Izzy & the Crew — Izzy got some of the kids in the divorce

Once the dust settles a bit, Ed is no longer Mr Popular with anyone who isn't named Stede Bonnet.

The Muppets who got stuck on the Revenge have a bone to pick with Stede (Archie doesn't know him from Adam, but takes her cues from Jim).

The Stede half of the Muppets are baffled to find that Jim, Archie, Frenchie and Fang (possibly also Lucius once he's read in) are suddenly closing ranks around Izzy. Wait? We like him now?

I'm just loving the emerging scenario where some of the kids side with the stepparent's ex in the divorce.

Ajax had spent 20 years of his life making room for Archie as he moved around any given room. The past few months had been nothing but empty chairs and holes in conversations. He hadn’t stopped moving like Archie would appear in the room, even if it made him terribly lonely.

When Archie did show up in the house, it honestly took Ajax several minutes to notice the holes he left out of habit had a person in them. He’d gotten all the way through his routine of putting things back after work and letting Koda off her harness before he realized that Koda hadn’t followed him. She was, in fact, losing her mind whimpering and barking in excitement.

Jax backtracked out of his room, concerned, only to see Archie. Archie right there on the couch! “Chi?” He asked in disbelief. “Is that really you?”

Gilderoy liked to frequent several different cafes and coffee shops on his lunch breaks. They gave him the best materials for shows, and since he rarely learned names he didn’t even have to worry about changing them.

He’d been enthralled in one of the nearby table’s conversation, head tilted covertly towards them, when someone caught his eye.

Well, Gil had certainly never seen that man here before. He’d remember someone that cute. Tucking his notebook carefully away Gilderoy strolled over to introduce himself. “Hello there, gorgeous. Have you already ordered, or do I have the pleasure of buying you a drink?”

It started innocently enough, with the four of us going on double dates, me and Archie, Jughead and Veronica. And then it kind of naturally evolved from there. Some nights, Archie would sneak into my bedroom and Veronica would go home with Jughead. Other nights, Archie would spend the night at the Pembrooke and I'd go over to Jughead's. And sometimes, more often than you'd imagine, I would find my way to Veronica's.

Just 'cause this is a comic book about a Super Fighting Robot invading castles and blowing up tougher robots doesn't mean this comic ain't gonna be philosophical. I'm gonna save my praises fpr later but Flynn does a brilliant job complimenting the game's premise while also adding the morality on robotics and the problems it can cause. It doesn't go into detail in it now but this first issue does brush against it.

Also neat, the Robot Masters are positioned like in a Mega Man level select screen. And Dr. Light and Wily had built the Sniper Joe enemies in this continuity!

Some more highlights of the Archie Goodwin/Carmine Infantino STAR WARS comics from the period between the first two movies.

Issue #28. Han can't resist being snotty even to someone who's been actively trying to kill him for days:

Issue #30. Leia on her own, infiltrating an Imperial installation:

Issue #33. Baron Orman Tagge (elder brother of the officer who complains to Vader in the movie about the dangers of the Rebels having the plans to the Death Star) has been practicing for years with the lightsaber in hopes of avenging himself on Vader. Luke demonstrates that it won't be quite so easy:

Issue #34. Even months before THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK, Leia does clearly like scoundrels at least a little:

Issue #35. Dark Horse later dragged out Vader's efforts to discover the identity of the pilot who destroyed the Death Star in a disappointing and mediocre four-issue miniseries (VADER'S QUEST). Goodwin and Infantino handle it in a splash page:

Issue #36. Han Solo offers some important life advice:

Vader corrupts Orman Tagge's sister Domina, whom Orman has unsuccessfully attempted to keep out of the family's political intrigues by making her a priestess of a monastic order. (Domina Tagge has recently reappeared in the DOCTOR APHRA series, where she has the same outfit, but not the same background or motivations — she's now just a SW version of Lena Luthor from SUPERGIRL.)
