When a plague ran through the Lower Town of Baldurs Gate those most at risk where the poorest members of society. Belladonna and Rosaria's parents were not poor but not wealthy either. An alchemist and herbalist respectively they did what they could to help the residents of the town that the noble classes would rather leave for dead

tragically this lead to the both of them contracting the illness and eventually passing. Belladonna, at nine years old was left to parent his three year old sister alone. The city repossessed their family's shop and home, no orphanage was willing to take in such a strange looking tiefling child and Belladonna refused to let his sister be taken away, leaving them with no choice but to seek shelter with The Guild.

She couldn’t remember the last time she was sick — maybe back in high school when there was a mean cold going around, or when she had gotten mono from one of the guys at her university. Getting sick now made it so she couldn’t do the things she had wanted to do. It didn’t allow her to go to work and she couldn’t see her friends. She couldn’t see him. So she was surprised when he had stopped by and helped her out. Rosie had tried, and she had tried hard to get him to leave. She didn’t want him to get sick, and she certainly didn’t want it to be her fault. A sigh fell past her lips as he told her he wasn’t leaving. She found herself moving to curl up against his side, resting her head on his shoulder and letting her eyes flutter closed.

“If you get sick, you don’t blame me,” she mumbled, for once not feeling the normal shyness she felt whenever any kind of physical contact was initiated. This felt nice. She practically melted into his side. “You’re comfy.”

I think my spiciest MLC opinion is that nothing in it qualifies as old man yaoi unless you're actually rarepairing the visibly middle-aged side characters

because I'm so sorry but Li Lianhua is barely 30 and afaik Di Feisheng has no canon age but that man is not a day over 35

part of my love for this show stems from the fact that many of the characters are actual adults and Fang Duobing's youth is a delightful contrast and a part of his character arc

but these men do not qualify as old, put them back in the oven, they're not baked yet, no matter how much Li Lianhua saltily recalls his lost days of fuckboy glory
