Looks like a pile of crap, huh? Well.. actually I think this looks pretty dang good. I took this shot for a project that I'm still waiting for the main folks to get a move on with.
What is it? Well, it's a photo of a phonebooth shot on medium format film, developed in caffenol and then printed on turmeric anthotype paper. It may be the only anthotype of a phonebooth to exist. I mixed the anthotype emulsion after a few weeks of testing. It took 9 days for the sun to burn the image into the paper properly. Then I digitally reversed it and turned it to black and white. I learned a lot about the process in the meantime. I'm not gonna both with anthotypes here in the winter... but come next summer, I'm gonna make some more.
What do you think? Am I crazy? Are good photos only sharp?

(Stuff from the 25th of October 2022 - Photography acquired!) These are a photographic contact print and stencil print, on ordinary paper sensitized with silver iodide (applied silver nitrate solution and povidone iodine, both from a pharmacy), developed with caffenol developer and hot salt water fixer. The stencil did not need developing as mere exposure to strong sunlight caused the image to appear over a few minutes, I will later show you how to draw the stencil pattern so you can make your own and spray paint it into things.
By contact print I mean that I stuck the makeshift photo paper onto my computer screen and let it sit there for a while (having previously loaded the image into ms paint and switched it into a negative), then developed it. I have since been sporadically experimenting with this paper in cameras. Also I no longer use the salt water fixer (used by Daguerre and other early photographers) as I've found that it washes down the images and can completely erase them. Now I just use ammonia solution (from the hardware store, don't get any weird ideas) though the gases that it emanates are really toxic, I try to stay upwind.

Well shit!
Took some photos today with the Speedgraphic, thought I would give the curtain shutter a go.... I developed the film in the Caffenol CM.... and the film is blank... I'm pissed I made the mistake on portraits... landscapes no harm cause no one is expecting anything well other than me. In the back of my head I'm thinking maybe I screwed up somewhere else... I just don't know.

Were on a first date at a cute little cafe, we get our drinks and sit down. You look away i turn your coffee into caffenol then develop an 8x10 photograph with it. Later that same evening we're drinking a lovely red wine at a local bar together, you step away to use the bathroom i pull out my mobile darkroom, my mini enlarger and develop a roll of film with my brand new wineol. A year has passed now we moved in together. Were in our beautiful garden, you pick a beet from the soil and place it in the basket behind you. Sweat drips from my brow, my hand quivers. Beetrootol.

Over the holidays, my brother delighted me with his interest in our dad's old film camera, FED 5b.
I ended up handing him a roll of Kodak T-Max P3200 that he shot indoors. It was his first time with a film and a rangefinder camera, and he chose to eyeball his exposures.
The next step was to develop the film, which is when we both learned something new.
This was my first time developing black and white film (my recent first emulsion in a tank was a roll of C-41, which worked out surprisingly well). Evan's much better than me with Chemistry (he's in his final years as an undergrad) and so he was able to help me out in more ways than one.
Aside from being our first time developing film, this was also the first time with Cffenol, i.e. making the chemicals from stuff found around the house.
We ended up using the Caffenol C-H formula, adjusted to 19 minutes in the tank. There was no washing soda, so we baked the baking soda to make some. There was no potassium bromide, so we relied on a hunch from a blog post that suggested substituting it with a 20x in table salt weight. There was no fixer either, so we followed another suggestion: water and salt bath, in which we submerged the film overnight at 43℃ and allowed it to cool.
We had to crush the vitamin C pills and filter them a number of times to get rid of the chalky residues. Once mixed with the washing soda, some really nasty white strings of "cheese" appeared, which we also filtered.
The negatives looked really dark and brown out of the tank, showing lots of base fog. But the pictures still turned out (scanned on PrimeFilm XAs).

I was digging some old photos to post here and I felt like I want to develop.
You should know that I had something like a break from shooting because of the price rising.
I know that I have a undeveloped roll in my tank from the summer of 2021 😄 More than a year. I need to develop it, because it's already in there. But I can't remember what stock, what ISO..
Also, my chemicals are a little old, but I think I should use them anyway. I have unopened bottle of Adox fx-39 ii, opened bottle of rodinal, and a very old Atonal 49 by Calbe. The latter will wait, now I'm dealing with rodinal and FX-39. I preferred FX-39, but I don't know what the film inside. Maybe the best will be 1 hour-stand with rodinal. I can't find my measuring tool so I could pour 6ml (I searched 2 hours!).
Well, maybe stand dev but with caffenol? Cool! But then I remembered that I still don't have precise scale to measure those powders :/
And this is how I didn't develop today.

Where can I find more information about this homemade photo developing process? Thank you in advance :)
you can look up 'caffenol', there's lots of resources on it!
the basic materials required are coffee, washing-soda, and vitamin C, so it's fairly easy to make at home. to complete the development process (since caffenol is only a developer, and doesn't include a fixer), you can stabilise the film in a strong saltwater solution overnight, and thereby carry out the entire development process by yourself!
