#can you outgrow food allergies?
Text
@bokketo asked: "My brother's coming into town on Saturday! It's weird and unplanned but he'll be crashing on my couch. Come have dinner with us!" // helen being super excited about family
“He does know that Saturday is Christmas Eve, right?” Maria asked Helen, double checking. She could… hmm. There was just enough time to run out and get something that wouldn’t look like a last minute present. Did this add more stress to a Christmas with her girlfriend, or less? Maria wasn’t sure and to be honest, they’d already survived a few holidays together. It was a bonus that she and Helen’s brother got along just fine.
The first visit had been absolutely nerve wracking, and this came from a woman who faced down killer robots for a living. She guessed it was never really possible to outgrow some things — like wanting the family of the person you loved to like you. But once they’d gotten through the first few nail biting hours, the two of them had managed to find a few things in common. And Helen had pulled Maria aside and told her to breathe, which had helped quite a bit. So had Helen promising that no matter what, she’d still like Maria if she bombed the first dinner with the family.
“Sure. I was going to — I mean, I can bring some food. I’ve got some recipes that travel well, just need to be reheated for a bit. Any allergies? To food or presents?” She asked, already considering her options for what else needed to be done before they could have a holiday feast. “I’m not going shopping on Boxing Day, if that’s his plan.” Maria added quickly. “That he can do on his own.”

How to Tell If you’re Baby Has a NonIgE Allergy
If your baby's eczema clears after you remove a food from their diet and reappear when the food is reintroduced, they might have non-IgE mediated allergy. However, the symptoms are very similar to those of a food intolerance.
Allergy symptoms usually occur within minutes to hours after a food is eaten, but the symptoms of these syndromes appear several hours later. This delayed presentation makes these disorders more difficult to diagnose.
Symptoms
Tumblr media
In non ige mediated allergy symptoms are delayed and often not present at all upon ingesting the offending food. These reactions include FPIES (Food Protein Induced Enteropathy in Infants), FPIAP, and Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders (EGIDs) such as eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE). These diseases are poorly understood and it is unclear what causes the immunological reaction that results in these disorders.
During an allergic reaction, mast cells (immune system cells) identify the allergen as something that is dangerous and release histamine and other substances to protect us from it. Histamine dilates blood vessels, increases the permeability of them and stimulates nerves. This leads to a variety of allergy symptoms including runny nose, itchy eyes, itching of the skin and hives.
Symptoms of non IgE mediated food allergies are similar to those of foods that cause intolerance, so it can be hard to diagnose them. It is important to remove the offending food from your baby’s diet and observe if their symptoms improve. If they reappear, the doctor will test for a food allergy using a double blind placebo controlled food challenge.
Diagnosis
If your baby has an IgE mediated food allergy they will most likely have a skin reaction (urticaria or angioedema) and respiratory symptoms such as asthma, rhinitis or conjunctivitis. They will also have gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, vomiting or diarrhea.
Non-IgE mediated food allergies may be harder to diagnose. This is because the symptoms do not appear as quickly after eating the food. They may take hours or even days to develop. Blood or skin prick tests do not detect these reactions so it is important to have your baby eat the food they are allergic to and then see how they react.
Some examples of non-IgE mediated food allergies are FPIES, FPIAP and EoE. The pathophysiology of these diseases is not fully understood but they all involve food sensitization, barrier dysfunction and immune dysregulation.
Treatment
The symptoms of non-IgE mediated food allergies are usually much more mild than the IgE mediated food allergies. Reactions from this type of food allergy are also less likely to be life-threatening and hardly ever require an injection of epinephrine (Epipen).
Skin prick tests or blood tests cannot diagnose a non-IgE mediated food allergy because these types of tests are designed to look for IgE antibodies in the body. Symptoms of a non-IgE mediated allergy often take hours to days to appear after a person eats the food that they are allergic to, which makes it harder to diagnose.
Most people with a non-IgE mediated foods allergy outgrow it by adulthood. For those who do not, avoiding the offending food can help ease symptoms. The symptoms of this type of food allergy can be similar to those of a food intolerance, so it is important to consult with a doctor before completely removing any food from your baby’s diet.
Prevention
Non ige mediated food allergy reactions are rare and mainly affect the gastrointestinal tract. These diseases include eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES), and food protein-induced allergic proctocolitis (FPIAP). Little is known about the immunology of these diseases. It is likely that innate immunity drives these reactions.
Unlike IgE-mediated food allergies, non-IgE triggered reactions usually occur within several hours of eating the offending food. This is because of the faster onset of symptoms caused by mast cells, which are immune system cells that are found in the skin, nose, eyes, mouth and gut. When exposed to an allergen, these cells identify it as an enemy and release histamine and other chemicals that induce allergy symptoms. When babies suffer from FPIES, EoE or FPIAP they must remove the offending food from their diet for a few days. Then slowly add the food back into their diet and monitor for symptoms.

It’s CMA-
Okay the food intolerance one may be misleading because I had basically a freak health accident happen when I was 14, which is why I developed a bunch of food intolerances and health issues all at the same time.
So I don’t think it’s super common to have a severe intolerance develop suddenly, I’m just very prone to having freak accidents.
That being said, I do know lactose intolerance can start at any age, which sucks. I’m really lucky that I’m only very mildly intolerant, and it’s only to drinking a lot of milk (not other dairy products), so I’m fine 99.9% of the time.
Re: the chocolate thing, okay completely anecdotally, I’ve noticed that it’s mostly older people who like dark chocolate more and that young kids tend to like white chocolate more, and that a lot of people outgrow their love of white chocolate and grow into liking dark chocolate.
Sort of related, but most kids hate vegetables but grow to love them as adults. So I don’t know if it’s like, your tastebuds changing as you age, or what, but there is that.
Also though, I feel obligated to mention this as someone who studies child development, according to a bunch of sources, kids aren’t actually born hating vegetables, it’s a conditioned response. Confusingly though (I should really ask a professor about this), newborns do show an ability to distinguish different tastes and show a preference for sweet things (compared to salty, bitter, and I forget the last).
I mean according to like the evolutionary brain stuff, we are meant to enjoy sweet things more than bitter (sugar = energy (super duper important thing that helps us survive, also relatively rare in the wild so it should be taken advantage of; no to very low risk of eating too much sugar in the wild, plus you’d be working out a lot more foraging or hunting or whatever).
So idk if that first sentence is actually just propaganda to get parents to be more positive about vegetables with kids, but it does work somewhat, since kids who were raised only eating “healthy” foods tend to prefer them, but honestly it’s kind of confusing lmao.
Sorry I just infodumped so much about this absolutely useless info lmfaooo sorry (but I feel like you know me well enough to know that this is a thing by now lmaooo)
Oooh I may have confused food intolerance with allergies! 😮 Allergies can develop any time I think? 😱
I really like milk products so I'm hoping I won't develop that at any time🙈
Yeah I noticed that too! Like all my older relatives prefer dark chocolate meanwhile I'm in the corner gnawing on milk chocolate🙈
My taste in vegetables changed a lot as I grew up❤️ But like, I still hate cabbage and eggplant and leek so much 😂 I can never eat them, no matter how they are cooked😂
I used to hate mushrooms and now I love them so so much! ❤️

what's your muse's niche interest that they could talk for hours about? what are some popular foods that your muse hates? what's your muse's favorite zoo animal?
in-depth headcanon questions || accepting
what's your muse's niche interest that they could talk for hours about?
Miles is the kind of guy who knows a little bit about a lot of subjects, so it really isn't that hard to get him talking about anything, really. Even if it's not something he's primarily interested in he'll still entertain a good conversation or debate about a variety of topics. He's prone to getting lost in thought / conversation, so he can deep-dive just about any subject. It's not super niche, but he does know a lot about Cold War era politics and history. History in general is a topic he's pretty invested in and could ramble about for a while -- he got a history minor with his college degree if he is reading for fun, it's most likely historical nonfiction.
Of course, you could probably also get him going about most major current events, too. It's just in his nature as a reporter to be informed and have a lot of opinions he's always willing -- maybe too willing -- to share.
what are some popular foods that your muse hates?
Anything strawberry flavored. He had a low grade allergy to strawberries as a kid, which he did outgrow -- but now he's just got a vendetta against the taste of them. Miles does unfortunately fall for a lot of food trends when it comes to desserts, though. And he hasn't met a lot of sweets that he doesn't like. Pretentious and popular fine dining type things do just annoy him on principle. Those waves of everything being a certain flavor -- bacon flavored, pizza flavored, etc. -- aren't his favorites either. He's also got a weird thing against milk alternatives. Not that he begrudges other people from using them, he just doesn't think any of them taste right.
what's your muse's favorite zoo animal?
Do foxes count? They're cool and smart and sneaky and independent and he finds that relatable. Flamingos are a close second, just because they're fun and flashy and tacky -- also relatable.

Common Issues of Dental Health in Children
Many common issues can affect a child's dental health. These include tooth decay, malocclusion, and teeth grinding. As a parent, you must understand some of these problems and learn what you can do to help your child.
Tooth decay
Tooth decay is one of the most common dental health problems children face. Bacteria in the mouth usually cause it. When the bacteria feed on sugars found in food and drink, they produce acids that eat away at the tooth's surface. This process can be painful and result in tooth loss.
Dental health care in children should start at an early age. Children should receive regular dental exams and cleanings to prevent tooth decay. A child's dentist can diagnose cavities and tooth decay with a simple exam and x-rays.
To prevent tooth decay, parents should keep their children from foods and drinks containing high sugar. Limit their child's intake of candy, bread, and fruit juices to two snacks a day.
In addition to healthy eating, toddlers should also drink plenty of water. The longer a food or drink stays in the mouth, the more likely it is to become acidic.
If a child has advanced tooth decay, it may cause pain, swelling, and even tooth loss. The disease can be very costly to treat.
When your child has a toothache, it is essential to take them to a dentist immediately. An infected tooth can travel to the brain and cause a life-threatening infection.
Some signs of tooth decay include white spots, holes, and broken teeth. In some cases, abscesses can form, which can cause fever, pain, and facial swelling.
Dental caries in children is generally more common in low-income families. They are more common in minority groups, including African-American, Hispanic, and Asian American children.
A dentist can prevent tooth decay with dental sealants. These sealants cover the chewing surfaces of the back teeth.
Tooth grinding
Tooth grinding, or bruxism, is a common problem among children. It can be caused by stress, anxiety or hyperactivity. However, it can also result from other health issues, such as misaligned teeth, an allergy, or a drug reaction.
Grinding teeth can interfere with chewing and digestion. It can also cause earaches and jaw pain. In addition, it can wear down tooth enamel, which can lead to eventual tooth loss.
Bruxism is often associated with sleep disorders, so parents should ensure that their child gets a proper amount of sleep each night. If you notice that your child is waking up frequently during the night, or if you hear grinding noises, you should take them to a GP or dentist.
Some children grind their teeth to relieve stress or because they have misaligned teeth. Others grind their teeth because of a medical condition, such as cerebral palsy, ADHD or epilepsy.
Most young children will outgrow their teeth-grinding habit by the time they reach six years old. If your child is still grinding teeth, they may need a mouth guard or a visit to the dentist.
Getting a diagnosis of bruxism early can prevent future problems. Your child's dentist can determine the source of the problem and offer tips to help your child break the pattern of bruxism.
A dentist can also examine your child's teeth for signs of wear and tear. They can also assess the influence of the factors contributing to bruxism.
If your child has an underlying problem, such as anxiety, they may need additional help. A doctor can assess your child's anxiety level and talk with them about his worries.
Cavities
Cavities are one of the most common problems among children. Bacteria in the mouth cause them. The acid that bacteria produce erodes the surface of the tooth.
If left untreated, cavities can cause pain and infection and even lead to the loss of a tooth. It can also interfere with learning and speech.
Children should be seen by a dentist as soon as a cavity develops. Dental X-rays can reveal if a hole has formed. Treatment will vary depending on the child's age, condition, and symptoms.
Typical causes of cavities in children are lack of proper dental care, irregular brushing habits, and consuming sugary foods. Parents can help prevent cavities by teaching their children good brushing and flossing techniques.
Poor oral health children have a higher chance of missing more school. Keeping children's teeth clean will prevent the bacteria that cause cavities from spreading. In addition, a good diet can improve their oral health.
Having a dentist inspect your child's teeth twice a year is the best way to avoid cavities. A pediatric dentist can recommend measures to prevent them and the proper methods for treating them.
When a cavity is detected, the dental team uses tools to remove the bacteria and treat the decay. Fillings, or restorations, are used to repair the damage. Some dentists will use nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, to make the process comfortable for the patient.
Untreated cavities can cause pain and lead to infection and problems with speaking and eating. However, if the problem is treated promptly, it can be reversible. Treating cavities in children can save your child from the discomfort, pain, and infections associated with this condition.
Malocclusion
Malocclusion is a common problem that is encountered in children. It can affect their dental health, as well as their appearance and social life. Depending on the severity, malocclusion may need orthodontic treatment. However, treatments are available to help remedy the condition quickly.
There are many reasons for a malocclusion. Some of these include genetics, poor oral habits, and accidents. Whether malocclusion is hereditary or a result of an accident, finding the right solution can make all the difference.
While dental trauma is the most common dental disease in children, malocclusion can also be caused by other factors. Children with crowded teeth, misshapen jaws, or missing teeth are at high risk.
Oral habits such as thumb-sucking, lip-sucking, and pacifier use may contribute to a malocclusion. The effects of malocclusion on your child's smile and self-esteem are potentially long-lasting. In addition to dental problems, malocclusion can impact the development of speech, chewing, and other activities.
According to researchers, malocclusion can strongly predict dental and oral health problems. However, more research is needed to determine the pathways to malocclusion and to assess the impact of malocclusion on oral health.
Several studies have identified a connection between malocclusion and dental caries. One study assessed the relationship between malocclusion and gum disease. Another evaluated the association between malocclusion and self-esteem.
Malocclusion can be treated through orthodontics, jaw surgery, and mouth appliances. Each treatment is customized for the individual child. Your dentist will work with you to determine if the malocclusion is the cause of your child's dental health issues.
Pediatric dentistry focuses on the early stages of dental disease. Managing these diseases will prevent the development of more serious dental problems.
Dental abscesses
Dental abscesses are infections that can occur when bacteria enter the tooth or gum. Gum disease, cavities, or trauma to the teeth can cause them.
A dental abscess can be painful for children. Symptoms include facial swelling, mouth pain, and difficulty swallowing.
Depending on the extent of the infection, a dentist can treat the abscess by either cleaning it out or removing it. If the condition is severe, the dentist may recommend antibiotics.
In severe cases, the abscess can spread to other body areas. This can lead to a variety of medical conditions. An untreated dental abscess can cause swelling in the jaw and eyes and ear pain. It can also result in pneumonia.
If your child has a dental abscess, the first step is to visit your child's dentist as soon as possible. Your dentist will examine your child's tooth and determine the best treatment options.
To prevent dental abscesses, children should be diligent about their oral hygiene. Flossing between their teeth and brushing them with a soft-bristled toothbrush are great ways to keep bacteria from spreading. Children should brush twice a day with fluoridated toothpaste. Also, use a child-friendly mouthwash and avoid processed foods.
It would help if you also considered avoiding sugary snacks for children. Foods with high sugar are a breeding ground for tooth decay-causing bacteria. Using an ice pack on the infected area can help reduce pain.
You should consult a pediatric dentist if you have concerns about your child's teeth or gums. These professionals have the experience and patience necessary to treat complex oral issues.

Why Korean Food Items So Healthy?
Soya Beans

Take Note of These 8 Kids’ Soybean Health Benefits
In many cultures, soy is an essential part of the meal from the very beginning. Tofu and miso are two examples of soy-based foods that are new to many Americans, and there are also safety issues. Tofu and soy milk are examples of soy products that are high in protein (meat-like), meaning they include all the amino acids you want your kids to consume in their meals.
Additionally, edamame is rich in iron and fiber, two minerals that some kids need. Furthermore, children will eventually outgrow their allergy to soy, even though it is one of the most frequent.
Let’s examine the benefits of soybeans for kids’ health.
In terms of protein composition, soy is thought to be comparable to animal food types, while plant proteins are anticipated to be processed differently than animal proteins.
For instance, studies have shown that soy protein isolates lower cholesterol levels in people who already have high cholesterol levels, whereas protein from animal sources may increase cholesterol levels. The health benefits of Nigerian Ogbono may be of interest to you.
Functions to Enhance Bone Health
The high quantities of calcium, magnesium, copper, selenium, and zinc in soya beans are crucial for several bodily processes, including bone health. Soya beans also contain a wealth of other nutrients and minerals.
These components are essential for creating osteotropic movement, which analyzes fresh problems and quickens the bone-recovery process. Find out more about turmeric’s benefits for your bones.
Children’s Lactose-Intolerant Substitute
In soy products, lactose is not present. Children who are lactose intolerant do not create enough lactase, an enzyme that breaks down lactose in the stomach, to digest the lactose in milk.
An ideal substitute for milk for lactose-intolerant children is soy milk, which is made from soybeans. While we’re talking about milk, these are the health benefits of flaxseed milk.
Intake of calories and fat is decreased.
When compared to meat and dairy foods, soy products are frequently lower in fat and calories. The majority of youngsters do not need additional fat in their diets, while some may need higher doses of fat in their weight-loss plans.
Tumblr media
Includes Essential Nutrients
Soya beans are rich in many essential elements that kids need for healthy growth and development. In any case, you need to make sure that the right formula is set up so that your infant can get these vitamins. Make sure your child is not allergic to soybeans to avoid problems.
makes sure to keep a healthy body weight
Your kid being tall is not out of the ordinary. Children effectively foster obesity for a variety of reasons. Their diet’s high-fat content is one of the main contributing factors. Soybeans contain incredibly little fat. Children are advised to assist them to maintain their body weight because of this.
This product does not include any hormones.
In soy milk made from soybeans, hormones are not found. Most parents worry about giving their kids milk that has been tainted with hormones. Many dairy farms employ the synthetic hormone BGH to boost milk production (recombinant bovine growth hormone).
Your milk can contain synthetic growth hormones if it isn’t labeled as NO BGH. While the FDA and other health organizations have given their approval for the consumption of products from cows treated with rBGH, many parents may feel comfortable giving their kids soy milk because it is hormone-free.

Less risk, more useful results
Less risk, more useful results
June 16, 2022 — What would you do if you thought you had a serious health problem, but the best way to know for sure could kill you? That’s the reality for patients who want to confirm or rule out a food allergy, says Sindy Tang, PhDan associate professor of mechanical engineering at Stanford University in California. And it’s why Tang and her colleagues are developing a food allergy test that is…

What are your thoughts on pre serum Steve getting the good meds he needs and putting on some weight? Like, Bucky gets a well paying job and Steve’s art is going well and so he can get what he needs now, and they can eat decent food too.
So Steve eats, and eats and eats! His allergies and intolerances are manageable now, his body can digest most things for the first time, and he’s revelling in it… and gets pretty tubby as a result.
Round cheeks, slight second chin, perky tits and soft belly, thick thighs and arms and pudgy hands? Bucky’s obsessed with how soft his hands are, how round they look, how round he looks. He looks delicious, he looks well cared for and loved, he looks like plump, spoiled little prince and Bucky’s obsessed. (Also what if Steve does become a slight brat? Sugar Daddy Bucky maybe?)
Okay, so I read this the first time and was given slight, almost, your-eating-habits-finally-catch-up-to-you vibes. Almost ex-jock, like, your metabolism slows down and you finally put on weight and you probably put that weight on pretty fast 🥴🥴 and as enticing as that is:
Imagining that perhaps pre-serum Steve was eating a fuck ton to try and combat his chronic pain, subconsciously even, filling the pain and discomfort with sugar especially, but also whatever food he could get his hands on. Which only changes once his underlying conditions are treated, the meds he’s on slowing his hummingbird metabolism while his eating habits don’t really change on account of how overjoyed he is to be pain-free; food being used as a comfort and a celebration and gaining a truly impressive amount of weight as a result.
But...
That’s not this ask. And I really, really do like this idea!
I love this idea.
I love the thought put into the fact that Steve probably/definitely had issues getting down and keeping down food. So, when his conditions are treated, he can put down food, keep food down, and enjoy the flavor and filling nature of food. Basically, re-discovering food and becomes unable to keep himself from overindulging.
Can you imagine?
Unbeta'd as usual. Warning for: belly kink, weight gain, stuffing, hand kink, slight humiliation, etc.
Bucky would love to lovingly tease Steve about it… how fast he’s growing. He would love to grab and pinch him...
Grabbing his face and squishing his lovely, newly round cheeks until Steve can’t help but squirm and turn bright red, lowering his head in an effort to get his blond bangs to cover his face, hiding from the embarrassment. But all it succeeds in doing, really, is making his double chin more obvious. Which is much, much better for Bucky 😳
Grabbing his perky tits all. the. time. Bucky would weekly, at least, grab his tits in his hands to measure how big they’re getting. How much of a handful are Steve’s tits this time? How sensitive are his nipples now that they’re bigger and softer? Growing along with the rest of him. How much effort does it take Bucky to find his collarbones under his new layer of fat?
Pinching and grabbing his soft new belly… fuck... that might make Bucky cream his pants- the feeling of all those calories piling up around his waist. That concave stomach is long gone and replaced with a bowing out pot belly. And I mean a POT BELLY. His belly is disproportionate almost. Large enough that it shakes and jiggles and is visible from behind when Bucky (very occasionally) fucks him (Steve usually gets his fix of being stuffed through food, not dick). Or fucks those chubby thighs now that they not only meet in the middle - rather than there being a gap between his thighs - but also rub and get in the way of each other. Leaving Steve with a friction rash whenever it gets hot out and he’s been walking around in only his boxers as he paints, working from home.
Pinching his arms too, Bucky can’t help himself, he’ll come up to Steve when he’s drawing, shirtless more often than not with how fast he’s outgrown all his clothes (and continues to outgrow his new clothes, Jesus wept), and grab one of those bingo wings. Just because they were moving around, jiggling a little, as he reached for another pencil or another mid-work snack. It always makes Steve squawk. Bucky can’t stop himself though. His Steve. So fat that even his arms are fat!
Grabbing his hands too… yessss.
There’s this FANTASTIC fic on Archive “Show your teeth, Now play dead” by TyrantTirade (x) that is peak hand kink to me. Basically, it’s Bucky being a little submissive and a little bit of an attention seeker, wanting Steve’s whole hand in his mouth- because pre-serum Steve’s hand is small enough to fit in his mouth. It comes across as a little humiliating and in the spirit of fisting… just at the other end. Anyway, I love that fic. And that’s where my mind went with the hand thing...
Bucky sucking on Steve’s fingers or begging for Steve to try and fit his hand, now chubby with this weight gain, into his mouth? *shivers*
I-
I am obsessed with this thought. Also, it leads nicely into the bratty Steve angle.
Like-
Bucky is on his knees, next to Steve’s spread legs, Steve’s belly is the only thing hanging between his thick thighs, not Bucky. Bucky wants to be there instead. But he's not, he's off the side of Steve's right leg. Watching. Waiting.
Bucky also so badly wants Steve to push his fingers into his mouth, not just to be between his legs, wanting his chubby little prince’s attention. Practically drooling for the attention. Today he feels a little neglected, craving to be paid as much attention as Steve pays to his food. Food that he’s eating. More. He’s eating even more than he usually does. Claiming to be extra hungry today...
Steve is Teasing Bucky intentionally (unbeknownst to Bucky) by stuffing himself from the time he woke up this morning to right now, there’s been something in his mouth every minute of the day it feels like, his stomach aches. He can feel new stretchmarks incoming. He can feel Bucky’s eyes on him like fire. As full of food as Steve is… Bucky is also that full of sexual frustration.
Steve has only spoken to Bucky today when he wants more food, but he doesn’t want to get up from where the weight of his fat, stretch-marked body is sinking into the couch. And Bucky is coming off of a week of long work hours, but now, during the weekend, he has just one thing on his mind.
He needs.
Bucky starts whining at some point.
And to tease more, Steve looks down at him, feeling his double chin become exaggerated, oh god, asking, “what’s wrong down there?”
Bucky sucks in a breath. There are crumbs on Steve’s face- crumbs from cookies? Some kind of bread? Crumbs are on his double-chin too. And on his fingers… there are smears of food. Some crumbs, but he’s been eating something with jam too. It’s smeared on his fingers, melting and sticky as he stuffed whatever had jam on it, in it, in his mouth.
“Oh,” Steve plays dumb, barely hiding a smirk, “are you hungry, Buck?”
Bucky is paralyzed in arousal.
Steve takes his nonanswer as an actual answer. And. He shoves his fingers in Bucky’s gaped mouth, ordering him, “lick ‘em clean. Then maybe I’ll share some real food… depends on if we’ve got more food or not though, I am still a little hungry, and if we don’t…” he clicks his tongue, “maybe not. Maybe I won’t share. I’ve got more belly to fill than you, so I need more, don’t you think?”
Bucky’s head is spinning, his mouth full of three, no, four fingers. Licking them clean, just like Steve ordered him to. But he can’t resist taking those fingers as deep into his mouth as he can too, sucking on them like he would Steve’s cock… his cock… his cock has got to be hard under the heft of his ever-growing belly but- his belly is in the way. Bucky can’t see if he’s hard.
It sends a greater rush through him for some reason.
He can’t tell if Steve is enjoying this or not! He... he could really only be thinking with his gut. He could only be focused on stuffing himself as full as he can be, until he can’t breathe and his belly is flushed red, packed tight enough to stress his skin. He might be more obsessed with food than with orgasming, Bucky might’ve trained him too well to be addicted to food and now he’ll have to walk around, always hard and ready to beg at the drop of a hat because his Steve looks so good! Fat and round! So good! But... so uninterested in anything that isn't food.
Lord.
That thought shouldn’t turn him on but… it does. It really does.
Bucky sucks harder at his fingers, nodding. Steve does need more. Steve needs more until he’s too fat to think about anything but being fat. Until he’s too fat to fuck. Too fat to fuck Bucky specifically (and again- why is that hot? God, he’s so fucking weird! But… nothing matters when it inspires so much arousal in him and he can’t focus on anything but getting more of it. More of the intoxicating feeling of being at his fat Prince's mercy).

An air mattress? Guest bed? Sharing a room with one of his kids? All of the small children like to pile around SapNap, who is also a small child, cause he’s warm Punz also always has children flocking him ------------------------------- Punz is also that teen who throws the kids in the pool he cant go into the water himself, prefering to lay on the grass and in the sun, but he does love just chucking kids in ------------------------------- Phil drives a beat up mini van. sure we can figure something out.” Tommy also loses interest as soon as he gains it tho Tommy chitters at them They nod liek they understand and go “Uh huh, sounds mighty interesting Kit,” And then they pick him and let him climb around them -------------------------------- So much rough housing like SO much they're hybrids man Tommy also teethes ok. Chews on shit when his canines grow in so does Techno, and SapNap, and Punz (Punz and Techno's canines already grew in though, but they still chew on shit) The rams Rub their heads against stuff Head Itchy ------------------------------- A lot of Phil’s days off are just spent by the babies, just who are growing in hybrid traits He scratches Tubbo, sapnaps, and Puroled heads They’re all growing in horns Gives Tommy things to chew on Purpled. Just for some reason never really grew into his hybrid traits And purple eyes He gets so upset about it too, when Tubbos horns outgrow his, because he’s older He’s a bit different. But it’s like being brunette in a family of blondes. It’s not unheard of He just is tearing up and Phil is just like “oh Bud, come ‘ere” They're like 8 And Tommy just gives Purpled the biggest hug, because Tommy is a sweetheart as a kid ------------------- I think that even the older kids wrestle Like obviously Dream, Techno and the rest of the middle school gang do Because they’re so fucking competitive Dream is so quick to just. Grab someone and wrestle them to the floor No warning But like, you’ll catch Wilbur and Schlatt jumping at each other Or Wilbur throwing Fundy over his shoulder Or anyone just man handling gogy ------------------- Phil gets to a point where he calls them all his kids And asks where they are when they aren’t At his house ------------------------ Puffy bringing them (Dream and Purpled) over after school. They go outside and play. Puffy sighs and collapses at the dining table. Phil silently hands her a coffee. “I’ll keep em busy” he says “you get some homework done” She looks up, and puts her head in her hand, “Dream has basketball practice in an hour” Phil just pats  her on the back. “I got it.” ----------------- Also let’s talk about how much food Phil needs to buy Like even if it’s just lunch That’s like 15 growing boys He can afford it, He just has to watch out for allergies He buys so many fucking snacks man Whole damn store He goes through like crates of those little chip variety packs Tubbo only likes the crunchy Cheetos Tommy likes barbecue Niki likes salt and vinegar Punz likes Doritos He knows which ones they all like I’m just imagining Phil calling out for the kids And they’re like lining out of the kitchen Oldest to youngest so that Phil can help the little ones They can eat anywhere in the yard, but Ohil has the little ones eat at the picnic table They’re all dripping wet from coming out of the pool, and he needs to make sure they eat their fruit and popsicles, they have tons of popsicles. ------------------ Phil totally takes Dad tax Like a chip from every plate And a tatertot from each breakfast very dad of him to do ------------------- Not not Phil kissing each of their foreheads goodbye And “drive safe” And “have a good day" ------------------ He’ll still pick up Texhno And Dream and Punz, right by the armpits And tucks them into bed ----------------- Tommy when he gets wet He loves swimming but the poor baby: his fur It’s hard to get him in the water but once he’s in it’s hard to get him out Because he feels all heavy and sticky afterwards ------------------ Adventures in the woods TOMMY IN HID NATURAL HABITAT Small boy makes hidey hole You may be asking Does. Does Tommy crunch on the leaves He does Like on ever y single one Carefully -------------------- All of the little kids And even technos group Just bonk heads Because of the goats They all just do it Sometimes softly Sometimes roughly Techno always does it roughly tho Rough houser Dream doesn’t mind Makes it feel like he has a
herd Feeds a primal instinct for ram playmates Feeds a primal instinct for ram playmates - Small boy And puffy has outgrown it But a young piglin brute? Perfect playmate. ------------------------- AND THATS THE AU YOU'RE WELCOME

A final good bye and final log out
This is not a suicide not so no need to worry. Many of you that follow me probably barely remember my blog, it wasnt very big or fancy. I barely know how to code or make my blog look like anything but, that is neither here nor now. I wanted to say good bye I have a bad habit of leaving without saying anything and disappearing for weeks at a time. I guess abusive relationships will teach you that. I went silent on this blog around 3 years ago when I started college. But I wanted to talk about why I started this, the ending will be saved most obviously till the end. I started this blog in a way to find friends, in 2012 internet friends were all the rage and I wanted to be a part of that so I started a tumblr. But was not active on it till 2014. In high school I grew a bit of a following around sophomore year 2015. I would constantly rant on this account and people would watch but not say much. It bothered me a bit that I was never “Tumblr Famous” but I knew people who were, so I would live on through them. Tumblr a lot in high school, I was too afraid to do anything but I knew in the back of my mind that I would get there in my own time. Tumblr, in that sense was kind to me and never made me feel like I had to be pressured to do anything and would constantly educate me from maters of social justice and the Black Lives Matter movement, sex education, gender expression, sexuality, art and astrology. I saw all the drama and surprisingly enough stayed away from the super toxic side of tumblr pushing minors to do more and more and more.  It was safety net and whenever my parents would do what they do best I always had the arms of my blog to run and cry to. It made the darkest days a little brighter, people reblogging free movie sites and calming gifs were my saving grace when I was 14 and suicidal. As high school went on I found myself in a relationship and put all my time, money, effort, energy, my whole being into this one person who would end raping me an using my past against me. I was still active and would talk about him on here including our fights. But as the fights got more violent and heated, the less I would post about him and one day all together I stopped posting on here, for what I thought was for good. I wanted to reach out on tumblr and ask “is any of this normal?” “why do we fight so much?” “is it normal for your partner to make you feel this afraid?” “is it normal for them to talk about sex 24/7″ “is it normal to feel afraid and cry during sex?” I wanted to reach out so badly. I knew I couldn’t and it was a stupid reason why I couldn’t. I was afraid of the judgment, because no one here talks about the small intricacies of domestic violence and how it breaks down every part of you. So I went quiet, I stopped talking about him, stopped posting him and he never care. I was put on meds after he raped me, stopped sleeping and eating. After the meds failed to stop the development of PTSD I started smoking and drinking heavily. After all of that I stopped being on tumblr because things were not the same and stuff that made me happy before just stopped bringing me joy. I thought no one here would care about what I have to say and his words and actions confirmed that even more. Eventually I broke it off 8 months later and my friends never believed me that he was abusing me. Life is better now, I lived abroad, I have an apartment with a new boyfriend, hes nice we have our ups and downs but we came from a hard life so someone loving you is a hard thought to accept for both of us. We both have toxic cycles we need to break but he’s good and he’s teaching me to be kind. I would love to continue on this hellsite but I have other things now, bigger and better things. I am just simply a ghost now of a website where I used to poor out all of my traumas and for one last time I will do that. For any 16 year old who stumbles across this post please read through till the end (if you can) because I want to tell you things I wish someone told me at 16/ entered my first relationship.
Your bf, gf and/or partner should never do/say these things and other small warning signs of DV
1. if sex hurts a lot for you it is because you are not comfortable, communicate this and if they refuse to understand why leave
2. If your partner scares you so much to the point where you have a panic attack thinking about them, then leave
3. you will fall out of love in your first relationship, as shitty as it is, it’ll happen. It’s okay, you can leave. Just like you out grow clothes you will outgrow people.
4. let people leave, I know this is hard to accept but people will leave and the universe will have something in store for you
5. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE HAVING SEX AT 16 IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO I LOST MY VIRGINITY AT 19 IT IS NORMAL!
6. it is normal for you and your partner to have conversations about what to say when people constantly ask you if yall have done the deed it is not normal for your partner to tell you to lie and say you have (when you havent); leave if they do this trust me
7.If your partner is asking about sex 24/7 and its making you uncomfortable then say something, maybe they don’t mean any harm by it! but if once you’re done with the convo and it didn’t make you feel better you should leave
8. its okay to leave 1st relationships aren’t meant to last
9.something my mom said that made me feel better: just because you’re breaking up now doesn’t mean you’re breaking up forever
10. please don’t force yourself to have sex it’s a very toxic cycle. Easy to get into but hard to break out of
11. you can be alone, you don’t have to date all the time
12. if your partner's parent is bullying you tell your partner that it makes you uncomfortable talk to them about it. Now I understand parents are hard especially when your 16 and younger (hell parents @ 21 are still tough to deal with) and if your partner says “well I can’t tell them off because of xyz” then make a compromise on how to deal with the situation. If your 1st partner’s parents don’t like you it’s not the end of the world and if bugs you that much YOU CAN ALWAYS LEAVE
13. on the other hand if you tell your partner, they don’t take it seriously and they still beg you to visit their family then leave, you’re not married you’re young I will probably say this a thousand more times BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS LEAVE
14. YOU CAN ALWAYS LEAVE, YES IT WILL SUCK, YES YOU’LL CRY AT EVERYTHING BUT IT IS OKAY NOTHING IS PERMANENT AND THAT IS A GOOD THING
15. do not waste your first relationship on couples counseling ( yes I did that and he still owes me $250 for the session I was dumb & 17 don’t get mad @ me)
16. if your relationship makes you extremely angry leave, that anger means something, listen to it.
17. if you are like me and was raised in a very abusive household with parents that constantly abuse you just know that not every relationship is like that and you won’t be like them but, you have to actively work on it not just say it out loud (BUT it does help saying it out loud, v comforting)
18. if you break up, stay broken up (sometimes it works out for the better if they really want you they’ll try)
19. NEVER LET YOUR PARTNER’S MOM DICTATE WHERE YOU GO TO COLLEGE TRUST ME YOU WILL REGRET IT
20. if you are begging for the basics leave
21. if they ignore your food allergy leave
22. if they’re a mama’s boy please leave
23. if they ignore your fears leave
24. if they think violence is casual and necessary for relationships leave
25. listen to their ex’s even if you take it with a grain of salt please listen
26. if you need to come up with an escape plan you’re in a toxic and possibly abusive relationship
27. it’s okay if you don’t have the courage to leave right now but know, you can’t stay forever
28. if they use past trauma against you, leave.
also a word of advice for friends who know people who have been in DV situations
1. if we trauma dump just know we are sorry but please stop us and talk through it later (if you can)
2. don’t ask why they didn’t leave sooner it’s not your buisness
3. we don’t know we are being abused, if you know but we don’t please be patient. The mind is a tricky thing.
4. DO NOT SAY “how did you not know” “you’re stupid for not knowing” “you’re making it up” “told you so” or anything else condescending, we feel stupid and we just want support
well that’s all I have folks! Thank you tumblr for all the laughs and all the cringe.  I hope this post is insightful and please feel free to add on.
love <3

Seafood Allergy
Does your mouth water every time you see dishes made of shrimps, lobsters, or clams? Do you enjoy eating tuna, scallops, squid, or crabs? Most of us do. However, there are some people who don’t get the privilege of consuming seafood. This is because their bodies react to the allergen found in these foods. This allergic reaction is called a seafood allergy.
What is Seafood Allergy?
A seafood allergy is an abnormal response by the body’s immune system to proteins found in seafood. Normally, our immune system fights infections. However, when you have a seafood allergy, our body’s immune system overreacts to the proteins found in this seafood. Every time a person with a seafood allergy eats certain seafood, their body thinks that these proteins are harmful and attacks them, causing an allergic reaction to seafood.
The most common seafood allergy is shellfish allergy. It is one of the most dangerous food allergies, sending more food-allergic people to emergency rooms than any other allergy. It is important to note that the shellfish allergy is different from the fish allergy. People who are allergic to shellfish aren’t necessarily allergic to fish and vice versa. However, it is also possible that a person is allergic to both groups. Allergic reaction to shellfish ranges from mild symptoms such as stomach pain to life-threatening.
A seafood allergy can develop at any age. It is possible that you don’t develop a seafood allergy as a child, but find yourself allergic to them as you grow older. Although some people can outgrow some certain food allergies over time, those who have shellfish allergy have the allergy for the rest of their lives.

What is the Difference Between Seafood Allergy and Shellfish Allergy?
A shellfish allergy is not exactly the same as seafood allergy. Shellfish are type of seafood that have shell and called as crustaceans such as:
shrimp
lobster
crab
prawn
crayfish
There are also shellfish that are called as mollusks such as:
mussels
oysters
clams
snails
scallops
Shellfish fall into the category of seafood. Tuna, cod, salmon, trout, shark are called fish that also falls in the category of seafood. So there are 3 different types or categories of seafood. Some people are allergic to both groups but some are allergic only to one.
What Causes Seafood Allergy?
Seafood allergy is caused by an abnormal response of the body’s immune system to protein in certain marine animals. In seafood allergy, your immune system mistakenly identifies a certain protein in shellfish as harmful, triggering the production of antibodies to the protein (allergen). The next time you come in contact with the allergen, your immune system releases histamine and other chemicals that cause allergy symptoms.
Seafood Allergy Symptoms
Seafood allergy symptoms can develop within minutes after eating certain seafood.
Some of these symptoms may include:
Watery eyes
Wheezing
Abdominal pain
Trouble breathing
Lightheadedness
Dizziness
Nausea
Vomiting
Hoarse Throat
Swelling of the tongue
Pale or coloring of the skin
Hives
Diarrhea
Allergic reaction to shellfish can react differently at different times. People with mild allergy to shellfish will have a tendency to experience these mild shellfish allergy symptoms.
Stomach pain
Stuffy nose
Itching or Eczema
Fainting
Red spots
throat tightness
Congestion
Swelling of face, lips, throat and other parts of the body.
a drop in blood pressure causing loss of consciousness
If you are already experiencing some of these symptoms, immediately contact a doctor or an allergist for emergency treatment. Note that a seafood allergy can cause a severe allergic reaction called anaphylaxis. Even though it might start with a mild reaction, it can quickly get worse. If anaphylaxis is not immediately addressed, it can be dangerous and life-threatening.
Seafood Allergy Test
Allergy testing is the only way to make sure that the reaction you’re having is caused by an allergy or not. There are a number of ways to know if you really are allergic to seafood. Your doctor may ask about your symptoms and may perform a physical exam. A simple skin prick test can identify whether you have a seafood allergy or not. In this test, a small amount of allergen is placed on your skin which will then be pricked or scratch. If there is swelling on the area that was pricked, it means that you are allergic to that substance or allergen.
Another test your doctor may suggest is the blood test. During this test, blood is drawn and is tested for allergies. Blood testing is more costly than the other tests and the results take longer to receive.
Seafood Allergy Treatment
If you’re already diagnosed with a seafood allergy, make sure to avoid seafood. Make sure to check the labels of food products that you purchase. You should also be extra careful when you dine out, as waiters do not always know the ingredients of the dishes of the restaurant.
If you have a seafood allergy and have already experienced a severe allergic reaction, then your doctor will recommend that you carry an epinephrine auto-injector with you all the times in case of emergencies. Epinephrine should be used immediately if you experience a severe allergic reaction such as shortness of breath, coughing, tightness in the throat, and having a weak pulse.
It would also be a good idea if you will carry medications like over-the-counter (OTC) antihistamines and corticosteroids to treat mild allergy symptoms. It is good to remember that there is no substitute for epinephrine. This is the only medication that can treat life-threatening situations.
Frequently Asked Questions for  Seafood Allergy
Can You Develop a Seafood Allergy?
Answer: Yes, you can develop seafood allergy any time. Most food allergies begin in childhood, however, there is one allergy that stands out; the shellfish allergy. You may develop shellfish allergy any time but tends to develop in adulthood.
Can You Grow Out of a Seafood Allergy?
Answer: Food allergies are often considered allergies that may be outgrown but it depends on the specific food that causes the allergy. However, seafood allergies are NOT on the list of food allergies that are commonly outgrown. Those who have shellfish allergy have the allergy for the rest of their lives. In the meantime, researchers continue to focus on ways to other food and shellfish allergy treatment.
How to Test for Seafood Allergy?
Answer: You can test seafood allergy by a skin prick test or a blood test called radioallergosorbent (RAST). It measures the immune system’s response to shellfish. Allergy testing is the only sure way to know if the reaction you’re having is indeed a seafood allergy.
How to Tell if you are Allergic to Shellfish?
It would take some time for symptoms to be present after eating shellfish, but mostly it will develop after a few minutes. Symptoms may include:
Tingling in the mouth
Congestion
Skin reactions including itching or eczema
Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat or hands
Dizziness or fainting
How to Treat Shellfish Allergy?
Your doctor or allergist may instruct you to treat a mild reaction to shellfish with medications such as antihistamines to reduce signs and symptoms. But if you have a severe allergic reaction to shellfish, you’ll likely need an emergency injection of epinephrine.
Should you have a seafood allergy, make sure to speak to a doctor or an allergy clinic in College Station so that he or she can find a solution to your allergies.

A Guide to Gluten: Does Everybody Need To Go Gluten-Free?
A Guide to Gluten: Does Everybody Need To Go Gluten-Free?
📷
Gluten-free foods have recently become quite popular. Nowadays, you’ll find gluten-free breads, pastries, candies, and more at your local grocery store. Because of this you might be wondering whether gluten is good or bad for you.
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this: gluten can harm some people, but it seems to be totally fine for others.
In the health and wellness world, many influencers and companies claim that cutting out gluten will give you more energy, help you lose weight, and lift your mood. But in truth, your ideal diet depends on your body’s unique biology, which means that dietary requirements differ from one person to the next.
Here’s what you need to know about gluten, gluten intolerance, and celiac disease.
What is gluten?
Gluten refers to a group of proteins (prolamins) found in wheat, barley, and rye. These prolamins give these ingredients a glue-like consistency when mixed with water. This is why wheat flour is ideal for baking. It also helps bread rise and increases the shelf-life of baked goods and baking ingredients.
Gluten can be found in breads, pastas, and baked goods, but it can also be found in pre-made foods like soups and stews. Flour is often added to sweet treats and pre-made foods as a thickening agent, and added gluten can be used to improve the shelf-life of certain foods.
Gluten can also found in:
Brewer’s yeast
Malt
Beer
Certain candies
Certain chocolate drink mixes
Certain cereals and granolas
Sauces and dressings
Some meat substitutes
Gluten can also be found in places you wouldn’t expect, like in certain multivitamins and dietary supplements.
How does gluten harm the body?
As mentioned, gluten is an umbrella term that includes a number of different proteins. While some people can digest those proteins adequately, others can’t.
Proteins are typically broken down by the protease enzymes in your digestive tract. However, gluten proteins are resistant to these enzymes. These gluten proteins can cross over through the tissue in your digestive tract and into the rest of your body.
Your body’s immune system might attempt to fight these proteins. For some people, this immune response might make them sick. Those who have celiac disease – an autoimmune disease – could get severely sick if they eat gluten.
What is gluten intolerance?
“Gluten intolerance” is a broad term that refers to three health conditions: celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, and wheat allergies.
While the symptoms differ from one condition to the next, they all generally cause you to feel ill after you consume gluten.
What is celiac disease?
Celiac disease is an autoimmune condition that involves the inflammation of your small intestine.
When someone with celiac disease consumes gluten, their small intestine will be damaged. This can make it difficult for their body to absorb nutrients, which can lead to weight loss, diarrhea, and pain. People with celiac disease might also have anemia, osteoporosis, and skin diseases.
About 1 percent of the world’s population has celiac disease, although it’s far more common in certain countries, like Finland, Mexico, and some northern African regions. Research shows that, in these areas, celiac disease can affect about 2 to 5 percent of the population.
Celiac disease is usually diagnosed by intestinal biopsy. It could also be diagnosed by blood testing for antibodies. There is no way to treat celiac disease other than avoiding gluten entirely.
What is non-celiac gluten sensitivity?
Some people who don’t seem to have celiac disease or wheat allergies find that they have a negative reaction to eating gluten. This is called non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS).
If you have NCGS, you might find that gluten causes you to have symptoms like intestinal pain and diarrhea as well as fatigue, joint pain, and headaches.
To be diagnosed with NCGS, your doctor will first rule out a wheat allergy and celiac disease.
What is a wheat allergy?
Wheat allergies and celiac disease are often confused. They are two different conditions, and it’s possible to have both at the same time.
These allergies are particularly common in children, who might outgrow it. However, many adults have wheat allergies too. They might have uncomfortable symptoms when they eat or inhale wheat.
The symptoms of wheat allergies can include:
Nausea and vomiting
Nasal congestion
Hives or rashes on skin
Bloating
Anaphylaxis (a potentially fatal allergic reaction that causes difficulty breathing)
Symptoms vary from person to person. For some, it might look like mild nausea and a stuffy nose. In others, wheat exposure can be fatal.
To diagnose a wheat allergy, an allergist will usually test your blood or do a skin-prick test.
Autoimmune disorders and gluten
Celiac disease is one kind of autoimmune disease. Other common autoimmune diseases include:
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, which causes hypothyroidism
Psoriasis, a painful skin condition
Rheumatoid arthritis, where your joints become swollen and stiff
Lupus, which can affect the whole body
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), not to be confused with IBS
Type 1 diabetes
Multiple sclerosis
If you have an autoimmune disease of any kind, including those not listed here, your doctor might advise you to avoid gluten. Gluten seems to worsen the symptoms of autoimmune diseases, according to research. This might be because people with celiac disease are likely to have other autoimmune disorders. Some studies have found that people with autoimmune diseases benefit from a gluten-free diet.
So, if you have an autoimmune disease, you might want to eliminate gluten from your diet. Monitor your symptoms and see if they improve. As always, it’s wise to seek your doctor’s advice before making a major change in your diet.
Should everybody cut out gluten?
If you don’t have one of the above conditions, should you avoid gluten? That’s not 100% clear. Although some people claim that everybody should cut out gluten, there’s no evidence that shows it will benefit people without those conditions.
However, many people who don’t seem to have gluten intolerance feel better after they start avoiding gluten. This might not be because of gluten itself, but because of other factors. For example, going gluten-free might lead you to cut down on high-carbohydrate foods and processed foods. Eating these foods in excess can make you feel ill.
If you suspect you have gluten intolerance, you might find it helpful to temporarily cut out gluten and monitor how you feel. You can keep a notebook where you write down what you eat and what your symptoms are like.
How do I cut out gluten?
When you think about it, gluten is nearly everywhere. It’s in obvious places, like breads and pastas, but also in sauces, certain chocolate drinks, and candies.
Fortunately, since more people are aware of gluten sensitivities nowadays, it’s now easier to find gluten-free foods than ever. Gluten-free foods are often labeled as such. Remember that wheat-free is not the same as gluten-free – a wheat-free food can still contain gluten.
It’s important to read the labels of everything you eat. Read the ingredients list and avoid foods that contain:
Wheat
Barley
Rye
Malt
Oats (unless gluten-free oats)
Brewer’s yeast
Check the allergens list for gluten and any of the above ingredients.
Although many people confuse gluten with all grains, some grains don’t contain gluten. This includes corn, quinoa, teff, certain rices, sorghum, and millet. Gluten-free grains are often used to make gluten-free versions of bread, crackers, pastas, and more.
Thankfully, it’s now a little easier to find gluten-free alternatives to your favorite foods. Gluten-free oats, breads, and pastas are now far more common. You might even find gluten-free cakes, beers, and cookies that taste just as good as your favorite treats. Some bakeries and cafes are specifically gluten-free.
Eating out?
One of the most difficult aspects of having a gluten-free diet is navigating restaurants and pre-made food. Flour is often used as a thickening agent, for example. Even if a meal doesn’t contain any gluten itself, it might have come into contact with gluten during the preparation process. For some people, this alone can trigger an immune response.
Opt for gluten-free meal services, premade foods, and restaurants. Depending on your sensitivity level, you might get away with choosing a gluten-free option in a restaurant that uses gluten in other meals. Don’t be afraid to enquire with a company or business about whether or not they use gluten.
The Celiac Disease Foundation has helpful resources on eliminating gluten. They have lists of foods to avoid as well as meal plans, recipes, and tip sheets for gluten-free living. Although eliminating gluten can be difficult, it’s possible to still enjoy a variety of tasty, nutritious food.
Getting diagnosed with gluten intolerance
If you suspect that you’re gluten intolerant, you’ll probably want an official diagnosis.
Your first port-of-call is to go to your GP. They might order blood tests, or they will refer you to a dietician and/or allergist. Some people might struggle to get a diagnosis straight away, and they might have to see a few specialists to get to the bottom of their symptoms.
Gluten intolerance is often diagnosed by a blood test, skin-prick test, or biopsy. But as mentioned, your doctor or dietitian might also suggest you simply eliminate gluten from your diet and monitor your symptoms.
How we can help
Food allergy tests are the best way to figure out whether you have a food intolerance of any kind. However, they’re often extremely expensive. In a country where medical expenses are unaffordable for many, a great number of people might be sensitive to gluten without knowing it.
Discounted lab work is one of the many services we offer Knew Health Members. We include food allergy tests as well as fasting insulin tests and hormone checks. These tests help you identify any current or potential health issues. You’ll be equipped to make better decisions about your lifestyle and diet.
Gluten is a controversial topic in health and wellness circles. Some people believe everyone should cut out gluten entirely. But many people seem to be able to tolerate gluten well. If you suspect you have a gluten intolerance, whether it’s a wheat allergy or celiac disease, talk with your doctor about getting a diagnosis.

Cold and flu in children
Tumblr media
The monsoon and the changing weather heralds the onset of cough, cold symptoms in many children. If you have nasal congestion, a running nose, or you’re sneezing and coughing, your first thought maybe that you have a cold. These are also signs of allergies. A cold also called “the common cold” is caused by a virus (infections). Many different types of infections are competent for colds. The signs and symptoms may vary; colds generally share some of the same essential components.
Here are some key characteristics of the common cold:
Common Cold has transmitted through virus droplets that a sick person sheds when he coughs or sneezes.
A sore throat along with a running, stuffy nose.
More severe cold can also cause headache, fever and body aches.
Restoration from a cold is usually fast. The normal duration of a cold is 7 to 10 days.
If symptoms last more than a week or two, the virus may have contributed to a more severe virus, such as a sinus infection, pneumonia, or bronchitis.
People with allergies may be more prone to catching a cold.
Flu is a form of cold caused by the flu virus. The flu season generally starts around these months peaking in the winter months. Common symptoms include fever, headache, body pain, cough, cold, tummy upset etc. Flu is a common winter illness for a healthy adult, but for children at risk, it can become severe such as progressing to pneumonia with breathing difficulty, excessive vomiting leading to inadequate oral intake, dehydration and multi-organ involvement. Ex preterm babies are predisposed to severe chest infections for whom early testing and treatment is mandatory.
Specific ways to limit flu in the community are
The flu vaccine, especially to be administered to vulnerable people like small children, elderly, children with asthma, blood, kidney or heart problems in whom flu can become very severe
Contain spread from one person to another by using a face mask, using disposable tissues for secretions, hand sanitizers, not going to a public area like school, office during illness.
Taking adequate rest and plenty of fluids to recover fast along with antivirals prescribed by the doctor.
A child when suspected of flu undergoes specific tests to confirm the virus by doing a nasal swab and started on antivirals. The contacts of the child can be given vaccine within three days of exposure to prevent from developing the disease or given prophylactic antivirals for five days.
Allergies happen when your immune system has a conflicting reaction to some substances. When your body is exposed to an allergy trigger (allergen), your immune system discharges chemicals called histamines. This release of histamines is what causes allergy symptoms. Some of the common symptoms of allergies and colds are sneezing, sore throat, coughing, running nose, nasal congestion, watery eyes. Differentiating cold and allergies is essential as treatment differ, Colds are more likely to cause fatigue, aches and pains, sore throat a fever whereas Allergies are more likely to cause wheezing, itchy eyes, skin rashes, such as hives or eczema. The ‘allergic salute’ in children due to an itchy nose, which they usually rub with an upward hand movement that looks like a salute.
Common allergy triggers can include:
Mould
Animal dander or saliva, such as from a cat or dog
Dust mites
Foods including tree nuts, peanuts, milk, and eggs
Seasonal allergens such as a tree, grass, and weed pollen
If your child has a frequent cough, cold especially in the cold season or cough/breathing difficulty after certain food substances, the primary cause is an allergy of your airways called hyperactive airway disease.
Some general measures to reduce allergies are
To keep your house dust and clutter-free, cleaning should be done when the child is not there, wet mopping to reduce dust particles, cleaning the window panes weekly, a periodic dusting of the carpet, curtains, woollen garments in the sun
No indoor smoke as in cigarette smoking or kitchen smoke, which should be controlled by having good exhaust/ chimney in the kitchen.
Pest control, as cockroach eggs, is known to be allergic.
Avoid exposure to cold air, construction dust etc.
Avoid foods like fried items, sweets, cold drinks or any particular food your child is allergic to.
Moderate exercise, yoga- pranayama (breathing exercises), and eating healthy food like fruits and vegetables reduce allergies and keep you fit in the long run.
If frequent allergies meet your doctor for anti-allergic medications.
Tumblr media
There are various medications available to treat allergy based on severity and frequency of symptoms. Seasonal allergies are treated with medications only during a particular period. Medications include anti-allergy pills in the bedtime to nasal sprays for cold. Allergic wheezing is found commonly in Bangalore due to the cold weather, pollution and pollen. All childhood wheezing kids don't become asthmatics when they grow up, a majority of children with wheezing outgrow the ailment after six years. The mainstay of treatment for allergic wheezing kids is using inhaled steroids with a device called spacer. There are myths regarding its side effects and addiction. The dose of the medications used is minimal and goes into the lungs with no side effects on the rest of the body.
Pneumonia is the infection of lungs, commonly caused by bacteria and viruses. Less common types of pneumonia can be caused by fungi, chemical consumption like kerosene, paint thinner etc. It’s a severe illness which is presented by high fever, fast breathing, poor appetite, vomiting and lethargy. The infection is more severe in young children who can have complications like cessation of breathing, fits and blood infection. Some of the pneumonia-causing germs can be prevented by vaccines like the pneumococcal vaccine, which should be given to children less than two years old and in older children who are predisposed to infections.
Some of the other infections which can present as cough, cold and fever are ear infections and sinus infections. Ear infections present with ear pain or irritability and constant crying in a small child and should be suspected when such symptoms are associated with fever. Ear infections are more severe and frequent in young children <2 years, non-breast fed babies, bottle-fed babies. Sinusitis is suspected in an older child with fever and persistent cough and nasal discharge. Sinuses are air-filled spaces in the facial bones which drain into the nose, these infections are treated with prolonged antibiotics and may need a consultation with ENT specialist.
