Okay but like what if Frankie had asthma?

Like. What if the lungs their parents chose for them didn't work right? Or like did at first and then as time went on decided not to? I'd love to see them navigating this new development after usually being the "handy super monster" for lack of a better term.

This is 100% me projecting onto my fave but I want an MH character with an inhaler😭

I developed asthma spontaneously in adulthood and it was a really tough adjustment.

I'm sure there are kids out there who know what it's like to wake up one day with lungs that don't work right anymore.

I know Frankie is a bionic corpse who probably doesn't actually need to breathe but also MH has bent the rules with monster lore so why not???

Asthma is something I can actually see Ghoulia having as well even though again, walking corpse🤣

I wonder why people don’t seem to remember Shari Lewis in the way they do Fred Rogers. Both got started roughly around the same time, both had a hand in innovating children’s television and both their careers lasted through the 90s. Shari unfortunately passed several years before Mr. Rogers but not by too many years.

Is it because Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood had such a lengthy run? Shari never stopped performing, and hosted several shows throughout her career, but there was a bit of a gap in consistency. Still, from 1992 until her death in 1998 she had two television shows in PBS that I watched frequently. It wasn’t just a 90s kid thing either: like many parents of children watching Mr. Rogers in the 90s, my mom grew up watching Shari and Lambchop on TV in the 60s.

Is it because Mr. Rogers addressed mature topics and dared to cross social taboos at a time when it was punishable out in the world? I do recall Lambchop’s Play-Along having a much more whimsical tone, and the issues it did tackle for kids weren’t quite as intense as Mr. Rogers. Although Lambchop’s Special Chanukkah was really my first exposure to the holiday and its traditions. You really didn’t see a lot of that in the 90s - at least I didn’t.

Is it because Fred Rogers had his own studio? I imagine that helps significantly in maintains a legacy, even if that wasn’t his original intent.

Or is it…and I hate to bring this up without doing nearly as much research as I need to but—does Mr. Rogers maintain his fame in today’s world in part because he was a male entertainer? Was his program more widely approved by parents during the 50s and 60s and 70s because television was seen as more respectable and reputable for men? Whenever I see posts praising children’s entertainers of old, especially from my childhood, it’s almost always men. Sometimes Loonette the Clown makes it on there but not often.

Obviously a lot of these men, including Bob Ross and Steve Burns and Steve Irwin genuinely loved life and loved teaching and cared so much about the world and the kids watching them. I admire them all so much and we lost Irwin way too soon.

Shari cared too though. Yet today, Lambchop is only ever associated with dog toys—and most people don’t even know her name. I know Mallory Lewis is active on social media and keeping her mother’s legacy alive…but it’s still not the same.

Why did the world forget Shari? What happened?

Genuinely asking and pondering here. Searching for answers and speculation, not a fight🙏
