I think the one thing that makes me sad about Candela Obscura is the fact that it's not in a longer format.

Like yes, If CR is supposedly the chunky fantasy novels, then Candela is suppose to be the quick and easy horror novellas. If people are not willing to dive deep into CR, then they can easy chew on Candela. And I get that they compensate for the few episodes by having them be over 5 hours an episode.

CR really saw how well Calamity worked as a short arc/campaign, and so naturally they'd want to replicate that in other work. But what made Calamity work was the fact that we knew the world so well, and knew the intricacies of the magic system and backstory that having such a short time to get to know characters was possible because the time and place made it so!

however, the world of Candela is still so new and untapped, so we dont exactly have a complete map of who inhabits where, and what happens when.

like, the concept of Historical Lovecraftian Fantasy is amazing, and indeed you could probably do so much with it if you just had more episodes. I'm not saying that it needs to be 100 + episodes, but like 5-8 would be ideal. Enough time for characters to develop arcs and relationships and helps cut down on the intense need to speed run through levels. The characters are all super cool, and I'm always a sucker for delving into really complex topics by POC in an historical setting. It's scary as hell, and has a fantasic atmosphere.

I've been so worried for WEEKS now ... honestly I'm desperate to know what's happening with Imogen and Co after Matt pulled THAT CLIFFHANGER but ... yeah, part of me REALLY needs to finally know if the others are okay too ...

Orym pulls a Bait and Switch with him and goes on the attack! Miss ... boo! Then HIT! Nice ... Action Surge! Yes!

Wither and Bloom! Yesssssss ... Laudna trashes the remaining creatures and gives the hit dice back to Orym! Cool ...

Yes! Dwarves have poison resistance! Sweet! Deni$e swings and hits HARD!!! Added sneaky attack for the win! Sweet! And then she trips the fucker up with her whip! Nice ...

Ashton hits it while it's down! 12 damage on the first hit, 15 on the second ... and he knocks it away into the cart too ... oh yeah, the cart is TRASHED!!! Oops ...

I love the cinematic cuts that Spenser narrate. It gives his DMing a lot of character and personality, and the establishing shots are great to better understand the locations (something I struggled a bit with Matt's narration in Candela Obscura, at least before I found out there was an official map)
