i feel like modern aus with paldulcie tend to place them as a well adjusted happy couple but ya know what. they are not innocent from the dyke drama. they've got an inappropriate age gap. ten years of long-distance letter writing. an unrequited marriage proposal. where are the aus where they're in a fraught on again off again situationship. they're in love. they're not dating. they're everything to each other. its not a relationship. camilla is also there.

Cytherea-as-Dulcinea sketch! Eventually I want to design a couple looks for everyone from the first book to match the busts I drew, so this is a start.

I headcannon Dulcie as an ambulatory wheelchair user, but sometimes uses a walker— she likes wheels, and after years of similar cancers her home is extremely accessible.

I also HC that the mythraeum isn’t accessible at all (like Canaan house) so Cyth uses forearm crutches, a cane, or bone constructs/beguiling corpses like Pro in trickier areas when she needs to move more quietly.

See the thing is, you read HtN and like yeah, obviously lobotomizing yourself so a dead girl’s soul doesn’t get cannibalized is completely fucking wild and you probably have to love someone at least a little to do that, but Harrow has spent the whole book having tension with Ianthe and fervently claiming to be in love with the Body— and then you get to Act V and Harrow is literally weeping wailing feral about Gideon, constructing Prince!Gideon AUs (which, she doesn’t know about Gideon’s paternity!! She is simply drawing upon a (romantic!!!) genre trope!!!) and role reversal AUs and fucking coffee shop AUs about Gideon, and she’s refusing to go back to her own body, and Abigail and Magnus and Dulcie so obviously and completely believe that Harrow is in love with Gideon because they directly compare them to Abigail and Magnus, and she says she’s saving the last dance. Agh!!! Aggghhhhh!!!!!!
