because of my skin condition I have to semi-regularly oil up my toes before bed but unfortunately this means I get gunk all over my hands and it is NOT possible to sleep that way so I have to make the perilous hand-washing trip to the bathroom on my heels because the balls of my feet are now trying to Kill me looney tunes style

Made some minor upgrades to Ronin's enclosure today and I'm really happy with how it turned out!

He loves climbing so I added even more climbing stuff for him. Added some fake succulents just because I think they make it look fun, honestly more for my enjoyment than his.

The fox is there because he loves it and always lies on it after stressful experiences like going to the vet or having his teeth swabbed. I left the fake ferns even though they make the fake biome aesthetic chaotically ecclectic, because he likes to hide behind them.

Also swung by the pet store to get some supplies for the baby uro because I am excitedly nesting like an expectant parent. The two hides are hand-me-downs from Henry and Ronin (will be thoroughly sanitized); the wood and fake cacti are new. Now I just need to get tiles for the floor, some stackable rocks for climbing, and a dig box.

today was real bad! well the morning was bad and the rest of the day was rendered unpleasant by a bruised tailbone. pharmacies are a functional institution that deliver your mail-ordered medication within the time frame the website says. i even got to scrub blood out of my bedroom carpet. still better than the time i was in a dorm bathroom and repeatedly faceplanted directly into the sharp-textured wall though. don't have epilepsy kids

#i didn't have a scratch on my leg when i woke up but i sure did when i woke up again a little later #wasn't really that bad a scratch but i guess even a shallow wound pressed against a carpet when fresh for like ten minutes leaves a stain #there was a little bit on the nearby wall too #anyway moving the lower half of my body hurts and i had to do a lot of walking today #but the day is done now! and i got my meds in person so this won't happen tomorrow #still i'm gonna complain about it

Can anyone recommend a good brand of grippy sock/tight slipper? No; not for that reason. I’m kinda eh mentally but not necessarily in crisis (yet)…

The fake hardwood floors in this apartment are literal sensory hell to walk on. I can’t take my socks off and walk barefoot on them for two seconds without getting the worst fucking joint cramps in my hands and feet I’ve ever felt in my life. It’s like insta-gout, just add naked toes; but I don’t actually have gout (thank god)… it’s SOLELY from the texture of the floor. I’ve been wearing the same vampire bat socks for four days because I can’t bear to remove them unless my feet have been soaked in hot water before.

Also, the vampire bat socks for your amusement because the little guy is cute:

#sensory processing disorder #I’ve never used that label before but I’m just gonna call it for what it is. I rub wire sanding discs and steel scourers like worry stones #and run the back of my nails on the walls when I walk down hallways despite it being a very bad example for the children #I chew on my hands and scratch my face and neck constantly. I grind my nails into my fingertips.#I constantly touched little old ladies’ fancy clothes and jewelry and played with babies’ fingernails as a kid #I have to touch everything within arm’s reach at the store to test it for quality even if I don’t want it #I don’t like turning on air vents for the bathroom and kitchen or playing certain instruments because they’re too loud #I flick my nails and wring my hands and sniff random items and purposefully eat bland foods so I can feel the texture better #I’ve taken home fresh dinner rolls from the buffet and used them as slow-rising stress balls for two hours before eating them #and I thought walking up a shag carpet staircase in bare feet was a bad texture #These floors are downright SADISTIC #ugh ugh ugh when I get a real house there will only be ceramic tile on the floors #yes in the bedrooms as well. I don’t care. Freeze your feet off.

also fungus gnats or no-see-ums have come indoors while i had the (screened) windows open down here to try to get in a little fresh air, and now I keep getting tiny bugs in my face every so often no matter what room I'm in and idk which they are bc they look so similar so idk how to get rid of them other than just keep trying to kill any that I spot in here and never open the windows again 😭

#this is why i dont open the windows ever despite the fact that I love to get fresh air in down here #and parents scoff at me when i say the reason i keep them closed is bc of bugs #well. they have nice new windows up there lmfao. the ones down here are old and the screens dont fit right and the mesh is slightly too big #so these tiny flies can get in. or little ants. or spiders and weevils and carpet beetles thru the cracks along the screen frame #i appreciate the importance of bugs in the world but i am... so tired of having them in my living space #I've put up with centipedes and earwigs as well as all the aforementioned bugs #i have been kind to them and taken them outdoors as much as i could (except for tiny flies bc. theyre different idk)#but i am just so so so tired of dealing w this all the time fjfkfl #ppl talk abt exposure therapy but I think maybe being constantly exposed to these bugs is giving me new fear of them #i cannot see a weevil outside without having my nervous system act up #i feel like im going to have a breakdown when i see centipedes outside bc it reminds me of all the times I've had to catch them inside #i dont like this :)))))#i am also so close to getting rid of all my houseplants bc im so terrified of having a fungus gnat infestation again #the last time was bc of some potatoes I'd forgotten about in a cupboard. but they also like houseplants. so ummmm #also my isopod terrarium is prime egg laying real estate for them but i taped tea bag material over the openings #so they can't get inside there again lol #idk how to calm down to sleep tonight fjdkl i am so on edge now trying to figure out how to deal w all this #pippen needs 2nd breakfast

#i swear I am hearing stuff #it might be because this is an old house and those make noises sometimes #but maybe there's something #and maybe there's nothing at all and I'm imagining this #i think I'll clean my room sometime the next days....#it's overdue anyways there's this one corner where i haven't looked at in like two years out of fear what might linger in those depths #my room is a nightmare for people with dust allergies #carpet everywhwre last time i dusted off was too long ago to remember #there's some mold on my windows because i used to rarely open them #that was before I noticed that fresh air is really nice actually and i like breathing good #my couch creaks too and I know my heater sometimws makes strange noises #the boiler from my floors bathroom got the verdict “out of date and should probably be replaced''#it works well but now I'm a tad scared of it exploding #or giving me carbon monoxide poisoning #We're paranoid like that ig thats in up here nowadays #god I really should deepclean this thing sometime #by couch too i sleep on it every day so I seldom get the chance to really do something there #because. like. i kinda need that thing #but I vacuumed and where was a lot of dust #why do I live in filth I even try to keep it somewhat alright #sigh I'll just do what I can do for today and chamge my bedsheets #we'll see about the rest when we get there

#so my parents are on a roadtrip in rural turkey currently #and i am SCREAMING #they're hanging out at someone's home #drinking tea and eating cheese and olives and stuff #they get invited somewhere literally EVERY DAY #sometimes it's just 'want a free car wash and a cup of tea?'#once a guy and his son said they should join them for breakfast and my parents were like 'no we only accept tea'#and then it turned out the guy was a baker and they got fresh bread and then someone brought plates with food #and other people from the village joined them #one time they sent me a pic of a living room completely covered in carpets which looked so rad #also most of these people only speak turkish (the baker knew german) and my parents know like 2 words in turkish so they can't even talk #but they are so happy to invite the foreigners #and their current hosts are calling everyone they know to tell them about their foreign visitors #i'm a bit jealous actually
