Word Count: 30K

The cigarettes were supposed to be Butcher's final indulgence, but he’ll take Hughie, too.
“Was that it?” Hughie asks, managing to sound mildly annoyed.
But he’s surreptitiously set his laptop aside, one hand drumming fingers on his knee, and he’s eyeing Butcher’s idly burning cigarette like he’s got a vendetta against it.

my opinion on :
Character in general : easily one of the top 5 favorite characters of the show. when he first showed up i thought he was going to be your typical quiet, mysterious black-masked character who is an absolute menace to society once you set him loose, and i can't tell you how glad i am to be wrong. he's so interesting and has so many layers to him that we unfortunately didn't get to see on-screen but by the time the show was done with him i couldn't help but feel like we deserved to see so much more. i would give anything to just pat his shoulder and tell him it's gonna be okay. How they play them : jesus christ c i would sit here for hours talking about how you breathe so much life into this character like it's nobody's business. i will never waste an opportunity to tell you how happy i am that you're the one writing him because you literally took one of the most misunderstood characters of the show to turn into something that not only feels real and human but also goes along with the little pieces we have of him. every reply and every post i see of yours cements the fact that you care about noir so much and it makes me go crazy <3 literally the writers of the show wished they had half of your brain to come up with the amazing headcanons and exquisite writing you bless us with on the dash. magnificent/10 The Mun : please please please you said it yourself we have a binding type of contract and we're now stuck with each other forever. i love chatting with you whether it's about our little meow meows or just completely unrelated things. you're so sweet and kind and soooo fucking passionate about black noir that talking to you feels refreshing and just... so freaking nice. i never feel like i'm bothering you even when i write entire walls of text about hughie or whatever crosses my mind and for that i am banging the table with my tiny fists . ily <3
do i :
RP with them : YES we have a few threads together and another couple of asks waiting to be answered . Want to RP with them :  all day every day <3 if my brain allowed it i'd be all over for you because your notifs could not handle the speed of my replies
what is my :
Overall Opinion : an absolute delight to have on the dash, both muse and mun. from the very second i came here you made me feel extremely welcomed and i'm soo excited to see what the future holds for hughie and noir. just what we have of them so far has me bouncing off the walls ! and i know it's gonna be incredible because just writing and plotting with you is amazing. mwah

Jensen Ackles knew Amazon's “The Boys” was a wild and crazy superhero show before he signed on, and the buff actor’s onscreen entrance – mostly in the buff – threw him in the deep end on his first day.
Ackles’ character, Soldier Boy, emerges from a large metal capsule after several decades in storage and “in true ‘Boys’ fashion, they don't keep their superheroes contained with clothing on. Why would they do that?” Ackles says. “So I stepped out in front of my brand new cast and crew with nothing between me and them but a sock.”
After 15 seasons of “Supernatural,” Ackles goes from battling demons to wielding a star-spangled shield in the third go-round of “The Boys” (first three episodes streaming Friday, then weekly ). His Soldier Boy is a macho 1980s-style superhero in the vein of Captain America – although not nearly as nice a guy – and a hugely popular American celebrity who's long been thought dead. Now he's sought by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) in their efforts to take down psychopathic super man Homelander (Antony Starr).
Question: Your “Boys” introduction was sans clothing, but what was it like filming a superhero orgy scene where you’re in your spiffy suit surrounded by a bunch of naked extras?
Jensen Ackles: I’m not necessarily a modest person, by any means, but I do remember walking onto the set,  and let's just say that I felt the need to stare at the ceiling more than I've ever felt in my life. Avoid eye contact, just don't look down and you might get through this day.
Q: Was that an interesting exercise going from Dean Winchester to Soldier Boy?
Ackles: Dean was the unlikely hero in flannel that you would walk by a million times on the street and never know. He was fighting the good fight in the shadows, whereas Soldier Boy, he pretends to fight the good fight in the spotlight. Much like Homelander, this is a guy who believes his own hype and battles with his insecurities and internal demons, and doesn't do it very well. We're dealing with a lot of toxic masculinity,  and Soldier Boy definitely gets to embody that.
Q: Why is that an important issue to discuss now?
Ackles: We teach girls all the time (that) it's OK to be tough and it's OK to stand up for yourself, and you can do everything a boy can do. But it is not the same on the flip side. Princess dresses are not for boys, painting your nails is not for boys, playing with dolls is not for boys. The discouragement just because of what has been handed down generation after generation is something that we should peel the layers back and understand maybe on a deeper level where's that coming from, and why are we still holding on to that as a society.
Q: You're joining Reba McEntire as new series regulars on "Big Sky." Is there a duet in your future?
Ackles: (Laughs) If Reba McEntire wants to make me sing with her, I'm a big enough country fan to do everything I can to not let her down. She's an icon, she's legendary, she's country music royalty.
Q: What tune would you pick to sing?
Ackles: Oh, man. I would just do anything I could to get her to sing “Fancy.”
Q: What is it about “Supernatural” that keeps you coming back?
Ackles: It's a world that's always interested me. There's obviously been several attempts at a spinoff for the show, because I do think that there is a strong desire to continue to expand this universe. Any time you've got a fan base and even a cast of characters like this that have really put so much time and effort into building this world, you want to see other parts of it – at least I do. Look, I wasn't ready for “Supernatural” to die. I just needed a break. (Laughs) I wasn't ready for it to necessarily be done done. I just needed to go stick my toes in the sand for a minute.
Q: Do you have big Father's Day plans now that you're back home in Austin?
Ackles: No, my Father's Day plans are pretty much whatever (my family is) going to do for me. I'm on board with that. I'm not the planner in my family. My wife is the commander in chief, and she lets us know where this ship goes. I just wait for my marching orders.
Q: So, you’re a Soldier Boy through and through?
Ackles: That's it, my friend.

Hughie’s Sister Chapter 3 (1/3)
I have no idea how long has passed all I know is Butcher and Frenchie came back a while ago, Butcher gave me an almost concerned look as he passed me and I feel so much worse.
I've been sitting on the counter for a very long time and my butt is numb...I hop off the counter just as Hughie and Frenchie walk out of the kitchen, I put on a brave face and smile at them.
"Hey Hughie, Where ya going?" I'm acting a lot tougher than I feel "I uh I'm going h-home to get clean c-clothes...Want a-anything?" He asks visibly shaking a lot, I wrap my arms around him and pull him into a tight comforting hug. It doesn't take too long for his shaking to stop, I gently let him go and look up at him "Can you pick up some comfy clothes and a phone charger?" I smile and ruffle his hair playfully "S-Sure" He lightly chuckles and leaves with Frenchie.
My body still feels stiff and sore from sitting so long so I decide to stretch and do some yoga for a bit.
XX
"Well ain't that a fucking view"
"AH!" I scream and crumble to the floor! I was in...Downward facing dog...SHIT!
I take a breath, groan and stand up "H-Hey Butcher" My face is very hot right now "Aw look at you all hot and bothered, Did I embarrass you Love?" He smirks and I want to punch him "No shi-I didn't h-hear you come u-upstairs...Can I ask you something?" I involuntarily take a step back "Ask away Love" He smirks hopping up on the counter.
I am so scared to ask this..."W-What happened with Translucent? I-Is that how y-you treat all s-supes? E-Even the n-non I'm a g-god bow to me kind?" I ask taking another small step back, He tilts his head and hops back off the counter "What made you ask that?" His eyes darken slightly as he backs me into a table "J-Just curious...Would you kill a supe who kept to themselves and didn't want anything to do with the seven? T-They just wanted to be normal?" My heart is racing as he is very close to me and he towers over me a lot.
"It would depend on the supe...But I've never met a supe I didn't want to kill" He cages me between the table and his body "B-Butcher?" I practically whine as he leans in closer to me "Hm..." He just...Growled "W-What are you d-doing?" I blush heavily as we lock eyes "So fuckin adorable" He smirks backing away from me "I-Wha-You-What?" I stutter very confused and I think...Aroused?
"Go wait in the car, You don't wanna be in here for this" He takes 2 grenades out of a case and walks back downstairs.
I take a breath and go wait in the car.
XX
Butcher blew up the restaurant, He dumped Translucent's body, And now we are sitting in the car outside a juvenile detention center.
"Why are we here?" I ask looking out of the window "I'm gonna have a chat with an old mate, You're staying here Love" Butcher smirks getting out of the car "No! Not this time!" I yell getting out of the car and running to catch up with him.
"Get back in the car" Butcher growls grabbing my arm firmly but not painfully "No" I smirk looking into his eyes, He looks me over like he's trying to figure me out and I see his eyes flick to my lips "Fuckin hell...fine" He growls still holding my arm, He hasn't moved and he's been staring at me for the past 10 seconds. "B-Butcher?" I ask breaking the silence, my face feels very hot "Hm?" He just growled again and he's leaning closer to me! "Y-You're being w-weird" I stutter making him laugh "Oh! Am I?!" He yells making me jump "Y-You've been a-acting weird s-since Hughie a-and Frenchie left today, What's g-going on? You can t-talk to me" I smile putting my hand on top of his, He suddenly scoffs making me furrow my brows "Look at you getting all brave...Lets go inside" He lets go of my arm and I follow him inside.
XX
Butcher and I snuck into an office and are now waiting on a man coming back into the room.
"Oh hell na, What the fuck do you want? And who the fuck is she?" A dark-skinned man walks into the room and Butcher gives him the cutest smile I've ever seen!
"What? I can't visit me old mate? Rekindle the unbreakable bonds of brothers in arms?" Butcher smirks leaning against the wall "Nope" The other man says sarcastically sitting at his desk. "Come on M.M...Bring it in" Butcher walks toward the desk with his arms open for a hug, M.M is not impressed.
I stand behind Butcher's chair as he sits down and explains the whole Translucent thing to M.M.
XX
"Now who is she?" M.M asks looking at me, Butcher grabs my arm and pulls me around to the desk "Well say hi Love" He smirks and my face gets hot again "H-Hey I'm Raven Campbell" I smile putting my hand out "Nice to meet you, How did Butcher drag you into this?" He smiles shaking my hand "Translucent attacked my brother, Butcher saved us..." I blush more as I look at Butcher and he smirks at me "Well all caught up! Let's get to work" Butcher continues smirking as M.M picks up his things and we get ready to leave.
We get outside and M.M pulls me to the side as Butcher gets in the van "Look you seem like a sweet girl so I wanna give you a heads up, Do not try and get into anything with Butcher...He's a cold son of a bitch and he will break your heart" He says softly making me tilt my head "I can make my own decisions and take care of myself but thank you for the concern M.M" I smile and go to the van getting in one of the front seats.
"Everything ok Love?" Butcher smiles looking over at me "You give me whiplash Butcher" I groan and put my earphones in.
End Of Chapter! This one will be 3 parts instead of 2,
-Ray

The Boys AU- Main Characters
Tumblr media
Ever since an anon asked me about The Boys AU I’ve been wanting to sit down and wrote this whole thing out.
And now I will!
This AU features the Umbrella Academy characters taking the place of characters inside the plot of the show known as the Boys and I wanted to explain why I chose each character and stuff.
Read the fic here! Everything else under the cut!
Tumblr media
Luther Hargreeves and Homelander
Number One and the top Hero at Vought have a lot in common. From being perceived as the leader of a group of seven, right down to the downright abusive behavior a parental figure inflicts on them.
But there’s a difference between the two that I think keeps Homelander as a villain and Luther as still a more heroic figure and that’s the fact that Luther has siblings. He knows how to care for people, in his own way while all Homelander knows is that he’s the strongest person on the planet and no one tells him no.
It’s the key difference between them, and although in the actual AU Luther is more similar to himself than to Homelander, I thought it would be interesting to put him in the same position as Homelander and see how he’d do.
Tumblr media
Diego Hargreeves and Billy Butcher
Simple. A vigilante who wear black and has a grudge against the Boy Scout (Luther/Homelander). Although Diego doesn’t have an accent (or constantly call people ‘c**nts’), he’s still very similar to Butcher in many ways.
Both have a strong connection to a person who is hurt because of their choices (Eudora/Becca) and dedicate a greater part of the seasons trying to make sure that they san avenge that person in some way. They also both have a bond with a goofball (Klaus/Hughie) which lead to funny interactions between the two.
Although Diego is no where near as jaded and brutal as Butcher can be (as the name suggests), there’s still similar characters and I thought it was a good match.
Tumblr media
Allison Hargreeves and Queen Maeve
Queen Maeve was easily my top choice for Allison. She’s a hero who’s lost her luster, she simply doesn’t see any good left in being in the line of work that she is in, similar to Allison not using her rumors anymore.
Other than that, they both serve to be a sisterly figure to the another lead female (Vanya/Annie) and have a tense relationship with (Luther/Homelander).
Only difference I can see between the two is Maeve’s romantic subplot with her girlfriend Elena and Allison’s more sisterly plot with Vanya. Which is why I decided they were perfect.
Tumblr media
Klaus Hargreeves and Hughie Campbell
DORKS!! They’re dorks.
Klaus was by far the hardest one to place, since there’s really no characters with a similar plot to his in the Boys.
But then I remembered that the entire plot of w story is to help Hughie mourn and cope with the death of his lover and it all fell into place.
Still, Klaus remains the most similar to canon in the AU because I love him.
Tumblr media
Number Five/The Boy and Kimiko/The Female
Other than the fact that they share a similar naming style, these two were by far the easiest to put together.
Both are hunted by an organization that wants them dead. Both are the main characters that move the plot into its second half (For TUA, the apocalypse and for The Boys, Chemical V). Both are the powerhouses of their teams, having multiple fighting scenes and are often separated from their group as a result.
Kimiko is a lot less guarded and more child-like than Five is though, so I ended up changing Five’s age in the au to reflect that, to keep his general Five-ness while also making sure to keep Kimiko’s character . The result is a baby assassin Five, who I love with my whole heart.
Tumblr media
Ben Hargreeves and Frenchie
I just didn’t want Ben to be dead.
And to have a french accent.
And to be a badass.
And to be the comedic relief during Diego and Klaus’s interactions.
Really I just wanted him not to be dead.
Tumblr media
Vanya Hargreeves and Annie January
Two women who can kick my ass. Seriously. Both have some of the strongest powers in their respective canons and it shows. Both are also victims of some sort of manipulation by a character in canon (Leonard/Kevin). But that’s really it for similarities.
While Annie is dealing with the crushing defeat of fame and trying to figure out who she is as a hero, Vanya’s arc is mostly about her inner turmoil and fall from grace. While at the end of the Boys, Annie is on top, Vanya had fallen all the way down.
I wanted to give Vanya that hope that Annie has, the cheerful optimism that I think she would’ve had as a kid and probably as part of the Umbrella Academy.

Tumblr media
Hard to deny that we live in an age dominated by the superhero. That classic Superman chestnut, “Look up in the sky!“, feels as apropos as ever when you can’t drive down a major road without Tony Stark’s mustachioed mug or Clark Kent’s Kryptonian biceps flexing down at you like judgemental gods. They rule the box office, they rule the pop culture conversation, they rule the graphic t-shirt real estate at every coffee shop. We’re about one particularly effective after-credits scene away from fandom spilling over into actual worship—pull up any video from inside Hall H if you don’t believe me—which means there’s no better time to ring up The Boys.
Adapted by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and Eric Kripke from the Dynamite comic series by writer Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the eight-episode Amazon series has a wickedly sharp eye for what an actual modern age of superheroes would look like. Costumed vigilantes come with an army of publicists to craft public apologies. Major media corporations schedule the crime-stopping “team-ups” that would drive the optimal amount of social media engagement. And there’s the possibility that the superheroes themselves, so shiny and glossed in front of a camera, are the type of A-list TMZ trash-monsters in their private lives who might smash a man’s skull during a particularly aggressive round of analingus. This is an actual thing that happens in The Boys. A lot of wild things happen in The Boys. But underneath all that superpowered ass-murder is genuinely one of the most timely TV series I’ve seen in a long time.
Our way into the mayhem is “Wee” Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid), a completely normal A/V salesman living a completely ordinary life until a super-fast superhero named A-Train (Jessie Usher) literally runs through his girlfriend Robin (Jess Salgueiro), turning her into a cloud of blood and guts. A-Train is essentially untouchable as a member of The Seven, the world’s premiere superhero team, along with aquatic fish-talker The Deep (Chace Crawford), silent ninja Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell), the invisible Translucent (Alex Hassell), superstrong ass-kicker Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), and the squad’s Superman-esque leader, Homelander (Antony Starr). Quieted with a half-assed apology and ironclad Non-disclosure Agreement, Hughie’s thirst for revenge leads him straight to Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), former leader of an under-the-radar squad that worked to keep the “supes” in check: The Boys.
Running parallel to Hughie and Butcher is the story of Starlight (Erin Moriarty), The Seven’s bright-eyed and optimistic new recruit who quickly learns she’s joined a team of corrupt corporate suits, perverts, and murderers. The two plots intertwine, and soon a grand conspiracy emerges surrounding the mysterious super-steroid “Compound V” that could completely destroy the superhero game and the mega-corporation that funds it, Vought.
The Boys operates on a few different levels, all of which the creative team nails on one level or another. It’s your classic gettin’-the-band-back-together story, as the Compound V conspiracy convinces Butcher to track down the rest of the retired Boys, Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) and Frenchie (Tomer Capon), who are eventually joined by the hyper-violent killing machine known only as The Female (Karen Fukuhara). It’s also a pretty dang intriguing mystery tale dressed up in tights and capes, as well as a pitch-black comedy filled with enough flying guts, exploding dolphins, and C-4 shoved into a person’s unholy crevices to keep even the sickest of you puppies squirming.
But where the writing staff really excels is in the world-building. They’ve kept large chunks of the comic book story intact while also stripping away a bit of the X-Treme Edginess—I like Garth Ennis a lot, but Garth Ennis is occasionally too Garth Ennis for his own good—and setting it firmly in a setting that’s both comic-book elevated and so perfectly 2019. Superheroes argue not about the number of lives saved, but their cut of the merch and box office sales raked in from the Vought Cinematic Universe. ESPN runs 24/7 coverage of a race between speedsters. SEO experts and video editors cut together image-boosting clip shows of The Seven interacting with the common folk. (Possibly my favorite joke in the entire show is the fact newcomer Starlight’s segment is placeholder text that just says “Starlight relating to people.”)
And with that comes a really dark, unique relatability to the material that’s completely different than any on-screen comic book series out there. Though we don’t live in a world of actual superpowers, we do live in one filled with supremely shitty people in extraordinary positions of power and wealth. Tune into literally any news outlet of your choice—or just log on to Twitter dot com—and you’re bombarded with the latest government figure or Hollywood elite who was caught and/or just outright said the depths of their sheer shittiness. It makes you long for the days when a celebrity’s name trending meant they were just dead, not a sexual deviant. The Boys, similar to the comic series, leans hard into this idea: What if the rich, powerful fraudsters and public masturbators of the world were actually sitting in the position of the gods? It’s the darkest material on the show, but the story approaches it unflinchingly. There’s a real stomach-churning familiarity to a high-ranking member of The Seven dropping his pants in front of Starlight and asking how badly she wants to be a part of a superhero team. But even the worst parts come with a sense of wish fulfillment; as awful as it is to see and recognize a world run by all-powerful assholes, it’s thrilling when you realize The Boys is really about how ordinary people can fight back.
As Starlight, Moriarty shines brighter and brighter with each episode, a fantastic foil to Quaid’s increasingly twitchy Hughie. The cast is pretty electric across the board—especially Karl Urban out there throwing around c-words like his name is Cookie Monster—but there are two performances in particular that really make the story tick. Antony Starr is terrifying as Homelander; he plays the main supe like a petulant child given the strength of a nuclear bomb—a Shazam who also burns people’s faces off—and it’s chilling how quickly the actor switches between Homelander’s toothy-smiled choir boy image and the stone-cold persona below. Standing behind him is Elisabeth Shue as Madelyn Stillwell, Senior Vice President of Superhero Management at Vought. The Oscar-nominee is perfectly icy in the role, and low-key the most terrifying character on the show. As the mass murders and war crimes pile up around her, Madelyn is just booking the dates and scheduling the meetings, proving there’s nothing more horrific than a suit who signs lives away with a smile.
If there’s a complaint to be had about The Boys, it’s that its first eight-episode run ends awkwardly, right in the middle of the narrative with several loose threads dangling and a few key characters left forgotten in the home stretch. You have the sense the creators were pretty confident given the fact casting announcements started to pop up before a season 2 was confirmed. [UPDATE: Which it was, just now, at Comic-Con.] But the roller-coaster ride to that abrupt end is something you must experience. Like Alan Moore‘s Watchmen in the late-80s, TV series has the chance to be the superhero deconstruction of our time. Less a peek behind the curtain, and more a seedy glimpse behind the social media likes and box office numbers, a story that manages to be heartbreakingly relevant while still finding time to have Karl Urban kill a room full of goons with a super-powered baby.
Oh shit, did I not mention Karl Urban kills a room full of goons with a superpowered baby earlier? Yeah, man. Watch The Boys. A lot going on there.
