Set post lightning strike buck is struggling in his recovery era. coming to terms with the fact that he died is tough. do you know what else is tough? coming to terms with the fact that you watched your unrequited love best friend die. Eddie is also struggling.

Buck ends up hurting his hands real bad while at his apartment and eddie comes to his rescue. While bandaging buck's hands, all eddie can see is the marks from the lightning that had been there that night, and all he can see is the bandages that had been around buck's hands in the hospital.

there's a lot of emotion, some pining, and maybe some feelings realizations <3

It’s a good thing he hasn’t had to think about much, or at least anything of much importance. He’s been astutely avoiding thinking about the slew of tests his doctor has ordered and Maddie has thrown herself into making sure Buck is taken care of, so he doesn’t even need to think of anything. There’s been a steady stream of visitors coming by the loft to keep him entertained, fed, and supported. He appreciates it, really he does.  But he can’t help but notice one particular absence in the wake of his lined up babysitters. He tries to not let it sting. It hasn’t been that long since he left the hospital, and he can still clearly see the haunted set of Eddie’s eyes when he had looked at Buck lying in the hospital bed.  He gets it — remembers when all he could see when he looked at Eddie was the bloodstained gauze and empty eyes. He hates that he’s given Eddie a version of that to carry around in his mind’s eye. It doesn’t stop him from missing Eddie, feeling his absence like a physical ache.  Buck hopes he comes around soon. If anything, he thinks seeing Eddie would break up the monotony of the loft.
