How do you prepare sushi rice?
Preparing sushi rice requires a specific technique to achieve the right texture and flavor. Here's a basic guide on how to prepare sushi rice:
Ingredients:
- Short-grain sushi rice
- Rice vinegar
- Sugar
- Salt
- Water
Instructions:
1. Rinse the rice: Place the sushi rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse it under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch and ensures the rice cooks evenly.
2. Cook the rice: In a rice cooker or a pot, combine the rinsed rice with water using a 1:1 ratio (one cup of rice to one cup of water). Let the rice soak in the water for about 30 minutes before cooking. Then, cook the rice according to the instructions of your rice cooker or on the stovetop until it's tender and cooked through.
3. Prepare the seasoning: While the rice is cooking, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a small saucepan over low heat until the sugar and salt dissolve completely. You can adjust the ratio of vinegar, sugar, and salt based on your preference.
4. Season the rice: Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large, shallow bowl or a wooden sushi rice tub. While the rice is still hot, gently fold in the prepared seasoning mixture using a wooden spoon or paddle. Be careful not to mash the rice; instead, use a cutting motion to distribute the seasoning evenly without breaking the grains.
5. Cool the rice: Fan the rice while gently mixing it to help cool it down to room temperature. This process helps remove excess moisture and gives the rice a glossy finish.
Your sushi rice is now ready to be used for making various types of sushi rolls, nigiri, or sashimi bowls. Remember to cover the rice with a damp cloth to prevent it from drying out while you prepare the rest of your sushi ingredients.

you're in the habit of denying yourself things.
if someone asked you directly, you would say that you love a little treat. you like iced coffee and getting the cookie. you drink juice out of a fancy cup sometimes, and often do use your candles until they gutter out helplessly.
but you hesitate about buying the 20 dollar hand mixer because, like. you could just use your arms. you weren't raised rich. you don't get to just spend the 20 dollars (remember when that could cover lunch?), at least - you don't spend that without agonizing over it first, trying to figure out the cost-benefits like you are defending yourself in front of a jury. yes, this rice cooker could seriously help you. but you do know how to make stovetop rice and it really isn't that hard. how many pies or brownies would you actually make, in order to make that hand mixer worthwhile?
what's wild is that if the money was for a friend, it would already be spent. you'd fork over 40 without blinking an eye, just to make them happy. the difference is that it's for you, so you need to justify it.
and it sneaks in. you ration yourself without meaning to - you don't finish the pint of ice cream, even though you want to. the next time you go to the store, you say ah, i really shouldn't, and then you walk away. you save little bits of your precious things - just in case. sometimes you even go so far as putting that one thing in your shopping cart. and then just leaving it there, because maybe-one-day, but not right now, there's other stuff going on.
you do self-care, of course. but you don't do it more than like, 3 days in a row. after that it just feels a little bit over-the-edge. like. you can't live in decadence, the economy is so bad right now, kid.
so you don't buy the rice cooker. you can-and-will spend the time over the stove. you can withstand the little sorrows. denial and discipline are practically synonyms. and you're not spoiled.
it's just - it's not always a rice cooker. sometimes it is a person or a job or a hug. sometimes it is asking for help. sometimes it is the summer and your college degree. sometimes it is looking down at scabbed knees and feeling a strange kind of falling, like you can't even recognize the girl you used to be. sometimes it is your handprint looking unsteady.
sometimes it is tuesday, and you didn't get fired, and you want to celebrate. but what is it you like, even? you search around your little heart and come up empty. you're so used to denying that all your desires draw a blank.
oh fuck. see, this is the perfect opportunity. if you had a mixer, you'd make a cake.

why Indrayani rice should be on your grocery list? Patankar farm products
Why indrayani rice should be on your grocery list? Patankar farm products
Indians are known as the largest consumers of rice and it is a staple part of their diet. One of the most popular rice eaten in India is Indrayani rice, a type of rice that is grown in parts of Maharashtra. Compared to other types of rice, it is smaller and has a distinctive taste and aroma.
Origin of Indrayani Rice
The healthiest rice in Maharashtra is named after the Indrayani River. The river starts near Lonavala, a hill station in the Sahyadri mountain range and flows through Pune. This river is considered holy and there are many religious places on its banks.
Indrayani is a medium grain indigenous variety of rice, which originated from an old favourite rice of Maharashtra known as Ambemohar. But Ambemohar was low yielding and prone to diseases. So, it was crossed with a high-yielding variety to get delicious and glutinous rice Indrayani.
Indrayani rice comes from interior Maharashtra and is cultivated by tribals near the Maharashtra-Gujarat border. Indrayani rice is unpolished, aromatic, and stick. It is just right for all your yummy rice dishes.
Can we eat Indrayani rice every day?
Yes. Rice is one of the world’s most popular staples and has a higher nutritional value than wheat. There is a widespread misconception that eating rice every day can lead to belly fat.
Most grains are difficult for the body to digest, but rice is one of the easiest grains to digest. Eating rice triggers the release of serotonin, which improves brain function and elevates your mood.
Indrayani is a relatively new variety of native Indian rice compared to other varieties that have long been a staple. People who know about Indrayani rice benefits are increasingly consuming it. Buy good quality Indrayani rice from Patankar farms.
Is Indrayani Rice good for diabetics?
Yes. Indrayani rice is the best rice option for people suffering from diabetes. It helps in controlling the sugar level. Its glycemic index is very low. Foods with a high glycemic index are responsible for increasing the risk of type 2 diabetes.

i think one of the best moments between kunikida and atsushi happens in the very first episode when atsushi talks absolute gibberish at kunikida with his mouth full and kunikida still understands him completely and all this is after knowing one another like for a whole ten minutes

Rice Cooker Functional for The Sims 2
Tumblr media
@hergoldenlife asked me to improve Simple Life Rice Cooker, because it only has a steam function on it. Now you can also use it to cook some rice recipes like the Toaster I created sometime ago. So food will spawn in front of the cooker after you choose it from the pie menu. You can also choose to start or stop the steam function for decorative purpose. Rice will cost 24 simoleon like the toasts. You will need all the recipes for it to work properly. Some of them are food I made some weeks ago (Kimchi Fried Rice and Rice Curry) so if you already have it you can choose to not put them in the download folder or to replace them without any issues. I added a new fridge recipe that you can cook normally or you can use this rice cooker to make it, the Rice Jjajang. Other 3 recipes (Cauliflower Rice, Rice Peas and Rice Pudding) are food that you can only cook with the Rice Cooker. You can find it in the small appliances in buy mode. Credits to Icemunmun for the food.

Anne's old house...
Illustration on the inside of The Witching Hour, Anne Rice's old house at 1239 First Street, New Orleans, which she used as the setting for the famous Mayfair House in her novels:

And if you're a nerd like me and you always wondered what the inside of Anne's arguably most well-known house looked like, here's a tour via a real estate video from 2009!

I will preface this by saying that I am doing better now and am no longer in any immediate danger, but a few days ago I was in genuinely a sort of dangerous place where I was barely eating any food and what I was eating wasn't always staying down. Nausea meds and cannabis have helped a lot with that, but in the early days, the doc was threatening me with the emergency room if I couldn't keep more fluids in me.
I think I really must have seemed extremely sick because my parents, who love me dearly, were kind of at the point where any time anything sounded remotely good to me, they were like YES, WE HAVE THAT and they would get it for me.
So I would ask for couscous at 3 am (because we all go to bed stupid late here) and be sitting in bed like a tiny imperious princess and my beloved father would be like
Tumblr media
and anyway I might've gone mad with power, a bit.
Like he straight-up made me cornbread earlier. :')
