Riven/Eravin + a kiss like they’re trying to convince the other to love them

Riven felt like she was learning a new language. There was a lot to how Eravin kissed, and he was so much faster to express himself in touches like that than he was putting words together. He talked to her now, or they wouldn't be here. He tried. But he communicated more, and more openly, like this, and Riven was figuring out how to read it.

Tonight, she knew by his kiss that he was as warmly satisfied and ready to settle in to sleep together as she was. Eravin lay over her and kissed her lips and then the corner of her jaw softly and without hunger. One hand traced the other side of her face. Her arms were wrapped loosely around his chest, fingers contentedly exploring his back.

"I love you," Eravin whispered into her ear. Riven's heart panged with dueling wonder and guilt, and he drew back enough to look her in the eye. "Don't," he told her, "say anythin'." His thumb brushed over her cheek. His brows were furrowed slightly. "I get ta say it now, is all."

Because he already knew how she felt. Riven loved him as a friend, and she wanted him. But—not yet. Eravin tried in his gruff way not to push her. But when he kissed her now, it was because he didn't want to hear her apologize or explain. It was tender and adoring, but Riven could taste the longing in it.

I love you. I love you. Please—

And Riven kissed him back with her own plea. Wait for me.
