while yall hyping up this catfight between these 2 mediocre moids I wish you'd take a minute to reflect on why you are suddenly so comfortable to revoke the Black card of a biracial man (calling him a "sheltered jewish man") while every other day of the year yall keep preaching that "Black comes in all shade" and believe in the one drop rule? lol
Yall be acting like Blackness is something that can be caught in the air ("he didn't grow in the hood/doesn't understand the Black experience" #COLONIZER) which not only is nonsensical (what defines Blackness is a phenotype, not an experience), but it also has to be one of the most embarrassing self own if I saw one (Blackness = hood/struggle). But you know what? it wouldn't be that much of a problem if you stayed consistent and didn't lose your shit whenever a non Black person who did grow surrounded by Black people, and therefore naturally behave "like a Black person", calling them a race appropriator 🤔 like- which one is it?
Oh and let's not even start about how Black men are comfortable revoking the blackness of biracials men at convenience while having for preference their female counterparts, which not only is a glaring display of colorism, but also shows their glaring hypocrisy and deep seated resentment & jealousy against biracial men (which is something they act like it only existed among Black women).
Black men are never seen denying biracial women blackness, arguing whether they're Black enough, grew up in a black enough neighborhood and all, etc. Ask you why.
And ask yourself whether the Black community™️ would so strongly collectively support a Black woman dissing a biracial one over the same points Kendrick does against Drake ("not a real Black woman", "socially sheltered", etc.). You can bet the same scrotes hyping up Kendrick would call her "bitter" and "jealous".
Ask you why.

"the preteens are running around sephora because all their third spaces are gone!" i get that but did you know. did you know that there is an age appropriate store for young girls selling (fake) makeup & accessories. are you reasonable enough to understand that 10-12 year old girls do not need to be running around an adult makeup store ruining displays, destroying products, & generally leaving the stores a mess? all while they harass employees & disrespect them. the real solution obviously is to make 3rd spaces accessible again but until then keep your CHILD out of sephora unless you are right there with them & able to fucking parent.

According to the app, I've got fifteen minutes left in The Heir of Redclyffe, but I don't want it to be over.
#the heir of redclyffe#charlotte mary yonge#it's so odd#there's some of the 'swimming through legos' feeling to the prose that reminds me of reading little women and other earlier victorian books#where the prose is wordy in a workmanlike way so you can't really call it beautiful or skillful#but also the characters are worthwhile enough that it's worth the extra work#and when i think back on plot events it's kind of astounding how big a deal they've made over such very small events#but yet#there's a depth to that smallness#gives a sense of the spiritual significance of even the tiny stupid conflicts of daily life#(even when i don't buy into their victorian codes of conduct)#'the greatest drama in life is the battle for a single human soul' and all#which also makes it possible to read *too deeply* into this story so i gotta watch out#but i know i'm going to be thinking about these characters and their journeys for a long time#there's a lot of 'telling' along with the 'showing' of these arcs but they're still good arcs#she's so subtly brutal to these characters#losing all hope for the future can still leave you in joy#getting everything you ever wanted in life can be the worst possible outcome#(and not just because of the depravity of wealth or whatever)#(but because the circumstances of getting it are nothing like how you wanted it )#and the pacing is actually working surprisingly well#a lot of classics have this point where the last third or quarter has radically different circumstances from the rest of the book#and it usually feels weird to me and it's hard to think of it as the same book#but in this book that section might be my favorite in the story#the long denouement really gives you a chance to see how these characters grow#i'm a little worried she won't be able to leave everything in a satisfactory place with the page count we have left#but also if it never ends i never have to find out if she drops the ball or not

Those ultra helpfully fast pased "become a pro at your hobbies! Make millions with this simple trick" advice would be sort of sweet if it was coming from a close freind who wanted you to get better at your hobbies. But it feels like being repeatedly hit over the head with a lead pipe when it comes in the form of tiktok.

"cultural analysis" youtubers read something that isn't a medium/vouge/vox op-ed as research challange
#creating a new aesthetic called echo chamber core#edit. started thinking about it and actually i think my head died during the aesthetics vs subculture vid why did i watch that.#the bizzare way it ostensibly sets out to critique subcultures reduction to “fashion” or whatever while entirely reducing the concept of#subculture to fashion throughout the video. the seemingly willful misunderstanding of subculture studies origins to make a cheap crack#about 1920s cultural studies “not being interested in women” (also: not true).#the fact that its a 40 minute long video on aesthetics that never once mentions nazism but has a shout out to cottagecore being a positive#new subcultural group.#the annoyance at calling light blue nails “blueberry milk nails” as a “trendy signifier” when that type of naming is exactly like whats#on an actual nail polish bottle. just. the level of internet brain that is unble to fathom subcultures still existing outside the internet#or the idea that fashion isn't always the primary expression of subculture.#the circular fashion brained argument that “how you dress can no longer be counter cultural or revolutionary because everyone can buy a#shein dupe miu miu skirt now"#while acknowledging that working class brittish people's participation in subculture (for instance)#did not improve their financial or social situation#but at the same time not mentioning the arguably inherent fashion marketing origins of punk fashion.#the insistence on constantly citing one single person of origin for internet trends.#the reoccurring narrative of claimed “deeper capitalist critiquing“ fashion movements being ”co-opted“ and appropriated as#”less deep“ fashion marketing trends by big fashion inc. as if that kind of#posture of anticapitalist agenda and confusing pseudo intellectualism (health goth manifesto) isn't commonly occuring in fashion marketing.#like people dont walk down fashion week runways wearing tulle maxi dresses spelling “fuck capitalism”.#or žižek didn't write copy for an a&f mag#recuperation 101
