idk how to explain this but Theoretical Physicist is inkling coded . maybe its cuz splatoon species social hierarchy

Native ink color is Orange, but he has Dark Brown tentacle roots.

Uses custom weapons to attach in place of his prosthetic; It works best with Splatlings but can be adjusted to attach other weapons.

If the thing above didn't make it obvious, he's a Splatling main. He switches out depending on his mood though.

His arm loss is like pretty much the same as in-canon but it's with the octarian army shrugs. don't ask me why he doesn't just regenerate it cuz hes a squid thats for me to know and you to find out. (get partially sanitized loser)

Native ink color is orange-brown.

His hat has an eye guard for sensory reasons; He covers up as much of his skin as possible because he doesn't like the feeling of foreign ink on him.

He isn't a specific weapon main, he just uses any long-range weapon to minimize the possibility of getting ink on himself. If he has enough guarding, he prefers to use N-ZAP '89.

Makes his own gear for sensory reasons as well :) It's legal when ur dad's the G-Man.

Exclusively plays in Turf Wars, Anarchy Battles, etc with friends. He hates playing with people he doesn't know.

Born in Splatsville !! He feels like a Splatsville resident. His occupation is resident I cannot imagine him doing Anything

Great Turf War veteran; He didn't do anything in the war itself, he was just enlisted lol. He was primarily security for the Octarian Domes in the years after the war. Yes, that also means he is over 100 years old.

"Raised" (debatably) in Octo Canyon.

E-liter main (4-star Base + 5-star Scope) and avid squidbagger. He also uses any heavyweight weapons (dynamo, tenta, etc)

Absolutely hates working at Grizzco, he only does Turf Wars and Anarchy Battles. He only works at Grizzco during Big Runs. The type of guy that does X battles.

Professional Anarchy / Ranked / X Battler btw. That's literally 90% of what he does.

Genuinely don't have a lot to say about his design. He gives off Splatoon 2 Octoling vibes (showoff /hj) also i wanted to make his hair wispy like it should be.

Native ink color is a light blue-gray gradient.

The drawing doesn't give it credit but I swear those are glasses not goggles .. they're opaque-colored slanted oval glasses !! ^_^ u can interpret them as spiked or just eyelashes, both are right.

oh also the text under bubby says "Is Best" in some splatoon font we downloaded awhile ago . i think it was ripped from splatnet

Was going to make him an Octoling for the convenience of making his hair curly but i didn't want to make all of them octolings + i think his personality generally fits Inklings more.

All There is to Know About Ichiya

Ichiya handles all the songwriting for the band, while Namida brings his melodies together, since he doesn't know how to read music or anything about music theory. He is said to just make up songs with his flashy riffs. [X]

He is said to have a sort of rock star charm, which his bandmates are drawn to, and the nature of a prodigy. [X]

Ikkan is said to be drawing out Ichiya's potential. [X]

However Ichiya he is said to have a temper and stated to be quite selfish also. [X]

This is also supported by the fact Ichiya and Ikkan seems to have gotten into an argument that turned physical and ended with them shooting at each other. [X]

It is said that the reason for the fight was creative differences. To expand upon this, in Ikkan's words, "Everyone around me was a yes-man, there was no tension in songwriting at all." and considering like i said, Ichiya handles ALL songwriting in SQSQ, it is very evident two came head to head.

It also seems to imply the other two, Mura and Nami indulged Ichiya and didn't seem to ever tell him no.

It can also be speculated he is somewhat stubborn, as the band fell apart with him and Ikkan refusing to show up to practice anymore. [X]

The phrasing of Beika's tweets when they talk about Ichiya seems to imply Ichiya being around 14 when he arrived to Inkopolis, after the end of middle school. (Which isn't impossible with Harmony being 14 during Splatoon 1 as well)

I should know- I went to middle school with him. He decided he was going to go to Inkopolis, and then after a little while, he told me that he had debuted with a band.

He likes taking walks as a hobby.[X]

He has a rival in the form of Mizole, which i talk a whole lot about in here [X]

It is stated by Splatoonbase that after Squid Squad, all members went their separate way and focused on their own projects, though we only saw Ikkan's project per se. [X]

It is speculated by public that during Front Roe, Ichiya (and the others) wanted people to see beyond their past popularity, and see what they are capable of now. [X] This is supported by the fact Front Roe does not perform SQSQ songs. [X]

Ichiya is the only one who doesn't have a new/different expression in Front Roe art, Murasaki seeming displeased and Namida looking somber. This could perhaps hint he himself has not changed that much since SQSQ days, unlike his bandmates. [X]

As for Beika/Ichiya stuff.

(If you somewhat didn't know, Beika alleges Now or Never was stolen.)

Beika and Ichiya are said to have gone to/finished same middle school, as alleged by Beika. (This is new information Beika reveals to public, as indicated by large reaction to that particular tweet being much greater than others. [X])

Not only that, according to Beika's allegations, Ichiya did contact Beika.

He decided he was going to go to Inkopolis, and then after a little while, he told me that he had debuted with a band. I tried listening to them just to find out that their sound was so soft that it made my ink churn.

Things seem to point towards inklings of truth in Beika's words. Front Roe are said to be avoiding Splatsville (which is coincidentally C-side's base of operations) for, reasons "unknown"[X]. However the fact Ichiya has his signature on the Hotlantis wall shows this aversion is a new development and may have coincided with a certain someone's rise to fame. If unrelated, why avoid Splatsville in the first place?

Front Roe is said to have not commented on the predicament, but the article alleges they must be furious [X].

And that is all.

(I have previously speculated Beika's allegations might be true in other posts, and I still am steadfast in my position. New things seem to point towards that direction, like Ichiya carrying the sole responsiblity of songwriting in SQSQ, and with him being selfish, so on and so such but again this is my interpretation)

rat brainrot going hard

sorry for not posting this week, i was cooking some stuff but this drawing took almost the entire week to do, worst part, it was a shitpost

i still dont know why this took me so much

so uh, almost all my drawings this week have been related to this two(and lis) so much so that i struggled because i wanted to draw other things so i would just stare at a blank sheet of paper for over half an hour, god that was torture, tho i dont mind drawing the sillies, sometimes it gets a bit boring drawing the same over and over y'know? im also going to take this as an opportunity to ramble about my forgo gijinka, because surprisingly i hadnt done that yet.

ok now to actually talk about the wet rat

ive tried doing a gijinka of em since i joined the fandom (my first gijinka was fecto elfilis (well not really they were fnaf, but i mean when i got into kirby and when i started using the term gijinka))

but most of the time it just looked like elfilin but like...evil, with a different ear and a hospital gown, thats it, so i barely drew them since i didnt like that, but on february, i actually sketched an idea that i liked, and thought it looked cute but a bit off (i mean off in a good way)

(yes im posting this image again because i think its the best drawing of my forgo (im very inconsistent with my style ok))

they have their eyes closed most of time, like in game, i considered giving them legs but i ended up with the tail, since i didnt want to end up with like a fourth evil elfilin, the arms are like that so i can have em be small and weird like in the actual game, but i also made it so they can like change it, that way i can make em have hands and stuff if necessary (like to hold that frying pan for example)

not sure if a lot of you notice it but um, bro has no neck, i took away his neck privileges, i did it just to see but i ended up falling in love with that and stuck around, and also that allows me to draw them bending their head like in the drawing above because their neck isnt necking and i like that, i like being able to draw characters doing stuff that shouldnt be anatomically possible or is abnormal (i did something a bit similar with void) thair clothes are rugged because well forgotten land you know what i mean, but in general theyre actually pretty simple

i also did the drawing in digital

i tried doing very sketchy lineart, i tried a new brush in this one and thats the one im using for my last drawings (not sure if anyone noticed the brush change) it was pain painting it because i did it all with the brush in the same size, not changing it, god did my hands hurt and it was a bad idea

i think they would wear something like this to sleep, i dunno i just wanted to draw em in something cute, and sleepy, with elfilin slippers (the mug also has elfilin btw) oh and also i like changing their hair, here one of their long bangs is tied into a bow, kinda like callie from splatoon, i have some drawing im probably wont post, one more of forgo wich looks very much like the upper one but like eyes closed, and one of fecto elfilis gyaru because my sister asked me to draw them like that, bad thing is i didnt look up references on gyaru since i couldnt use my phone at the moment, i did like the hair i did for them in that one tho, they have their bangs tied up in a bun, and then left the rest loose, making it look longer than it actually is. i might redraw it, but actually looking up gyaru so i can make something more accurate, i like the style, but im not too informed on it

based on the kirby manga, where they make it so elfilis sings really bad, at first i didnt like it that much since i had imagined they'd sign great, but after i while i started to find it a bit cute so now its a headcanon, they like to sing but suck at it.

writing this just made me remember i wanted to do another drawing too for this with kirby and them singing, but i forgot to do it, im kinda tired (and its late) ill probably draw it, but for next post or another one

tried drawing fecto forgo as a plushie, silly.

i wanna learn how to sew so i can make plushies of characters (like prince fluf!) but im way too lazy, i will get around it some day! (hopefully)

but as i said, im way too lazy and unmotivated, though its be nice, one day, maybe one day if i stop procrastinating

it doesnt have the same ring to it as "feto rata mojada alien" wich is how my sister and i call them (she doesnt know that much about kirby, but i sometimes show her my drawings (reluctantly sometimes, but im the older so like >:) she has too if she wants to show me her stuff too))

i think these are from tuesday. i did more but those were oc (mostly splatoon) or other kirby character related, and i want this to be a rat post (might post those tommorow or another day maybe)

i dunno (x2), i tried drawing elfilin like elfilis, i really liked the hands here. i still struggle a bit with anatomy but i think this was quite good for my usual character just stading looking at the front or a quarter profile. im considering making this into a fully digital drawing, what do i say by considering im actually doing that fuck it, i just think it looks kinda cool

Chaos Elfilis reminds me of a moth. kirby's hope is a bright light.

you can see my thought process. i just thought itd be a bit cute and kinda silly and funny.

the kirby fandom wiki, said that chaos elfilis looked akin to a moth, and it just stuck with me, so i wanted my gijinka of them to be moth inspired, and thats when i saw just how cute moths are! i mean im still a bit scared of insects but at least now i kinda like em.

i feel like i need to say sorry to that one moth i desintegrated in a matter of seconds with a book because i thought it was an spider and didnt think (im so sorry little guy)

but ah yeah elfilis, moth, it made sense to me since chaos elfilis has the soul of morpho knight, who is a butterfly, and moths are kinda like butterflies too. and i thought itd be cute

so uh yeah i sometimes like making my chaos elfilis be a bit like a moth, that includes liking light, a lot, so uh kirby is like a lamp in here because i said so

now to talk about the desing since for some reason i hadnt earlier, as i said before, they are very moth inpired so uh im might say that word way too many times (im sorry i suck at explaining stuff)

their horns are thinner to resemble moth anntenae, and they curve just because i thought it look cool, and to differentiate it a bit from fecto elfilis. their bangs tie into a bun (i forgot to draw that but i dont wanna go and change it now, way too tiredv man and i still have to post this on other places) the bun looks a bit like an eye, because well, they are basically a soul boss, and moths have things in their wings that look like eyes, btw chaos elfilis doesnt have their wings here because i got lazy and i didnt want them to like cover most of the drawing. the things coming from their bun are like the trhee things theyve got in their head, theyre shaped like that to resemble insects legs a bit, fecto elfilis also had the 3 things (i dunno how to call em sorry) as their eyelashes, but chaos elfilis has just white eyelashes, because the bun already has the 3 things and because my morpho has white eyelashes so (i still havent done my morpho gijinka yet, i just know im gonna give the butterfly some white eyelashes cuz cute and pretty grimm reaper) the rest of the hair is shaped into like a ponytail but like, adn shaped, with whats left shaped like a lil moth

the waistband they have is a nod to morpho, they used to have a bow shaped just like the butterfly morpho appears as, but i took it out because i thought it crowded the design way too much, and also because it was too on the nose. the arms have those golden things because my fecto has it and because my og chaos elfilis gijinka had them so i wanted to bring it back, the hand fades into white because the red in the hand wasnt hard to distinguish so i came up with that to make it easier to see.

the red part of the pants are actually a bit fuzzy akin to a moth and the white part has those stripes to loke like insect stuff because y'know akin to a moth. the boots are like the red part in their legs their model in-game has, so i just made em tall boots, the high heels? originally it was platform just ike my fecto but then i wanted to draw them in high heels when i was slightly redoing chaos elfilis, and welp, i loved it and now theyve got high heels. those rings around the ankle are inspired by the ones leaongar has around their arm. also can you tell anatomy is not my strong suit? and that i dont draw high heels often?

i made a slight change in my kirby, making the sleeves be a different color, since the one he had before i felt was way too white, and i wanted to have more saturation in it

i also forgot but elfilin is supposed to wear that during forgotten land, and then i decided that after the anding of the main story he changes clothes, but i forgot about that while doing this so he has his pre-ending clothes (also because i still cant really decide on their second outfit for the post-game)

god im so tired i wanna talk and show more drawings but o shit im sweating why is it so hot in here

3. What ideas come from when you were little

uuuhhhh...... I don't actually know, honestly.

If you're generous with the term "little" you could say that some of my ocs are technically pretty old(mainly one of my Sonic ocs and Tsunami).

not a whole ton artistically that I can think of tho

4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw

Any kind of weapon, doesn't matter what universe, they all suck.

5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself

I'd say I share about 95%, and that might be lowballing it. I like sharing the stuff I make, so I really only not share something if it's really personal or I don't like it for some reason, neither of which happen very often.

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in

Not really "lost interest" and more of "realized the stupid amount of work that'd have to go into it"; I've always wanted to make either a comic or animated series with my Sonic/Splatoon ocs the latter was a bit more recently, but you know, going into their stories. But I realized the insane amount of work that goes into either of those, came to the conclusion that I probably wouldn't be able to force myself to finish it, and lost motivation.

Someday, maybe, but probably not any time soon.

12. Easiest part of body to draw

Arms and legs, minus the things at the ends lol(I'm getting better at hands tho, feet are just annoying more than anything).

14. Any favorite motifs

I like using colors to associate things with other things. And now that I have a cast of characters that can change color literally at will, I can do that even better :3c

23. Do you use different layer modes

Yes, they are almost entirely how I do my shading and some color stuff as well.

30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated

I kinda get why, but I feel like a lot of my Sonic art doesn't get as much attention as I would like. And my 3d renders, though again, I kinda get why.

11. do you listen to anything while drawing?

oooh ok, usually i listen to video essays that are an hour or more (hbomberguy, nezumiva, and sagan hawkes come to mind) because constantly switching videos can be annoying if im in the zone yk? BUT if im listening to music ill usually listen to something on loop. recently its been pretty much any song from Sonic Frontiers (i finished it recently,, Stillness and Motion is very quickly becoming one of my favorite albums . ever.), any Sonic song in GENERAL tbh-- or some splatoon music if im feeling the vibe! or if i really wanna get in the Zone, ill put on some synthwave radio livestream from that one lofi girl channel lol, i usually use it for homework but it helps me focus! . anyways that was probably too long of an answer-- yes. i do listen to stuff when i draw LMAOOO

6. favorite thing to draw?

OHH. just one??? hmmmm ok,,,, i think i really like to draw either clothing folds OR practicing body types,,, thinking about the bone structure as im drawing has been a much needed thing with my style, and both of those make me think about whats underneath the thing im drawing and what components go into it. other than those tho, im partial to drawing my little alien critters <3

While I don't have a wii u, I played luigi's mansion dark moon online with 3 others around the world, we all stood together for a photo by making luigi smile, we spammed Hey! Hey! (i didn't have space on my phone for a photo though, but I written down everything to hopefully make a drawing with their usernames for each luigi color varient they were to capture that moment) and we all spammed "thank you very much!" Before servers didn't let us in on the final floor. 3ds network's closed earlier than splatoon but I watched Jaymoji and Dude play splatoon in the last hours, and then someone else plsy until the thing actually ended-ended for good.

I was someone who won a wii u for my summer camp (and it was a trivia that was based on things i'm knowledgeable about) and they had a backup incase I wasn't there. I didn't get to keep the extra one, nor the one I won, but it had splatoon on it. I got to play it now and then,but never splatfests. So I participated by watching them online, and hoping my team won. I didn't get to play it too much because everyone else wanted to play mario kart and smash bros. :'3

Splatoon 2 may be my home since I played it most (but I only got to play repeatfests and the mushroom vs star fesr), and Dark moon's getting a remake:

Splatoon 1 and Dark moon on the 3ds were something so magical to experience. Yes there's pretendo but I waiting on a new 3ds to hack since mine has personal photos I want to download and print before I hack anything. I hope to also get a wii u and participate in the pretendo fests, you don't need to hack anything to play wii u's pretendo service.

But still. That magic of being there in that moment. Both games mean so much to me.

I'm transmasc who presents mostly masc I'm queer and acespec. Personality wise I'm a pretty big clown, I cannot take a single thing seriously unless needed. Despite that I am frequently described as a loner, I have PTSD and do have quick and drastic changes in mood if triggered so I can be perceived as unstable. I also have anxiety and depression. Otherwise I'm pretty calm and relaxed, much preferring to stay in and relax than do anything that exciting.

Hobbies wise I'm a total nerd I love videogames (specifically sandbox, open world survival craft management games generally 'softer' games) and I draw digitally. I also garden frequently and watch way to many shit tv shows for the drama of it. My favorite video games currently are oxygen not included, Splatoon 3, and subnautica. I also love comic books and quantum physics drama (yes I love the drama it is surprisingly delicious)

You two go around and mess with others (Sodo) together. He doesn't take anything seriously either.

Unless, of course, it comes to your mental health. As goofy as he is, he notices your mood changes.

And if it gets bad, he will scoop you up and take you some place safe so you can slowly chill out.

He's there with you the entire time. If you want to be held, he's holding you. If you want space, he's just gonna sit in the same room, just far enough for you to be comfortable. And if you don't want attention, he'll just chill around, but still won't leave the room.

What I'm saying is, he adapts to whatever you tell him. But he will not leave you alone.

He'll do his best to cheer you up. Tells you dumb stories, comes up with stupid jokes and pick-up lines... He's 100% willing to make an idiot out of himself for your sake. Whatever helps.

He does his best to keep all your potential triggers in mind and prevent anything from happening. He's goofy, but he's very serious when it comes to his feelings towards you.

Absolutely loves the idea of staying home to cuddle with you. Adores it.

And he's a big buff guy! He loves holding you close! Just look at his arms and tell me they don't feel welcoming.

Aether's a gamer and you can't convince me otherwise.

Leave him alone on Mineraft for a night and you'll wake up with a so fucking many things that should not be logically possible to make in one night.

He's just... so good at games automatically? It does not make sense, honestly.

You know how there's this meme that if you can't beat a game, you get your sibling? Well, you get Aether and he somehow gets it done within three attempts.

Carries your stuff while you garden. He's not very good at handling plants, but if there's something heavy, he's gonna carry it behind you like a very excited puppy.

Watches shows with you and gossips about the characters with you like it's real.

Splatoon 3 did Deep Cut dirty to an absurd degree: An Analysis

So, for starters, context on my general opinion on everything in splatoon 3: They kind of did everything dirty besides Side Order.

It isn't to say that Splatoon 3 only had bad ideas- Looking through the art book, they were cooking like crazy, and moreover, there's stuff in the final game that feels like, yes, this is really a step up for the franchise!

Splatsville itself is a GORGEOUS town. Moreover, it's easily, with NO competition, the best plaza. Frankly, the Inkopolis plazas always just left me feeling a little disappointed, wishing desperately to be able to explore the city, but you're cooped up into the absolute smallest space necessary. This doesn't feel like the heart of the town, this feels like a sad little strip mall. But SPLATSVILLE finally really lets you feel like you're in the heart of the city, surrounded by massive buildings, kinetic movement everywhere with the train overhead and the waterway in the back.

That being said, it's... not really utilized. At all. Like... There's one more store than normal, with Hotlantis, but that's really it. You can't sit in chairs or buy stuff from the stands and such. Splatsville is great, but it's kind of just going unused, underappreciated. Not strictly to say that adding little actions in particular would mean everyone would love it, but point being, it only just meets the mechanical standards of the series without feeling like a step forward, despite there clearly being a desire to make a larger, more meaningful area.

Tableturf Battle is a HUGE deal- splatoon gameplay that is going out of its way to diversify itself and spin off from the traditional shooter gameplay. I've been starving desperately for splatoon spin-offs, this was a huge deal to me in particular.

...But tableturf battle itself is genuinely an unbelievably boring game to me, this coming from someone who LOVES card games, and especially this abstract kind of card game. But there's no variety to the gameplay- there's very very little variety in deckbuilding strategy, the core mechanics are extremely straightforward and don't exactly leave much room for different game experiences, and there is virtually no room for skill expression because the entire thing is just a combination of card-drawing RNG and the RNG of where your opponent will place their turf.

Lockers were a huge deal- one of the things I want more desperately in this world than anything is a splatoon life sim, ever since the splatoon 1 loading screen I've wanted a little apartment you can buy stuff for and decorate and this is VERY close to being that.

...But, of course, it's not that. You have a microscopic amount of space, there's not exactly any reason to keep coming back and redecorating it- once you're satisfied with your locker you're kinda done, you can't save it and there's not enough room to really have multiple areas of your locker to any significant degree.

I have more examples, but my point is, these things are all great base concepts- they make me excited for the future of the series. Excited to see bigger locations, excited to see more spinoffs to splatoon gameplay, excited to be given my own space in this setting- but Splatoon 3 itself feels like it's not dedicated to actually making the things inside of it matter.

Case and point, Deep Cut.

Deep Cut are genuinely my favorite idols design-wise, and that's a stunning feat when I have ADORED every other set of idols. They are so unique looking, and they're deeply culturally inspired, and they bring that into everything they do, they are FANTASTIC.

But Splatoon 3 does NOTHING with them.

I was speaking with my friends on this- the way I put it was that the power balance of the idols are RIDICULOUSLY out of wack. In this context, "strength" refers to their overall impact as characters.

Callie and Marie are obviously enormously strong- the Calamari Inkantation is, bluntly, THE song of Splatoon. It means everything, both to the players, and to the setting, being a folk song of calamari county, and being the song that inspired so many octarians to fight for their freedom. They have all of Splatoon 1's campaign to be characterized, and that continues in Splatoon 2's campaign. The final splatfest of Splatoon 1 was the first titanic battle of the series- Bomb Rush Blush and Tide Goes Out were the encapsulation of their entire identities, it was perfect. I won't tell you that Splatoon 2's campaign is a masterpiece, I'll never stop complaining about fighting the same Octavio fight over and over- but Callie and Marie are perfect within it, the perfect resolution to the divide that the final splatfest split between the two.

I'm a total sucker for this, so pardon me gushing, but like... as Whatever as the fight was, the song was EVERYTHING. Callie's silly peppy song twisted by Octavio's usual desperately-imposing style of music to create this twisted mirror of Callie's song, taking her energy and turning it back on you in a childish tantrum.

And then Marie is there- After that, the entire energy of the song changes. The daunting backing of Octavio's contribution is warped back into a triumphant orchestra as Marie sings, her mature, calming voice settling what broke and making everything okay... And then, after all this time, the two songs join together, these songs that are so different existing side by side again, like they always should have.

(And then they get EVEN MORE SPOTLIGHT in Splatoon 3's campaign. It's not particularly amazing because Splatoon 3's campaign is terrible, but I'll get back to that later.)

What I want to highlight here is that one of the things that makes a group special in Splatoon is having moments like these; titanic, legendary moments that permanently take the song and imbue them with great importance in the history of the game. Splatoon songs don't have actual lyrics- their meaning kind of needs to be given to them by context, and songs like these, Calamari Inkantation, Bomb Rush Blush, and Tide Goes Out, have extremely moving context.

Off The Hook has a RIDICULOUS amount of importance. I mean, obviously, right? You aren't a splatoon fan if you do not care deeply about Off The Hook. They're core to the entire message of the franchise. They have Splatoon 2, and then Octo Expansion, and then Side Order- each of these layers onto themselves over and over. Ebb & Flow, their introductory song, has been given so much importance as time has gone on. Octo Expansion shows Marina's demo for it- the part of Ebb & Flow in particular that hits me is that, this is Marina's song. It perfectly encapsulates Marina and Pearl's relationship- The final song doesn't exactly include a *lot* of Pearl. To me, it feels like the point of Ebb & Flow isn't merely that it is Marina And Pearl's Song: Pearl in this song feels like a hype man. Pearl didn't make Off The Hook just to make herself famous- she would phrase it like that, but Ebb & Flow feels to me like it's Pearl saying: Look at how talented this girl is! She's going to rock this world and I'm taking her to the top no matter what it takes!

And that continues with the later versions of Ebb & Flow- Fly Octo Fly will genuinely always make me cry listening to it. Fly Octo Fly is Eight's song- In the same way that E&F was to heighten Marina, Fly Octo Fly is there to hype up Eight- She's gone through hell and back to earn her freedom, no apocalyptic force is strong enough to deny her of that.

And while I'm on the topic of Octo Expansion, there's also Nasty Majesty, that song that ripped through that legendary trailer for Octo Expansion- the song emanates unstoppable force. Nothing can stop Eight, she's going to tear this place to the ground.

Into The Light is such a gripping song. It's so warm, gentle, smooth, after the chaos of fighting for your life... it represents to me the warmth of Eight, finally on the surface, finally able to see the sun. Finally able to live in the world you fought so long to achieve.

And frankly I could be here all day talking about the songs in Side Order with immense gravity- Maybe I'll go through them at a later date, but, while Fly Octo Fly is still my #1, Side Order manages to have even more massive dynamic song-moments like this.

Point being, Marina and Pearl are fucking insanely stacked. They make Callie and Marie look like fucking nobodies in terms of how much impact they have had on this series. And, for the record, this isn't a complaint to say that they have too much attention- I fucking LOOOOOVE them. They deserved every moment, and quite frankly, I still want more. I will never not love them. They are everything.

Deep Cut exists

Like. It's heartbreaking. It's really not the fault of their music- Anarchy Rainbow is a gorgeous song. But like... It doesn't carry the weight of the other idol 'intro' songs; it doesn't feel as though it really stands for anything in particular, and that's not because of the song- it's because Deep Cut has never really stood for anything in particular.

The story only really tells us one meaningful thing about Deep Cut, and that's that they are looters, for the sake of helping the many, many less fortunate people in this injust world. And that angle is fucking awesome- like the other positive things I've said about Splatoon 3, this is a GREAT first step.

And that's just kind of the only thing we've heard on the matter.

Like... yes, there is a general sense of pride, togetherness, and that's great, but that isn't really "context", those are just general positive vibes. I don't listen to Anarchy Rainbow and think about how this song ties into Deep Cut, because Deep Cut has never done anything.

And this goes for all of their songs. Like, they're mechanically great songs, but they don't make me feel anything. The only thing I really associate Deep Cut with is how fucking toxic people in the Splatoon 3 fanbase are about splatfests. It takes a lot to make me have a negative association for a Splatoon song, but Deep Cut are just like... totally pointless.

I think it really, really speaks to how truly fucked Deep Cut are by Splatoon 3, that these are the only idols that have THEIR OWN FUCKING BOSS FIGHTS, but they don't even get their own songs for the fights. Like, the Deep Cut boss fight theme is a good video game song, but it's not a meaningful song in any way. This is amplified by the fact that Deep Cut's entire presence in the story feels like it's solely out of pity. Like, they couldn't be in Side Order, And they already set up Callie and Marie as your main companion characters, so they just needed to have Deep Cut in there SOMEHOW. Like... There is nothing there. Their entire motive is just that they want to steal the Ambiguous Things. This isn't a fight with any meaningful stakes at all, they don't even know what these Things are, they're just taking them because they are an object that they can take.

And they don't even get to sing their own fucking song in the final boss! THIS is the most aggressive robbery in the entire series; it's just fucking Calamari Inkantation again. I love the Calamari Inkantation, but it has literally zero relevance to this fight at all. This fight has literally nothing to do with it. And, for the record, the fight has nothing to do with Deep Cut either, but they don't even get to sing their fucking song! They just sing a song that's been recycled in every single game up to this point! Like, no, the context of Calamari Inkantation is not going to be about how Neo 3 went to space to fight Mr. Grizz, sorry- this moment isn't even important enough to leave an impact on a new song, how the fuck could you ever think it could leave an impact on literally the most important song in the franchise?

Shit's just fucked. They really really really deserve so much more. Like... it's bad enough you got stuck having to deal with being in Splatoon 3, you don't even get an ounce of attention in your own game, and half of the fanbase hates one of the members for dumbfuck reasons. It's truly miserable.

Despite how much I don't care for Splatoon 3, I really, really, really, DEEPLY pray that the final splatfest gives Deep Cut... SOMETHING. Whatever happens, I just pray that they get to have their own spotlight for the first time. But, since it's a splatfest, I can't help but fear it'll be bogged down by how fucking toxic this fandom is about the splatfests in this game. It's such a shame...

Deep Cut simply needs to have an enormous focal point in the next Splatoon game. Like. I will truly weep if Splatoon 4 comes and passes without Deep Cut getting the justice they deserve.

ok so im gonna stick to the bird kids cuz theyre a lot easier to explain GSJFD (maybe someday ill give my other ocs refs and backstory stuff....)

all four of em are very much based off how i play the game as each character, so i pretty much just grab my in-game behaviour and give it to em as a personality.

so, lorikeet! splat3 is still very new but i think ive somehow already solidified their personality lmao. theyre super reckless, pretty much always falling off stages and getting themself splatted by doing stupid things like running headfirst to a tacticooler or trying to challenge the eliter that wont leave them alone (i think mahi-mahi is the absolute worst for this). they like to go a little bit cazy and get as many kills as possible, which is silly when the only mode u play is turf war... (on that, there is not a single splatoon game that has gotten me to like ranked/league. i played it a few times and then swore off it, so now all four of the kids hate ranked lol)

lori fucking ADORES deep cut so theyve got the three earrings in their right ear bc they wanna be like shiver and frye. on deep cut, they love splatfests and all the music n fun stuff that comes with it. theyre weirdly not too competitive when it comes to defending their team, BUT they will go extra feral during splatfest turf wars and go complete beast mode. they still dont have a main weapon? favours brushes but thats pippins thing so they should probably pick something else GDKGS

oh they have the worst adhd brain. if they see something cool happening in the bg of a stage they will just straight up stop in their tracks and watch for a while, completely oblivious to whatever is happening in the match. and of course the moment they hear the tacticooler they will run for it even if theyre literally in the opposite end of the stage.... stupid. favourite stage is yet to be decided, gotta let the game marinate for a while longer

as the new agent 3 lori is pretty good at following orders, they just kinda... die in the dumbest possible ways. trying to jump through walls, walking straight off ledges, accidentally attracting attention to themself by throwing lil buddy right next to them. but theyre pretty good at fighting! also they like annoying the captain, because of course (this doesnt bode well for kiwi)

id like to build more on their character eventually but that requires me playing more splat3 and ive been rly unmotivated to do so >:/ ive barely played any salmon run and still havent touched table turf. augh. lori u will grow as a person i promise

now PIPPIN! (she/they) theyre my kid from octo expansion! shes very silly but surprisingly strong and skilled. never asked for help from OTH and went through every single test multiple times to get every weapon ticked (hell). also enjoys fighting inner agent 3 because ??? clearly a lot more competent than theyre letting on.

so once pip came to the surface they were very much like "id rather NOT do the whole fighting thing again" and jumped into turf wars with the intention of just having fun and messing with people. her gear set is 100% QSJ cuz she likes annoying the enemy team and then jumping away like a coward when theyre cornered (it jumpscares people bc they dont expect an octo to jump THAT fast).

she uses brush so that they can draw love hearts in enemy base :] they think its very cute and gets sad when ppl ink over it. also if an enemy tries to initiate a party they will always join bc make love not war etc. always goes for the highest inkage (highest score excluding win points was over 2000) favourite stage is inkblot art academy!

zero sense of fashion btw they either wear the QSJ gear or whatever they think will make her look hot (big fan of the octoling armour and marinas crop top). sometimes changes gender to Boy bc why the hell not, gender is arbitrary.

when grouped up with the others, they like teaming up with pigeon to cause chaos and havoc. shes very excited to see lori joining the team cuz theyre equally as insane as the other two! kiwi is the only one carrying a braincell here rip

PIGEON time!! (also she/they) technically my first oc because splatoon 2 was my first game! so she definitely has the most going for them. foil flingza main (my beloved), absolutely a frontliner and goes for the kill as much as possible. very good at sneak attacks! main gear is almost entirely special charge up (sorry. im the og missile spammer) except for ninja squid which they use to scare the shit outta ppl.

pigeon adores the birds u see hanging out on various stages, especially the pigeons (naturally). favourite stage is moray towers! i never said we had good taste. moray is excellent for roller users and allows for fast clean base inking >:]

like the others they love a good squid party but isnt always in the mood, HOWEVER she will never splat an innocent partier bc thats a dick move. if theyre not a threat, theres no need to splat.

outside of turf, pigeon is actually not a very violent person. very sweet to their friends and oh so very lesbian. she sees a pretty girl in the square and goes 😳 (btw this DOES work in battle, be a cute girl and they will be distracted). fucking absolutely obsessed with squid beatz like you have no idea, aims to get gold on every hard mode song. favourite songs to play are frantic aspic, shark bytes, and entropical. she and pippin love playing games like this together, i bet theyd be great dance duo.

in hero mode, pigeon is naturally a completionist and obtained every weapon. fucking loves harassing marie and annoying her as much as possible. adores callie so much <3 their best speedrun time is 40 sec on octo samurai (sadly cant reach the world record of 39)

unlike pippin they actually have a pretty good fashion sense, always coordinating their outfits and ink colour to match. a very stylish squid!

now kiwi is an interesting one. i first played splatoon 1 in beginning of 2018, so sadly i missed out on the splatfests. still got plenty of turf in and played hero mode repeatedly bc i have brainrot!

so kiwi (again. she/they) is really into amiibo challenges, especially the kraken challenge. being a kraken for that long makes em feel powerful, and its lotsa fun. they actually spend far more time on hero missions than anything else, they enjoy turf on the occasion but find it weirdly intimidating (favourite stage is flounder heights!). she feels most at home in the valley, with craig and the squid sisters. theyre far too sympathetic toward octolings (unlike pigeon who just goes fucking ham) and tries her best to just avoid fighting them entirely. because of this, shes pretty good at stealth missions, especially since she rarely makes much noise anyway. theyre definitely the most low-key out of the four agents.

SO!! why do i name them all after birds? because.... i like birds :D yes im a wannabe ornithologist and birds are my main special interest. i also mainly name them after aus/nz birds cuz im just Like That. we have cool birds in australia, and lorikeet was just far too fitting to pass up. (btw pippin is short for peregrine falcon)

despite being so skilled in hero mode missions they do actually get hurt a lot and almost always has some kind of bandaid or gauze on her body from various injuries. is it a lack of skill, or just recklessness? hmmm (its definitely just because she doesnt take enough care of their body lol).

if kiwi were to be captain in splatoon 3, theyd definitely be just constantly scruffing new 3 by the collar to stop them from doing something stupid. is very afraid of a new idiot joining the gang, as if pip n pidge werent bad enough. all 4 as a splatfest team would definitely be the most chaotic thing possible.

also theyre this way because when i draw squirds (tagged on my blog as "wings au") i think its fun to see how different they all look! kiwi would certainly be more fitting as a bird of prey but i think they look so silly with the stubby wings so im not changing my mind. this does mean shes real fast at running! pip and lori are the fastest flyers, pigeon is just kinda in between rip

final note, theyre all at LEAST 18 just so that its not weird. they all use she/they except lori, whos exclusively they/them. they all fucking hate ranked but love hero missions. also all of them have 1 braincell bouncing between them (mainly held by kiwi)

Q: What do you post here? A: Mostly references for the world and environments as well as details from stages and maps. Weapon poses are also an ongoing project.

Q: How does the tag sorting work? Where should I start? A: Weapons, stages and locations are mostly tagged with their own names, so for the simplest answer just look up the name of the thing you need and see if it pops up.

Q: Where can I find Weapon references? A: Weapon Directory. Note that these are mostly POSE references for said weapons. For references purely for drawing the weapon, try Inkipedia or The Models Resource for full models.

Q: Where can I find references for a map or location? A: World Directory.

Q: I clicked on a tag and there’s nothing there. A: Chances are there’s no references yet. There’s a HUGE amount of things to be documented and I’m literally one guy. But if you suspect that the tag or link is misplaced or has a typo, send an ask!

Q: Can we use these as resources in our own projects? A: Yes, quite literally the point of this blog is to be useful for artists and creators!

Q: Do we need to provide credit if we use these as references? A: Not really, but it’s recommended as it would let more people know this blog exists!

Q: Where do you find your resources? A: Most of them are pictures taken by me inside of the game, some are pictures from the official art books.

Q: Do you run the blog alone? A: At the time of writing this, yes, and most if not all of the photos were taken by me. You might see friends helping in PBs though! And of course, viewer submissions are welcome and appreciated through the Ask Box!

Q: Why are you doing this? A: This is a resource that I always find myself needing and to my knowledge nobody was doing it yet. I couldn’t begin to count how many times I’ve wanted to draw something and been frustrated because the angle that I need of a location doesn’t exist or I don’t know how a specific weapon would be held or I don’t know what the streetlights at Flounder Heights look like, so I thought to myself, man, I wish these obscure references were just archived online and I could pull them up easily without having to go on a 20 minute image search/out of bounds video hunt to find what I need. And then I realized I COULD just do it myself. So here I am, doing it myself. You’re all welcome! Now none of us have to die mad not knowing what kind of ground tiles they use at the Reef! Artistic accuracy for the win!

Will you cover...

Q: ....a specific weapon that’s not covered yet? A: Very likely yes, if it’s a multiplayer main weapon in one of the games.

Q: Special Weapons? A: Yes, but they are harder to document because you can’t use specials in Photo Mode, so you need to hold a private battle. Shoutout to @tokopng for modeling the Splatoon 3 specials for the blog! For Splatoon 1 and 2, the references will be there, but unfortunately much more limited due to no photo mode.

Q: Sub Weapons? A: Yes, whichever ones I can. But for sub weapons, you should just be able to find the models online - again, for Splatoon 3 the documenting is easy, but games 1 and 2 no such luck.

Q: Canon characters? A: No. Those aren’t obscure at all in most cases, are very easy to find references for already through image search in any browser, and also have downloadable models if you REALLY need the deets.

Q: Salmon Run maps? A: Yes, shoutout to @fishsticxz and @smolnsalty for helping document these. I don’t know about Splatoon 2 maps because private jobs aren’t available, so no promises on those right now.

Q: Singleplayer hubs/levels? A: I am going to focus on covering the hub worlds and some stages, but the stages and levels are not going to be covered in much detail.

Q: Victory poses? A: For Splatoon 3, I am covering the weapon victory poses. Not doing the same for the other games, and for other victory poses you can find them on the net as is.

Q: Clothing/gear? A: Absolutely not.... there’s hundreds of pieces of gear - but if you need references look no further than Inkipedia! However, I will be posting clothes that are more obscure sometimes.

Q: Out of bounds? A: I have no means of going out of bounds, so unless someone submits their own photos this has to be a no, excluding stuff like jumping off the stage if there’s anything interesting under.

Q: When is (x) going to be covered? A: Hard to say, I don’t do this on a schedule. However, I prioritize Splatoon 3 as it is the easiest game to document things from and follow internal game order (stages and weapons).

Q: Can we ask for something that hasn’t been covered yet? A: Yes, but I won’t guarantee it’ll happen. However, if something is asked for and would normally be ages away, I might prioritize it over the actual order. If it’s on the list here and I’ve answered no, then no, I’m likely not going to cover it.

Would the culinary culture in Splatoon be different if they can only eat chunks of food? (I keep thinking of all the sensations/experiences that come from chewing food)

yes. well, clearly in splatoon it's not, but we already know the inklings are canonically just Human Lite despite not having teeth to chew food like we do, which would render a lot of foods TERRIBLE to eat even if you believe they do not have a radula. even if they JUST had their beak and a soft, flat tongue, they don't have anything in their mouth to grind food into paste... which, if you recall, is how we process like all food (unless you're REALLY excited about the meal, or lack teeth, or have a toothache. in the case of the latter, im sorry man)

Generally cephalopods are carnivorous, so stuff like rice and pasta or even bread aren't things that they would've come to eat naturally. The same goes for vegetables, which even the first game implies are a new thing in Inkopolis or squid culture (although it's unclear if this is even true or if it's a joke or exaggeration, this has never been expanded on). My headcanon is that these vegetable-based foods only recently became popular among Inklings due to influence from other cultures, namely species that are herbivorous. So as more mixed-species societies popped up, different foods that were fairly alien to other species also did, and eventually may have snaked their way into those species' diets if they were well-enough liked.

Generally I think Inklings' own culinary cultures would pretty much exclusively include meat (seafood), with the exception of fruit, which Inklings enjoy for their flavor, color and water content. But I think Inklings would be pretty simple with their cooking, meaning there's probably rarely much seasoning or even a side of any kind given those are mostly vegetable-based things - save for recent decades of course. Traditional inkfish food is probably finger food, grilled, deep-fried, or even raw. Small fried fish and fried shrimp are ever-popular, and utensils are really a fancier, newer thing. I like drawing inklings with suckers on their fingers, which also means that finger food would be the most natural way to eat something for them given that they can taste what they're about to eat before it's even in their mouth (which, among other things, is a very easy way to check if something is edible at all before it's in your body. Or if it's spicy).

Generally I think Inklings enjoy crunchy or crispy and fried food, which is typically meat or at least includes meat (usually that of crustaceans), and finger food is preferred for its simplicity and natural feel. The Crusty Seanwiches and Schwaffles are a very good example of the kind of food that is popular with Inklings, which also seek out the high calorie content because MY GOD, the energy consumption of even just one turf war has to be ridiculous. So as a whole i'd say they prefer food that is easy to eat by hand, rather than stuff that is so mushy you can't bite it at all or grab it... sauces are on thin fucking ice unless they are for dipping in.

When it comes to Octarians, I like to think their culinary culture is different from that of the surface, largely because of their wasteland surroundings unfit for farming much of anything even if they wanted to, and isolation from the rest of the world. Instead of the squids who like to fry and grill things, Octarians probably have more raw, pickled, dried and salted foods - these are foods that are easy to make and very easy to store for long periods of time, which is crucial when your society doesn't have all the food in the world to pass around as a given. They might have kelp as a side dish or an addition in soup every now and then, but most of their food is definitely some form of meat. Vegetables are mostly absent from Octarian cuisine due to not really being nutritionally helpful to octarians, like almost at all. Surprisingly, in spite of this, wasabi is a really big thing and is used as a spice similar to how we use like, salt and pepper. They'd have salt and uh... wasabi powder.

FAQ

What is the Cookieverse?

The cookieverse is an alternate universe of Cookie Run. Which includes cookiefied versions of characters from other media. As well as OCs, cookiefied versions of OCs for other media, and things otherwise not present in canon.

So like the crossover events?

Not really. Unlike the crossover events. The characters that are cookiefied have ingredients, rather than just " *character name* Cookie".

For example, instead of a Cookie!Mario being "Mario Cookie", he has marinara sauce as an ingredient. Hence, Cookie!Mario is known as "Marinara Sauce Cookie".

This also means the Hello Kitty, Sonic and Disney crossover events never happened in the Cookieverse.

Can I make fanart for this?

YES! Fanart and fanworks of my AUs is heavily encouraged! Just make sure you credit the AU to me and Cleffa specifically. As long as your fanart isn’t NSFW, problematic, or hurtful.

Can I draw my OC/Non Official Characters in the Cookieverse for this?

Yes! However, just be aware we have no plans on inserting other people's OC's into the Cookieverse unless they are friends of us. Same goes for non-official characters.

Can I suggest ingredients for Cookies that don't have them yet?

Yes! Any little bit helps! The only rule is that it can't be any drugs (alcohol is fine though), so no weed, cocaine, etc.

Can I suggest media for the Cookieverse?

Yes! Just see the below question before suggesting an idea. Please note we have the right to reject suggestions for any reason.

What suggestions can get rejected?

A suggestion will likely be rejected if the media suggested is or contains

A) Mature and/or adult. So things like South Park, Family Guy, and Skullgirls cannot be included. There are exceptions however, as Friday Night Funkin and Persona 3, 4, and 5 are part of the Cookieverse. Just toned down, obviously.

B) Overcomplicated lore. So no Kingdom Hearts or Final Fantasy.

C) Too many characters. Which is why we can't include Fire Emblem. That's also why we only include main characters of a franchise instead of all of them.

We also will reject media that would be difficult to implement into the Cookie Run universe, such as Steven Universe and Splatoon. As well as media we just aren't interested in (for example, most live-action series, we're more into animation here.)

Do note that the three notes above does not mean your suggestion will be automatically be rejected if it contains these things. There are exceptions (Ex: Friday Night Funkin is part of if, despite being mature, though it is toned down here.).

Two Dusks and Blazes?

For context, both Blazes and Dusks are OC's created by me and Cleffa respectively. There is Funkin Blaze and Funkin Dusk for FNF, and Edds Blaze and Edds Dusk for Eddsworld.

However, despite similar appearances, name, and characteristics, they are NOT the same. They are separate individuals. Hence they are separate cookies.
