Well hello there... Alright, I'll admit it. She's my favorite, in cannon and for the redesigns. Love Nathalie, ever since Bubbler. My friend thought I would change my mind later? Nope, it has always and will always be her.

Keeping with the monstrous theme for the miraculous villains meant keeping the blue skin tone. It probably looks like scales but if you look closer the stuff around her eyes and going up to her hair is actually meant to be small feathers.

Civilian Nathalie sticks pretty close to her cannon design but with a grey undershirt instead of red to make the streak in her hair the only pop of color. Fun fact, in cannon when Nathalie gets sick only the streak in her hair turns gray, meaning her natural hair color is bright red and the black is the dye job. I like to believe the same is true here so I warmed up her hair instead of the cool tones I used for Marinette (and Kagami later)

Catalyst and The Collector have the same color pallet and very blatantly go together, like hell I was gonna change that. Instead she just looks more refined as opposed to Gabriel's wild hair.

As for the rewrite, Nathalie is still in love with Gabriel. Honestly honey, you can do better. But her primary motivation is actually to help Adrien. She's raised him just as much, if not more, than his actual parents. And she sees how much it hurts him to see Gabriel pull away even more, and with Emelie just gone. And she is under the impression that Gabriel has the same motivation. Not realizing until its too late that his intentions are far more selfish than hers.

Actually because of that her transformation is less monstrous than Gabe's. While his entire head splits open, hers are superficial. Still painful, but the magic recognizes her potential for change and doesn't force her to suffer the way it does Gabriel. But unfortunately, the peacock miraculous is still damaged. And Nathalie is paying the price for her hopes.

My Genshin OC, Alistair von Fee.

Alistair is a 5-star dendro catalyst-user with a focus on support & dps. He is a part-time volunteer for the Adventurer’s Guild, but primarily works as a florist & jeweler at his shop in Sumeru, The Rose’s Bastion. 

Alistair was once a Seelie prince, back when they had more physical forms, but was cursed to sleep for hundreds of years and forget his life. He was later found and taken in by an elderly woman who claimed he resembles her late son, who later gifted him her shop.

Alistair’s normal attacks are roses with especially sharp thorns and stems as magical projectiles. In the pouch on his belt he carries “pixie dust”, a magic powder amalgamation imbued with his dendro vision, which is thrown into the air to form a small cloud surrounding him (or any character you switch to on your team) to heal over time.

His Elemental burst involves magically growing a huge rose that blooms and heals in an AOE. In addition, the rose gives a special effect to party members called “Fey Madness” that temporarily boosts attack dmg.

Hi Red! I see you and blue are featured as a part of armchairhistory.tv, and I was wondering what that's, like, about? What does the money look like vs continuing to watch you on YouTube? Back in late 2019 I licensed a lightly-edited compilation of 3 History Summarized videos as an experiment for participating on the Armchair History TV site. Griffin and I had worked together on a couple history collaborations in 2018 & '19 so we were familiar working with each other, and it feels much better licensing a video to a friend than a Random Internet Business Shark.

My experience with AHTV essentially ended there. I made a video, Griffin paid a one time price for it, and I didn't feel motivated to do it again. I'm aware the site has had a redesign or two, so I have no idea how my video or OSP's involvement is presented. That's that.

Ultimately, the experiment ended up working out really well for me in particular, because that video I made for AHTV was the catalyst for me sitting down the following year to take the skeleton of that first supercut, but remake it with brand new visuals. You might know it as "History Re-Summarized: The Roman Republic".

Disney Descendants redesigns

Added Ben, or as I've renamed him: Beau

Despite how much I dislike him, I can't forget about him. He IS the catalyst of the franchise, and arguably the heart. Shame they never gave him a personality or likeability though.

He is now the self-absorbed and foppish prince of a major Kingdom, who spends his days doing god knows what in the Enchanted forests. Riding his horse into the sunset, all that classic nonsense. He chooses to "rescue" four kids from the Isle at his fiancée's request, parading them around as his good deed tm. And his world is about to get rocked.

I had so much fun making him look gold and shinyyyyyyy. Magpie brain go brr

Joker's motivations in Joker War

Now idk if I was the only one initially confused by wtf Joker's actual intentions were in Joker War. Maybe I'm just a bit schewpid and everyone else got it but regardless here's my attempt to piece together what's going on in his weird little mind.

Imho, the first lines we get about Joker's underlying intentions are here:

It's extremely important that he was aware of Bruce's intentions to redesign the city. That was definitely the catalyst for the whole thing.

Speaking of Bruce's plans to redesign the city:

He mentions multiple times that his goal is to build a city that doesn't need a Batman.

Regardless of whether he actually mentioned something like this at a press conference or something, I'm sure Joker would be able to pick up on it anyway.

And it's very well-established that Joker needs Batman. The Best Man arc has this whole beautiful monologue about it:

Joker NEEDS Batman. A city without Batman is a city with no place for Joker.

The whole Best Man arc takes during the same year (year 17) as Joker War (prior to it, obviously).

The Batcat engagement took place in year 16. (In which Batman also had Joker locked up in his basement. And he deliberately tracked down amnesiac!Joker and made him Normal Joker again so he could get information. Yowza! Not cool, Bats.)

Additionally, the events of Endgame took place on year 15 and Death of the Family in year 14.

Joker reveals more of his motivations in the final fight scene between him and Batman:

Very interesting that Joker initially chooses to stab Batman in the back. Hmm I wonder if that has any deeper meaning or reveals anything about Joker's own feelings in this situation /sar.

Also very, very, very significant that Joker chooses to battle Batman in that particular suit, after he essentially desecrates it:

So, by now, it's apparent that Joker's direct intention with Joker War was to essentially destroy the possibility of Bruce's vision of Gotham:

He even directly says that all of this was about them.

Hm... I don't think he's just talking about the city, here...

And then we have this:

There's been a recurring theme since Death of the Family, that Bruce isn't being the Batman that Joker wants him to be.

To me, this line feels like "okay, Batman is ruined irreparably, let's just destroy him and start over from scratch."

Then we have this panel. Whew. I think this might be one of the most revealing panels in the entirety of Joker War, largely because of how Joker is depicted in it.

He doesn't look angry, he looks genuinely distraught.

And I didn't notice this until someone else pointed it out but if you zoom in, it definitely looks like he's crying.

I don't think this is just an artistic thing, largely because of this panel from a few issues back:

So those are definitely tears of laughter. But it looks roughly the same. Except based on the context and his expression, I don't think those are tears of laughter in Joker War. At the very least, he's hysterical.

Somewhat of a tangent but it's important to tie everything together: Joker War reminds me very much of DOTF and Endgame in that Joker is depicted (or tries to portray himself) as this terrifying, ruthless, inhuman thing, but if you actually look into his motivations, he's being driven by his emotions, particularly his feelings about Batman, which are almost inarguably the most human part of him.

In DOTF he talks about how Batman isn't being the Batman he wants him to be and yadda yadda, but then in the tie-ins, we have this section, which I think does a beautiful job of explaining his real motivations:

It's jealousy. Jealousy and fear. He's terrified of losing Batman.

And then there's a similar thing in Endgame.

Initially, he says this:

"Haha yeah I'm just bored of you lol."

But then in the final scene we get this:

He's not bored, he's heartbroken. He's genuinely hurt by Batman (in his perception) rejecting him, and he's lashing out in a major way.

I think it's definitely similar in Joker War, except he's not as afraid of losing Batman to the Batfam, more so he's afraid that Bruce's new design for the city will eliminate the need for a Batman, although the Batcat almost-wedding and Bruce's growing family definitely play a role in his motivations.

I think that might be where his whole idea of making Batman start over with nothing came from. Because when Bruce started, he didn't really have anyone except for Alfred, and later Dick.

I think that Joker could tolerate him having a few allies but he can't handle the idea of Batman having an actual family. Both because he doesn't want to share Batman's attention, and because he doesn't have a family, so why does Batman get to have one? Why does Batman get to connect with people when the only person he's truly connected to is Batman? He wants Bats to be as dependent on him as he is on Bats.

So, that's just my Hot Take (read: mediocre interpretation) of Joker War. I wasn't too fond of the storyline until I kinda pieced everything together and it's still not my favorite arc but I definitely like it better than I did initially.

December Updates & Announcements

Hi, everyone! December is next week, if you can believe it! In light of this year coming to a close and things starting to wind down/fall into a routine in my personal life so far, I wanted to provide you all with some updates and exciting announcements about what you can expect from my blog and I heading into 2024!

Dincember is coming back for our 4th annual year! I'm so excited to share more writing (and, from others, art and more!) with all of you and to continue this lovely tradition of ours.

UPCOMING WRITING PROJECTS

I have a few things in the works heading into 2024 that I'm super excited to share with all of you! Here's a few that I'm ready to reveal:

I'm doing a Catalyst rewrite! I'm so excited about this one! I'm drawing upon my unfinished series entitled Catalyst and also taking inspiration from Pedro's wonderful performance in TLOU to create a new version of the story entitled Scattered Stars. It features a brand-new OC named Kyla Tiigan, a 14-year-old girl with a backstory you'll never see coming. I'm currently working on the first chapter and I can't wait to share it with you!

As per usual, I'll be writing at least two Security interludes as we wait for season 4! The Djarin family left off in a very happy place going into season 4, and I can't wait to show you how they continue to enjoy their home on Nevarro - and what their future may look like.

I have two new micro-series planned, both based off of Din's new position in the New Republic! Both are enemies-to-lovers, one a senator and one an X-wing pilot, though they're still mostly at the planning stage with no names set yet. I'm hoping to debut the first pieces of those after Scattered Stars!

MASTERLIST REDESIGN

I'm going to be redesigning my masterlist soon, as I've finally hit my 100-link limit! What I'm likely going to do is split my masterlist into their respective categories, with links to those separate masterlists. For example, there will be one dedicated to just Din one-shots, one to my series, and so on and so forth. One those fill up, I'll specify reader-inserts, OCs, and more. Be on the lookout for this change in the coming weeks!

PERSONAL LIFE UPDATE

Something I wanted to share with you all as the reason why I haven't been as active is because I got a job promotion! I've gone from a senior writer to an editor of the Star Wars beat at Screen Rant. I couldn't be more grateful for this change, and I absolutely adore the work I do. Now, I still get to write, but I have more freedom to write the ideas I want - hence why just about every Din Djarin article from the site as of late has been written by me! I have to thank you all for supporting me, because it was this blog that helped me to find such a niche and practice fandom writing in the first place.

Those are all the updates and announcements I have for now! I'm looking forward to finishing out the year with you and beginning yet another one as I prepare to celebrate 4 years of this blog in January!

Bit of a catalyst beach skin redesign!

Unfortunately almost fifteen years later Mirror’s edge still lives in my brain (and catalyst too, I guess 🙄) so I’ve been messing around with semi-redesigns of some of the characters. It’s hard to do much to faith’s look bc she’s perfect already ☺️ but I gave her a few little fun tweaks. The first image of her were little scribbles on how to do 2D animated segments. I was also messing around with celeste’s design bc I love her concept art. Still want to mess with her design more tho. Anyway, all 10-15 mirror’s edge fans that are still around, enjoy (:

Character on the left is the session leader of Modfall, Harry "Helly" Dukeley-Rosette-Harmon, or just the Dukeley Puts the thing about Rogues and their possible backstories, AND the "personality shifting" thing, aka he's a silly catalyst of his friends changing personalities pre-game for the better or worse.

Besides Bill Nye, inventing flying machines, and town adventuring, he also likes to ship his friends like Nepeta, and also flirts a lot. Ironic that he also doesn't know how to accept reciprocated affection, parental or platonic and morail-levels.

AND there is a design choice behind his eyes...

Long post here, since I haven't posted to this site in a while. I mostly want my space here to post the same drawings I usually do but with a bit more description and some world building (?) I want to try at least, even if I end up sounding insane. I don't do these for twitter since A: I'm not paying money to an egomaniac with a cult-like following who produces finger-slaying vehicles just to make longer posts and B: The amount of followers I have on twitter still makes me nervous to be quite honest and posting on here I at least feel a bit more comfortable doing so.

Design of Crowe's main outfit which I keep changing because I am indecisive, and painfully so... I like how this came out a lot! So I don't really plan on changing it soon. These clothes were made by her best friend Honeydew who has been making clothes for many of the forest harpies over the years.

This is a redesign of an older character named Morningstar. Zombies and the undead need to be bound to a necromancer or a strong catalyst, she is one of the few successful "Living" zombies created by deep sea necromancers. The octopus like growth IS Morningstar, the body it's attached to used to be called Princess Serena. The last drawing of her old design is below, I ended up not liking the ball on chain for the leg and moved it to the arm instead.

When I posted this drawing to twitter I noticed an error on it and ended up fixing it but never reposted it and I still wont, so the fixed version will just be here.

Poison Elves - the most dangerous of the three kinds of forest elf to be around. They are not malicious by nature but they are constantly producing powerful toxins from their bodies mainly through their saliva. The parts of the forest they call home are full of poison springs and swamps, while deadly spores plague the air. Most of what's known about them is limited and many who live outside the great forest don't know of their existence.

I redesigned a couple of old characters, which started with Morningstar, and now to a character named Silver. you can see her old design up above the poison elf drawing.

Assassin Silver - A former goblin prisoner now a blade for hire. During a war with the kingdom of meadow elves many elves were captured and "fed" large amounts of mana to forcefully and rapidly grow their horns which are then cut off and turned into weapons. These weapons would effortlessly pierce and cut through a meadow elf's magic armor. The meadow elves would soon outfit and train their knights to fight in heavy plate armor.

Sisters of the Library - Cecil and Cecilia. Cecil is the (very) tall, younger sister and is the assistant to the (shorter) eldest sister Cecilia who is the head librarian of Azalea's Library in the great forest region.

A/N- It was just too good of an opportunity to pass on. I think that after retrieving the gnosis, Scaramouche would have trouble processing his feelings. He wouldn’t know what most of them mean and would be mad about it.

Here you were again, farming primogems like you usually did. Just to ensure that when his banner finally comes you'd have enough to get him. 

It was funny, really, how enthralled the players were when they first encountered him. How he was the character who gained the most popularity in the shortest amount of time, despite not even being announced as playable yet. How everyone seemed to adore him, even though his appearances in the game so far have been short and scarce. He had everyone's attention. And there you were, dutifully farming once again for none other than him.

In the beginning, he didn't pay you much attention. He still didn't like to admit it, but with time you had grown on him. You and your stubborn determination to farm for a character whose banner has not even been announced! How much foolish can you get? He would stifle a smile whenever he thought of it. Has it never occurred to you that he might not even become playable? Did you really want him that much that you saved for months only on the off chance that one day he'd get his own banner?

The irony of it was ridiculous. The defective puppet, discarded by his own mother, stripped of his very heart, now adored by so many. And most importantly you. So single-minded in your pursuit of gathering enough to have him join your team. He did so much wrong, going as far as being responsible for the death of that NPC you were friends with. What was his name again? He honestly didn't even remember. And La Signora too. Didn't you like her as well? Either you were the stupidest person he's ever met or the most forgiving. The first. Definitely, the first… 

So why did it make him feel so wrong? He couldn't make much sense of human emotion, but this was different. It wasn't like the anger he had been acquainted with for so long. This feeling was new, and it made his chest hurt whenever he saw that big, dumb grin plastered over your face after you obtained enough for another pull. He'd have time to figure that out after he'd join you. 

After he ran away with Ei's gnosis, he's been experiencing a lot more emotions that he's unfamiliar with. It was the first time he's ever felt fear. Or anxiousness.

Rumors were floating all around. And then it happened. The news of the redesign. His element was said to be changed to Anemo. Scaramouche scoffed. He clearly looked more suited for Electro. The players were unhappy. More and more stopped saving for him. 'He's wielding the wrong element,' they'd say. 'I wanted an Electro catalyst! I have no use for another Anemo unit!'

Abandoned once again. The few who stuck around were skeptical. Not only was he said to have an Anemo Vision, but some spoke of a potential redesign. He didn't want one. He was happy with his current outfit, and the players seemed happy as well. It was a disaster. He watched most of them slowly give up and spend their savings on other characters. Then there was you. Stupid, stubborn you. Banner after banner, you resisted the temptation to pull. Instead, you kept saving and saving, going past 100 Intertwined Fates and still not stopping. 'I want to get his weapon too!' You really were something else. 

His banner was said to come in version 3.3. Reruns of your favorite characters came and went, and still, your will didn't falter. What if he was Anemo? You still wanted him. What if he got a redesign? You knew you'd like him regardless. Hell, he could even become a healer and you'd still main him! It made Scaramouche's 'heart' ache. 

There was still a long way until 3.3, and perhaps you'd change your mind about him. He didn’t think he could bring himself to hate you, even if you did. But you gave him hope- something that he never thought he'd have and he found himself latching onto it, afraid of what would happen if it would be ripped away. Unbeknownst to you, with every new pull you saved for, he was there, cheering for you.

'You can do this!' 

'Come on, that commission is not even that hard…'

'You're skipping Childe's rerun? Hah! Suck it, ginger!'

'Spiral Abyss, really? You can't even beat the 11th floor? I bet I would clear it in no time without breaking a sweat. That's why you need me!

So wait for me…

Don't you dare leave me too!'

Anyways i spent like what 2-3 years redesigning my self insert here lmaoooooo

Something i didn’t get to talk abt in the pic is that the spamming of peach blossoms is a reference to 桃花源|taohuayuan, a paradise where people dont age and are happy, but are cut off from the outside world. The scholar who finds it in the poem can’t ever find it again once he leaves. It’s a way of saying paradise, but also a way of saying unreachable/unrealistic dreams.

The five petal plates in the base skin’s core are the more “stable” version, but with fewer capabilities. The alt skin’s core has more petals and thus more capabilities(more reflections mean more projections) but is “unstable” and harder to control.

And yeah in this au I mess with the abyss to do stuff bc in every universe i am an idiot who doesn’t know what the word moderation means

I picked anemo as the element because even though my favorites are geo-hydro-dendro, anemo fit the best with the concept of being able to recast other characters’ ults, what with the infusions on swirl and all. Of course, all elemental bursts can be emulated, including geo and dendro even though they don’t react w/ anemo :9 bc i get to be a lil silly and op

Formerly part of the Emergency Outbreak Team.

Tested on himself in order to fully understand the effects of FATE, but the transformation [[I'll find a different word for that I swear]] occurred too soon due to his fragile health,a dn his research locked in the room with him once the infection caught up.

The nickname "THE ADMINISTRATOR" comes from his passing the the administrative office containing the buildings security cameras. FATE forced a connection and Alan could see every room in the building in which his friends succumbed to the same illness he so desperately wanted to cure.

He soon ended up eating his own eyes so all his attention and power can be on the cameras, but rendering him blind when it comes to him being no longer connected, which may help Sascha in the long run.

He just wanted to help.
