I know that mechanically Beau doesn't speak Zemnian (at least not until level 13) but also she was educated by an archivist-spy institution based out of rexxentrum she definitely has like. A mandatory-high-school-spanish-class knowledge of Zemnian. Like she may not have been paying attention but they absolutely would've required at least a reading knowledge I know she can say donde está la biblioteca

It really is so fun that Essek started mentioning "my partner" like every three lines because he probably doesn't actually get the chance to talk about it that often.

I think there can often be an impulse when you really care about someone to want to shout from the rooftops all the great things you feel and notice about them, and Essek isn't really in a position to do that. The people who he can talk freely to already know him and Caleb, and the people who don't know them likely aren't safe to tell real personal details to. It's one thing to fabricate a parental relationship knowing that there isn't someone to trace that to, but it's an entirely different thing to tell someone honestly about the people you love when any small detail might put them in danger if it fell into the wrong hands.

The Hells are safe to say that kind of thing to—perhaps mostly on a meta level, in that the DM is aware that they are the protagonists—and they also characteristically tend to offer a listening ear to anyone they meet, and I think it's delightful that Essek actually recognized and responded to that.

Lilith: [rolls eyes] I’m not sure what’s worse, your insufferable pseudo-intellectualism rubbing off on her or her infuriating impertinence rubbing off on you. Either way, I don’t think I like it.

Caleb: And I don’t think I particularly care.

Lilith: Do remember I kindly chose to leave you with your windpipe intact. I can’t guarantee I’ll be feeling so generous next time.

{🧁} - Caleb had been very preoccupied with decorating his latest batch of mini princess cakes, so when he heard the bell at the door, he didn't look up but said brightly, "Welcome in, I'll be right with you~!" He just had to make one last icing flower, and then-

His hands trembled violently when he suddenly felt hot breath on the back of his neck, followed by lips pursing and slowly, deliberately sucking the skin. Hands snaked around his front and held onto his chest. Caleb recognized those hands, could smell the cologne...

"You could've... at least said hello before getting handsy..." Caleb leaned back, felt Anders move his kisses up his neck.

"You were concentrating so hard... I couldn't bring myself to distract you..." came Anders' breathy reply, before he ran his tongue along Caleb's ear. Caleb gasped and bit his lip to hold back a moan.

"You know I don't close for another two hours...-" He let a whine slip out. "Anyone could catch you feeling me u-oh...~"

Caleb's eyes slipped closed and his breathing became heavier. Felix... wasn't being fair-! He knew his weak spots and-... Caleb's lips curved up a little.

He knew Felix's weak spot too...~

Caleb reached up behind him and tangled his fingers into Felix's hair, getting a low grunt against his neck. Then he tugged and that grunt turned into its own moan. Felix released Caleb.

"That's cheating-" Felix tried to look mad but the blush on his cheeks said otherwise. Caleb tapped his nose.

"You cheated first~ I'll be done in two hours, you can wait, baby~"

The fact that he can’t hurt him, even though Caleb is literally here because of Philip’s own mind projecting him. The fact that directly after trying to hurt him, Philip’s body starts to fall apart.

This shot in its entirety. Almost as if he’s bowing down while Caleb looks on coldly. Again--this is Philip’s own manifestation of Caleb, and yet this is the brother he sees. He sees him as steady and unyielding, unsympathetic. 

Philip knows he’s in the wrong. He just can’t handle it.

Fanon caleb does not get enough credit for his 16 charisma like I know he's sad and haunted and offputting and he's obviously not arrogant golden boy bren charismatic anymore but that cha is still doing work. Like he's persuasive. He speaks well. He regularly launches into well-crafted and carefully delivered monologues. He knows the language of zealotry and he can use it. He's an ex-spy. Like he's sad and wet but he's not a shy blustering social idiot this man pulls off risky and confident gambits on the regular.
