Ben / his tattoo artist

(this was requested by Husband so I took the liberty of making the tattoo artist Evan)

Ben is nervous as hell as he walks in the tattoo parlor. The first time he got a tattoo was a drunken mistake, so he doesn’t much remember it. He never thought he’d ever have tattoos – he’s scared of needles, but he needs to coverup that first one, so here he is.

He walks up to the front desk, nervously looking around. The place is hipstery, but cozy, lots of wood and leather and plants, nothing in common with the dark hole-in-the-wall where he first went.

He rings the bell on the counter, looking at the art on the walls while he waits. You can see a certain cohesion between the pieces – they were all made by the same artist, obviously. They look like watercolor, with a lot of flowers and geometric shapes. Ben is really into it and he makes a mental note to thank his friend Steven who suggested the place.

A red and black plaid curtain behind the counter is pushed aside and out comes the most gorgeous man Ben has ever set his eyes on.

Tall, with broad, drool-worthy shoulders and a tiny waist, with the arms of a guy who obviously goes to the gym a lot. He’s dressed in a tight black button-down that makes his biceps just bulge out and actual suspenders and a bow tie – his arms are covered in tattoos, which make the whole outfit seem cool rather than nerdy.

“What’s up, man, I’m Evan,” the man says and Ben is so busy staring at his tattoos he almost forgets to answer.

“Um – I’m Ben. Hi.”

“Is this your first tattoo?” Evan eyes his bare arms and fidgety demeanor.

“A coverup, actually.” Ben rolls up the sleeve of his t-shirt to reveal, at the very top of his bicep, a small hand giving the middle finger and the words F U REBECCA.

“I was drunk and recently dumped,” he mumbles, steeling himself for the upcoming judgemental look.

Evan scoffs and shakes his head, but not at Ben. “Tattoo artists willing to work on someone drunk disgust me. They’re in it strictly for the money and they don’t care about the craft.”

A warmth spreads through Ben’s chest – Evan looks offended on his behalf, and the feeling of someone caring for him after months alone is making him dizzy.

Evan pulls a pad and a pen, guides him to a corner with a table and chairs. He quickly doodles Ben’s existent tattoo. “Do you have an idea of what you want?”

Ben shrugs. “I guess I don’t really know how tattoo works? Especially coverups? Like what can you do?”

“I can either incorporate these lines into something else so they become invisible, or cover it with a dark patch we’d work into the design. This would likely be more painful because we’d have a lot of filling in to do.”

Ben nods. “I’m a bit… afraid of needles? So the less pain the better.”

Evan nods, already deep in thought. He asks Ben a few questions about what he likes, how his childhood was, and for a while it almost feels like a date – like they’re getting to know each other. Evan listens intently, sometimes doodling an idea – he seems genuinely interested and it makes Ben blush.

After a while, Evan turns away to hide the pad from Ben and keeps drawing, grabbing color pencils from a nearby shelf.

“What do you think?” he asks at last, pushing the pad across the table.

Ben is speechless. Evan has drawn a tall pine tree, half in color and half in black geometric lines. The drawing immediately conjures up memories of Ben’s Gramps.

He’d told Evan how Ben’s grandfather had build their childhood home and planted a pine tree, but it got sick and they had to cut it down around the time of Gramps death.

The idea of having the tree, of having his Gramps live on his arm forever makes Ben’s eyes well up.

“Man…” His throat closes around the word and he can’t say anything else.

Evan smiles, and it’s soft and beautiful and Ben should maybe stop feeling everything so much.

“You like it? This part would be in a watercolor effect, I couldn’t fully convey it in pencil.” He points at the colored part. “And these lines right here, that’s where we hide the former tattoo.”

The previous tattoo completely disappears through the geometric lines. Ben’s impressed and he can’t wait to get Evan’s art etched in his skin forever.

“So listen,” Evan says, and Ben manages to tear his gaze from the pad to listen to him. “The whole afternoon is booked, but I can squeeze you in tomorrow at four. Does that work for you?”

Ben’s mind stumble over the words “squeeze you” and he feels his cheeks and neck heat up. He’s a bit disappointed not to leave the place with a tattoo, but he’s excited to have a reason to see Evan again.

“Tomorrow it is, then!” he says cheerfully.

It feels weird to just leave like that because it seems like they’ve gotten to know each other so much over the past hour, but like, a handshake is too formal, a hug too friendly, a kiss on the cheek – although Ben would absolutely love that – too romantic. So he just stares at Evan a bit too long, pats him on the shoulder and feels the most awkward he’s ever felt in his life.

“See ya,” he says, but he can’t seem to move his feet.

“Can’t wait,” Evan answers and Ben’s brain goes into overdrive.

Does he mean that? Is he just being nice? Is it just a phrase?

Great, now Ben is just standing still in the tattoo parlor and Evan’s smirks, amused.

“Okay, bye,” Ben says, finally managing to move his feet.

“Bye.” Evan seems like he’s trying hard not to laugh and Ben walks out, half cursing himself and half daydreaming about Evan’s smile.

Ben spends the next day in a frantic daze – unable to focus on anything for longer than 3 minutes. He ends up scrubbing his entire kitchen – it was the only task that allowed him to think about Evan as much as he wanted.

He changes his whole outfit three times before being satisfied, muttering “It’s not a date, get a grip” with clenched teeth the whole time.

He gets to the tattoo parlor almost a half hour too early, even though he does a double take in front of a flower shop – “it’s not a date,” he repeats through gritted teeth.

He finally goes to get coffee at the Crimson, the coffee shop across the street, to while away the last half hour and calm down, when an idea strikes him.

“Hey, you wouldn’t know Evan, by any chance?”

“Tattoo guy? Yeah he’s a regular.”

“Do you know his coffee order?”

“Venti soy mocha.”

“I’ll take one of those, too, then.” It’s not a date, his brain pipes up.

Is it Ben’s imagination or does Evan’s face lights up as he walks in?

It’s not a date.

Ben does his best not to pay attention to the nagging voice as he hands the coffee to Evan.

“Hey, uh, this is for you.”

Evan grins. “Thanks man!” He takes a sip. “Soy mocha? How did you know?”

Ben shrugs. “Lucky guess.”

Evan guides to the next room, points at the chair.

“Well, then, let’s see that shoulder, shall we?”

Ben looks down at his clothes and curses himself. He’d been so nervous about what to wear he completely forgot his shoulder needed to be accessible – he’s wearing a dark blue button down with rolled-up sleeves. He’s going to need to take it off completely and Evan will think he planned the whole thing so he’d be shirtless.

“I should have worn short sleeves,” Ben chuckles awkwardly, feeling Evan’s gaze on him as his fingers stutter over the buttons.

“It’s okay, man. I mean I’ve tattooed butts before, it’s nothing I haven’t seen already.”

Of course, his dick of a brain chooses to focus on the idea of Evan tattooing his butt one day.

He timidly shrugs off his shirt, self-consciously shifting his weight from one foot to the other while twisting his shirt in his hands, unsure what to do with it.

“Do you want me to…?” Evan holds out his hand, pointing at his shirt.

“Oh, sure, thanks.”

Their hands meet through the fabric and a chill goes up Ben’s spine – he hopes he doesn’t get goosebumps because there’s no way Evan wouldn’t see it.

Evan sets the shirt on a coat hanger  and gathers up his supplies while Ben takes place on the chair.

The nervousness from being half naked next to Evan quickly gives way to a nervousness about the actual tattooing, now that he sees Evan’s supplies.

After the stencil transfer is done, however, and he can see Gramps’ tree on his arm, he can feel his doubts melt away. Yeah, it might hurt like a bitch, but damn if it won’t be worth it.

At first it really does hurt, but after a while the pain kind of dulls away and he’s left with the very acute awareness off Evan’s hand hovering next to his bicep, of the feel of his fingers when he’s dabbing at the ink, even through the pad and the latex gloves.

Ben starts chatting away, trying to distract his brain from these thoughts, at least until the tattoo is done. “I can’t wait to see it, man, it’s gonna look so good; you know, it doesn’t hurt as much as I thought it would; I like to think if Gramps saw it he’d think you’re doing a pretty good job with his tree…” He goes on and on and doesn’t realize he’s doing it until he sees Evan cracks a smile.

“What?”

“Nothing. It’s just – you talk a lot, don’t you?”

Ben feels his cheeks heating up. “I get that a lot. Sorry – I’ll shut up now.”

“No! I mean – you don’t have to. I kinda like it actually. It’s cute.”

Ben’s cheeks are actual fires by now.

“That’s cute too – you turning red.” Evan has an amused grin on his face and Ben suddenly realizes he’s not tattooing anymore. He looks over at his shoulder.

“Is it done?”

“What? Oh, yeah I finished like ten minutes ago. I just wanted you to keep talking.” It’s Evan’s turn to look flustered.

“How about I keep talking over a beer?”

“I’d like that,” Evan says, his voice all breathy, and suddenly he’s right there in front of Ben.

Ben doesn’t think about it – he just got a tattoo, he can handle anything – and kisses Evan, hard and wet and a little desperate, but Evan’s smiling against his lips and he knows he’s into it.

Behind Evan’s head there’s a mirror and Ben can see the final result.

“Wow,” he says.

“Yeah,” Evan breathes out, resting their foreheads together, chest heaving.

“I meant the tattoo.”

Day 7: The Pet Platypus

Jughead squints as he comes up behind Betty. She’s writing an article, he knows, that’s she’s been obsessing over for a little over a week. “Are you researching wether you can have a pet platypus?” He laughs softly as jumps, startled.

“I am actually.” She nods, glancing at him. “But not because I want to.”

“Is this what your article is about?” He asks.

“No. It’s related. The article is about the Platypus Anonymous.”

“The...Platypus Anonymous?” He raises an eyebrow.

“It’s what we named it.” She shrugs and then pats the chair next to hers. “I’m trying to solve the mystery, Jug. There’s someone in this world obsessed with asking one question and one question only. “What if you had a pet platypus?” And it has been driving everyone crazy. They’ve sent it everywhere. Even my boss is puzzled. And it’s not just the Times. The Post. Everyone. Even freaking Buzzfeed. They’ve emailed everyone but they don’t respond when we reply.”

“So you want to crack the mystery, huh?”

“I’m sending out a national outcry for whoever this genius is.” She grins. “We’re gonna find the Platypus Anonymous.”

“Maybe it’s Doofenshmirtz.”

“Idiot.” She snorts. “The dedication they have is astounding, honestly. I wanna find them and send them a gift basket.”

He laughs softly. “Platypus Anonymous....you’ve got me hooked.”

Top 10 Things You Shouldn’t Do If You Want to Finish Your Thesis On Time

It’s my entry for September! I’ve been busy in consuming new music, films, and kvariety episodes in my effort to catch up on everything. So, I decided to post monthly to fulfill my oversharing Tumblr needs and to exercise my skills in writing in English and putting thoughts into coherent words.

TL;DR of this: things I’ve done instead of doing my thesis for the past year and a half. I’m not romanticizing my not doing thesis self for the past 21 months, but I’m also not dissuading you from doing other stuff besides thesis because god knows, you will need something.

1. Got a part-time job. This was the first new thing I’ve done that really took my time and effectively gave me no time to do thesis. And yet, this was the most rewarding thing as I learned how to get my TIN, accomplish my deliverables, answer to my superiors etc. Looking back, I wasn’t the best employee and I deserved no job offers on the same company after. But still, it was a stepping stone in the right direction. Adulting-wise, anyway.

2.  Discover the art of creating.

Journal spreads. I bought a 2019 planner and I couldn’t fill it up, so I decided to turn it into a journal-planner. The art materials I used for to design pages are from old supplies bought back when I was in high school or stickers from the fandom-related events I attended. I didn’t spend money and I was given a chance to be creative.

Sew doll clothes. In K-pop, dolls that look like your idol exists. It usually comes with one set of clothes to dress it. As a “doll mother”, I wanted to dress them with new clothes but buying clothes was expensive. So, I just sewed clothes for them. I made clothes from scrap fabrics or clothes no one wears in our household. I’ve been barely successful, but it’s one of the things that keep me happy and make me feel like I’ve succeeded in one measly part of my life.

3. Purged my online files.

From my high school files. Nostalgia has been one of my coping mechanisms. I was able to be provided by lots of it when I discovered that I didn’t lose my high school files and it was on my mom’s laptop all along. Being able to relive memories while organizing my files was the best hours of that day.

To my external hard drives. Since 2016, I have been a hoarder of online files for so long that I have two EHDs to prove it. This time though, I was able to delete content that was either repetitive or uninteresting anymore. I was able to shave off some of my data bytes and am now able to save new interesting content available online (if I ever find one).

4. Realigned my priorities and consumption of K-pop as a stan and as a person by:

Selling 3/4 of my merch. Unlearning the pride that comes with owning K-pop merch was difficult, but overtime, I have been proud of myself for not falling to the traps of capitalism—at least in K-pop. Also! I was able to buy my own concert tickets with the stuff I sold so it is a win!

Joining giveaways instead. No matter how I can avoid the urge to buy K-pop merch, I still can’t help but want to own them. This is where I discovered how joining giveaways was my next best option. It takes a lot of effort and screenshots to win these things. However, if and when you win, it really feels like winning against the odds. You get free merch too!

Actually spent hours to vote and stream. In relation to the last point, since the main requirement in giveaways I’ve joined are voting/streaming proofs, I have been one of those people who collects points on voting apps or has a playlist of music videos that should be streamed. After collecting and/or streaming, I take screenshots, put watermarks there, and tags mutuals if needed. It’s relatively hard work but there’s a feeling of pride when your idol wins the poll or an MV reaches a certain amount of views and you know you participated in making that happen.

5. Rediscover Youtube. Channels like the vlogbrothers and their associates (Crash Course, Pemberley Digital among others), Buzzfeed’s shows (The Try Guys, Ladylike, Buzzfeed Unsolved) were a delight to watch after being out of the Youtube loop for so long. The platform also offered new niches of content and I allowed myself to be sucked in it. From Simply Nailogical to Ask A Mortician to amazing pop culture video essays like Lindsay Ellis and Jenny Nicholson, Youtube has all it for you! Learning something new every day is one of my favorite things and I get to do it with this website.

6. Rediscover my love of writing. (As if I’ve written anything for my thesis but here.)

Made drabbles. There is a weekly activity on my fandom where we write < 500 word drabbles on any pairings. I have been joining when I can, and through the support of the (small) community (back then), I gained confidence to write one. I’ve written at least four now and I’ve not done yet because I’ve been on a slump lately. But I’ll get back to it soon!

Short story. The same account that brought the drabble challenge created a festival where we write a pairing and write a short story with it. I decided to join the event! Not going to lie, my entry was shit, It was the first draft, it needed a lot of revisions and more constructive criticism and yet, I am still proud of it. It was the first creative fiction I wrote since 2019 and I did it in a day. And, I believe it has potential, so I’m going to review and revise the hell out of it someday.

7. Reclaim my college days.

Reconnected with orgmates. Visiting Elbi for registration and consultation purposes are brightened up by the fact that I get to do this. My first four years of college were not kind to me. I’ve forgotten a lot of things because of trauma and deep sadness that I still have until this day, and when I remember good things, they’re few and far in between. The numbered days I was in Elbi during 2019 were also few and far in between, but they were infinitely better than my academic years from 2015 to 2017. I was able to do the things I wasn’t able to do before (mostly attending Happy Ts and eating in newly-opened food places there) and I get to do it with people I love.

Made friends. One of the drawbacks of being a slot-driven student with no care of my coursemates’ schedules: I didn’t get to establish a friend group. So I didn’t get to make friends. During this time, I’ve accepted that I didn’t have any friends outside my organizations. But this time, instead of a feeling of dread of being that cliché orgmate, I feel relief and happiness because now, I realize that I do have friends from college, unlike the 2015-2017 who didn’t have anyone in college to rely on her darkest times.

8. Appreciated my friends more. For the past few years, I was the shitty friend. I agreed to go on hangouts only to message them that I’m backing out the last minute—sometimes I even straight up ghosted them. I really took my friends for granted. I have been slowly making it up to them by always attending when there’s an invite! I sometimes initiate the invite and it’s always a fun and healing time for me (it was a literal healing time for me as I was depressed during that time). I love them and I’m always thankful for them—and more so now than before.

 9. Unlearning things like:

Realizing that a priv (a private account meant to be seen by your mutuals you trust; usually contains unpopular opinions and hot takes on stan twitter) only encourages negative emotions and I must not do it again.

No matter how I tried rationalizing my hate for Jennie when the JenKai dating news happened, I was one of those K-pop stans who hated her because she dated my idol. (I have moved on past that and have started liking her and Rose.)

Knowing that attacking people for what they say won’t make them unlearn their wrong opinions. Not talking down at them and educating with patience is the key, always.

There are still so much more I unlearned and learned where those came from. My main takeaway is: it’s complicated.  Sometimes our opinion needs a more nuanced perspective and sometimes it needs to scrapped entirely because it was just wrong. But it is essential so we, as people, won’t be stuck with outdated views of the world.

10.   Learning something new like:

Practicing how to do Tzuyu’s helicopter hands until I realized it wasn’t meant for me.

Utilizing Omegle to look for potential quaranflings.

Installing Telegram and uninstalling to ghost quaranflings.

How to do laundry in compliance with my mother’s preferences.

Doing two things at once.

Enough patience to take time and read the laws our government makes every day to know what I’m fighting against.

Optimizing my Twitter lists and now I can keep up with current affairs (that takes a toll on my mental health) then scroll through a fic fest-centric list the next (that helps me forget the stress from reading news).

Learning something new every day has become one of my life goals. Knowing that the world always has something new to offer to me, a speck in this universe, warms me up and keeps me going. And you’ll never know where the new tidbits will lead you. Maybe it’ll help you reconnect with something you’ve known before, maybe it’ll change how you see things, or maybe it’s something new that once explored, it will contribute something new to the community. It may seem small and unimportant but with a tweak in perspective, it might be something worth doing and pursuing.

Looking back at my list, I can finally see how if I didn’t do all these things, I would have probably finished my thesis by now and probably working a full-time job, able to provide the financial needs for my family. There will always be regret that I am still not done until now. But stressing over my current predicament in this time when the world is in its most stressful state yet won’t help me. So, we soldier on and hopefully, hopefully get back to the thesis I’ve been meaning to do.

I WANT TO BELIEVE, the poster reads in bold letters, underneath a picture of a UFO between two pines—it’s the first thing Shane notices when he steps into the small, cluttered office space, hidden away somewhere in the basement floors of the J Edgar Hoover building.There was no answer to the knock on his door, so Shane entered without waiting much longer, takes in the sights. The whole space looks like someone has been squirrelling away every file, every slide, every newspaper clipping they could get a hand on.“Are you lost?” A head pokes out from behind a row of file cabinets, and Shane pivots on his heel, his coat draped over his arm, then readjusts his gaze to about one head lower than he originally did.Agent Bergara looks younger than he expected, somehow; he’s bright-eyed, even for someone who is currently squinting suspiciously at him, and he raises an eyebrow as he steps out. He doesn’t look at all like the ‘Spooky Bergara’ he pictured, he notes. “Or are they finally sending down human sacrifices? I’ve been putting requests in with HR, but they’ve been ignoring me.”Shane blinks for a second, perplexed, then can’t help but chuckle.“No, I’ve been sent here to commit regular ol’ career suicide, not to off me. I’m pretty sure,” he tells him, drily, and Ryan flashes him an amused grin in return. Spooky Bergara doesn’t have worryingly pronounced canines, so that’s good.“I’m—”“Shane Madej. I’ve read your dissertation.” Agent Bergara grabs a file folder off his desk, holds it up for Shane to see, and sure enough, it seems to be a copy of his dissertation, as if that had just coincidentally been the last thing Bergara had been reading. “They told me you were coming down here, I just didn’t believe it.” He pauses, purses his lips. “That they would tell me when they’re sending down a spy, that is.”There’s a challenge in his tone, as if he’s baiting him, but Shane just shrugs. “I’m here to work on the X-Files. Just like you, Agent Bergara.” He pauses as he thinks it over. “Whatever that will entail.” Bergara looks him over for long, contemplative moments, enough that Shane just about wants to shift awkwardly from foot to foot, but he holds his ground. “Do you believe in the existence of extraterrestrials?” He says finally, lackadaisically, but there’s more to it, Shane can tell.“Generally? Sure. The universe is vast and ever-expanding.” Shane shrugs, acquiescingly, then goes on, “Do I believe they ever have or could have come to earth? No. Science, theoretical physics, is pretty clear about that one.”Ryan wags a finger at him, and just about tuts at him. “There is science we just don’t know about yet,” he states, definitively, and Shane stares at him for a moment.“There is… science we just don’t know about yet,” he echoes, with an amused undertone, until he realizes that Ryan is very much serious, and for a second, he looks like he’s trying to rein himself in, then—he starts laughing, heartfelt.Agent Bergara, gratefully, doesn’t look offended, instead, there’s something like a challenge written all over his face, and somehow, it has broken the rising tension.“Here’s some homework, partner,” he tells him, and presses a manila folder into his chest, until Shane reaches up to grab it. “We leave in the early a.m., so you better get some sleep.”With that, Agent Bergara steps past him out the door. “I’ll be seeing you at the airport, 6:30,” he shouts over his shoulder, and then he’s gone.Shane still stands in the office, by himself, clutching his jacket and now, a file folder—a little bewildered, a lot confused. And somehow… a little endeared.Shane takes a deep breath, then nods to himself and says to no one in particular, “All right, partner.”

Okay, look, I’ve been getting a handful of messages, all on Anon, a couple of them I posted and most of the rest, I’m sorry, but I’m ignoring. They’re not being out-right mean or rude, but that almost makes it worse, because you (the anons) think you’re being helpful and frankly, you really aren’t.

Quick example, the anon who sent me the “Oh do this, challenge yourself and you’ll be a better writer!” I was actually quite offended by that. As an artist, constant improvement is the name of the game, so to be told that is a little insulting. Also, it comes off as unsolicited advice, which is even more insulting coming from someone hiding behind the anonymous tag. I didn’t ask for a challenge, I think trying to keep up with what I currently have on my plate is quite enough, thank you very much.

I really do not want to be a bitch about this and I probably am coming off as such anyway, but I really don’t want to but I cannot keep silent. Please read what you are sending me, remember that I am a human being with a life outside of Tumblr on the other side, and think about your intent. 

This is all the basic tl;dr portion of my post. I have more to say, most of it irrelevant, so I’m putting it behind a cut and will likely delete that portion later.

This is the reason why I resented being told to take on something as a challenge - they told me to pick my personal most hated couple and write a story about them. Why? I write for fandom for fun. Yes I will take some things as a challenge but that it at my discretion. Also, quite frankly, ho do you know I’m not already doing this? Maybe I don’t really like Edgeberry, maybe Slim/Swap makes no sense to me, maybe I really do think fontcest is weird and strange but I’m so intrigued that I do it anyway? (that last bit is a small lie, I love fontcest in all it’s weird taboo-ness).

But also, this is why I find it insulting:

- at the time, I had a 2K word commission, and I was just given another. - I have a 1600 word prize fic to write. - I have 6 drabbles to write for prizes for the Valentine’s Day event. - I have 5 more drabbles I want to write for friends from Atlantale because I want to show them love. - I was talked into writing a fic by my Atlantale housemates based on a Buzzfeed video. - I want to write more HaremTale - I want to write more TwixtTale - I want to write more Gradient - I want to finish Family Dynamic - I want to write more for the Heat Sync Series and maybe, omg, finish that, too - I have a Sans and Papyrus “kidnap” Blue fic I want to write. - Oh right I still have Forgive Me, Father to do. - I’m still working on a master fic list which includes going through my 200+ drabbles and separating them by pairing as well as my 5000 posts on tumblr to ink up the fics I’ve posted here (so the Anon who asked me about going back to put my old posts under cuts... did I answer that? I dunno, but again, they should be anyways, so, back off).

But apparently, I need to add a challenge. Oh, and I need to work faster, update more often, and put all my fics under cuts now that I know how to do it on mobile.

And this is just fandom side. Let’s look at the other half of my life:

- I have a house, a cat, and six chickens to care for and maintain, which not only includes clean-up, but yardwork with leaf pick-up and tree destruction (half a tree fell down during a storm back in October - we still need to figure out how to cut that up and get rid of it). - Dishwasher is one the fritz and a bathroom sink faucet is leaking. Repairing these is left up to me. - My job is getting more complex; this is fine because it beats being bored but I’m a little stressed because we’re all still trying to catch up from a major mistake I made at the worst possible time (of course), I’m being given inventory responsibility but I have no access to said inventory and don’t really know or understand what’s expected of me, plus training girl in a faraway office who doesn’t want the responsibilities I’m training her for. - My truck is at the end of its rope, getting a new(er) vehicle is inevitable and will be needed very soon.

There’s also a lot of other stressors going on as well as my own physical and mental problems, so, if you Anons can back the fuck off and be a little nicer, I would very much appreciate it.

So thank you, now that I’m done being a whiny little do-nothing bitch and feel like a lazy shit, I’m going to do the grocery shopping and try to do something productive with my pathetic little life, a’ight? A’ight.

Drabble Challenge #111: Delete it. Now. With Leah Clearwater

You heard the door slam and didn’t bother to look up from your phone. You spooned another bite of Captain Crunch, deciding on the blue kitchen with the large island on the BuzzFeed quiz you were taking. The sound of large elephant steps came towards you at an alarming rate, but you didn’t feel phased in the slightest.

“Y/N!” Leah shouted at you, but you still didn’t look up from your phone, the blasé look never leaving your face. “Y/N, seriously. You have to get rid of it.”

You took another bite of your cereal, still not paying the young woman in front of you any mind. “What on Earth are you talking about, Leah?”

“Don’t play dumb with me. The video, Y/N. You have to delete it.” She  collapsed onto the stool next to you, trying to grab for your phone, but you somehow moved your arm quick enough to where she couldn’t grab it.

You turned the phone to her, showing her a picture of a dog and she looked at you quizzically. 

“I’m a newfoundland,” you told her proudly before bounding up and rinsing your bowl in the sink. “Now, what video are you talking about?”

Leah stared at you with valor. She stood up and strode across the room until she was standing in front of you. Her arms were crossed over she chest, and her eyes held a fire in them you had never seen before in all your years knowing her. 

“Delete it. Now. Or I’ll break your phone”

You stared at her point blank, wondering if you should test her or not. You decided to take your chances.

“No.”

She plucked the phone easily from your hands and threw it to the ground, smashing it under her boot clad foot. Multiple times. A pile of fritzing electronics sat on your kitchen floor in a puddle of what used to be your phone. You didn’t even flinch. You would just go to the store and get a new one. 

You looked from your now broken phone and into the triumphant eyes of Leah Clearwater, a smirk growing on your face that made her own falter.

“Too bad I backed it up on the iCloud this morning, huh?”
