Week 8

Some of the challenges I think my client may face when following my recommendations is staying commiting. If there is anything that I learned is that, growing an audiece and social media platform, is that it takes time. Even after intialing "going viral". It takes time and effort to keep growing in an upward and positive direction. The most important thing to do when not getting the results you are looking for is to first stay optimistic and look at what possible needs to be changed in order to recieve better results when it comes to engagement. It is all about consitancy and staying to the set posting and content caledar in order to reach the audiece at the right time. If posting becomes irregular or posts become unoriginal, engagment will go down

Another challege I think my client may face is recieving that intital engagement. I worry that if they post interactive content on their pages or to instagram stories. No one or very few will interact because of their low engagement to begin with. Again, just keeping that positive mindset and growing with what you are given.

I think there should be more months that end in -uary. Here are my suggestions (mostly based on names of roman gods). Also I think they should all start with different letters so that we only need one letter for each on a calendar.

If someone had asked you what you expected to enjoy most about your work as a police officer in training the last thing you would have thought to answer was: Sitting in the break room, listening to the newest precinct’s gossip and shooting shit with your colleagues.

But here you are. Doing exactly that and enjoying yourself immensely while trying not to question your level of loneliness that makes you sit there for longer than necessary nursing your second cup of awful coffee.

“Did you hear what happened at that company in King’s Street last night?” Your colleague laughs and doesn’t even try to whisper.

“No.” You shake your head and resist the urge to lean closer.

“The security called in a break in. Someone had triggered an alarm. Turns out it was the boss and his lover. On the roof. In some state of undress.” He laughs. “Guess some people have all the luck these days.”

You laugh as well and fight down the sudden wave of jealousy that hits you right in the chest. “Yeah. Some people have all the luck.” You murmur, not talking about the colleagues who got to see two love birds doing it on a London office roof.

You bite your lip and take a deep breath before seemingly turning your attention to the newspaper lying on the table. You really were in a bad state if a comment like this could throw you this much.

Your colleague shrugs and gets up. Leaves the room while your eyes fly over the words on the paper in front of you. Not seeing anything really till they land on a head line and the picture underneath.

It shows a man, a young guy. Blonde, beautiful bright blue eyes shining even through the shitty quality of the newspaper print, crouching down next to a golden Labrador, smiling at the animal and not the photographer.

“Adopt a Pet for Christmas.”

You whisper the words and let your fingers run along the headline and the edge of the photo. It’s an article about the local shelter asking people to consider adopting a dog.

“We know there are always lonely people out there during the holidays.” The article quotes someone named Michael. Maybe he’s the guy in the photo? You smile as your lips form the name and continue reading.

“But there will be even more people celebrating the holidays by themselves this year. Large families can’t meet, can’t spend time together. And what is supposed to be a lovely time just becomes very lonely if you really think about it. Well, our animals here at the shelter are lonely too. Not just on Christmas but every day. They are looking for a home. Someone to understand them, to want to be with them, to love them. So if you have got the time and the place for a pet and you feel alone, please come visit us. Maybe you’ll find someone perfect here for you. A dog. A cat or even a lizard or guinea-pig…”

You barely finish reading the last sentence before you start ripping the article out of the newspaper and push it into your uniform pocket. It feels right.

Advent Calendar 5/31 (Runaways)

A/N Meet some more of my OCs, these are from a different project than the haunted house story. It’s sort of a prologue before the main story, feel free to ask me more about them I’d love to post more about them :D

“Do you think they’ll find us?”

Jasper looked at the girl sitting on the curb. Lili’s knees were drawn up to her chest as she traced meaningless patterns on the pavement with her finger. Even though he was only half a year older, he felt a strange surge of protectiveness rise in him. This was the girl he’d grown up with. He’d seen her cry as she scraped her knee while learning how to ride a bike, walked to school with her everyday, climbed across the stretch of roof separating their two windows countless times. He’d heard her shrieks as her mother had screamed at her for being “unnatural,” she’d cried for him when he endured the same treatment from his parents. She always was such a crybaby.

“They won’t. I’ll make sure.”

She frowned for a moment, then hopped to her feet and dusted off her pink overalls. “Just because you’re older doesn’t mean you have to be in charge. I’m smarter than you.”

“You wish, dummy. Let’s go.”

She stuck her tongue out and made a face at him.

He picked up her sparkly backpack and they started walking. Towards where he wasn’t sure, but he’d fight tooth and nail to make sure they ended up okay.

I’m like...all for fall and the changing of seasons and stuff but there’s something increasingly...painful about the “I need fall!!!” posts. I stan fall too but the world is changing and at every season’s end I can’t help but fear that this was the last one. That summer or winter or spring won’t feel like this anymore. So for now I’ll savor the last hot days and the final long warm evenings even though I can’t wear a sweater yet, thanks
