Hi! Thank you for proposing a matchup exchange, this was heaps of fun! I am currently up to episode 475 (Marineford Arc) of One Piece (but am aware of certain things that happen later) so please keep that in mind while reading.

I had so many ideas for this so it was a challenge to condense them all into just a few points. If you'd like more headcanons, let me know! I've got lots of thoughts about this one...

Oh my goodness, you and Ace are such a good pairing! You’re actually very similar in both your personalities and mentalities. And yes, that’s both your positive and negative tendencies.

Ace loves your humour! I see him as someone who’s got a pretty childish sense of humour by most people’s standards so he definitely appreciates your jokes.

You’re both going to need to support each other during periods where you’re hyper aware of the opinions of others. But since you each care about the other regardless, you’re good support.

If he ever hears someone ignoring or talking badly about you, he’s going to jump to your defence. And if you do the same for him? You’ll have a highly emotional boyfriend on your hands. He’s not used to people caring about him so much.

it would take some time for xiao to warm up to you though, you both have a lot in common personality wise and you might be in a slight stalemate until one or the other makes the interction start but once it does he'd be there whenever you need and making sure youre alright. the two of you both have a protective nature and while he doesnt understand why you like him nor thinks he deserves it he definetly appreciates it.

dan heng would be a bit distand and quiet at first, noticing your shyness and giving you space, but would still be the one to start interaction, he'll still make conversation and that will lead to you two getting closer. he might take your anxiousness to mean he's being overbearing and grow a little more distant to give you space but will also be there to help you through your anxiety if you need to. when you fnd out about his past and the dragon thing hes worried at first but when you show youre into it hes more confident about it. youre probably the only person he'd let touch his horns (or tail) and march thinks its unfair.

MODERN AU: 

Obanai had been dragged out to a late night ramen party with his co-workers (friends). as he was vibing with some of our favorite drunk idiots (Rengoku, Sanemi, Uzui, Shinobu, Mitsuri) he noticed you in the corner struggling to enjoy your meal. He didn’t know why but he suddenly felt embarrassed, ushering the group to quiet down. Rengoku and Uzui caught on pretty fast to what was going on considering.. you were the only other person there. And INSTANTLY started teasing him, claiming he was attracted to some random girl in a ramen shop (you). You overheard this and rushed to pay your tab so you could leave before any confrontation happened with the odd group. Sadly though, you didn’t quite make it in time. Painstakingly watching as Rengoku and Uzui manhandled the poor guy over to you. He instantly apologized claiming he was not attracted to you and you awkwardly laughed it off. You did happen to notice his tattoo of a snake wrapped around his forearm though which caught your attention. Eventually you two took the conversation outside and by the end of the night, exchanged numbers.

I’m very shy, distant, quiet, and a little awkward. Basically a huge introvert at first. However, once I get to know you better or I at least see that you’re comfortable around me, I’ll get comfortable as well :) And once that happens, you could say I become slightly more extroverted. I get louder, laugh more, and am overall less shy, distant, quiet, and awkward. I’m also very sensitive and have tons of trouble speaking up for myself. When getting yelled at or just insulted, I try and act unbothered but I think everyone knows that I’m holding in my tears at that point… (it’s really embarrassing ok don’t judge 🫠) But one thing I can say is that I’m somewhat funny. When I feel comfortable around people or just someone, I usually let more witty and funny comments out. Hobbies I have are photography, gaming, golfing, bowling, board games, jigsaw puzzles, and listening to music! I mostly do these hobbies solo though since I’m either too scared or nervous to ask someone or even a friend to participate with me. My appearance usually consists of grey sweatpants, grey sweatshirt, and black boots— it’s usually my go to outfit since it’s pretty comfortable. At home, my hair is tied in a low ponytail. Outside however, my hair is let down. I let my hair down outside because I’m hella insecure about my side profile. I have a round face, curtain bangs, eye-bags, black hair, and really dark brown eyes :) some people say they look soulless but idk 🤷‍♀️ I think the only thing that’s preventing my eyes look completely soulless is the fact that I commonly express myself through reactions. I also tend to speak using a lot of “uh” or “um” because if usually when I don’t say those two words, I end up mixing up my words and my whole sentence just ends up sounding confusing 😬 Also, I smile at almost everything and anything. I’m one of those people where even in awkward, inappropriate, or tense situations— I’ll smile. It’s especially always common for me to smile when I’m nervous. Most people find this trait comical lol. But in situations where I shouldn’t be smiling but do, I never smile to upset people, I smile because I’m either extremely nervous or I just thought of something funny. Another trait I have that I’ve gotten called weird for is how often I laugh during the night rather than the day. I just feel like during the nights I remember more hilarious things than I usually do during the day. I also laugh really loud when I’m alone so I guess hearing loud laughter in the nighttime is in fact weird 🤥

The both of you would likely meet after you got yourself into some trouble in the Avidya Forest. Maybe you climbed and fell from a tree or was dared to bite into some edible-looking plant you really shouldn't eat. Whatever the case, Tighnari would scold you, but still help you out. And that would become a bit of a pattern. You get yourself into some kind of situation, and he makes sure you don't get yourself hurt, or if you do he chides you before fixing you up.

Likes seeing you chase and achieve your goals — it inspires him to set and work toward his own. He is also intrigued by your spontaneity and how fun-loving you are, as that deviates heavily from his own way of life. Despite sometimes nagging you a little, he holds a deep respect for you.

He's known for being sassy, and that adjective would still accurately describe him when he's around you. Though with you his sarcastic little quips seem to be delivered with a small quirk of the lip far more often. He can't stop it from forming. You're amusing to him, despite giving him headaches, and he's grown extremely fond of you.

Tighnari is more of an ambivert, but despite also having an introverted side, he's almost constantly engaging with the Forest Rangers or idiotic people who've found themselves stumbling into the Avidya Forest without a clue of the dangers. but that all changes on one day when it’s bitterly cold and you see him outside shivering, his pretty cheeks flushed from the cold and even his voice as he hollers out lacks it’s normal confident charamisa. because of the weather your business is slow too so you are sure your mother won’t mind if you hand out one simple steaming hot bagel fresh from the oven just to warm him up. and when he sees you he’s drawling out in that thick manhattan accent of his “you’re real sweet miss but i couldn’t take that from you” though he’s eyeing the bagel hungrily and you know full well he survives on a diet of very little so you shake your head and gently force it into his hand. your fingers brushing as you do, making your face smile shyly at him your cheeks turning pink and are you imaging it or his cold cheeks suddenly more red then they were a minute ago? but then your disappointment your mother calls you in before you can say anything else and the moment’s over. :(

the next time you see him out there you’re a bit more confident. the sun’s shining and though your palms are sweating from nerves you smile brightly at him and pass him another bagel this time filled with cream cheese and wrapped in brown parchment as maybe you prepared it with the hope that he’d come back not that you’d ever admit that. either way it’s worth it because his whole face lights up as he takes it and he calls you “his angel”. not just “an” angel but “his” which sends an immediate excited stream of butterflies in your tummy that you do your best to repress.

and after he’s long left and you’re packing up shop he returns with a beautiful posy of little flowers as a gift for you. he tells you that he can’t afford to pay you for the food but he hopes to repay you in pretty trinkets and items that he finds on his walks. you of course insist that he doesn’t have to but he tells you that it’s the least he can do - that he only wishes he could bring you more expensive things. this quickly becomes your pattern - you bring him treats, strawberry tarts, lavender cream puffs and lemon meringues, various sweet experiments that you’ve tested and he in turn gifts posies of flowers, pretty ribbons and shiny pebbles. you teasingly call him a magpie and he just retorts with calling you his angel again.

albert is easy to love - he’s kind and charming and funny and a bit of troublmaker so it doesn’t surprise you when you realise that silly little crush has blossomed into a deep rooted affection for him. it hurts though, feeling so deeply for him and convinced he doesn’t feel the same, hurts so much that sometimes you think it would be better to push him away but you know you couldn’t one glance at that lopsided grin and you’re stuck like glue. so you suppose it’ll be this way forever, this endless dance of hopeless adoration - you can live with that you tell yourself. it pains you but you can live with that. if only you knew it hurts him even more.

he tells you when the two of you are out at coney island, the two of you had saved up your wages, you had packed lunches, he had paid for the train tickets - just like a real couple would of done. and you spend the day eating so much candy floss that you feel queasy, childish laughter spilling from your lips on daring rides and eagerly trying to beat each other in western themed shooting games. it’s so close to be a perfect day and honestly you feel horribly selfish for wanting more. you ought to be satisfied but oh god you’re not.

it’s dark when he tells you, the two of you sat in the compact third class carriage of the train, not the most romantic setting but you hardly mind. nor particularly do you mind the undignified way that he tells you, there’s no fancy words or flowery gestures, just good honest affection when he turns to you and quietly asks “you don’t know i love you do you neige?” tearfully you shake your head. you can’t manage anything more and matter of factly he says “well i do. i ain’t never loved anybody in my whole life the way i love you. won’t you be my girl, angel?” and god you’re a mess after that. sobbing as you feverishly nod and he’s gently kissing your tears away before kissing you softly on the lips. and the rest as they say is history.

ok i actually think it’s not that different from when your friends because both of you were just friends with repressed feelings anyways so like it’s a very similar vibe as how you two got together just now you have the added bonus of being able to kiss or hug each other whenever you want.

he loves watching you bake, not in a creepy way he just thinks you look so cute when your eyebrows furrow and your lips part in concentration - god how he loves you. tried to do it with you once but the pair of you just ended up covered in flour and the cookies got burn so it’s better for you to bake and him to watch. sometimes as you wait for the desserts to cool, he’ll slow dance with you to sweet love songs on the gramophone.

he also knows how to braid your hair. this is because i feel that he taught himself how so that originally he could look after the little girl newsies but now he has you he uses them to learn complex braids and then does them on you which of course you adore.

i feel like albert, because he grew up with only brothers and his father, he’s incredibly touchstarved so he’s constantly lavishing you with physical affection but the minute you give him any he’s absolutely melting at your touch it’s so sweet.:( the first time you kiss him i bet he literally tears up a little bit.

he’s soo nervous for you to meet the other newsies at first as he’s convinced when you do they’ll tell you all the stupid things he’s done in the past and you won’t wanna be with him anymore but actually it’s the opposite. of course racetrack regales you with a few embarrassing stories but mainly they just tell you how happy they are that you walked into albert’s life they also want to know if you’ll bake them anything as they’ve heard a lot about your baking.

also don’t worry the little gifts that he used to bring you don’t stop it’s just that now their more clearly romantic like oh it’s not just a pretty stone- it’s now a pretty stone thats heart shaped because you’re his heart or something sweet like that.

and now his wages are going towards saving up to buy an apartment for the two of you. he hopes that one day the pair of you can live together with the laughter of children, smells of sweet treats and filled to the very brim with love. whenever he’s feeling down working on his feet all day he just has to remind himself of this and then he’s fine. all he has to find now is a ring!

Azula is not ticklish in the slightest. More importantly, her s/o’s very brave for even trying to tickle her.

Definitely doesn’t appreciate being “tickled” in public or when there are people around. She’s got a reputation to uphold.

Might tickle her s/o back. If her s/o’s particularly ticklish, she’ll use it as a form of light punishment.

All in all though, I don't see Azula as someone who's really into those forms of affection, either giving or receiving.

Ty Lee is ticklish and loves being tickled!

Light teasing is one of her favourite methods of displaying affection; both giving and receiving.

Her s/o had better be ready to be tickled in return. As soon as one of them so much as pokes the other one in a ticklish spot, it's an all out tickle war.

Some of Ty Lee's ticklish spots are her underarms, the palms of her hands, and her neck.

Mai's not super ticklish but she has her weak spots. She's just really good at hiding them. She does have a reputation to maintain after all…

When she does let her guard down, she has the most explosive laughter. She finds it a bit embarrassing so she does her best to hide it.

Mai's ticklish spots include a spot just behind her ears and the backs of her knees.

She likely won't tickle her s/o back but as long as they're in private, she won't mind if her s/o tickles her.

Kuvira's another one who's not super ticklish. It's not that she tries to hide it, she just doesn't have any spots that bring her undone.

Much like Azula and Mai, she's got a reputation to uphold and would appreciate it if her s/o kept their tickling attemps to private situations.

I think pre-season 4 Kuvira would tickle her s/o back. She thinks it's fun, especially if her s/o is particularly ticklish.

When she's trying to build the Earth Empire though, she becomes more serious.

Eska is ticklish but in weird places.

If her s/o tries to tickle the usual spots, like her underarms or sides, they will get no reaction.

But as soon as they even reach for Eska's shoulder blades or the crown of her head, she's flinching away and holding back a laugh.

Her s/o would have to be brave to try tickling her though. She's pretty good in a tickle war due to growing up with a twin.

Arlan comes to mind. you're both a bit short and your love languages seem to match. he's a pretty animal friendly person considering he looks after asta's puppy, so i can imagine him looking after a cat if one came around.

he'd be a tad more of the confident one in the relationship, he doesnt mind telling you how much he cares about you and doing things for you but he gets a little shy around pda.

he'd probably set up a mutual habit with you of checkin in on each other throughout the day which probably became more frequent after the legion attacked the station.

if he overhears you singing hes going to wait by the doorway until youre done to say anything so he can listen, he'd rather not interrupt you if he can help it.

he'd take note of your favourite foods, textures you like and so on and get you something when he has a break to visit you if he can just so he can check in on you in person and make sure you eat something rather than asking you over text.

if you ever want to share what you write with him he'd be more than happy to read it. he'd get curious and try not to pick it up without your permission but his interest might get the best of him and he could end up taking a peak anyway.

if you did something for him, gave him a personalized or hand made gift or even just gave him a kiss on the cheek in front of people he would melt so fast. bright red and stumbling over his words. he'd probably give up on trying to say anything and just hold your hand in the end.
