes by your office.
“Nothing, I’m just happy. Am I not allowed to be happy?!”, you joke as the young lady laughs at your response.
“You are absolutely allowed to be. It’s been a while since I’ve seen you wear any other emotion beside stress and worry. Dr. Y/L/N wouldn’t have happened to meet a new guy now did she?”
“No…”, you blush.
“Oh my god, you did! I have to know everything.”
“Isabella, did you come to my office for a reason?”, you deflect.
“Your new patient is here and ready to see you.”
You grin at her as you head down the hallway to the exam room, your grin promptly falling as you read the chart.
“Izzie, are you sure this is the right file?”
“Um, yeah. Why?”
“No reason.”
Her eyes continue to scan you over as you heavily exhale and open the door, stepping inside. A gentleman in a nice suit and a green button up underneath turned to face you beaming from ear to ear as he stepped closer to where you were standing.
“Hello there. You must be Dr. Y/L/N. It’s nice to make your acquaintance. I’m Jason Carver.”

Reconciliation
(LN04)
F1 masterlist | main masterlist | Taglist
A/n: Here is the requested part 2! Also please send me your ideas, I’m in writers block.
Summary: read part 1 here. After a nearly marriage breaking argument and y/n walking out on Lando, he is determined to get her back at any cost.
Warnings: kinda angsty, suggestive at the end, slight fluff
Pairing: Lando x ceo!wife!reader
Lando pov:
What have I done? I just lost my unborn child and my wife in the span of a few months.
I tried to call her so many times but she refused to pick up. I went to all her estates and apartments in and around London but couldn’t find her.
I even called her parents and they said they hadn’t seen her and also expressed their dissent with me, which I totally understand.
I shouldn’t have said that to her. I knew how much the baby meant to her and I know she still is trying her best to work and handle her company.
No matter what happens or what it takes, I will get her back.
Y/n pov:
After that argument with Lando I called an Uber to my apartment in Greater London to find some peace.
He didn’t know of this apartment of mine so there was no chance he could find me.
I knew he would try and get me back as soon as he realised his mistake but I need space. What he said was vile.
I threw myself into the company work and officially came back as the CEO of l/n industries as I had taken a break for the baby.
Timeskip (6 months):
I was at my desk looking at some contracts when my door burst open to reveal the man that had shattered me a few months ago, Lando Norris.
But how did he get in? I had him blacklisted and all the security personnel knew not to let him in. My train of thought was broken as he spoke.
“Y/n baby, please hear me out! I can’t live without you. These past 6 months have been absolute hell. I love you so much and I realised almost immediately that I shouldn’t have said that. I miss you so much please forgive me, take me back into your life” he croaked out desperately
Hearing the desperation in his voice I couldn’t help but feel bad. I too missed him dearly, he was a part of my life since childhood.
I think I was finally ready to forgive him for his words after 6 months.
“Lando, I miss you too. What you said was heinous but I’m glad you’ve come to your senses. I love you too, I’ll come back only on one condition however” I replied
“Anything baby, whatever you want in the world” he immediately said
“I want you to be my personal assistant for the month. I just fired mine and I don’t have anyone at the e moment to hire” I told him.
His look of worry immediately turned into one of joy and he ran towards me and hugged me tight
“You have no idea how happy I am to have you back in my life. The last few months were so miserable for me you don’t even know” Lando whispered into my neck.
Finally my family was back. We had overcome one of the biggest hurdles we would ever face. We definitely belonged with each other.
Timeskip:
We got back home after I finished up my work at the office, it felt good to be back home.
Lando came up behind and helped me take off my coat and started kissing my neck, god did I miss his touch.
He took me to our bedroom and took off my clothing one by one.
“We’re not gonna stop until you have another baby growing in that pretty little body of yours love.” He said huskily.
Boy was this going to be a long night.
A/n: my apologies if this was too short, I didn’t really know what else to add here. Let me know your thoughts on this fic and also send me your requests. Kissies ✨

Both Miles x Male!Spiderman!Reader pt 2
Here’s the poorly written seconded part. I’m starting to realize I can’t write fighting scenes that good, or write good in general.
Also I’m on a week long trip so I can’t really update and/or write so apologies.

You three didn’t hesitate to attack. The prowler suited up and ran towards the both of you, his anger obvious in the way he fought. Miles was laughing, taunting the other.Your Miles imitated the actions of a boxer, saying some stupid remark while you jumped over both their heads and swung around them. You glided in the air and came back around to kick the Prowler in the back. He turned around and you both engaged in a battle of punches and kicks. He was trained for moments like these, punching with his strength and his movements like liquid. You punched quickly while kicking him. He was pushing you backwards towards the window. He punched you, his claw scratching your face while you barely dodged. You spun around and kicked him, using your strength to send him back.
The prowler fell back but jumped back up staring directly at you. His claws moved into another mode. The edges gained padding and his movements were slower. He took quick steps towards you and aimed for your gut. Before he could punch you you moved and grabbed his fist, rolling onto the floor while throwing him to the other side of you. You heard him sigh before he aimed for your face.
You both laid on the ground while trying to kick and punch each other. You dragged your foot up to his face while he was punching you on his side. It didn’t take long for Miles to web him and drag him towards himself. “Let us go!” Miles pulled with more and more strength, messing up at times. “We need to go home. We’re trying to save my dad! Our dad!”
You ran towards the window before you heard crashing behind you. Your Miles was laying on the floor in the kitchen with pots and pans around him. The Prowler stalked towards him, standing over him as if he was a better being.
“Your dad,” he corrected. “And you’ll save him, if you’re a good enough hero.”
The Prowler looked back at you and ran towards you, his claws back to normal now. You aimed for the roof and shot your web in an attempt to escape.
“Miles,” you yelled. They both looked at you and you took the moment to send the Prowler into the wall. “Let’s go!”
Without missing a beat, your Miles shot a web outside and swung away. You ran to the window when you heard the Prowler groaning. Looking back you saw nothing. He had disappeared, the wind had flown through the whole apartment, something wasn’t right. The conversation they had earlier seemed too important for the Prowler to just leave.
“Where-,” you were caught off with a mechanical hand around your mouth. You were bashing around in his arms while he whispered sweet nothings into your ears. He went on and on how you were like the one from his universe and how your Miles no longer had you. He was dragging you into the stairway slowly, your arms and feet were moving around not hitting anything.
He stopped, “Calm down pretty boy. He’s back and you don’t want me to fight him.” You froze at this right of the stair way you can see Miles looking around the apartment. He had noticed your absence and you would do anything to go back to him and you will. “They’re now calm.” He took his hand off of your mouth, his grip slightly looser. You noticed how his aura changed around you, it seemed softer. Like he was protecting someone he loved.
You refused to believe that there was an evil version of Miles out there. After learning about the multiverse, you realize there are many versions out there, some worse than this. Miguel talked about the spider and how Miles was supposed to be the true Prowler. This Miles just needed someone like you, his universe version of you, maybe that's why he’s obsessed with you.
“Miles?” He hummed. “I’m sorry.” You elbowed him in the face and shot a web across the apartment. Your Miles saw you, his eyes lighting up and a smile across his face, you swung towards him and picked him up, swinging away.
“What happened?” He wrapped his arms and legs around you while he was supported by your hand in his waist.
“Nothing. Let’s go home.” The cool breeze calmed you two down. Memories of your dates replaying in your mind. How you two worthless take turns swinging while the other holds onto each other. You two were in sync like muscle memory. For a moment nothing but peace and adrenaline was felt. You two were going home but the sounds of the city being destroyed behind you ruined it. “This guy doesn’t quit,” Miles sighed.
“What did you talk to him about?” He stiffened in your arm. His grip on you tightened while you swung faster. “Miles. What did you guys talk about?”
He awkwardly chuckled,” You.” You two exchanged looks, ”Hey you can’t get mad at me. I was trying to distract him from you so you could save me. Besides it’s not like he’s ma-NO HE’S MAD. SWING FASTER.” The Prowler had caught up to you two running from roof to roof. “MILES!”
Miles let go of you and dropped to the roof below. He started to run and fight the Prowler. They moved fast and around the whole building. Webs and punch marks littered the roof, you took this opportunity to get the portal open.
You prepped the gadget, putting your blood into the vile to go back home when the Prowler grabbed your suit from behind. “Let him go!”
Miles and…Miles were still fighting. Your blood finger was dripping while you tried to punch the other Miles. “Leave him with me,” he said calmly. “You don’t deserve him.”
The portal was opening up way too early for your liking. “No. Don’t you piece of-“ you were thrown back while your Miles stepped in front of you. You were tired to say the lease. Being thrown around and it didn’t help that the portal was opened. Sighing, you leaped up and raced towards the two. There was no time to waste, there were lives at stake. You need to be the hero needed in that universe. They were perfectly lined up with the portal. You grabbed your Miles and ran into the portal, only for the Prowler to grab your suit and fall in with you two.

Fine Line Between Love And Hatred
summary: The tragic events that unfolded in Woodsboro claimed more than just the lives of your fellow classmates.
warnings: mentions of death, drinking, blood, arguing, breakup, angst
word count: 1,348
((feel free to send in any request you may have 💕))
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
A soft hand met your wrist just before your fingers could graze the cold metal of the door handle. "Where are you going?" Her delicate voice spoke over the noisy music that boomed through the home. Looking over your shoulder, you spotted the brown-haired woman; her eyebrows fluttered in question, causing a dopey smile to form on your lips. "Home!' you called out; you knew she'd protest walking late at night was dangerous enough, and now with the fear of Ghostface's return, it made it even more risky. "You know you can't go alone." The hold around your wrist was tight but gentle, as if she feared loosening her grip would cause you to bolt.
"Why's that, Tara?" Raising a playful eyebrow, the smirk on your lips as prominent as her fear. You inched closer to her, stumbling over your feet as you did so. "You're drunk, Number 1!" You could roll your eyes at her remark, but you knew you were in no position to oppose; you were drunk, after all. "Number 2," She began warily, snapping her gaze away from yours, flipping your wrist around so your scar faced the two of you. "This." She reasoned, gently stroking the raised skin, the painful reminder of your near demise; she wondered how the one on your ribcage healed.
Tara was surprised when you unexpectedly snapped your hand out of hers; the tender moment disrupted entirely. "Don't! Don't do that." You pointed a finger, an uncontrollable frown now playing on your painted lips. The party felt unbearable at that moment; the music was too loud, the house too crowded, so without a final word, you turned and headed for the door, ignoring her pleas for you to stay with her.
Your head spun, and you wondered if it had simply been the drinks finally catching up to you; stepping into the cold night air was soothing, and despite shivering with each step you took, it was better than spending another second at the party.
You didn't make it far before the same gentle hand wrapped itself around your cold fingers, bringing them in for a warm embrace. You hated looking at Tara; you loathed being touched by her. She'd been nothing more than a reminder of the summer you wanted to forget. It pained you, however, because you did love the woman. "Can't you ever just leave me alone?" You shouted out into the quiet streets, there'd been a few stray people from the party, and Tara was aware of their looks, shyly glancing around to avoid your eyes.
She hadn't let go of your hand. Instead, she stroked her thumb against your reddened fingertips, and you wanted her to let go so badly, but you couldn't say so, not when it was something you craved so dearly. You hated how she looked, like a puppy who'd just gotten scolded, and you wanted to engulf her in a tight hug and apologize to her, but then, your mind filled with the night of your attack.
You could see glimpses of her soft, loving hands painted red with your thick blood, the same puppy-like expression on her face; you could still hear the desperate cries you let out as she whispered reassuringly to you. You realized now that no matter how badly you wanted it to be the same, it simply couldn't be. The love you shared was pure and beautiful, something you were aware you'd never find again, but it was so incredibly tainted now. You wished you could've preserved it. Tara still couldn't make sense of the breakup; none of your friends could; she never dared to question you.
Her eyes finally met yours; a worn-out, tired expression replaced her usual cheerful one. "It's dangerous." She stated plainly; her voice lacked emotion, but her eyes held so much, you knew if you stared into them long enough, you'd see everything. "How? Because there's a slight chance Ghostface is back?" You had no reason to be yelling. Tara had been nothing but calm with you. You stepped closer to her; she could smell the alcohol entangled in your breath. "You know what, Tar? If he's back, I hope he kills me this time." Your voice was suddenly so quiet, so sincere; it made Tara flinch. "You should've let me die because anything is better than this." She shook her head lightly; her breathing felt so much heavier.
"You're drunk; you don't mean that; come on, let's just go back-" She tried to drag you back inside, she told herself she wouldn't let you leave, but you'd been glued to your place, unwilling to move an inch. "I'm going home."
Her jaw clenched, eyes fluttered closed before a disbelief laugh slipped past her lips. She dropped your fingers, tucking her hands together behind her back. "You're so selfish. Do you know how fucking selfish you're being?" Her voice broke; shouting had never been her strong suit.
"Do you think it only happened to you?" She shook her head, faint tears clouded her brown eyes, but she blinked them away quickly. "It wasn't just you! You seem to forget that; you chose to go through it alone." Her shoulders dropped suddenly, letting out an unsteady breath.
"I loved you! I do! And you just forced me away; you left me! Why?" She'd been talking too much, too fast, and you wished you'd stayed inside, called for someone to pick you up instead because now you were faced with this; it was something you hoped to avoid forever. "I needed you!" It was heartbreaking, the sound of her voice, the slight tremble.
"Oh, give me a fucking break." You muttered, brushing your cold hands along your burning face; it soothed you, but it hadn't stopped the shake in your body. "Every day, I thought about you, I still do, and it seems like I am the furthest thing from your mind. I'm not even a passing thought!" She continued, but you needed her to stop; you would've begged her to stop. "You talk to Mindy, Chad, Sam! Even fucking Sam! But me? You're girlfriend; you couldn't even look at me; Why?" She'd been so close to breaking; her face contoured into a deep frown, the whites in her eyes bright red. There was nothing you could say to save her feelings; you knew that, no matter how badly you wanted to try.
"Looking at you made me sick, Tara." You'd been too calm as you spoke, and Tara wished you could've yelled it at her instead; it would've hurt less. "With you, I remember everything I don't wanna remember. You don't know how sorry I am that I hurt you." You hated the way the tears damped her face as you spoke.
The two of you became deflated; it was clear that Ghostface won, you could laugh at the irony. It made no sense yelling anymore; you'd both been exhausted. "I'm sorry." She breathed, trying to pull her lips into a straight line, but it seemed to quiver right back into the frown. She toyed with her fingers now, keeping her gaze low.
You hesitated before you reached out, something you hadn't done in months, softly brushing aside the fringe she'd cut into her hair. Her watery eyes snapped up at you; she could melt into you if she hadn't stopped herself. Your thumb stroked the soft flesh on her cheeks, brushing away the warm tears. "I can't let you walk home." Her voice had been small, eyes searching yours, hoping you could give up your fight. "Mindy would kill me." She continued; it seemed to be her distraction as if you hadn't been so close, caressing her face the way she missed.
Focusing on the soft skin under your cold fingertips, you merely nodded. Tara offered a painful smile, leaning her face into the hand placed on her warmed cheek, pressing a quick kiss to the palm of it, and overlapping her hand with yours.
It was clear that underneath all the ugly, the good was still there; you were sure you'd spend the rest of your life regretting running away.

You sat on the porch with Luffy, teaching him how to do some simple math. Luffy was a child that the Marine Vice Admiral Garp had asked you to take care of and educate him while he tend to his Marine duties. You were a smart woman with your father and mother being educators who taught in villages before settling in Windmill village.
"Math is stupid. Why do I have to learn it?" Luffy asked frustrated.
"I get that it can be challenging or upsetting but you need to know at least the basics," you tell him.
"Can we go to the docks later?" Luffy asked you.
"Tell you what, if you can finish this math sheet and get only five wrong, we'll go to the docks," you promised.
"Okay. Deal."
Luffy was smart. Even if you had to teach him in ways that were different, he was still smart. And you kept your promise by taking him to the docks to see the oncoming ships that came by to drop off some food or other goods.
"Woah! Y/n look! A pirate ship," Luffy says as he pointed at the large ship that stuck out from the other ships.
"Yeah. Why don't we go visit Makino," you tell him as you led him away.
Makino owned the bar in the village but she was one of your close friends.
"Go ahead and sit down. I'm just going to have a word with Makino," you tell Luffy.
"Okay."
"Makino, don't be too alarm. But there are pirates here," you tell her.
"Not again."
"I know. Just thought you should be prepared," you tell her.
"Thanks. Where's Luffy?" She asked. You turned around to see Luffy gone from his seat.
"Oh no. Luffy!" You called out before rushing out.
Luffy stood by the pirate ship as he stared at the crew. He had heard of pirates from his grandfather and Y/n but he never got to see them up close.
"What's this little urchin doing on our ship?" He heard. He looked up scared to see a man standing before him.
"I'm sorry."
"Where's your parents? A kid like you shouldn't be on a ship like ours," the man said.
"What's going on?" Luffy heard another man ask. Luffy looked over to see a tall man with crimson red hair that was covered with a straw hat.
"Captain. Found this kid wandering onto our ship," the crew member told him.
"What's your name?" The captain asked Luffy as he squatted down to his eye level.
"Luffy."
"Well, Luffy, do you know where the village bar is at?" The captain asked.
"Yeah. I can show you," Luffy nodded.
"Perfect. Come on lads, let's get ourselves a drink," the captain said.
"Who are you?" Luffy asked.
"You can call me Shanks. I'm the captain of this pirate crew."
"You don't seem so mean."
"Who said I was mean?"
"My grandfather. And my caretaker," Luffy tells him.
"Your caretaker huh? Maybe I should change their mind on me then huh?" Shanks smiled.
"Luffy!" You yelled out. Luffy and Shanks looked over as they heard your yell.
Luffy rushed over to the edge of the boat and looked down on the docks. Shanks looked down at the docks as well to see who was yelling for Luffy. He watched as Luffy smiled and waved at you as you looked up at him with your hands on your hips.
"Monkey D. Luffy! You better come down here right now or else!" You yelled at him. You crossed your arms as you stared up at him.
"Coming!" Luffy said. The crew chuckled as they watched the kid rush down to you after getting in trouble.
So that's his caretaker, Shanks thought to himself before heading down as well.
"What were you thinking? You know better than to go onto dangerous ships," you tell Luffy with a stern look.
"I know but-"
"I apologize if you were worried," you looked up to see a man in a straw hat walking over towards you and Luffy. You pulled Luffy closer to you before moving him behind you.
"The little lad was just curious. He wasn't in any danger if that makes you feel any better."
"It's not just that. It's just that you're a... you're a..." You tried to find the right words to say without insulting him, risking you in danger.
"A pirate? I can guarantee to you that I'm not like any other pirate captain," he tells you.
"And how can I believe you?" You asked him.
"Why don't you join me in a drink and I'll change your mind?" He asked you.
"I think I'll have to pass. We need to get going anyway," you tell him before rushing away with Luffy.
The next day was the beginning of your weekend off as Luffy was with his grandfather for the weekend. You brought some fruit and vegetables to Makino so she could get her first pick before you sold the rest to the rest of the village.
"You know those pirates that came in yesterday aren't so bad," Makino tells you.
"How so?"
"They're nice. And they pay," Makino tells you. You shook your head at her before helping her put some of the liquor that came in away on her shelves.
"The captain seems interested in you," she points out.
"Who's the captain?" You asked.
"The one with the red hair and the straw hat," Makino says with a smirk.
"Don't give me that look," you say, nudging her.
"I'm just saying. You should get to know him."
You shook your head at her before grabbing your basket and heading out to the village. You set up your small stand before sitting down on your chair and picking up your book to continue reading.
"This is nice little stand that you have," you heard. You looked up from your book to see the same pirate from yesterday.
"Oh. It's you," you say as you put your bookmark into your book.
"How much for the fruit?" The man asked.
"It's just two berry a piece," you tell him.
"Seems a little cheap for some good fruit," the man tells you.
"I get paid well for taking care of Luffy. This just gives me something extra to get him some treats for doing well on his homework or some other stuff for me," you tell him.
"Well in that case, I'd like to buy everything you have."
"Why would you do that?" You asked.
"I'd like to get to know you and how can I do that if you're behind this stand all day?" He asked you.
"You could always just join me behind the stand," you offered.
"True. But I would also like to grab a drink," the man winked. You shook your head at him before standing up.
"Alright. A hundred berry for all of them," you tell him. The man gave you the money before taking the fruit and vegetables.
"I'll meet you at the bar then?" You asked him as you closed up your stand.
"I’ll be there after I drop these off," the man winked at you.
You headed over to Makino's bar and sat on a stool to wait for the pirate captain. Makino gave you a look as she walked over towards you.
"Sold your food already?" Makino asked you.
"That pirate captain bought it all," you tell her.
"So you spoke to him?"
"A little. He's meeting me here for a drink."
Makino gave you a smirk before pouring a drink for you and one for the pirate. You looked over at the entrance to see the pirate walking in.
"Glad to see you had a drink ready for me," he said with a smile. He sat next to you before taking a drink of the alcohol.
"You know, I never got your name," you tell him.
"Where are my manners? I'm Shanks."
"Nice to meet you, Shanks. I'm Y/n," you smiled as you offered a handshake. He took your hand into his before placing a kiss on the top of your hand.
"Smooth," you say with a small laugh.
"How else am I suppose to impress a beautiful woman like you?" Shanks asked you. You shook your head at him before taking a swing at your drink.
"Where is Luffy?" Shanks asked.
"He's with his grandfather right now. A couple days off for me," you tell him.
"I see. Do you often get days off?" Shanks asked you.
"Not really. So I try to relax before Luffy comes back."
"I guess this gives us a couple days to ourselves to get to know each other," Shanks smiled. You smiled at him before looking down at your drink.
"Will you show me your pirate ship?" You asked him.
"Want to see it now while it's empty?" Shanks asked you. You nodded before putting some berry down for Makino.
"I got this," Shanks said before replacing your berry with his.
"I can pay for stuff too you know."
"True but I like to find treasure so berry doesn't mean much to me. Though, I think I found some good treasure in this village," Shanks tells you with a smile.
"Come on Captain," you say as you took his hat and put it on yours. "Take me on a tour of your ship."
"As you wish," Shanks smiled before taking you over.

Arranged Marriage With Princebur
Princebur x Female Reader
Warnings: Mentions of sex
OMGGGGG ✨ anon yes! Where have arranged marriage headcannons been my entire life? Apologies if you didn’t want this one NSFW… but I couldn’t help myself :’) nothing like an arranged marriage where they both realize they’ve fallen for each other <3
Headcannons below cut!
~When your parents informed you that they were marrying you off to a prince, you were… less than pleased.
~You had coffee with him and his parents shortly after finding out, and he seemed nice enough. A little arrogant, but God was he handsome. His parents were hospitable but not very friendly, commenting on how lovely it would be to finally have grandchildren.
~Not only was it bad enough that you were expected to sleep with this guy, but his parents talked about you like a vessel for babies. Not like a daughter in law. However, glancing again at his refined features, sharp jawline, and chestnut curls… maybe it wouldn’t be that bad.
~The wedding was, to be expected, over the top.
~Obviously, Wilbur’s parents were filthy rich, throwing money at a lavish party for their only son and heir to the throne.
~The wedding night was slightly awkward, though.
~The castle was lovely, expensive gifts all over the room from Wilbur’s parents and other relatives. Diamond necklaces and silk floor-length gowns, were fine, but worst of all… so many baby clothes.
~Wilbur was sitting silently on the bed in your new bedroom (thank God it was a king sized bed), tie loosened around his neck.
~”I’m sorry,” were the first two words out of his mouth.
~Not quite how you’d expect to be greeted by your new husband.
~”What are you sorry about?” You’d softly ask, sitting on the bed next to him.
~”How you’ve been forced into this life, with a man you barely know, expected to pop out some new heirs,” he’d sigh, giving you a sympathetic look with his deep brown eyes. “I don’t even like this life. I don’t want to lead the country, be a father, or any of this shit. And now I’ve dragged another person into this hell.”
~You’d silently mull over these words for a moment.
~”At least, we’re on the same page,” you’d offer, hesitating before putting your hand on his.
~Wilbur visibly relaxed.
~“My mom gave you that nightgown, didn’t she?” He says, running his eyes over the lace fabric, stopping just before it scoops down to an enticing cleavage. “She’s really not kidding about the babies.”
~You’d awkwardly nod, looking down at your clasped hands.
~Wilbur would crack a smile. “It looks really pretty on you.”
~”T-thank you,” you’d reply, blushing a little. “Well, it’s been a long day, you ready for bed?”
~He’d nod, slowly. “Aren’t you forgetting something?”
~The wedding night. Fuck.
~You figured it would be something to get over and done with, hoping you’d just have to do it once and live with your husband like roommates for the rest of your life.
~But oh, lord, did you underestimate things.
~Feeling him between your thighs, your two bodies becoming one was such a new feeling, but so welcomed, warm pleasure spreading out from your core.
~You couldn’t tell if he was enjoying it or not, but the noises he was making… soft sighs and gasps, enough to make you groan.
~The pleasure turned into more after awhile, turning into an ever-tightening spiral…
~And the spiral snapped, sending you to heaven on the waves of pleasure radiating from the apex of your thighs, letting out a tiny moan as it faded out.
~Suddenly, you felt your inner thighs wet as he whined, pressing his face into the pillows.
~You would silently clean up next to each other, slipping back into pajamas before awkwardly turning out the light and falling asleep, a whisper away from each other.

jack hughes x fem! reader
part one
a/n: i rewrote this about a million times, and i can’t seem to settle on something i’m proud of, so i landed on this. i’m aware it’s rushed at the end, but it was so difficult for me to get ideas for this part 2.
warnings: swearing, alcohol, talk of toxic friendship

Tumblr media
two weeks.
it’s been two weeks since you destroyed your relationship with jack. well, destroyed what was left of it.
the morning after, you woke up to twenty missed calls and about thirty texts- all from jack- along with a pounding headache. you chose to ignore his existence, skimming through the texts, and deleting all voicemails.
that has been your routine since it happened. you’d wake up with a tear stained face, puffy eyes, and delete all the ‘apologies’ jack had sent. various people had told you to block his number, but you couldn’t. he was still the same jack that you became best friends with, and that’s what kept you trapped in.
“i’ll take another.” you wave the bartender over, asking for what was probably your fourth drink of the night. he nods, making the alcoholic beverage.
getting handed the drink, you throw back the mix of tequila and various juices. every sip washes away your memories of that night. you can’t cry about something you can’t remember, and that logic made you more and more desperate to wash away your sorrows with liquor.
“how many of those have you had tonight?” you almost drop your glass at the sound of that voice. the same voice that used to be comforting, but now only reminds you of the horror and pain it carries.
slowly, you turn your head to look at jack. his eyes lock with yours, dull of their usual shimmer. he sends you a half-smile- if you can even call it that. without another word, you fly to your feet, making a one way exit out of the bar.
“miss, you have you pay for your drink!” the bartender yells out. coming to a halt, you turn around, motioning your head towards jack.
“he’s going to take my tab.” you beam, hoping that will slow jack down a little bit. he awkwardly smiles, pulling out $100 and giving it to the bartender, not caring how much lower the original bill was. hastily, he spins on his heels, praying he catches you before you escape.
if it weren’t for your stiletto heels, you’d be sprinting down the street like a runner, not caring where the finish line was. however, you could compromise with speed walking.
“y/n!” jack calls out. you didn’t bother to turn around, already knowing he was right on your tail. you pick up speed, looking both ways, and crossing the street. “y/n!” he yells again.
just as you thought you got away, a strong hand grabs your bicep, causing you to stop in your tracks. you turn around, eyes shooting daggers at him.
“let me go.” you command. your voice cold and authoritative. obeying your wishes, he releases you from his hold.
you swiftly turn around, ready to run at full speed down the main road.
“wait, please.” he begs. “let me drive you home and we can talk about everything.” the street light reveals jack’s features more in-depth. dark circles lay just under his beautiful blue eyes, that are bloodshot due to crying. he was just as broken as you.
“i’m not sure, jack.” your eyes flick to the ground, tracing the cracks and curves in the sidewalk.
if he took you home, he’d only pull you back into the vicious cycle that you both called a ‘friendship’.
“please.” he murmurs, his voice barely above a whisper. your eyes finally land on his. you scan the regretful look plastered across his face. his lips are turned downward into a frown, eyes droopy and glassy, and his once tan complexion was now pale.
your eyes flick down to your shoes, not completely letting the pity overtake you. “ok.” you nod. his face lights up into a small smile.
“ok, good.” his voice is much happier, “my car is in the parking lot back there.” he leads you to his car, looking back ever so often, just to make sure your still there.
warily, you step into jack’s passenger seat. the car reeked of his smell, and with every deep breath, the memories you tried to erase, flooded back. you swallowed hard, telling yourself it was a mistake to ever allow him to persuade you into this.
“are you ok?” he asks, reading your mind. “you didn’t make a mistake by allowing me to bring you home, y/n/n.” the use of your nickname makes you wince. “i’m not going to give up on our relationship without explaining first.”
he said relationship.
not friendship.
relationship.
“i didn’t even say anything.” you snap, causing him to flinch.
jack swallows hard. he’s not used to the harsh actions coming from you. you were always jack’s rock. his shoulder to cry on when he needed you. he never thought his actions would’ve been thought of as leading you on, but then again, he doesn’t use his brain that much.
“yeah, but you’re thinking it. i can tell.” he mumbles, grabbing his phone and throwing it over to you. confused, you accept it, searching jack’s face for any clues of what you were supposed to do.
his face falls when he notices your confused actions. it was muscle memory for him to pass you this phone in the car, waiting for you to serenade him with your music. he even made a playlist for you because at that point, you owned his car radio.
“you always have the aux, remember?” he clarifies, bewildered how after only a few weeks, you had forgotten basic routines.
as the gears turn in your head, you tap on the playlist titled, ‘y/n/n <3’, and allow the soft sounds of taylor swift to whisk you away from reality.
the car ride was fairly short, considering your house was just down the road. you roughly shove your key into the keyhole and allowing him into your apartment. even during the depressing past weeks, you managed to keep your apartment clean. you needed some sort of distraction, and busying your mind with cleaning was the perfect one.
he crept into the home, letting his eyes wander all around as if he’d never seen it before. his finger tips grazed the wooden coffee table, admiring the floral arrangement strategically placed on it. he’d always loved how you decorated your apartment. it never failed to brighten his day when he saw the photos and memories that decorated the walls.
“kinda thought you would’ve taken this down after what happened.” he broke the deafening silence, picking up a framed photo of you and him at a carnival. you both shared a huge bag of cotton candy, his jacket covering your body, and his arm slung around your shoulders. you had always joked that when you brought men over and they saw that photo, they’d get scared away, not wanting to get involved with your nhl ‘boyfriend’.
“what are you here for, jack?” you ask, not entertaining his antics. he’s trying to butter you up. making you relive all the memories from the past and automatically forgive him, but it wasn’t going to work.
his body tenses as he places the photo down. “you know what i’m here for.” he insinuated, moving closer to you. “i need to explain. everything.”
you stood your ground, standing tall and confident. nodding your head, you urged him to continue.
“i’m so sorry for everything.” he began. “i led you on, lied to you, and made our relationship toxic. i took you for granted, y/n, and i regret it every single day.”
you stood there in silence, waiting for more to come from his apology.
he swallowed hard before starting to speak once again. “i’m going to be honest with you. i’m absolutely in love with you. more than just as friends. fuck, i have been since i met you.” he takes in a sharp breath, putting his hand behind his neck and throwing his head back. “i’m- i’m not good with emotions and feelings. this is going to sound pathetic, but the only thing i’ve truly loved besides my family was hockey. then you came along and changed that.”
tears started to swell in your eyes at his words. your body practically gives out as you slowly position yourself in the loveseat next to you.
you were seeing a whole other side to jack. he rarely ever opened up about his emotions like this. you were both confused as of what to do. the love related emotions being so foreign.
finally, he looks back down, locking eyes with you once again. the second he sees your watery eyes, the tears start to pour out of his. “i used all those other girls as distractions because i knew i couldn’t be with you. i knew i’d ruin you if we were together, and i couldn’t take it.” he admits through hiccuped breaths. “but i never would’ve thought that all of this would be hurting you just as bad.”
“oh, jack.” you coo, holding your hand out as a signal for him to join you on the small chair. “i wish you would’ve just told me this before.” he takes your hand, slowly placing himself next to you. your hand tangles with his hair as you pull him into your neck.
you both cry in the comfort of each others embrace. his arms wrapped around your torso, pulling you as close as possible. one of your hands massaging his scalp. while the other comfortingly rubbed up and down his back.
“i understand if you don’t forgive me. i promise i do.” he mumbles against your neck.
his words shoot a pang of hurt to your heart. “why would i not forgive you?” your voice was soft and soothing.
he says nothing in reply, not trying to make you forgive him out of pity. “jack, everyone has their ups and downs once in a while. what’s going to make our relationship strong is if we work through them together. i forgive you because you were trying to navigate your feels and ended up getting lost.”
“i love you so much,” he places soft kisses on the inside of your neck, “but we can’t be together. i’m only going to hurt you, and i don’t want that.”
“what’s hurting me more is that we aren’t together.” you retort. “let’s just try to make this work…please.” you plead.
“together?” he pulls away. his tear stained eyes meeting yours.
“together.” you reassure, kissing his lips gently.
