All this Himbo prelims thing is making me re-evaluate a lot of characters, it's really fun! Like, is Chen Yi kind enough to considered a himbo? Imp, no. Cao Weining however, now that I'm thinking about it, fits the definition pretty well. Which makes him and Gu Xiang a himbo-for-himbo couple! Power to them!

And I'm discovering other characters too!!

Anyway I'm having a lot of fun, wanting to say thank you for organizing this! (and thank you to everyone who submitted characters!) <3

Yes! I studied philosophy in school so I've got a lot of experience in the whole process of writing a comprehensive definition of something and figuring out what does or does not fit within that definition. and it's really fun to take fandom terms like himbo and treat them with the same level of seriousness and really analyze if a character fits into that definition or not. It is really interesting for characters who at first blush seem to fit until you really look at them and hold them up to your definition! And characters who you would not think of at all until you really look into it and realize that they fit perfectly!

Also yes Cao Weining and Gu Xiang being himbo4himbo is something that never once crossed my mind until this bracket and now I love them even more.

starting any new medication with intended or unintended mental effects is so weird. it’s not exactly like waking up with a whole new brain but it definitely feels like my mind got reformatted. this latest nervous system one is doing some what it’s supposed to physically (thank god) but it’s definitely doing… something to my thinking patterns and emotional responses. i’m not sure what. it has some overlap with the symptoms of an early manic upswing in the sense that the “regard for consequences” segment of my brain is sending an out-of-office message, so i thought it was that at first, but that’s definitely not it. but. something.

Mental health self-assessment checklists really ought to have an option for “This symptom of Condition X is being masked and/or kept in check by the presence of comorbid Condition Y.” Like yes, my issues are currently working together to keep me more-or-less upright, but please understand that it’s a house of cards over here.

#june speaks #minecraft #mojang's been killin it with the little things lately #i was amazed to see em pull this off cuz they almost certainly had to tussle with microsoft over it #the mob vote has always been a neat lil marketing trick for generating engagement which is essnetially free advertising #so naturally even as it started to cause worse n worse problems microsoft probably didn't want it to stop #but now it's gone and we're all gonna be better off for it #it was cool at first but like #the increase over the years of criticisms towards how minecraft is developed #(which can get a bit silly sometimes but i think is better than simply kissing mojang's collective ass)#plus how disgustingly popular members of the community could easily skew the vote #it just wasn't workin out anymore. it just generated hostility in the community and animosity towards the devs #and i'll be honest as much as i want new content in the game i don't think a new mob every year is sustainable #that shit would bloat the game so badly #aside from the copper golem and the inferno all the vote mobs fall into three categories;#largely cosmetic and forgotten about until you stumblr upon one #useful to a very niche subset of players and ignored by everyone else #and hostile mob you would likely actively avoid #which isn't to say these sorts of things are bad! plenty of non vote mobs also fall into these #but we don't need one of those every single year

Feel like one of the best ways you can convince someone that no, villains with compelling motives that have sad backstories are not terrible writing compared to straight up born evil villains who just want to kill everyone and be done with it, is to tell them that Warrior Cats writes born evil villains constantly while literally preaching “That’s how evil works, you can’t CHANGE, you’re either touched by demons at birth or you aren’t!” and it blows chunks
