i have such a love for characters who descend into madness or villainy out of deep, deep empathy. characters who fundamentally cannot cope with the cruel realities they find themselves in and blow up about it in spectacular fashion. fallen angel type characters with tears of outrage in their eyes. characters who break before they bend, and break so badly they splatter blood all over their noble ideals. every variation on it gets me so good

Thankfully the participants have mostly named themselves, but I wanted to post this anyways

People ragging on duo names are RIGHT, but I think people who default to them are understandably defensive bc no one explains why they're not good beyond being overused

Desert duo works because them being a solo pair of people spiraling around each other in the desert until one beats the other to death is their Entire Deal. Duo here is conveying information/has a connotation beyond "this is 2 people"

Most of the time, the number of people in the relationship is NOT the most significant quality you can be sharing. Flower Husbands, Boat Boys, Team Rancher, Team BEST all give us more useful info/ have more interesting connotations

Are they a team/equal partnership? (Team BEST, Team T.I.E.S., Team Rancher)

Is it an arrangement of mutual need or a fragile alliance? (Monopoly Mountain, Magical Mountain, Southlands - players obfuscate more contractual/ delicate relationships by referring to them as the place they happen, not by the people involved)

Are they irresponsible or childish about the impact of their kills? (Boat Boys, Coral Kids, Bad Boys)

Is it a larger group following a leader? Let's throw in some military or royal imagery! (Red Army, Fairy Fort)

I do think it's very funny that we are so consistently bad at this that the creators have started preemptively offering names

Tew is the best gangster we've had in a BL yet. He has a tragic backstory that makes sense, he's always been ready for a fight, he's not afraid to hurt people or take revenge but doesn't go for the instant kill (but will kill), he knows how to control people and how to take control of situations, he turns his pain into violence and he uses that to his advantage and when he decides to leave he admits he doesn't know how to live without the mafia in his life but will try anyway, for love.
