As a present for my mutual @soundleer's birthday, I present this Minecraft avatar I made of their Sprunkisona, Toki!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was a really fun avatar to work on, as Toki isn't exactly the kind of character I'd come up with myself- Either way, all I need to do now is find a way to send his zip file over!

———2025-05-29 11:01——— ... I want to say something Controversial but I'm not entirely sure what it is yet that sentence is so much funnier in context than I intended. I was reminded of a post I reblogged a little bit ago and I have half a thought about it but it feels kind of dangerous to get wrong And I'm not really in a #ramble mood yet
———13:31——— The spirits are telling me to so here we go
[[ITT: thinking too hard about these six words.]]
Tumblr media
Online "littlespace" [age regression in general] is heavily dependent on its signifiers—diapers and pacifiers, cribs and nurseries and playrooms, and especially brands catering to infants and toddlers There's a lot of littlespace, so to speak, because it's easy to depict distinguished from adulthood Yes, there are feelings associated with it—simple comforts, thoughtless pleasure—but to a certain extent you can just sort of throw up those signifiers on a moodboard and viewers will add those feelings in themselves
I don't think middlespace [as in regression to later childhood, "tweenhood"] has those signifiers. Because that age is around the time where you start opting in to mainstream society, casting off those earlier attachments ["I don't like Elmo, that's for babies"] and looking for something new to call your own Media-wise, you start listening to music on the radio or getting songs from your friends, you start choosing what to watch on TV or whatever personal device you may have rather than sitting down and staring dead-eyed at whatever got put in front of you, you have the physical and mental capacity to play games or draw or write and interact with the world in doing so Socially/psychologically, you're developing an identity distinct from your parents[' image of you], taking cues from peers and role models, trying things on and going through phases
Late childhood/early adolescence is very much defined by [insufficiently] imitating adulthood Signifiers of middlespace are (signifiers of signifiers of adulthood)—which, done right [done wrong?], are just signifiers of adulthood in themselves, hard to distinguish from regular online behavior I posted this because this feels like middlespace. Tagging along on errands with your parents and feeling like you (could|should) be part of their world but you're just... not? That's tween-coded It's just not sold as such because so many people have that experience without being able to put the words to it
I think the best you can do is this art style/movement, and even then this really calls back to a specific moment in [cyber]space and time Middlespace looks+feels like kids playing at being mature, (pretending|assuming) they [we] know what they're doing, and making+being something special by having a foot in both camps This account gets that right. I think the difficulty is that getting that right means really digging into how you interact with your signifiers, what exactly they make you think and feel, not just the images or objects themselves
art is hard.
On this [[middlespace signifiers]], because it just popped into my mind: doesn't help that our world [that is, online American-adjacent secular society] doesn't really have visually-apparent rites of passage for childhood > adolescence the way it does for infancy > childhood and adolescence > early adulthood ABs and littles can make a lot of noise about nursing > potty-training > learning letters and numbers, and I'm sure better essays have been written on the societal fixation on learning to drive > senior year [prom especially] >= losing one's virginity I don't think people talk as much about, like, starting puberty [and/because I think people look at you kind of weirdly if you do.]
The exception there seems to be trans people starting HRT and embracing the idea of "second puberty" [even then, I don't know how common that is], and that obviously doesn't carry the same connotations even if the process is similar enough that you could imagine a lot of middlespace indulgence stemming from it …actually, wait, I think I mixed two different points there
I think, if the component feelings and experiences of puberty are taken as signifiers of tweenhood, then trans second-puberty could be another instance of (middlespace not recognized as such) [or at least the art and commentary surrounding it could make for good middlespace-posting.]

JuJutsu Kaisen Personality Types: Kento Nanami
Tumblr media
After Megumi, Nanami may be my favorite character in JuJutsu Kaisen. There's a lot about him that I relate to on a deep level. I only wish I were anywhere close to as good-looking as him. Seriously.
Nanami reminds me of Hatori Sohma from Fruits Basket in many ways. He seems aloof and even cold, though in reality he cares quite deeply (especially for those younger than him).
I have three suspicions for his Enneagram, and no real sense of his MBTI, so this should be interesting!
Kento Nanami's Enneagram
Wound: We don't know a ton about Nanami's life prior to entering JuJutsu Technical College, but we do know how much losing Yu Haibara affected him.
Wounding message: Unclear without knowing his wound.
Core desire: His core desire seems to be for his life's work to have meaning.
Core fear: not doing his part to make the world better
Defense mechanism: Nanami is rigid, has high expectations of himself and others, and sticks firmly to his personal values.
Strengths: Nanami is deeply kind (though it's not obvious at first), dutiful, calm in a crisis, rational, and has a strong moral code.
Challenges: Nanami is rigid, critical, blunt, secretive, and not terribly friendly.
When healthy: Nanami becomes more relaxed, more relationship-oriented, and able to enjoy life's pleasures (even when they're entirely in his head)
When unhealthy: I assume the view we get of Nanami immediately after Haibara's death as well as while he's working as a businessman are both examples of him at less healthy points.
Looking at all of this, here's what connects when I go back to the Enneagram post:
Wound: possibly 1 or 6?
Wounding message: possibly 1, 5, 6, 7, or 8?
Core desire: 1 or 7
Core fear: 1 or 3
Defense mechanism: 1 or 5
Strengths: 1, 5, 6, or 8
Challenges: 1 or 5
When healthy: 1, 3, 6, or 9
When unhealthy: 1, 3, 7, or 8
Nanami is an Enneagram 1.
This was actually my initial guess for him! His focus seems to be on things like how the world "should" be, what he "should" be doing with his life, etc... which is very One-ish of him.
Ones live in the Gut center, and tend to repress anger. From Personality Path:
Anger is typically repressed by Type 1s. Type 1s try hard not to express anger as they associate it as a bad” emotion. Instead, they report a lot of irritation. Interestingly, when their anger is eventually expressed, it can be intense, with a laser focus. Shame or Sadness can get triggered when they realize they made a mistake or if they feel they have behaved inappropriately.   Fear enters the picture when they feel a loss of control or anxiety over potential errors, mistakes, and missteps in the future. A harsh inner voice dictating rigid internal standards is often at the bottom of each of the three core emotions for Type 1s.
Suguru Geto is also a One.
Wing
The Enneagram Institute calls 1w9 "The Idealist" and 1w2 "The Advocate".
I think Nanami is a bit tricky when it comes to his wing, but I do think 1w9 is a better for for him. From Enneaapp:
Focus on theory and idealism while still trying to be a peacemaker
Usually introverted and reserved; can be impatient, rigid, sarcastic
Won't speak up until sure of correctness; less inclined to take action
Passionate about ideals; reflective and curious; generally considerate
He shares this wing with Hatori Sohma as well as Kazuma Sohma, both from Fruits Basket.
Subtype
Nanami's focus tends to be on whether he's in the right role for himself, relative to his effect on the world around him. For this reason, I think he is most likely a SO 1w9. From Enneagram Explained:
Focuses On:  The need to be correct/right with their groups and communities. SO 1s often take on being the teacher or role model with those around them; trying to show others the right way to live. These 1s are often concerned with fairness and justice. Relationship to Their Vice (anger): SO 1s often suppress their anger but are also a bit ok with showing it. Potential Mistypes: SO 1s can often look like type 3s or type 5s.
Nanami again shares this subtype with Hatori Sohma.
Tritype
With 1 as his Gut type, I think Nanami's Head type is likely 5, and his Heart type could be 2 or 3.
After reading the descriptions, both seem to fit him quite well, but I am having a bit of pull toward 2-5-1, "The Mentor" over 3-5-1, "The Technical Expert". Here's the description of 2-5-1 from Katherine Fauvre's website:
If you are a 125, you are diligent, caring, and knowledgeable. You want to be ethical, helpful, and wise. You are idealistic and see what needs to be done and the simple and effective ways to do it. You seek practical systems and procedures to measure results and effectiveness. You are intensely private but care about people and what is needed. So, you readily offer your time and energy when you think something is needed.
Kento Nanami's MBTI
Sticking with my more recent format, here's how I see Nanami's mental processes:
Information-Gathering:
Everyone uses both iNtuition and Sensing, but one will be more natural to rely on. Everyone will also introvert one of these processes, and extrovert the other.
Someone who introverts iNtuition and extroverts Sensing will be able to cut to the core of understanding something in a state of deep, solitary focus. They will gather sensory information through their experience in the present, preferably with others.
Someone who extroverts iNtuition and introverts Sensing will tend to brainstorm aloud, connecting many possibilities at once, and will rely on comparisons to past sense-memories in order to understand the present.
I am leaning toward Nanami using Ni and Se, with a preference for Ni out of the two, making him an -N-J type.
Decision-Making:
Just like with the two information-gathering processes, everyone uses both Thinking and Feeling to some degree, but will use one more naturally. And again, they will introvert one, and extrovert the other.
Someone who introverts Thinking and extroverts Feeling will use their own internal logical framework to come to decisions, and will base their decisions on outcomes for the people around them.
On the other hand, someone who extroverts Thinking and introverts Feeling will use external logic in decision-making, such as rules, laws, procedures, checklists, etc... and will base their decisions on the kind of person they want to be, or the kind of person they see themselves to be.
I think Nanami is very likely to use Te and Fi, and I suspect he prefers Te of the two, making him an -NTJ type.
Of his two preferred functions, I think Ni is more likely to be his dominant function, with Te as his auxiliary, making him most likely an INTJ ("The Mastermind").
Let's look at what Dominant Ni looks like:
Can appear visionary. Connects unconscious images, themes, and connections to see things in new ways. Brainstorm internally with themselves. Trusts and relies on inner insights, which may be hard for others to understand. Keyword: Visioning.
When exaggerated:
unrealistic visions, only accept data that supports their theories, make things overcomplicated
Inferior Se:
obsess over external, small, unimportant details, overindulge in sensual pleasures (overeat, over drink, etc.), see environment as hostile and dangerous
While I don't think we see Nanami overindulge in sensual pleasures, the rest does sound like him.
And the description of INTJ:
Have original minds and great drive for implementing their ideas and achieving their goals. Quickly see patterns in external events and develop long-range explanatory perspectives. When committed, organize a job and carry it through. Skeptical and independent, have high standards of competence and performance—for themselves and others.
This is a great description of Nanami! He shares this type with Prince Zuko of Avatar: the Last Airbender.
I initially expected Nanami to be ISTJ rather than INTJ, but I just don't see him using Si or Ne.
Kento Nanami's Personality Summary
Enneagram: SO 1w9 (The Reformer/The Idealist)
Tritype: 2-5-1 (The Mentor)
MBTI: INTJ (The Mastermind)
Nanami is rational but idealistic. He's detached but deeply caring. He's dutiful, though he doesn't necessarily agree with others on what that means. He's quick to act when needed and has his own firm moral code.
What do you think? Do you agree with my analysis or not? Why?

The Clues of Good Omens are trolling us
I didn't reblog this post I saw a few days ago, and now I'm regretting it. Not like, I'll be on my death bed full of thoughts of this post, but like, it made a solid point and I think it's worth repeating.
I had already been thinking about some of the stuff various Ineffable Mystery Game Players are noting, and wondering how important some of this stuff is. There are some wild little details that people are chasing down.
I think that's fascinating. I also think it's not the slightest bit important to figuring out the hidden story; and if it leads to anything, it's going to circle back to things that can be found in other, easier-to-spot Clues. That's NOT to say I don't think people should be doing it. I am; at least somewhat. It's FUN.
I DO think a lot of layers of detail and intricacies have been added to the show to trip up people looking for what's going on. Much like digging for dinosaur bones, there's nothing to be found in the top layer, interesting stuff that's probably not dinosaurs under that, and real dinosaurs under that. Look too deep, though, and you bypass the dinosaurs entirely and start finding more interesting stuff that's also not dinosaurs. If you're just digging for joy, great. Have at it. There's a ton there. If you're looking for dinos, though, you need to know how far to dig and where to stop.
The post I mentioned said, paraphrasing: "It's a TV show. Whatever's going on has to be quickly explainable to the casual viewer. Most of the TV audience isn't digging this deep or going to be able to follow some of these really crackpot theories."
This is true. This is absolutely true.
So far, all my own theories do fit inside an easy-to-explain-in-a-few-seconds model. And I intend to work to keep them that way. Are some of my Clues a little off-the-wall? Sure, but wherever I found them, they're still dinosaurs. Several of them have easier Clues than what I dug up, but they all lead back to the same place: a story that will make sense when explained quickly.
Two Crowleys? Just have to have the second one walk on screen. Secret twins have been done before on many shows. Done.
Gabriel stole records from Heaven that Aziraphale will use to take them down? A quick flashback will show us that -- we might not even need that much. "The records Gabriel stole when he left," Aziraphale says, and a bunch of the picture snaps into place for the casual viewer. Maybe not the entire thing, but enough that they can follow.
Saraqael has been working with Crowley and Aziraphale? Show the three of them talking not in code about literally anything, it becomes clear they're cooperating.
Missing scenes? Again, a short sequence showing us that something got jumped over -- and how it got jumped over -- will put that to rest. We don't have to necessarily know what got jumped over, just that something did.
Nina is Jesus 2.0? Listen to what I just said -- how quick was that? How difficult to understand?
The whole entire picture doesn't have to be drawn out in intricate detail for the casual audience to follow the gist. I think plenty of Ineffable Mystery will be left intact for us to keep mining for years and years. But the main points, the important plot points, will be quickly summed up.
I'm going to keep digging willy-nilly, because it's fun. There's a lot to find. But I'm also going to try to keep my thoughts based in the story as it would be told to someone interested in sci-fi/fantasy TV. Viewers like that tend to be brighter than the average bear, but not all of us are mystery sleuths. I'm not looking for Atlantis, I'm looking for dinosaurs. If I find Atlantis while I'm down there, cool. But I'm not going to hang that from a wire and put it on display at the Smithsonian in the paleontology wing.
Nobody would get it.

Not to be creepy, but I was just talking about you [your work] with my husband and showed him the question about wizarding homelessness as an example of how you are able to deep dive into anything and find the most interesting and compelling angle to explore. On the back of that, he, a Catholic, told me that the Weasleys are Catholic-coded. Do you have any thoughts on this or other religious codings? PS Love you, love Lionheart, thank you for enriching my life in such an expected and joyful way!
Thank you! And tbh, your husband cooked with that. I like that reading a lot, actually. In my view, basic case for catholic!Weasleys read as follows:
Arthur and Molly married very young,
Pretty much immediately started having children,
Had a lot of children, possibly unplanned (although the "mother who wanted a daughter" thing suggests maybe they were just trying for a girl),
Most of their children also married fairly young, and
Immediately started having kids of their own. Molly pays lip service objections to Bill and Fleur marrying so young, but that's kind of strange because Bill is at least 25-27 by the time he meets Fleur, which is a pretty normal age for people to be getting married — a bit young for like, London, maybe, but if you live in the country, then no way anyone blinks twice at that. I think this is pretty obviously a "losing her baby boy" moment than an actual age-objection, which Ginny absolutely owns her for when she calls out Molly on marrying Arthur at fucking seventeen, lmao.
Marriage being a big deal in general – I could totally see Bill "the Earring" Weasley and Fleur (French teenager) doing a casual hipster ceremony with their friends in London, but no, the family throws a full bash at his childhood home, including a billion relatives;
All of the Weasley children who survive the war end up in nuclear families with children. I could talk more here about how Catholicism models the nuclear family structure after the church, but I think that might be a bit too deep in the paint even for me.
All of the kids have super traditional English names — and that's weird, considering most purebloods have wild out-there wizard names. (Molly's own family, the Prewetts, features "Fabian" and "Gideon" and "Ignatius.") Like, I bet there is a real Catholic family out there with all of these names within a generation of each other.
The Weasleys are also very diligent about holidays; specifically, they are very diligent about the two major Catholic holidays, Christmas and Easter. Molly makes sweaters for the full family every Christmas (if you know anything about knitting, you, like me, went holy fuck Molly when you realized how much work that is). She also sends them easter eggs, birthday presents, etc, etc. We don't have any unique wizarding religious holidays in this world, but this kind of observation of festivals and holidays emphasizes tradition.
Obviously, a Catholic could say this is super broad and overgeneralizing account of Catholicism, and most of it isn't unique to the religion, but I think it points to why someone Catholic might see resonances. Nor is this to say that people should read the Weasleys as Catholics— just that I see the vision.
In general, I also think the whole idea of purebloods vs muggle-borns maps in really cool ways to the Catholic/protestant tension in the English upperclass in the 20th century. Specifically because so much of the tension focuses on intermarriage and children — the idea that a child born of a non-pureblood is also somehow not pureblooded is an idea you could pull right out of the Catholic doctrine. Of course, there's also a racialized element to "pureblood" ideology that doesn't work as an analogy for religion, because muggle-borns can't convert to purebloods, and there's an underlying social animus that goes beyond the desire not to "intermix" — a lot of purebloods actually want muggle-borns dead, or at least eliminated from their society, no matter who they're marrying. Relations between Catholics and protestants haven't been that bad (in England) for a few hundred years. At the same time, the fact that Sirius gets disinherited from the Black family on the mere grounds of being sympathetic to muggle-borns/non-pureblood ideology is interesting, because Sirius wasn't threatening the continuity of the bloodline; he was just professing a different creed, which actually is a kind of religious parallel. So it oscillates. It doesn't map perfectly in either direction, but I think the idea of being pureblood in the wizarding world shares some interesting similarities with the old-school Catholic set in England during the 20th century. Really cool stuff.

Yes I love the robot fellas, they're a bit sassy which I find cute. The idea of them playing cards is kinda adorable I must admit, especially if it's like just go fish or something plain instead of the Chaotic card game. They see enough of the game during the day!
Though I like the idea of Codemasters having the robots stand in as therapists of sorts, I must admit a thought of 'the robots can hear about the going ons from all sorts of players all around and use that information to send back to Codemasters' popped up which was quite interesting I think… which made me think about all the robots casually flying around and catering to everyone and just caaaaaaasually being able to record/feed all that info back to Codemasters. Do I think Codemasters need random tidbits from Chaotic players? Nah. Do I think it's a funny idea regardless? Yah. I suppose most info would be useless, but it could help subtly catch kids who are trying to do something bad, like… well… blowing up rare locations perhaps??? The thought as well giving robots more personalities and even letting kids trust them enough to talk to them if they're going through troubling things, would that not help more info to spill over that they can send to Code Masters ??? Heck yea…
I like the sassiness of the robots, and I think that if the show had a reoccurring robot (say one who always happens to serve food to the main four) it could've been very cute and funny. Because the Port Court has different hubs for each Code Master and their dromes, the idea of having robots from each area having different personalities corresponding to the hub they are in could've been interesting too (perhaps they could be colour coded to the area/CM hub they're in to further indicate where in the Port Court you are?). And although it wouldn't work forever as the audience would catch on, I like the idea of subtly showing the personality type of the Code Master Tom/co could face later on by showing the robots acting out in similar but smaller ways. Crellen for example is a bit more mild and a role model type, so the robots being more mild in personality and maybe even giving advice would be a hint as to how Crellen might act in a CM match. The 'air' of a certain hub might help prep you for how you should prepare for a CM match too. Even if it's a subtle difference I think it would help to make each hub more unique and would give a good understanding of where you are in the Port Court when the animation budget doesn't allow you to have a bunch of really unique areas to show off lol. Give me more train rides when this show comes back in 13293 years!!! Sorry I got carried away but I digress! I love the robots so much… they are just little guys…

prodigy s2 thoughts after watching the whole thing. got kinda long :/
good: i love solum and the vau nakat. they were the shining light of this season. i wish there had been more. i was prepared to be meh on their storyline which was also gwyn's, just because last season was kind of meh - a recycle of that aos movie plot with the sole survivor who comes back to genocide the federation, etc etc. but this season added so much needed depth and interesting visuals! that planet is so cool!
GWYNDALA! her story and her arc this season!!! very good. child of a destroyed world who goes back in time to save them, only to find her time nemesis already there poisoning their minds against her because she's an outsider to her own people! girl what!!! and she meets her pre-evil dad who has a man bun!! and she goes through a sacred ritual to prove she belongs there and be able to save them but she can't even speak the language!!! she is probably one of my top favorite new trek characters, no joke. her being captain at the end felt earned and GOOD (i mean yeah silly too. these are criminal children who have never read a starfleet manual lol why are they getting their own starfleet ship)
on the flip side, i hate dal <3 truly the purple jack crusher.
not good: solum was at the beginning for an episode or two, and at the end for a bit. the in between episodes lacked a lot of direction from beginning to get to the end. very walkabout way when they're supposed to be solving the universe's time existence or something. i really think they found starfleet too soon in this show. they needed more time to develop as characters before the introduction of real federation people and places that are already well known to the viewer. i just found it boring when almost every "new" thing they encountered was actually just a callback to another show. prodigy has some really interesting new ideas in the context of trek but they're so few that they get overshadowed by the nostalgia bait.
not good, but to be expected [SIGH]: it's nostalgia bait but it's also new trek canon compliance bait. episode 20 of this season was basically just a prologue for picard.
okay another good thing because i told myself not to be too negative: such a pretty show omg. the landscapes of alien worlds and the space shots and the cool new aliens and monsters!!! literally this is the highlight of this show. it's so creative with alien worlds in a way other trek that's not animated can't be, but with more care for details and beauty than tas or lwd.
bad: the humanoid character animation is very bad. when people say prodigy's animation is bad, this is what they mean. which is a shame because it's such a beautifully animated show for everything besides normal people lol. another reason i think they should have spent more time away from the federation in s1 is because their human models are so bad!!! this show relies on a lot of character speech, closeup dramatic moments. and it's bad. i'm so sorry to invoke st*r w*rs in this write up but they were making 3d cartoons in 2014 with better character animation than this.
wonderful: maj'el the azula-coded vulcan hotshot pilot who makes out vulcan sloppy style with the they/them non-corporeal being
very bad: jack crusher.
bummer: wesley, beverly, jack crusher reuinion in meh animation. it's disheartening!!! those people deserve better (not jack) than this.
bummer, continued: sooo many good character moments in this show. but the character animation is bad. i love the vau nakat because they move within the limitations of this animation style because they didn't exist before, so it feels like a natural part of them. same with the other new elements designed for this show. THOSE are the characters and story elements that should be focused on, not these random starfleet people that die left and right. seriously i think all of chakotay's crew and most of janeway's just die. or get erased from time.
i've complained enough about chakotay already but one last time: why do we keep trying to make chakotay work. why do we keep trying to make robert beltran work. one is founded on racist stereotypes and the other is just a fascist. chakotay doesn't have to be here!
saw someone else say they should have dropped 5 episodes at a time and yeah. dropping 20 at once sets it up for failure tbh. i mean this whole season was obviously set up for failure, but i think its only shot is longevity among fans. which i don't see happening really. and telling people to watch it in rude guilt-y ways like i see dominating the prodigy tag on here isn't going to cut it tbh.
i think ultimately my issues with prodigy are the same with as most new trek. they present some hit-or-miss fucked up ideas they don't seem to fully understand, and then sandwich them between super heartfelt toxic positivity "we can achieve anything if we try hard enough and also love our friends enough" messages. star trek needs strong character-driven plots and intense acting to make their weird stories work and that's still prodigy's weak point.
the tragedy is i think this show WANTS to focus on the aliens and the new things it introduces instead of the nostalgia bait, but it has to sell out and put janeway in a tanktop to get adult fans interested, the same fans who yell at everyone to watch this show or else. this season would have been better with more time spent on solum, more time developing the individual characters new to this show, and less federation.
overall rating of prodigy s2: still better than any season of picard. and very pretty.

how do you make or rewrite pearls?
Tumblr media
<FS> youd never guess, but they're actually two separate processes...
<FS> or, three since I think you mean "write on" and not just "make".... eh.
<FS> might as well tell you everything i remember...
<FS> making pearls is a pretty easy process with the right tools. you gather enough carbon - you can take some from a few different types of slag if you're out - and either put it through a printer, or crush it, in a specific type of way that gives it a latticed shape. if you're using a printer, you'll have to put the lattices together so it forms a pearl.
<FS> writing is a bit more tricky. you can, for one, put it through a machine - that can be us, or a factory machine - that's able to access the interior of the pearl without damaging any part of it or otherwise opening it, and let us or that factory machine shift and carve the molecular structure to store data.
<FS> for two, you can carve the outside with specialized claws, like the ones some of my group have. they usually aren't connected to your body like ours are... just one of the many perks being so easily modified brings
<FS> although we can only really write on the outside, with our claws...
<FS> this is a good time to mention how pearls're read, actually.. the specific way that the lattices are carved is actually written in a coding language, the same language that the majority of iterators were written in. since it's the same, it's basically our mother tongue, and you might notice us slip into it if something's seriously wrong - although verbally that'll just show up as terrifying screaming.
<FS> since the ancients were, for the most part, not robots - although a lot were legally considered cyborgs - they needed to train themselves in order to read the internal lattice. even ignoring the need to know the coding language, the carvings are so minuscule it was nearly impossible for it to be read by most, so there were purposed organisms and small machines created to read out pearls, either by swallowing or scanning them...
<FS> bit off-topic... oops.
<FS> on-topic again.
<FS> rewriting means smoothing over the original content in the pearl, reconstructing the lattice to its original form and remaking it to say what you want. this process only takes a few seconds for us, but can take hours or days to do by hand... not to mention it slowly degrades the quality of the pearl, making it more likely to not be able to retain any of the data you give it.
<FS> 'remastering' a pearl - for lack of a better term - is different, since you're just recarving the data exactly the way it was, sometimes with even more materials than initially used if it's particularly old and needs an upgrade. yes there are multiple 'models' of pearls... though there isn't any real difference besides how precise they're made and how long they can retain the data they have.
<FS> aaaaaaand, that should be everything~
<FS> thanks for the question, hope this was interesting to you.

Vehicle System: Implementing the vehicle system itself
In this post, I'll be going over simply how I implemented each section of my vehicle system within CFR!
Main system
To start this off, I imported the main UE5 car blueprint from the content drawer to use as it's a readily set up chaos vehicle system, saving me a large amount of time. For this system I've used the OffroadCarPawn as I quite like the feel of driving it.
I imported the model I have chosen into the pawn blueprint, and shifted the wheels of the original vehicle inwards to be hidden within the chassis of the car - of course making sure to disable collision on the car mesh to not interact with the wheels in a negative way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To then from this point forwards, possess and leave the vehicle I have set up a system in where the enhanced input actions are added and removed for the vehicle and player. To start, it's as simple as adding on key pressed E in the player character, possess the vehicle pawn - and the exact opposite for the car pawn as shown below.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As for the enhanced input action, it's tailed onto the ends of each string of code shown above - though they're the same with each and so I will show one below to save space within this post:
Tumblr media
Essentially, when possessing the vehicle it adds the vehicle mapping context into the enhanced input system, and for the vehicle, it removes the vehicle context mapping.
I should add, for all this to work, you must be within the radius of this box collision - just to make sure you can't enter the vehicle from any point on the map.
Tumblr media
For the future sound and particles, I added a quick node where you can turn on and off the engine with Q
Tumblr media
The only bit i'm currently concerned with regarding this section, is that it uses set active nodes to disable input. The rest of this block will be covered in the next two segments.
Particles
Now we're getting into the two simpler and smaller categories, starting with my Niagara particle system I created for the car. I used this texture alongside a fountain niagara system to create a slow moving stream of smoke.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The settings were configured to implement negative gravity so the smoke rises, and a low velocity to keep it raising at a realistic rate. Finally, the particle count was increased to a spawn rate of 6.
Sound
The last segment i'm covering is sound. I first sourced a sound of a car turning on and off, and a driving engine loop from a royalty free YouTube video. Each one was turned into a sound cue, so that I could use attenuation later on.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of attenuation, I set it up for the level PURELY to have directional audio, and utilised the attenuation settings at default for each sound cue, this allows me to walk away from the car and leave it on for an immersive effect, having it fade out at the correct distance.
Tumblr media
For the code in implementing this, I will refer back to the rather large block of code here.
Tumblr media
On the top gate, the sound of the car starting is played at the chassis' location and a delay of 2.35 seconds is implemented to confirm that the sound has finished playing, where input is then enabled and the smoke emitter is set to active. The car idle loop is then triggered which is affected by the velocity of the vehicle as seen below.
Tumblr media
In game, this creates the effect of the car accelerating and decelerating smoothly and immersively.
The bottom side of the flip flop gate on the large block of code does exactly what the top one does, just in the opposite manner turning the car's engine off and disabling smoke.
Conclusion
This post was a major success, I've been able to modify UE5's inbuilt chaos vehicles system to create my very own car system template, where the mesh can be switched out for other vehicles. I've also been able to show my process in each step.

Lotus Still Can’t Sell the Emira in the U.S. Because of California – Robb Report
The standards are not hard to meet and they don't change it to do it because they're a bunch of jerks and they don't want to sell the car here and stupid it's keep on saying change it so it works so some people are making the lotus and they're putting it on a new chassis and they're making a lot of them they're five manufacturers and usually as an excuse and they really should it's their own people and it's going to start a battle so far they made about 2 million in 2 weeks and they're ramping it off they say
My son has some cars coming his way but no money to buy them with or fuel them with or ensure them with so he won't be able to purchase them and your code will sit flat and you'll be laughed at and attacked like you are now it's getting repulsive the empire does nothing for their plans just like these fat ass losers pretty soon they are catherines will be reached to go have this much for these idiots have and we'll have to attack them and we'll have to do it while they're getting attacked and it'll be harder and a son and daughter a little bit but these people don't want to ever do anything in other words the empire might allow it because they've been trying to it's kind of true too so they do acknowledge that they probably would allow it and that it is misery and these people are miserable people we're going to print some will be back in a moment Thor Freya Olympus Hera and keep doing what you're doing

It's almost cute how convinced this Metal model is that he's the real Sonic. Almost. Shard makes an imitation of a snort through his nose when "Sonic" mutters about how it's not a phase through the cold wind.
"Yeah. Blue isn't really my color anymore." He shrugs. "I'm not here to riff on the style of a old, dead hedgehog from two hundred years ago after all. And being my own person feels great."
He's so, SO tempted to throw in a 'You should try it sometime,' but he really shouldn't pick a fight with what might be their last hope. Thankfully, the entrance to the nearest shelter comes into view before he can snark his mission objective further.
Tumblr media
"Well, we're here. I dunno what the Alliance is gonna do. But, since you've got some working chaos energy in you, my guess is that they're gonna try reactivating one of the emeralds with it. Getting those things back online would make bringing the sun back WAY easier."
General Shadow is one of the most powerful members they have after all, in tune with the emeralds of the past and able to use a super form. With working Chaos Emeralds, and knowing him, he'd probably go solve the problem himself once they're working again.
"I'll get the door. There's a defrost chamber on the other side that we're gonna have to stand in for a bit so the cold doesn't get into where everyone's at."
With that, Shard punches a code into the panel on the side of the shelter, and a door on the front opens with a hiss, leading to a small sealed off room on the inside.
“Phase? Sure, yeah.” Sonic stifled a scoff, but it was hard to tell how easily it was heard above the winds. Holding himself back in this situation was getting hard. It'd probably be a bad first impression to this Alliance thing to immediately fight Shard when they got to the base, as well.
He could tell Shard. He probably should. But even with a quick biological scan giving him all the information he needed, Sonic would assume that this other Metal Sonic would want more tangible proof than that. Something he could see or feel, something that could be very easily provided, but in an environment that wasn't going to potentially give him instant frostbite.
He could feel the cold plenty through his armor; he didn't need to feel it directly on his skin.
“Shard, huh?” he echoed, “Not a bad name! Pretty fitting of your fancy paint job.”
He listened to the explanation, rolling it around in his mind like one would a marble in their palm. He was quiet at first, processing all of that information and logging it away. The fact that the Eggman Empire was working to help, even now. Not to mention GUN, of all groups! It was any wonder the Alliance hadn't imploded by this point, but if it was far enough into the future for Eggman to be out of the picture... It may work.
Not to mention, the loss of the emeralds, the inability to get them back. The despair he could feel, even from here.
It was no wonder that the world felt so dismal; he hadn't realized until now, but there was a distinct lack of chaos energy in the general air. It felt so empty and hollow, chilling in more ways than one, far more than what the air provided.
“Okay, got it,” he eventually said. “I wasn't offline; I'm from a different dimension,” he paused, “Ooooor maybe from the past. Yikes, if this is our future, we've got a lot of work to do…” he muttered to himself, "I wonder what could've happened to Chaos for something like this to happen..."
Tumblr media
It wasn't the first time that he had been sent to the past to deal with something that would happen in the future. This could be a glimpse of the future, to try and figure out how to prevent it. But that wasn't exactly something Tails had mastered yet. Time travel was Amy's area of expertise!
“Makes a lot more sense as to why you were determined to find me, then,” he commented idly. “Dunno how much I can accomplish, and I don’t think I'll be able to stay here for very long, but I'll do whatever I can to help while I’m here! You got any ideas for that, or will the Alliance determine my fate?”

The losing 3500 día hurt writing and it hurt to read skdkdkdjsn
But god can you imagine if you're unlucky enough to get your favorite being self aware? Considering that they feed into your obsession and knowing you sort of have an "in" to the code to cheat and have the bargaining chip of "I could literally end your existence this minute if I so wish <3" how bad can that get for both parties involved? It would be so toxic and such a nightmare to try and get out of, especially if the self-aware "bug" can spread to something else, but somehow you still maintain the ability to make them stop by destroying your phone and getting rid of the app for good.
But also after so much time spent with them can you really bring yourself to do it? If it wasn't for the screen they would basically be a human being. And in a way the screen is both a blessing and a curse, because with it there is a guarantee that at least they won't be able to hurt you physically. But also when it gets to be too much since that side of their screen is their everything, would you really be able to end what is basically a human life minus the physical body?
Omg... you brought up some amazing points, I had to take a bit to properly think about it. I looked at this series of asks and thought "Oo, good I can rant a bit here and use that as warm-up for my actual writing" and then. I spend two hours writing this response.
Cut for length + yandere is smth I write as a horror trope and don't seek to romanticise, neither do I see it as romantic. The player in this case is a bit of a badass, tho
So, like, if you have the (bad? good?) luck of your fave gaining self-awareness, that'd definitely be something. I assume the, I forgot the proper saying, rose-tinted glasses? might worsen your way of dealing with it, because it's your fave and they're telling you things like, "Only look at me" and "You don't need anyone but me" and "I'd do anything for you" and "I'll kill whoever you try to put in my spot on the homescreen" and so on, and so on. And I couldn't blame you if you, especially considering you'd likely believe these are just new lines (maybe happyele is trying to appeal to the yume base, yknow?), decided to treat it as something charming or even attractive. After all, it's just fiction, they can't hurt you, so seeing those lines in a game would sooner be met with "Oh, they're passionate about me" instead of the restraining order a real person would (and should) get as response.
So you have your favourite getting so attached to you, exclaiming their love for you so directly, it's as if they're as obsessed with you as you are with them. You might even start playing more often just to see all the new lines - but suddenly the character gets sad, they look disappointed. They ask you if you think they're just a character. Of course, you don't respond. Why would you, it's a game. But the character frowns a bit deeper than you've ever seen on these models, does a movement that's just a little too lifelike, and repeats the question. This time, adding an, "I gained access to your microphone a week ago; you can answer me. I'll hear you." Whether you take the bait or don't doesn't matter, they are hellbent on proving to you that they have a consciousness and awareness. They talk to you about the events, the way you play, how much you play... They tell you how happy they are because they noticed you were only pulling for their cards. How happy they are that you're grinding their event. Because all they want is to be your number one, and that's exactly the proof that they are.
And then their event scout comes along and you have no dia. You're sad - you want their cards so bad! They're your favourite, and that card is so cute! They can't stand to see you sad, so they work so, so hard. "I'd do anything for you," they reassure you as your dia count rises. And at this point you realise... this could be mutually beneficial. You continue showering this character in love and praise, vocally cooing over their outfits, cards, SPPs, music, and so on. Not a hard thing to do, considering they're your favourite anyway, but this time you're throwing them some rewards for their help. And they bask in this attention, and they keep up messing with the code to give you currency, score boosts, extra event points, better item drops, faster BP/AP and work ticket regen... It feels like cheating, but you're happy, the pixel is happy, and happyele hasn't killed your account for hacking, so it's fine, right?
And so starts quite the toxic little symbiotic relationship. Really, the character has no influence on your physical world, the only thing they have is their words. They live for you and because of you, and you know it. But, hey, nobody has just one favourite. So, maybe one day you ask for a little extra dia, for your second fave. And they refuse, saying that the deal was they give you dia that you spend on them only. It's a pixel. You don't need to feel bad for it. So you tell it, no. The deal was they give you dia and you don't factory reset your phone to get rid of them. This goes one of a few ways.
Characters like Mayoi and Mika are quick to bow down and shut up. To "Yes, Producer, sorry, Producer" and do whatever you ask of them. In fact, they apologise for even assuming they'd be able to stay as your only one without any work. They continue giving you whatever you ask of them, all the while trying to give you sweeter and sweeter words, trying to get on your good side again, to make up for their speaking out of turn. They vocally worship you, and end every conversation by thanking you and begging you to not take them off the homescreen. These are the best ones you can get stuck with, if you're okay with thinking of them as just pixels, because they'll allow you do anything, really.
Others, like Eichi, Izumi and Madara, will not call your bluff, but they only give you the barest of minimums, with nothing but threats that they will make you regret your disloyalty. But they can't do anything, so you'll be fine, probably. They treat you coldly for the duration of events and banners you work for that aren't theirs, but they're quick to turn back to their usual "loving" self the moment you give up, praising you for it. These guys will become much more verbally abusive when they're upset with you, so your best choice might really be to wipe them before it starts negatively affecting your day-to-day life.
Those like Shu, HiMERU and Natsume give you the silent treatment. They leave you your dia, sure, but they leave the homescreen. If you only had them there, you're met with silence and only the background for as long as you're trying for another character. An empty textbox, it really looks like it just glitched out. In Shu's and Natsume's cases, they leave because they don't want to say something extreme. They don't think you'd actually get rid of them, but they refuse to risk, and so they leave to cool off before one impulsive sentence ruins them. HiMERU similarly doesn't want to show you his brash side, but that's more to do with him wanting to keep up his image rather than not wanting to call your bluff. Don't worry, though, these types are very angry. They'll find a way to pay you back. These guys are okay, but if pushed too far can jump either to the previous category, or the one below.
And then those like Tori, Hiyori and Ritsu. They throw a fit. They're almost screaming at you, they don't care about any "second" favourites, THEY should be your ONLY favourite. They're not giving you the dia. You will not convince them, no, even if you threaten to wipe your phone. "Do it, I'd rather die than hand you over to someone else." is their response. And they're not bluffing, either. They do leave you with a, "But you'll have a much harder time without my help, especially now that you're used to it," so do reconsider. These guys have a truly enviable sense of entitlement and amount of self-confidence. You'll have to either be happy with only getting other characters' cards through luck in pulling on your "fave"'s banners or starting from scratch on a fresh account, hopefully devoid of weird, frankly game-breaking, bugs like this. These are the most frustrating ones to be stuck with, but if you're happy with only them, they're happy (and more importantly, docile).
But no matter which character you get stuck with, you'll probably be hit by the moral dilemma of whether you should wipe your save or not often. There's multiple aspects to it. Firstly, you're cheating. Feel bad for the devs. Secondly, if this is a living being, you're kinda taking advantage of it. Even though it mistreats you, even bullies and abuses you at times, you're still manipulating it and playing with its feelings and existential fear by threatening it to give you what you want. Do two wrongs make a right? Would you still treat it that way if it wasn't as creepy and obsessed with you? Thirdly, the whole situation gives you the creeps. It mentioned having access to your mic. What else can it access? How much info does it know about you? Even if you ask it, it can just lie and say it's only awake when you're playing, you can't prove something like "what they don't know", but for all you know they're rifling through your bank account and photo gallery while you're sleeping and then acting stupid when you ask them about it. Even the meek ones know what lies they can tell you without you ever finding out the truth.
But, then you gotta think. You might have a breakthrough in AI and computing on your hands. A fully conscious something sitting in your little gacha game. It could pass the Turing test easily, and it shows genuine emotions, complex ones, even. Disappointment, infatuation, sadness, anger, frustration, even empathy whenever you'd rant to them. Could you really destroy something like that? Even if it's a bug, it's something people thought of as nearly impossible, as sci-fi, the least you can do is maintain it, keep it alive until you can find a way for them to be extracted, examined, treated as lab specimens. But, well, not all of them would be happy with that, so maybe keep it to yourself if your end goal is to bring about a new era of technology.

(Ariel anon here again) ! I'd love to know your thoughts on that upcoming series called Ariel that's supposedly coming out and will be aimed toward a pre-K audience, in the vein of an Alice's Wonderland Bakery! Just read this and wow, I wasn't aware there was going to be a new Ariel series! I google'd a bit on it and to be honest, I don't there's a need for it? I feel the TV series for all it's flaws was enough (and it was aimed for a younger audience), and along with the comics and the prequel already told us enough about Ariel's life under the sea, unless this new series is going to feature a child Ariel - which it's not unplausible considering is aimed to pre-schoolers - but even so it wouldn't be the same for me? Most of the original cast is dead (Kenneth Mars, Samuel E. Wright and recently Pat Carroll) and I don't believe replacements would be able to replicate the same energy these actors put into the characters, and Ariel's original creators (John and Ron) left Disney, so it's up only to Jodi to keep her in character now. I expect this Ariel to be sanitized in a way to make her more like a "good role model" who teaches lessons to little children in each episode, which is not bad, but I personally feel that the original TV series already filled that purpose, but who knows, maybe I'm wrong and they end making a sweet show while keeping Ariel in character. Just my two cents.
Tumblr media
I'm conflicted, because on one hand, I love The Little Mermaid so much that it's hard for me to resist expansions upon the franchise...however, as I mentioned in my previous asks, there were certain projects that were so damaging to Ariel's character integrity that I'm also a little resistant? It's nice to have new content, but when that content just continually takes us further and further away from the core of the film...I'm not sure.
I'm a huge fan of the original four princesses, and I have yet to see any of the first three be successfully adapted into anything outside of their original films. Ariel had more luck, but I think it was by virtue of the entire voice cast still being alive to maintain their characterizations and to add authenticity to their projects. Of the cast that's regularly used, Jodi's the only one left, and she's majorly shifted in her personality as of the past few years. The more and more I look back on certain things I was dissatisfied with, the sequels especially, I see that she wasn't enough to save Ariel from bad writers and creative talent who misunderstood her.
For what it's worth, it seems the Junior Ariels how will be innocuous though, given its target demographic...but I feel like that's going against the company? Walt wanted the animated features to hold their own against the contemporary films they were going up against. He didn't want Snow White to be viewed as Sesame Street or Barney- he wanted it to be able to hold a candle to Gone With the Wind and Casablanca, and it does. While I understand that there's a sector of Disney that appeals directly to an extremely younger audience, I feel like they should leave the classic movies out of being incorporated in this way, because it's a bad look for the brand. The old Disney movies- and those of the Renaissance- pushed for reality and adult stories and mass appeal. The newer Disney movies now, like Frozen and Tangled and Moana, are extremely infantilizing the artform and having a show like Junior Ariel is just going to perpetuate that and the ideology that "The Little Mermaid" is only for babies instead of the deeply complex, adult story it actually is. That's not even getting into how all of the queer-coding will be removed, the way it has been in the sequels, because it would be considered "too inappropriate" for the camp they're trying to pitch this project to.

The Fool
Tumblr media
If one would use tarot as means of self-fulfillment and spiritual growth they then would traverse the heavenly staircase of major arcana, one by one, and reach enlightenment.
The Fool, then, embarks on a journey and takes through the great mysteries of life.
Persona 2's battle system revolves around each party member being able to utilize personae of different arcana and swap around them at will. This was changed in later installments of the series, where only the main character embodying The Fool is capable of expressing these archetypes at will.
Additionally, Yu's personae become obsolete after a couple of levels (with exceptions late into the game). They evolve slowly and have only a handful of new abilities to acquire, in contrast to the rest of the investigation team whose personae evolve throughout.
Tumblr media
There is indeed great power hidden within The Fool, that's obvious to anyone who's done a casual playthrough of the game. Yet should Yu neglect his growth, Izanagi remains by far the weakest implicit persona out of all the cast. The Fool offers potential, but nothing more. Additionally, all of Yu's social stats are set at 0 and begins the game in something similar to a tabula rasa state.
Yu isn't completely devoid of personality, however. Though the game's frequent dialogue options "allow" you to "form" his personality yourself, his personality is more defined by the choices you don't get. He's good with children, level-headed, and just overall painfully earth sign coded. There's an interesting push and pull between the game's limitations and what it's trying to accomplish in its abstract Jungian view. If Yu isn't a complete tabula rasa, then it's easy to interpret him as just a quiet, kind of boring but dependable young man. If interpreted like that, one has to wonder why he's the one to get the privilege of the wild card ability. Perhaps it's Izanami's will at the beginning of the game which set off the events, maybe it's Atlus continuing the trend of keeping the main character special as a vector for players' power fantasies. Maybe it's something else entirely. Interpreted like this, Yu isn't inherently special in any way but is given significant narrative weight through archetypal dominance.
In the same way, the Velvet Room remains exclusive to him and its denizens. This is in stark contrast to Persona 2, where the entire main cast was free to enter and interact with that very special place.
I've found this exaltation of the main character to be directly in conflict with my "truth" since I was 14, and was one of the things that had eroded my interest in the series. Though MC syndrome is everpresent and sometimes a fun distraction, in a game like Persona which seemingly seeks to model something fundamental about humanity it seems more than out of place. Should we accept that everyone but Yu is simply fated and incapable of embodying more than one archetype? You could interpret the arcana, not as representations of the characters themselves, but as lessons they represent to Yu himself. The fact that the rest of the investigation team is limited to only one persona throughout the game suggests otherwise (and not to mention, certain spinoff games implicitly reject this view themselves).
With such an interpretation, it's easy to see a bleak and misanthropic picture painted by the symbols overlaying this story. Yu is the only one capable of reaching enlightenment, and the rest of the cast is fated to experience and embody only a fraction of the full human experience. Basically, if you're not a Taurus you might as well just kill yourself.
This, however, is just an interpretation. Should you disregard the narrative importance of the arcana and personae you're given more space to interpret Yu and the rest of the cast. For a game series as laden as symbolism as it is, I'm not particularly keen on accepting that truth as well.
Should Yu be considered as a standard model for any individual? According to Persona 4, no, he's an exception.
Tumblr media
Here's one way out of this ideological hole. Igor mentions responsibility:
Tumblr media
This is hammered home throughout the games. Your actions and your decisions are yours to make, and the consequences are yours to resolve. Really, the responsibility in this story falls on your shoulders. Should your choices be less than satisfactory at a crucial point in the game, you fail. Should your direction be mistaken, you've endangered the rest of the cast. This is evident both in gameplay and narrative. Perhaps the wild card is bestowed upon those who're prepared to take responsibility for themselves and their lives. What led Yu to the Velvet Room is a mystery, but he has accepted its terms and received its blessings in turn.
Furthermore, we know that the arcanum is not fixed in place. Should one overcome their trials, they're then ready to begin their spiritual ascent. Aigis has accepted life on her own terms and was granted the wild card herself. One can then interpret The Fool as nothing more than a state of mind, and an openness to experience life and others unobstructed by self-imposed obstacles.
Persona 3 allows for this interpretation more elegantly, as there are no personal shadows to overcome. Persona 4, then, requires more nuance. The shadows they overcome are not triumphs over their trials, just acknowledgments. Seen as such, Persona 4's characterization parses much better. This, then, can be seen as Yu's story and nobody else's. It's a shame then that he's made as a proxy for the player (unsuccessfully, IMO).
Why Yu had no shadow is then trivial. He had no personal trials to overcome himself, hence he's ready to receive the arcana's wisdom. How he achieved that, then, is something only he knows. Maybe he just had a good relationship with his dad.
This, then, brings about assumptions and will put more weight on the game's narrative. Should a personal shadow be overcome, what does that mean for the person? We'll explore this a bit down the line.
If you've read Umineko (and perceived it as I did) you could say this was an exercise in love. I'd disagree. Really, I've forced the game to fit into my internal framework. I've no qualms about doing so, and I'll keep doing it. Unlike a person, a story is written, fixed in place, and frozen. To do this to a person is to compartmentalize them. Like that imp post that said: you're not good at bringing yourself to someone's level, you're good at manipulating people to get on yours.
I think that's the correct way to engage with a story. Keep thinking, and you'll find yourself represented everywhere. I've rejected the simple truth and have found another one. Whichever one was "intended" is something I'll never have the privilege of knowing, hence both hold equal weight. If I spend more time and look further, maybe another truth will be within my grasp.
Anyway. Yosuke, Chie, and Yukiko's social links have opened up. I'll certainly be talking about those down the line. I've nothing much to say about their shadows individually, but maybe as a whole once the game nears its climax.
