About Deadpool 2...

I said I would talk about it...and then I ran out of time. So I’m gonna do that, now!

Spoiler alert!

So...I liked this movie a lot better than the first, but I still didn’t find most of it funny. I know why it is funny, I can point all the jokes out, but I didn’t start laughing until much later. Deadpool caters to a different type of humor. Nothing wrong with that, it’s just not me. 

However.

The characters, the action, the cameos and the very X-men feel overall I loved. Best new additions? Domino, Cable, and this reboot-timeline version of Yukio. She’s so adorable! And don’t get me started on the JUGGERNAUT! Heavy use of CGI or no, I have waited over a decade to see a Cain Marko that actually acknowledges his relation to Charles.  I don’t even care if Deadpool exists in its own continuity until proven otherwise I’m counting it canon. THANK YOU, Deadpool team for confirming Charles’ horrible upbringing. Weird thing to say, I know, but up until now no one in the XMCU’s bothered to emphasize his personal tragedy. It’s important the audience--any who might be unfamiliar with the X-men story outside the films--know it isn’t only villains whom tragedy makes. 

Speaking of tragedy, I find it funny the Deadpool films draw from classic cliches, but somehow manage to keep them fresh and distinctly, well, “Deadpool.” I quite like his relationship with Vanessa and also liked how the film went beyond what one might expect of “death and revival” with a healing mutation. Reminded me a little of Jack Harkness, honestly. It also served to keep Deadpool’s humanity intact and in turn kept him from devolving into nothing more than a walking pop-culture reference. 

As far as the pop-culture references go, there were times I felt the script went a little over the top with them. Even more than the first film. I’m not the world’s biggest Deadpool fan so I’m not sure how often he does this outside the movies but within said movie context I much prefer occasional sprinklings as opposed to a heaping platter.  It threatened to disrupt the flow of the film once or twice, even if this is more a comedy/satire. Same with breaking the fourth wall. That said, I adored the DC references. And the post-credits scenes ;)

(Although if I’m being honest, I do still like Origins and the tragic spin on Wade’s character even if it was an abomination of the Deadpool everyone loves.)

And I cried a little inside, seeing that archived footage of Hugh. I will miss you, Wolverine. 

Let’s see, what else...

Oh yeah! The characters!

Great to see Negasonic again (Ellie, I think her name is?) Kinda wish she played a larger role, but her appearances didn’t disappoint and her powers are still SO COOL. Also love the “moody goth x pink-haired bubbly girl” trope. It’s adorable. Like I said, I adore this new Yukio even if her new incarnation differs from her original timeline counterpart. I loved original Yukio’s quirky but serious nature, and her relationship with Logan. Maybe that’s what it is, I’m still not over Logan and all these references in the film further remind me he’s not coming back.  That isn’t Yukio’s fault. I do love this new version, I do. She’s adorable and so is her interaction with Wade. I have to wonder, though...can she still see how people die? Or is new “Pinkie Pie” Yukio strictly a lightning mutant? I wish Fox paid more attention to its timelines...Deadpool or no Deadpool.

Domino was amazing. I didn’t really know much about her, going in, despite knowing of her. Couldn’t have picked a better way to handle or cast her. What a cool way to interpret her powers! Luck truly be the Lady~

As for Cable...I was so afraid he’d become a parody of the character I knew. When I was younger, he fascinated me as a character and I retain a soft spot for him. My gosh though he was AWESOME. Stayed the serious-Terminator-badass the entire time. Desperately hope we see more before Fox’s final day. Please. I love Cable and I’d love even more to see him cross paths with the X-men. Especially Scott. 

Colossus was...the same. No real comments there. I like how he pairs next to Wade as the goody-goody straight-man but I prefer his original actor XD; I guess it doesn’t much matter, new-wonky timeline. For all we know, Piotr was able to grow up in Russia now, hence the accent.

I loved the villains too, apart from Cain. Black Tom Cassidy (what is he, Sean’s nephew or something now??), poor Russel (a neat take on the to-be antagonist idea) and I gotta tell you, as a long-time fan I am LOVING all these references to the Essex name. Been a long-time coming! And to know there exist other “Mutant homes” besides Xavier’s school...it’s heartbreaking but fascinates me all at once. This new world where mutants aren’t so hush-hush. Damn! I wonder though...do the X-men know of the Ice Box? Makes you think... (By the way, that cameo scene, oh my gosh that was great. I wouldn’t want to deal with Wade either, guys.)

Gotta love the “formation” of the X-force, too. Of course Deadpool would start it and of course everyone would die XD; What a great way to sneak in cameos. I only wish Chris Evans’ Torch made it past the script drafts. I am glad kid!David made it in, though (according to my research after the film. You know that was intentional...the real question is do we now consider it “canon” or is this but another breach in reality? ;) )

There really wasn’t all that much I didn’t care for, apart from the excessive...what I’ll call “Deadpool-ness.” Silly complaint when it’s his movie but I said my piece on that. The only real moment I feel might’ve served from a slim-down was his dying sequence at the end. I get what they were trying to do, and it was funny at first; after a while, though, it started dragging. Maybe that’s just me. I don’t know. 

Overall, I really did love it, I want to see it again and I am definitely adding this to my collection when it’s released on DVD.

March 5, 2021: The Tale of the Princess Kaguya (2013) (Part Two)

Am I going to watch Kaguya-sama again after this?

It is a funny show, so I’m probably gonna watch a compilation or something. Anyway, where was I? OH RIGHT! The Tale of Princess Kaguya, Recap Part Two! This movie is beautiful so far, and I’m enjoying this adaptation of the classic story reinterpreted. Told the girlfriend about this, and she mentioned one of her favorite games: Okami.

It’s based quite heavily on Japanese mythology, and also has a similar aesthetic to this movie. Rumors persist that they’ll be rebooting this, so fingers crossed! Anyway, let’s get back to the movie! First part of the Recap is right here!

Recap (2/3)

After the dream/return to the palace, Hime seems to accept her fate as Princess Kaguya, and is no longer the rebellious and rambunctious kid she was before. And yes, I’ll be referring to her as Kaguya from now on...until the time is right. She studies (and suffers) in silence, clearly unhappy and depressed.

Miyatsuki either doesn’t understand it, or is completely ignorant of her suffering. He brings her a pet bird to keep, which she somewhat brushes off. However, she lets the bird go, as if wishing she could fly away with it.

But time once again passes, and Kaguya grows more beautiful, and the rumors of this beauty spread. People gather outside to palace to get a glimpse of her, and Miyatsuki has made sure to never show her face publicly. Her servant, Me no Warawa (Hynden Walch) is accosted outside of the palace, with a pile of messages and letters for her. She also brings cherry blossoms to the essentially captive Kaguya, for which she is thankful.

Words of her beauty and bamboo-based origins are also spread by Akita to a group of five suitors, all of whom are completely entranced. These five suitors are a classic part of the story, and are also represented in the recent anime based upon it (Kaguya-sama: Love is War). 

The five suitors LITERALLY race there, spurred on by Akita’s...really horny speech,not gonna lie, dude says that this (13-year old) girl got his “juices flowing”, real fuckin’ quote there. Guuuh. Anyway, Miyatsuki and Sagami are overjoyed, as marrying any of these dudes is a guarantee for a happy and prosperous life. But Kaguya...is honestly surprised that she’s supposed to be happy. FUCK, MAN.

She’s SUPER not interested in these guys, but they are ridiculously interested in her. She meets them in honor of her father, but not on her own behalf. They present their proposals to her, and I’ll introduce them in order! First up, Prince Kuramochi (Beau Bridges), an older man of great wealth who basically compares her to a jeweled tree branch on the mountain of Hourai. Cool? In the anime, he’s translated into the best character in the series, game and ramen lover Fujiwara Chika.

Second is Prince Ishidzukuri no Miko (James Marsden), who’s already completely fucked because James Marsden is voicing him, and he basically only plays characters destined to be cucked. Check out my recap of The Notebook for more on that. He pledges to worship her, and compares her to the Stone Begging Bowl of Buddha. In the anime, he’s translated into uptight rules-follower Miko Iino.

Ishidzukuri’s comparison is mocked by number three, Abe no Miushi, Lord Minister of the Right (Oliver Platt), a corpulent man that compares her to...a robe of fire-rat fur. You’re comparing her...to rat hair clothes? Um...wow, dude, that’s legit insulting. No wonder you don’t have a counterpart in the anime yet.

Suitor number four, Grand Counselor Ootomo no Miyuki (Daniel Dae Kim) agrees with me that that’s a SHITTY comparison, and instead compares her to the Five-Colored Jewel around a Dragon’s Neck. His counterpart in the anime is the main love interest, Miyuki Shirogane. Yeah, sort of rigged in his favor in the show. It’s based on it, not a true adaptation.

And lastly is the sullen Middle Counselor Isonokami no Maro (John Cho), who compares her to a cowry shell from a swallow’s nest, which ensures safety in childbirth. And his counterpart is the equally sullen and video-game loving Yu Ishigami, another one of the best characters in the series.

OK, enough about the anime, yeah? Sorry, I just...I just really like it. Anyway, the suitors’ comparisons give Kaguya an idea. She plays the koto for the men, which entrances them (and me, it’s a gorgeous sound), and she thanks them for the sentiment. However, for her hand in marriage, they will need to bring her each of the treasures they compared her to. After all, they compared her to rare treasures, meaning that she is also not easy to obtain. By doing this, they show that they are worthy of that treasure. NICE.

The men leave, noting that it was quite impossible to get these treasures, and that Kaguya is a rare jewel that no one will capture. Objectifying, but OK. When they leave, everybody around the castle leaves as well. Which, to be fair, was exactly what Hime wanted.

Sagami is PIIIIIIIIIIISED, and quits. Miyatsuki’s not exactly chuffed either. But Hime’s finally free, and goes out of the palace with her mother and Warawa to see the city and the cherry blossom trees. Good for her. ‘Bout time she had some fun and joy in her life.

It’s cut off VERY fast, however, when she encounters a family of commoners, who only recognize her as nobility and nothing further. Realizing how separate she now is from them as they bow to her, she breaks a little. And they leave to go back to the city. While getting back there, though, who should she run into but Sutemaru, who’s just stolen a chicken. She calls to him, and he stops and recognize her...but they leave and he’s caught. And Hime cries.

Time passes. Three years, to be specific, as they actually tell us this time. Hime’s still close to her mother, as they still garden together in the back. However, relationships with her father are less great. He comes in and tells her that the first suitor, Kuramochi, has come back with the jeweled branch after all this time. Hime can’t believe it.

Kuramochi comes in with the jeweled branch, which dazzles brilliantly. Kaguya asks how he found it. He weaves a dramatic tale of happening upon the mountain and the branch. As this takes place, though, a local craftsman comes by to collect his fee for...making the branch. And now that he’s made, the cheap-ass Prince takes the fuck off.

Next up is Abe, the rat skin guy, with fire-rat robe in hand. Kaguya calls his bluff, though, and tells him to drop that shit in the fire. If it’s real, then it won’t burn, and the two will marry forthwith. And that shit BURNS. Which sucks, because dude thought it was real, and spent literally ALL of his money on it.

Afterwards, in a conversation between Hime and Waraka, it’s revealed that Miyuki’s actually going to get the Dragon Pearl, and we see that in a gorgeous sequence. It doesn’t go well.

Meanwhile, Ishidzukuri drops by, having brought something for Kaguya. It’s not the bowl promised to her, but is instead a sweet little flower. He admits that he went searching for the bowl, filled with love for Kaguya. Instead, he found a treasure of nature, the flower, and was meant to represent his devotion and the depth of his feelings for her.

And that’s actually very sweet. But he’s James Marsden, so he’s FUCKED. But she definitely seems entranced by his offer to take her some place natural and beautiful and far away. Impassioned and full of love, he lifts open the blinds and sees...his wife. GODDAMN IT JAMES MARSDEN. The cuckee becomes the cucker.

Which sucks, because she actually did fall for him there for a second. We next hear of the Counselor, sent to fetch the cowry shell. However, he tragically dies in the attempt. This knowledge shatters Hime, who rips up her private garden in absolute sorrow. Her mom, who’s genuinely the best mom, tells her not to blame herself.

Meanwhile, as all of this is happening, Princess Kaguya has the ear of the Emperor, the Mikado (Dean Cain). He wishes for Kaguya to become one of his brides, and will make her father a member of the court. Miyatsuki, ever tone-deaf to his daughter’s desires, is thrilled. But Hime refuses, to which her father says that refusal of the Emperor’s wishes is impossible. And Hime says that she will do it to make her father happy, and then she’ll kill herself immediately after the wedding.

Um...fuck. I...I think I’m giving this one a Part Three. See you there!

i just read “i choose the emperor ending” up to completion and i feel many things about the ending and the characters, like...oh my god i feel bad for cain man, like, damn, i mean i wouldn’t consider swapping edward out for cain because like, nekwnekw, i love what marina did and i like her funny expressions like, and the misunderstanding was funny and so many things so good man

the ending though did feel good but, it does feel rushed a little since I still have a lot of questions and feel vaguely concerned, like, yeah, maro was eventually roped into becoming the emperor because he chose to pop into the novel to hunt his sister down and ended up being shaped in the perception of the public in that world as the hidden and actual should-be emperor of the empire, but like, what about their bodies??? they have parents who at least care for them and like, i feel bad for maro even though it’s a bit funny in the epilogue, I think i’ll just accept that maro and marina just pop back to the their world for a bit and go back to edward’s world since it just feels fucked up that they’re never going to leave the coma like, yeah go girl for giving women high places in society and destroying cringe and maro for being funny and other things but like, they must at least have some form of attachment to their world and they have their parents like, that’s kinda fucked up, although if their parents were shit and nobody the them despite their achievements and despite maro being charming and other sorts then that might be okay but even then like, you can dig out a path for yourself and then grow as a person as well along the way even without the empire world like, man i don’t what i’m saying even makes a lot of sense now since I’m running on words and whatnot but yeah

Brexit LIVE: 'EU calling shots' Furious Jersey fishermen protest as France punishes boats

EU: Bocquet on ‘realignment mechanisms’ in fishing waters

Fishing boats blocked the entrance to St Helier Harbour on Jersey as fishermen sounded their horns and set off flares. Skippers say they have not been allowed to land their catches in France since Brexit but the French still have access to the island’s waters. Jersey Fishermen’s Association says fishermen are being prevented from landing shellfish in France and is calling for urgent action.

Association president Don Thompson is demanding talks with ministers about this “unacceptable situation”.

He said: “I have to say fishermen would rather be fishing than holding a peaceful demonstration in the harbour.

“But fishermen’s backs are up against the wall and we’re losing boats from our fleet.”

Mr Thompson said fishermen were getting “desperate” and they needed a solution to protect their fleet.

He said: “I suspect this may just be the start of a show of force.”

11:20pm update: Frost issues threat to EU over ‘hysterical’ Brexit row – vows to ‘defend UK vigorously’

Lord David Frost has hit back at the EU after it threatened legal action against the UK.

While speaking in the House of Lords, Lord Frost insisted the UK Government was determined to defend the UK vigorously.

He was supported by Lord Caine who insisted the EU was behaving hysterically.

Lord Frost said: “These measures are lawful and consistent with the progressive and good faith interpretation of the Northern Ireland Protocol.”

Lord Caine also called on Lord Frost to give more assurances that the UK would not back down to the EU.

10.31pm update: US congress briefed on Brexit Northern Ireland row

EU Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic and Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney have briefed the US Congress’ influential Irish-American caucus on Britain’s unilateral change to Northern Irish Brexit arrangements.

The fate of Northern Ireland, closely watched by US President Joe Biden, has been the most bitterly contested Brexit issue.

While campaigning in the presidential election last year, Mr Biden bluntly warned Britain it must honour Northern Ireland’s 1998 peace agreement as it withdrew from the EU or there would be no separate US trade deal.

Boris Johnson agreed a protocol which left Northern Ireland aligned with the EU’s single market for goods after Brexit, leading to checks on some items arriving there from elsewhere in the United Kingdom.

Britain’s unilateral extension of grace periods on checks last week has led to a promise of legal action from the EU and accusations from Ireland that its neighbour is not acting like a “respectable country”.

9.19pm update: Ireland warns Brexit trade row could threaten Northern Ireland peace process

Ireland’s EU Affairs Minister has urged Britain not to jeopardise the Northern Ireland peace process in its dispute over post-Brexit trading arrangements with Brussels.

Thomas Byrne warned unilateral action by the UK risked creating “problems” at a time when the peace process remained fragile.

He spoke pout after the Government announced it was unilaterally extending a series of “grace periods” to allow businesses in Northern Ireland more time to adapt to post-Brexit rules.

The move has infuriated Brussels which accused the UK of breaching commitments which Boris Johnson signed up to in the Northern Ireland Protocol of the EU Withdrawal Agreement.

Mr Byrne said that any such actions in relation to the protocol – which is intended to ensure there is no return of a hard border with the Republic – could affect the peace process.

He said: “The peace process is both precious and fragile. We can’t afford to take risks with it.

“Unilateral action when it comes to Northern Ireland leads to problems.

“We have seen that over the years and we have seen that in recent times.

“It is absolutely essential that we don’t risk anything in Northern Ireland.”

8.41pm update: Redwood lashes out at EU over UK single market

Brexiteer John Redwood has lashed out at Brussels bosses for disrupting the movement of goods between mainland Britain and Northern Ireland.

7.29pm update: Nigel Farage explodes at Brussels double standards over Catalonia row

Nigel Farage has blasted EU bias after Brussels stripped Catalan separatist Carles Puigdemont of his diplomatic immunity because he is “Eurosceptic”.

The former Brexit Party leader claimed that if Scotland held an unofficial referendum, as SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon has hinted, its politicians would “never” lose their diplomatic immunity.

His strongly-worded tweet came after the European Parliament voted to lift the immunity of the former Catalan president yesterday.

The vote takes the extradition of Mr Puigdemont and two of his senior ministers a step closer.

The three fled Spain in 2017 to avoid arrest in relation to their role in organising Catalan’s independence referendum.

It was deemed illegal by a Spanish court and they have been the subject of European arrest warrants issued by Spain.

6.33pm update: British entertainment industry struggling with ‘no deal Brexit’

A senior Tory MP has warned Britain’ entertainment industry has been plunged into a no deal Brexit with touring performers and artists trying to travell and work in Europe facing visa restrictions and red tape.

Solihull MP Julian Knight, chairman of the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, said: “Effectively the industry has had a no deal Brexit.

“We did not settle the issue of access for our creative people where we have an economic advantage over the EU with the EU prior to our departure, this is a major oversight.”

Shadow culture minister Kevin Brennan said: “The Chancellor’s utterly complacent about the loss of export earnings to the UK that this continuing fiasco will bring.”

5.42pm update: Northern Ireland transport link dismissed as ‘Brexit smokescreen’

Northern Ireland’s deputy First Minister has branded a transport link with Scotland  a “smokescreen for the Brexit fallout”.

An official study has been announced to assess the feasibility of a bridge or tunnel between Northern Ireland and Scotland as part of a UK-wide connectivity review.

The idea has previously been floated by both the DUP and Prime Minister Boris Johnson and there have been estimates it could cost up to £20 billion to build.

But Michelle O’Neill dismissed it as a “pipe dream”.

With increasing anger among the unionist community about a so-called Irish Sea border with more checks on goods since Brexit was finalised, Ms O’Neill said the link with the UK is simply a “smokescreen for the Brexit fallout amongst the unionists who engineered it on both sides of the Irish Sea.”

Stormont transport minister Nichola Mallon also claimed the study is “politically motivated” and “more about bolstering the case for the Union ahead of the forthcoming Scottish elections”.

5.09pm update: Fishing chief shames ‘smug’ Jacob Rees-Mogg as fishermen ‘thrown under bus’

Jacob Rees-Mogg’s”smug” response to the plight of Britain’s fishermen is indicative of the way the Government has “thrown the industry under a bus”, an angry trade association boss has claimed.

Jeremy Percy, chairman of the New Under Ten Fishermen’s Association (NUFTA) which represents boats under ten metres in length, said: “The UK’s fishing industry has been thrown under the bus without a second thought, with Jacob Rees-Mogg encapsulating the Government’s apparent post EU exit lack of care or concern by smugly suggesting that we had got our fish back and that ‘they’re now British fish and they’re better and happier fish for it’.

“Suitably translated, many within the industry read this as an extension of Johnson’s earlier comment to ‘f** business’ to now include fishermen.”

4.11pm update: David Lidington urges Remainers to back Britain’s post-Brexit success

Remainers should get behind the Government to ensure Britain’s post-Brexit success, according to Theresa May’s former right-hand man Sir David Lidington.

Sir David, who describes himself as an unrepentant Remainer, said the UK now had the potential to lead the world in pioneering sectors such as fintech, life sciences, artificial intelligence and genetic modification.

He said Britain could move with more agility and creativity than its European Union rivals in the coming decade.

Writing in The Times, Sir David said: “For better or worse, this country is now fully outside the European Union.

“Whether you were an enthusiastic supporter of Leave or, like me, an unrepentant Remainer, our focus now has to be on identifying and then implementing policies that will, in the world as it now is, best enable our country to succeed.”

3.08pm update: Labour accuses Boris of provoking EU

Labour has accused Boris Johnson of “provoking” the European Union and warned such tactics would not solve the “complex” issues linked to new Irish trading arrangements.

Ministers last week unilaterally extended grace periods limiting bureaucracy linked to the Northern Ireland Protocol, which governs trade post-Brexit, until October.

But shadow Northern Ireland secretary Louise Haigh said the Government’s unilateral response meant its “words cannot be trusted” by the EU and others.

She told the Commons: “It raises serious questions about whether the Government has a strategy at all to deal with the complex realities facing Northern Ireland.

“Provocation is not a strategy and a stop gap is not a solution.

“This is an extraordinary position for a government to be in – having to break the law and trash Britain’s international reputation to remove checks they claimed never existed.”

Northern Ireland Secretary Brandon Lewis defended the Government’s “lawful” actions.

Mr Lewis said the Government’s position had been backed by a “range of businesses and the communities” in Northern Ireland.

He said: “If we had not taken this action last week, we’d have seen disruption to food supplies in literally the next couple of weeks.”

2.23pm update: Another one in the bag! UK finalises £158m Brexit deal – first European state outside EU

The UK has signed a bumper trade agreement with Albania as Britain establishes closer ties with non-EU states.

Ministers signed a £158m continuation deal with their Albanian counterparts to allow British business to trade independently outside of the bloc. 

Under the agreement ratified this week, it will ease tariffs on key imports and exports including minerals, fuels, electricity, textiles and shoes.

1.08pm update: ‘We don’t make donkeys racehorses!’ Frexit leader shames EU after J&J delays announcement

The European Union vaccination fiasco was once again laid bare by the latest announcement of delivery delays by Johnson & Johnson, reigniting calls for member states to leave the bloc.

Johnson & Johnson has told the European Union it is facing supply issues that may complicate plans to deliver 55 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine to the bloc in the second quarter of the year.

The news angered politicians across the bloc and left Frexit campaigner Charles-Henri Gallois fuming at Brussels’ incompetence.

12.25pm update: Brexit panic – Boris urged tear up ‘dangerous’ EU deal as ‘Brussels red tape’ laid bare

Boris Johnson has been urged to break away from the Brexit agreement with the EU on Northern Ireland, as the country may be stuck with the bloc’s vaccination programme from January 2022.

The leader of the Traditional Unionist Voice (TUV), Jim Allister, warned Northern Ireland risks being shackled to EU policy on medicines and vaccines from 2022.

Urging Boris Johnson’s Government to ensure no countries in the UK will have to endure the EU’s vaccination strategy proven to be a fiasco, in the future, Mr Allister called for the controversial Brexit protocol to be ripped apart.

11.19am update: Eurostar crisis – European officials beg UK for support as train operator faces collapse

Eurostar chiefs have begged UK ministers for help as the cash-strapped train operator faces collapse.

Chiefs begged Transport Secretary Grant Shapps to help bail out the international train operator. It comes the Express understands the operator could become wholly European owned.

The carrier, which runs services between London St Pancras and Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, carried 11 million passengers in 2019.

But 95 percent of services were axed as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic and is on the verge of bankruptcy.

One train a day is currently running on each of its routes for essential workers.

10.20am update: EU revenge – Bloc to ban UK scientists from space project – ‘Never seen anything like this’ 

The European Commission has made plans to exclude British researchers from a major space project, sparking the outrage of the scientific community.

According to a draft plan published by the EU executive, British scientists will be banned from contributing to research for the bloc’s Horizon Europe space project.

Swiss and Israeli scientists will also be excluded from the research plans.

09.12am update: EU to sue UK in heated Brexit row – Bitter eurocrats could trigger legal action TODAY 

Brussels is poised to slap Britain with legal action over its move to scrap EU red tape on Northern Ireland.

EU states, led by France, backed plans set out last night by the bloc’s new Brexit chief Maros Sefcovic at a private meeting of senior diplomats.

The Slovak Commission vice-president could launch formal legal proceedings as early as today, sources have told Express.co.uk.

Eurocrats are furious that Downing Street has announced it intends to unilaterally delay the introduction of customs checks on supermarket and other agricultural goods shipped between mainland Britain and Northern Ireland.

08.03am update: Furious Boris destroys EU lies as Brussels chief says UK has ‘outright ban’ on jab exports

The UK has hit back at the EU after it again spread “false” information about Britain’s vaccination programme.

European Council President Charles Michel has sparked anger in Downing Street after claiming the UK has banned exports of coronavirus jabs.

Criticising Britain’s vaccines, he also said the EU had not blocked any vaccines from leaving the continent, despite last week banning a shipment on the AstraZeneca jab from Italy to Australia.

07.30am update: UK to ‘seize destiny as independent nation’ – Liz Truss unveils new Brexit masterplan

Brexit will deliver a wave of skilled high-paying jobs across the country under a blueprint for global trade drawn up by Liz Truss.

The International Trade Secretary wants the UK to make the most of its newfound freedom by liberalising trading rules to boost areas that have been previously left behind.

Nearly 90 per cent of world growth is expected to be outside the European Union over the next five years.

A report by the Board of Trade, led by Ms Truss, calls for Britain to focus on securing trade deals with large, fast-growing economies outside Europe to reboot the economy after the pandemic.

Cum sa facem lectura placuta pentru copii?

Modul in care parintii le citesc bebelusilor, copiilor mici si prescolarilor poate avea un impact enorm asupra a cat de mult vor iubi sa citeasca atunci cand vor creste. Iata cativa pasi simpli pe care ii puteti lua in calcul pentru a-i imprieteni pe copii cu lectura!

Cele mai utile si atractive carti pentru copiii sub 5 ani sunt cele bogate in fotografii simple si cu text minimal. Acestea ofera copilului suport in dezvoltarea imaginatiei, a limbajului si mai apoi, a interactiunii verbale. Imaginile simple sunt usor de interpretat si explicat, ceea ce le face perfecte pentru cei mici. Asadar, cautati sa achizitionati cartile potrivite corespunzatoare varstei copiilor!

Copiii intre 16 si 24 de luni au deja multe cuvinte in vocabular. Acum este momentul sa puneti copiilor intrebari simple pe baza imaginilor. Daca vedeti o imagine cu un caine puneti intrebari precum ”vezi cainele?”, ”ce culoare are?”, ”ce face cainele?” Raspundeti scurt in locul copiilor, daca acestia inca nu reusesc. Aceasta cunoastere de baza a substantivelor si verbalizarea lor ii ajuta sa adauge mai repede propozitiei si celelalte parti ale discursului ca verbele si adjectivele. Curand dupa acest exercitiu cainele se ba transforma in ”caine maro” si mai apoi in ”cainele maro mananca”, progresiv ajungandu-se la descrieri din ce in ce mai detaliate a imaginilor.

In timp ce le cititi, tineti copiii aproape, imbratisa-tii! Acest lucru ajuta la asociere lecturii cu sentimentul apropierii, apartenentei, sigurantei si confortului. In cele din urma, copilul va deveni mai increzator in faptul ca face bine citind si nici citirea cu voce tare nu va fi o problema stiind ca va fi incurajat si sustinut de un adult.

Majoritatea cartilor pentru copii mici prezinta situatii din viata reala. Daca intalniti un text despre cineva care merge la magazin sau face baie, faceti imediat paralela cu momentele asemanatoare din viata copilului. Facand paralela cu experientele reale traite de copil, il veti ajuta sa faca exercitii de memorie, fapt care il va ajuta sa isi insuseasca anumite comportamente.
