Meet Videns; one of the most feared Draconic Deities

just some snippets of Videns's chaos antics that I couldn't think of full short stories for

"w..what are you doing, Videns?" Blaze asks, watching Videns inspect a small rock while sitting on the table in the lab. She's learned by now not to leave Videns unsupervised in the science room.

"Science!" Videns almost-whispers, smiling widely as she tosses the rock into the bucket of water on the ground beside her.

Blaze jumps back when it starts to spark and pop, catching fire, "WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!?"

"sodium metal," Videns replies, tilting her head and giving a closed eye smile, "it's highly reactive with water."

Cobra frowns while watching the energetic teen dart around the lab. 'This is the Guide of the Vengeful, the most dangerous Salhan Deity...?'

"What are... you doing... anyway?" Cobra decides to ask, cautious.

"got bored, tryna learn more about the acid you guys have. Salhan Draconics have mildly poisonous blood because of how we process Salha's poison, you guys are naturally scavengers and have an acid in your saliva that helps you eat basically anything that used to be alive. Fascinating, isn't it?" the teen replies, speaking quickly, before finally looking at Cobra directly. She's smiling widely, like always, and holds a metal cup out for Cobra, "hey, your family has venom in your fangs too, right? Can you do me a favor and gimme some venom? I wanna see how it interacts with things."

"w-wha-"

"Venomize the cup, Cobra," They cut off Cobra, smiling brightly.

"Where are you leading me...?" Pandora asks, following Videns down the worn path, looking at the flora around them. None of the plants were familiar to her. She sees a beautiful star-shaped flower, and reaches up to gently touch one of the petals.

"The Celestial Pantheon. Oh, by the way, if you see a star-shaped flower with sky blue-to-periwinkle petals, don't touch it, it'll kill you," Videns says with a cheerful smile. They smile even wider when they hear Pandora shriek in fear and jump back.

"Kidding, kidding, it's actually suprisingly harmless," Videns laughs, waving her hand dismissively without looking back at the human, before she points up to a blood red bell-shaped flower, "That one will kill you very painfully, though."

Ignis sat at the dining table, stirring her cup of tea, while glaring at the icy eyed hybrid across the table.

"Stop sm-"

"No," Videns smiles wider, propping her cheek on her palm, watching Ignis.

"Don't-"

"Can't control my mind reading," Videns shrugs, lying through her teeth. She could very much control it, she just preferred to know what everyone's thinking.

"At lea-"

"I already know what you're trying to say, why let you finish speaking when I can just reply?" Videns gives a closed eye smile, knowing how much she's pissing off Ignis with her interrupting.

"I h-"

"I hate you too, Iggy~"

At this point, Ignis throws her spoon at Videns, standing up and storming out of the room. Videns just waves bye, leaning to the side to avoid getting hit in the face with a hot spoon.

"How do you get Videns to calm down..?" Blaze asks Vizerxa, frowning as she watches Videns annoy Dawn Shadow.

"Quite easily, actually," Vizerxa replies calmly, looking around. She walks away, soon returning with a candle and a lighter. She doesn't even need to say anything for Videns to dart away from Dawn Shadow, getting a sheet of paper and jog over to Vizerxa, who lights the candle and sets it on the table.

"just give her fire, trust me," Vizerxa shrugs, watching Videns tear off small pieces of the paper and drop them into the candle flame, giggling as they catch fire.

"...I feel like that's actually very risky," Blaze murmurs, frowning slightly in concern.

Vizerxa shrugs, "you're the one that adopted someone who loves fire, while living in a very flammable place. Thought Dusk repeatedly burning the kitchen would get you to change the materials of your living space, but apparently that didn't work."

Most of my hinata headcanons are based on the fact that most people write him pretty shallowly- as nothing more than his height and love of volleyball, his need to fly, and the fact he's friendly. The really well written stuff writes him well, as a kind of enigma, but even then, one of his main traits is: Oh, he's pure sunshine!! His eyes shone with pride and determination, a hunger to win; to fly, etc, etc. Right? With most ships, it's just about how beautiful he looks in the sunset/sunrise with his hair and eyes. My point is that he's mischaracterized without really being mischaracterized because it's all *true*. he is absolutely gorgeous, and he does have a hunger to win and fly, and volleyball is his entire world, but there's sooooo much more still.

Normally, I hc him according to canon; according to scenes from the manga/anime, and then further analyzing it, yk? But I *truly* think hinata shoyo would be a good liar and hard to read.

It's already somewhat canon that people find him confusing, in the fact that he's a people pleaser and switches up really quickly to make people happy. He'll say something, and then someone will disagree, and he'll immediately switch up so that person won't dislike him for his different opinion, ykwim?

And then people never know what he's thinking, either. He's completely oblivious to his own feelings but is hyper aware of other people's feelings. He doesn't notice when he's running a fever of 102° but notices that someone has 2/5 symptoms of the flu 💀💀 like my guy can remember suuuuper specific details about a person's life, like the day their great aunt's cat died, but forgets his own bday.

He's actually really smart, but he's failing all his classes bc he can't focus. I think he'd be really good at math, but really only with like decimals and uhh money math, like he's good at calculating tax and saving money, but that's bc he grew up especially poor and had to be cautious with money. He'd probably be better with Japanese literature than English literature bc obvi that's his native language, and I think he'd really like linguistics post Brazil.

But, he also has his signature death stare, and I kinda came up with a hc based off it; since we all agree he has adhd, a part of it is zoning out, and i think he'll sit hunched over like L and just do his little death stare out to nothing or nowhere in particular, or will sit on his bed zoned out doing the death stare out towards the door, with the lights off, and someone will walk in and scream. He just randomly hunches over like L sometimes, and daichi will tell him that it's bad for his back, and he'll say, "But it's comfy :(" actually I think I'm just writing autistic hinata rn oopsies it's ok tho we love autism hcs here!!

Since he's really small (probably underweight actually), he can fit into really small spaces, and he thinks they're comfy (me guys). But at the same time, he loves big fields and gyms bc he likes to run around. Basically, he says and does really conflicting things, and it confuses people, which is another reason he was bullied in middle school.

He started doing the death stare as a defense mechanism in middle school actually, bc older, taller kids tried to use that to their advantage and bully him, but glaring at them weird made them walk away. Also, contrary to popular belief, I hc he can fight. So many people have just decided he's, like, too weak to fight or smth?? Like they think he can't defend himself physically, which I personally think he could, but yk, anxiety, so he doesn't. Like my guy is an athlete, have you seen him?? He may be small, but if he wasn't frozen in fear and anxiety, he could beat someone's ass!!

I said before I actually do think he could lie, bc one again, he's a people pleaser, and I feel like once when he was a kid, a family friend or someone or like when he was at a friend's house, they made dinner and he didn't like it, so he lied about liking it, but the person knew he lied and called him out on it and he cried bc he lied abt liking it and lying is bad, but also telling them he didn't like the food is rude, which is also bad. So then he decided he'd learn how to lie. Also, ik he uses his height and baby face to his advantage!! ***Depending on the person*** he can get away with just about anything bc "🥺🥺🥺" and then when everybody else calls him out for it he's like "L fuck you hehehe 😜💪💪" Like he drew a 🍆 pp on the wall or something once and then blamed it on kageyama and the teacher believed him.

And even though he's a people pleaser, he's managed to find peace in playing pranks and being mean, in a normal teenager way ofc, because suga helped him come out of his shell (suga purely bc he is mischievous but still responsible and nice)(and then suga asks Asahi why he can't be like hinata bc Asahi can barely even write with pencil on a desk, let alone sharpie anything so 'vulgar' on school property (it's not *just* because he's scared bc it's vulgar it's also bc he doesn't think those kinds of jokes are funny, and simply doesn't understand why writing on school property is fun (that's how I feel, idk 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️) ))

BTW, guys, half of these are to spite my friend who calls hinata a "bean 🥺" even though she's not on Tumblr. Also, I think I'm gonna start organizing these kinds of posts so they're easier to read, haha. Does anyone want any character specific hc posts since I always do hinata?

Hi Luna!! Writing updates? Life updates? It's been a while since we heard from you, is this blog still active?

Hi! I'd love to write again, I'm just struggling to find things that capture my interest for it that I think you guys would also like to see. It's a delicate line between writing for myself and writing for others' enjoyment, and I've kind of burned out on writing for Pentagon, just like I burned out on writing for Seventeen, most likely because I hyper-fixated on them so intensely for such a long period of time. I can't think of anything to write for them that I haven't already done - and I can only do so much with requests that are like "so-and-so and thigh riding" when I've already written that once or twice or more. If there were newer prompts, then I might be able to find some inspiration there. There are some more popular groups I'd like to try writing like Stray Kids, or older groups like specific members of Super Junior or Shinee, but the latter doesn't seem popular on here and the former didn't get any interest when I brought it up before. I want to find something I both would like to do and that you guys would like to see as well.

I've been having a really tough time lately, both with mental and physical health and college [I'm enrolled in two right now] so I've kind of ended up reverting back to comfort singers of mine, which are a lot of 2nd gen idols. Eunhyuk, Minho, Donghae, Hanhae, Tei, Key, etc, and I haven't really said anything about them on here bcs I know no one really cares about them when it comes to fics on Tumblr, and even less when they're written as sub. I did have a thing I wrote that I was going to post on here, but I had a mental breakdown shortly after finishing it and ended up deleting it entirely lol. @funkywinkyboy got to experience what the mental breakdown was like, it wasn't pretty.

- I don't think I have a ritual. Ritual is something you repeat right? Well, I have a random burst of writing energy between 11pm and 3am. That's the cursed part. I absolutely demolish my sleeping schedule.

- a piece of writing 100% haunted me but you could put my hand into a fire rn and I won't tell you a quote

- and my own writing haunted me too. There are two quotes that just live rent-free in my head, you know which one I'm talking about

["take care of the world for me." & "when you look over your shoulder, what do you see? do I haunt you? to haunt. what a terrible word for missing someone."

- what does it mean for me? that no matter how loud my impostor syndrome can get, those pieces of my writing are undeniable proof I have it in me and it's GOOD.

13. What is a subject matter that is incredibly difficult for you to write about? What is easy?

- hard is good family dynamics, or in general writing nice/comfortable scenes [my other friend once said: you can't write about what you never experience and frankly I was speechless]

- I also can't write about romantic/sexual relationships. thas is just beyond my skills and appetite tbh

- easy is a tragedy [wink] and just pure unleashed angst

THANK you for the kind words, hearing that my art is recognisable means a lot to me, especially be l've always struggled with my art and I change my art style all the time.

I have a few things in the works, more Sunday and Robin stuff is coming, as well as a Shadow Milk Cookie from Cookie Run fanart. Besides that, I have my personal work, a comic on Tapas (Fire and Silk) and another comic I have to finish for my thesis. Ah, I also want to write more on ao3.

To start, I go by all pronouns but I prefer she/her since I'm closeted. You can say I'm a straight ally or toric and it'll still be right, I suppose. I was born female. I like to be called questionable names such as Grass, Broskeet, etc in replace of my real name (believe it or not, people mispronounce my name to Elsie when they read it.) But I go by Lee now as an official name to replace my dead name, but I'm still closeted so only certain friends call me Lee.

I have long black/dark brown hair that's flat on top and gets really waves at the bottom, making it really poofy. I have green eyes that turn blue sometimes, and othertimes combine. I love my eyes so much tbh; sometimes one eye would be green and the other blue but it's very rare. I'm 5'2 and 130 so I'm slightly chubby but overall have an okay figure. I'm C-cup but I have like no fkn hips since I take after my dad lmao. Well, I have some but they doesn't move very much.

I'm a pretty neutrally opinionated person if that makes since. Oh, you like [unfavorable political party]? That's great, but just don't push that on to me. Oh, your friend likes [favorable political party]? Spectacular, but don't get me involved. Pretty much like that. Even if I like something, I ain't gonna act on it knowing it could be bad also. I don't have grudges or feelings of hate towards anyone really aside my sister, and it's a long story as to why.

Despite how neutral I can be, I can be one of three things: hella hyper and stupid, anxious and irritable, or tired and easily compelled to be either personality. Whenever I'm hyper, I go overtop if I'm playing a game and often times can make people laugh, but I also get too caught up in that to realize if I'm about to do something stupid. Since I was 3, I was known to be anxious and irritable a hell of a lot whenever; it would just happen randomly, even in the midst of having a good time. Whenever I'm tired, I usually try to sleep but get pulled into being hyper or anxious at some point.

I want to say I have ADHD but since I was never diagnosed, I can't say that it's a true statement. I was supposed to be tested when I was young but it never came. I pretty much struggle to pay attention and remember things, and often times talk too much. Anyway, one of the most notable features of mine is how I try to get people to laugh. It's one of my favorite things to do, especially with my close family.

I have two sisters, two half sisters, and a half brother. Only my half siblings I really get along; one of full sisters hated me as I hated her since forever, and the other other sister is a toddler who'd rather be by herself. My younger half sister and I get along great, but me and my cousin are so close. I'm not exactly family oriented but my cousin is hella important to me. I try to be loyal no matter what with people I care for, and these are good examples of those people. And friends too; I don't have many of them, but I would protect them at all costs even though I probably couldn't do much lmao.

I guess, on to hobbies? I love to draw, write, and read for basics. I've been neglecting how often I write though, I read so much everyday. The Outsiders and The Hunchback of Notre Dame (original) are my favorites, and so many lovable fanfictions too lmao. I draw semi-realistic but always manage to make a cartoon-anime combination on accident. Also, I collect alpaca stuffed animals. No reason other than I need to make a movement on the alpaca market that these creatures are so unfathomably perfect is all ways. I give them all stupid names like Karrot With A K, Kangaroo, MoshPit (it's a rainbow alpaca), etc. They also have backstories~~

I also try to go along with what other people like. Whether in an NSFW setting or not, I can be hella submissive and just go along with what other people want. I don't like like gey my preferences out there very much but I will speak up if someone's being disrespected in some way. I don't put up with that shit.

I love Mexican styled music and dances! My cousin had a Quinceanera that I got to be her Doma in, meaning I got to be part of a dance crew with her and got to give speeches. If you're unfamiliar with a Quence, it's basically a 15th birthday party for girls that's as big as a wedding, and a Doma is like a bride's maid. El Tao, Tao, and Soltera (Remix) are my gavorite lmao.

I love some 80s rock early 2000s rock/metal though. I love Japanese music too, and know the full lyrics to a fee Japanese songs. When I had a vrinfy weebo phase, I started "learning" Japanese but then got serious with it, and now I continue to learn it. I want to learn Spanish too since I clearly have Mexican in my family.

I like to wear all kinds of clothes. I like poofy, short dresses that twirls, Hot Topic styled skirts eith suspenders and chains, plaid pants and shirts, any shirt without sleeves, and a few signature red hoodies. I go for all looks really. But damn, I've recently been in love with skirts.

Since I'm only really writing about Peter rn you get a headcanon detail about him: Personally, I think he's a guy who can't handle straight black coffee, but he has a fuckin complex about letting people know that. So he keeps sugar packets on him whenever he gets coffee and will very discreetly try to put them in without anyone noticing.

30. Talk to me about the role dreams play in your writing life. Have you ever used material from your dreams in your writing? Have you ever written in a dream? Did you remember it when you woke up?

Dreams play absolutely no role in my writing process. All of my dreams are hyper personal ones usually involving processing old trauma or shit about my family that I never talk to anymore so I don't like to dwell on them often if I don't have to. I've had a few fictional dreams but they're very disconnected and usually just a character cameo rather than a full narrative.

38. What is something about your writing process YOU think is Really Weird? If you are comfortable, please share. If you’re not comfortable, what do you think cats say about us?'

I don't think it's Weird per say but like. I find that I have a harder time forming a cohesive narrative for my stories if I don't have a song or two that I heavily associate with the story I'm trying to write and that I'll loop in the background for Hours while thinking about the writing itself. That's a very specific part of my process and always has been tbh, usually why my stories are named after song lyrics as well.

Of course! Side note: it's actually really fun and I highly recommend it just because not only are you at the whims of the dice, but fight scenes are a lot more tense as well because you are the whims of the dice.

So for my example, I'm writing a Fantasy High OC fan fiction cause that's my main hyper fixation rn next to Exu: Calamity:

I went to DndBeyond and created a character sheet for my oc and started her at the same level as everyone else. For the role-play episodes I just follow the plot beats and make the checks that would be needed (i.e. my character meets Biz, I roll insight, and whatever the roll is I end up incorporating that into their thoughts for the chapter) and following any checks that Brennan made the entire party roll.

For battle episodes, it's slightly harder because I have to look up every single enemy and their stats and figure out where my character would be in initiative order, but it's a lot of fun.

I roll initiative, try and figure out where the character would be and then make attacks, actions, bonus actions, and stuff that my character would make. Sometimes they're amazing and sometimes they're Nat ones. I also roll for the enemy's turn when I can (cause sometimes I can't find the exact enemy and have to guess) and jot down the proper damage for each round. So I have one giant note in my notes app that looks like this:

But for each episode and each round. It makes watching battle episodes a lot more fun for me personally (because I'm a huge fan of the role playing aspect more than the battle aspect).

It's really improved how I think about writing and how I think about characters overall and I honestly might try this idea out more often because it's scratched a part of my brain that hasn't been scratched before but I love.

hi!!! i think i recognize ur username from my old blog, but i can't be sure! after hearing your schedule, i hope you're doing well too! here are some things i've had to find out (usually the hard way) about avoiding burnout (+lots of tips of how i personally try to get over bad procrastination habits)

(fair warning: it's 12:23 am where im at rn and i took a tiny break to answer this, so if i seem all over the place, sorry!!!)

(edit: SO SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY. i've been a very busy bee over the past couple of days BAHAHA)

break down your to do list! imagine you open up your planner or your checklist and you see so many assignments and due dates screaming at you. that sounds pretty stressful, right? what i personally like to do is just compartmentalize my tasks/break down my overall schedule or day into tiny, very do-able, less frightening bits and pieces. for some odd reason, my brain thinks breaking up one big assignment into various easy to do tasks makes it seem more manageable. it doesn't really help for quizzes, but for projects or some essays, here's what i would do:

i hope it makes some slight sense! for me, rather than viewing it as "omg i have a big ass essay to complete", it's much more manageable to think to myself "ok, let me just work on the intro first." in my silly little head, if i can just do the intro and get started/get one task done, then it's easier for me to get into a good groove. im feeling productive and happy with myself because yay, i finished a task! ALSO, im sure you already know this, but i highly, highly recommend you outline every essay and plan out your projects/presentations before you start jumping in. no matter how bare bones the outline seems, even merely jotting down a vague idea or a tiny note will help you establish a good enough starting point/provide you with something to go off of is incredibly beneficial. i cannot stress that enough.

the best way to not fall behind is to always try to stay ahead (don't procrastinate!!!) this is easier said than done. it also depends on your sense of urgency, haha. for many people, if it's not due today, then it can be saved for a later date. for my schedule, for example, i don't necessarily have that luxury. i could save my assignments til the day they're due or even the day before they are due, but that would cause an unnecessary amount of stress onto me because every single business prof at my university is notorious for making their stuff due on sundays. (i'll actually be posting my outlook calendar/planner pretty soon to explain my planning system!)

one trick that i don't necessarily recommend because it might end up tripping you up (which is the last thing i want to happen) is to just write in your planner or calendar that something is due a day or two before it actually is. for example, saying that your essay is due on the 25th when in all actuality, it's due on the 27th. either you'll end up getting your due dates screwed up or you'll just think to yourself "nah i know im playing mind games with myself, it's not actually due til later" so then there's no sense of urgency.

another trick is to remember that there is still some urgency even if something isn't necessarily due until later. judging from your schedule, you've got quite a bit on your plate as well. i don't want to send you into a panic, but the more you put off or refuse to work on something, the less time you'll have in the future to actually work on it. "i can do this tomorrow", "i'll do it in a couple hours", "i can come back to this later". chances are, if you're saying this, you need to remind yourself that you've most likely already used that excuse yesterday or the day before. if you feel like you can handle it mentally and physically (e.g. not tired), i would recommend that if you catch yourself making that statement, immediately spend a minimum of 20 mins working on the very task you were trying to avoid. and i mean actively working on it, not just opening your laptop and doing the absolute bare minimum. you'll probably hate it, you'll probably think that you can't wait for the 20 mins to be over, but if you actually do substantial work during that time, there's a little less burden and less stress for the future you. do future you a favor and at least work a little bit. also, after the 20 mins are up, consider this: is your workload at least somewhat lighter? you did something productive, so pat yourself on the back — you deserve a reward. also, you already did a little work now... why not spend another 10 mins on it?

look at how you're spending your time. goes a bit with the last bullet point. try to track the amount of time you do productive work (things you have to do, such as chores, at your job, studying, working on your assignments) versus recreational activities (watching tv, even reading a book for fun, social media). im not saying your life has to be centered all around work; i'd be a hypocrite to say that. im just saying that if you don't work now, you'll be working harder in the future to try to pick up the slack.

this isn't meant to guilt trip you or anything like that, but seriously monitor your time. i like to go on google and use the stopwatch there to track the amount of time i'm actually studying and working on the things i need to. then in my planner, i write how many hours i spent that week "being productive". there are 168 hours in a week — 10% of that is 16.8 or roughly 17 hours. 17 hours of studying seems so boring, but in the grand scheme of things, you can spend literally 90% of your time doing anything else. imagine that: studying 17 hrs a week is only 2 1/2 hrs a day. you could watch a movie or two episodes of a show in that time span, easily. or, you could use that time to actually make a dent in your to-do list. it's important to remember that you are the person in charge of how you spend your time. i'm not trying to sound unsympathetic, because people have a lot on their plates between work or taking care of someone else, so you might not have a straight 2 1/2 hours to dedicate to studying. but chances are, there's going to be a time where you can choose freely what you want to do: something fun or an assignment. if you're reaching a point where the due dates are coming closer, i would say make an attempt to choose the assignment.

reward system! first off, please don't take this as a sign to deprive yourself of essentials. a reward is something you don't really need but really want. don't say "im not going to shower until this essay is done". that's not what im recommending at all!!

if you're like me, you might like shopping. or, you might like a specific candy or snack (please also do not use "i can't eat dinner til i finish this" as a method to force yourself to finish your work!!). maybe you have a favorite tv show that comes out with a new episode every sunday (cough, me with euphoria at the moment). here's the thing: why are you indulging in nonessential items + activities whenever you currently have a list of shit to do? "i'll work on my essay after i finish watching this episode!" im sorry, do people get paid before or after they started working their shifts? because if you give yourself the reward with no work, what is motivating you to complete the work?

use this method sparingly and responsibly!

think big picture!!! i have two whiteboards in my room, both of them hanging right by my desk. the first one, im able to stare at straight ahead of me. it's a message i wrote before my superday that congratulated me on getting the internship at the BB bank i wanted to be at so badly. i wrote this before i even knew i got accepted. after that happened, i added a footnote to it; it's me congratulating myself on securing a full-time offer. it sounds obsessive, but my custom safari homepage is a thumbnail of the bank i'll specifically be at with a quote.

the point of that paragraph is to emphasize that i've purposely surrounded myself with words of encouragement/congratulations and images of where i want to be in the future. i can't avoid it. when im at my desk, thinking i want to put off doing this assignment because it's boring or because im apparently too "tired" for it (yet i can easily get into bed and scroll mindlessly on tiktok for an hour), i can look up at my board or even open up a new tab and see specifically what all this work is for. i'm certain you have big goals of your own, or even small, short-term ones.

let those be both a reminder and a motivator for you when it comes to you asking why should you even bother with these assignments.

find meaning in the work you're doing. i actually enjoy a decent portion of my coursework, even the ones not directly related to my major. always keep an open mind with all your classes; if it's required, chances are there's something about it that can be relevant to improving your overall quality of life or even just helping you develop as a person and give you a new perspective in certain topics.

it's easier to do things and justify doing them whenever they stop being "this lame essay i have to write" and is instead something you consider an opportunity to research something that you've never really knew anything about. even if you hate it, take some time and effort to really get to study the material you're "forced" to work with or learn about. you never know when you may need it; maybe an interviewer in your future has some interest in a niche topic you had to write a paper about.

take breaks!! i sound and seem like a workaholic, i bet. truth be told, im not. some days are going to be a lot harder than others.

it's okay to take a break. it's okay to not follow any of that advice whenever you feel like absolute shit. the fact of the matter is if you're not taking proper care of yourself, you're not going to be taking proper care in the actions you do. as far as schooling goes, anything is better than a zero. in the working world, putting out terrible, half-assed work is bound to get you fired or at least looked down upon.

it's very easy to say "always give everything 110%!!!". absolutely no one is surprised whenever it's hard to give 50% on the really bad days.

know your limits! let me start (what i think to be the most important piece of advice when it comes to avoiding burnout) that i myself had to be told by my prof (bless his heart, he still gets anxious over my schedule more than i do HAHA) and that is “we only have 24 hours in a day; most of us need 30, and we spend several sleeping. it’s hard to be successful if you don’t allow yourself the time to try.”

the fact of the matter is that i work my regular job 3x a week, i currently have a spring internship that i spend the other 3 days a week at, went over the allowed # of college courses someone gets to take (+ these are all upper level courses) and i have family obligations & the need to relax and spend time on myself. it gets difficult (this week proof of that) to juggle all these responsibilities and spend a sufficient amount of time to appropriately apply myself to each task i do. for me, though, im a firm believer in competing with myself. the me from laster semester was already struggling with less responsibilities but i am constantly wanting to be better. i know that for me, it’s a very “do-or-die” situation. i refuse to fail any class, i refuse to get less than what ii expect from myself, i refuse to allow myself to fall behind, and i don’t want to tap out — i want it all; i can’t fathom not doing all of this or having to drop my job or the internship or a class. i know myself & i know that i’ll manage to handle all of this. however, don’t be unrealistic with yourself. set a standard. know that some days you will not want to work at all & that’s okay, but know that it’s equally important to go the extra mile on the days that you are able to work hard. don’t make an impossible schedule that you KNOW will be too overwhelming. don’t put unnecessary strain on yourself if you know you’re prone to burning out. 

it’s better to do only a couple of things, take a couple of classes, etc. if you’re able to apply yourself fully and truly succeed in whatever you do rather than take on a million things and be mediocre or struggle to stay afloat.
