I just find it so funny that Boston only had a losing record against two teams, Ottawa and Florida, and they got stuck with the worst match up possible by having to play the Panthers first round AND LOST 😭

This novel does a really good job of conveying the protagonist's loneliness to you. He has people in his life, he has friends and everything, but one common thread in all of these is that he just couldn't seem to really get close with anyone. It's like there's a wall between him and everyone else and no matter how much time he spends with them he can't connect properly, honestly, because in those moments where he is faced with vulnerability he can't come up with anything to say.

And he seems to have loved his mother dearly. He doesn't actively express his sadness and grief over losing her, but it's kind of clear to see. He thinks of her regularly, of the differences between the time when she was still alive, of the fact that they both have the same terminal cancer, and both love Cabbage (the cat). He doesn't need to express his grief, he doesn't really seem like he most self-reflected guy anyways, but it's like his life ended alongside his mother's

Anyways, I quite like the way the MC processed the news that he doesn't have long left to live.

So far he's already very endearing to me, very much my type - A depressed 30 year old man, who's very... plain, almost? It's like he doesn't have anything that really fuels him. He has his cat, but that's pretty much it. And given the summary, he seems to not be in contact with his family either. So now I'm curious how that's going to change? Is there a reason he's like that? Is he just inclined to being depressed?
