He hates you.

He hates the way you wear your emotions on your sleeves. It’s excruciatingly endearing to find your gentleness in a world that does nothing but provide you with worries. He hates how, despite your doubts and trepidations, you still look at it with such wonder one couldn’t even fathom or place.

He'd always wondered how such a pure soul—beaten and calloused—can look at the endless possibilities before them and believe they’re worth it.

He considered he might be a coward then, for don’t we all have fears that stop us from stepping beyond the line that confines our capabilities?

He hates your gentleness. How you look at people like they hold the world in their hands. How you listen intently to everything they have to say. How you would offer a hand even if your arms are already full.

He hates the way you wear kindness. How it’s perfectly knitted to your skin, it’s almost second nature. He hates how you would go out of your way to put others before yourself.

"Selfless", he would call you.

"Pushover", he would label you.

But insults were a mere façade to the raging questions in his head as to how. How do you have so much to give?

But most of all, he hates himself for not hating you. Not even a fraction.

You are like a printed polaroid; he wants to vigorously shake to reveal the entire picture.

A pipe dream, that’s what you are. But that doesn't erase the fact that he once stooped so low to even—in his unabashed desperation—consider asking himself if he is worthy enough to experience what it's like to be cared for by you.

Excerpt:

Maitimo swallowed hard. It was disconcerting to be so near one of the Powers. Though he had been taught that the Valar loved Eru’s Children, he could not help but be aware that such a being could reach out and crush him or one of his family if it so desired.

Oromë’s head turned to Maitimo suddenly, as though he knew his thoughts, but the Vala only blinked his bright yellow eyes, watching Maitimo curiously for a long moment before turning back to Atar and Amil.

Makalaurë had squeezed his hand hard when Oromë glanced over, and Maitimo looked down to see that his little brother’s face was pale with fear. Despite this, Makalaurë moved around so that he was standing in front of Maitimo, as if to shield his older brother with his slender frame. Maitimo wanted to whisper reassurances to him, but he did not want to draw the Vala’s attention again, so he settled for lifting Makalaurë into his arms.

Makalaure’s thin arms wrapped firmly around his neck, nearly choking him, but he could feel the frantic beat of his brother’s heart against his own chest, so he did not try to loosen his hold.

“What is his name?” Oromë asked in a voice that was both as deep as thunder and as soft as a breeze. The air shook with it but quickly settled.

“He will be called Turkafinwë,” Atar said, an arm now around Amil’s shoulders.

Maitimo was amazed when Oromë stooped down and lifted a hand toward Amil’s belly. He glanced between Amil and Atar and asked, “May I?”

Atar gave a curt nod, holding himself proudly, but Amil smiled when she nodded her consent.

Maitimo took a step closer, but he stopped when Makalaure twisted around with a fearful lurch to see what was happening.

The Vala spoke again, his voice quieter this time, so that it seemed as if whisper wound around whisper, only hinting at words beneath the hiss of the sound. Then the Vala smiled wide.

“His spirit is fierce and bright like wildfire,” Oromë said, looking pleased as he stood, towering above them again.

Amil looked like she did not know what to think of this pronouncement, but Atar raised his eyebrows a little, and Maitimo wondered what he would say.

“He is my son. My fire burns in him as it does in my other sons, and as it will in all of my children.”

“Yes,” Oromë said. His smile did not fade, though his eyes changed somehow, as though seeing something not here. Maitimo had seen this look on his mother’s face before, and it always unsettled him when she fell into solemn contemplation afterward.

Love languages (Gepard, Sampo, Jing Yuan, Blade)

After having intended to do this for more than 6 months now, I'm finally getting to love languages for some of our HSR boys.

CW: Sampo slander, general fluff, use of "honey" in Sampo's, references to Blade's issues

Gepard

Earnest, earnest Geppie

I think his primary love language is probably acts of service

His entire life is about doing things and that probably extends to you

He's not a verbally expressive person and unfortunately he doesn't have as much time to spend with you, but he's always doing stuff in the time he does have

helping with dishes, making you breakfast before he leaves

If you have long hair, he braids it before bed

It's subtle, but there's no way to mistake his love for you

Sampo

Bastard (/half affectionate)

As much as I think he'd be a very touchy person, always hanging off your shoulders, playing with your hair, that's not his primary love language

No, the guy is always giving you gift, and usually in the most obnoxious way possible I mean it's Sampo we're talking about

This wouldn't be a issue, but this is Sampo we're talking about. 90% of his gifts (like pretty much anything else in his life) was scammed, conned, or all but stolen from someone else

The conversation goes something like this:

Sampo: Honey, I got you a gift You: And who'd you con if off of? Sampo: You wound me! I'm a legitimate business man. You: give it back, Sampo Sampo: fine

Jing Yuan

Jing Yuan is 100% a physical contact person

Not that he doesn't want to spend time with you or give you things, he just has the vibe who always wants to be touching you

Arms around your waist with his on your shoulder, cuddles on the couch

Totally lets you come over when he's working overtime and lets you lay your head on his lap

And he totally turns into a cat when you run your fingers through his hair. Half lidden eyes, contented smile, you swear if he could purr, he would, so you make a point of doing so, especially after a long day

When he gets home, it's a toss up as to what position you're in, but if you're not in his arms with your head on his chest, then he's in your arms with his head on your lap or chest. Which happens just depends on the day, but as a general rule he's not picky

Blade

Physical contact and maybe acts of service

The guy is not fully sane, so he's not very good at the other love languages

So he tends to be very touchy and a little possessive. If someone is teasing you, expect him to come up behind you, wrap his arms around you and glare at whoever the offender is

He doesn't say as much, but your touch makes him feel a little more human. When you touch him, he doesn't feel the need for Kafka's compulsion power as much--which makes Kafka very happy. She seems to be pretty fond of Blade after all.

What he also doesn't say is that thinking about coming home to your arms and your gentle hands makes him want to survive a little bit more

But as much as he doesn't say it, you can see it in the soft smile when he sees you and the way he leans into your touch

So if every now and then you have to tell him to back off--and he usually does--then it's worth it seeing him improve because of your presence

I headcanon the boys of Our Life would have the following reactions if you told them that you were expecting. Cove: Immediately cries with happiness, but also is nervous about becoming a father. He would hug MC and cry into their shoulder, he hopes that he can be a great dad just like his is. 

Derek: Would scoop you up into his arms and kiss you enthusiastically. He wouldn’t be able to stop grinning, quite literally running a lap around the living room in excitement. 

Baxter: He would freeze, eyes wide. It takes him by surprise (even though it really shouldn’t) and doesn’t know what to do at first. After a moment, he smiles softly and his hand cups your cheek, kissing your lips gently.
