SCREAMING CRYING OH MY GOD PEOPLE ACTUALLY LIKE MY OCS AAAAAAAAAAAAAA
(okay but fr though, I'm so happy that people like my ocs and my stories cause I spent the majority of my middle school years getting nothing but criticism from my parents when they read my stories, so the amount of validation I'm getting from this is insane-)

just bingewatched heartstopper 2 and i feel so.
i feel so much, i'm almost sick.
first of, darcys story? darcys fucking story, i can't even. a teenage girl, a lesbian, being this friendly and cheerful and slightly out of pocket persona, and all this qualities being just a little very loud, because at home she's so very quiet, and me,
being so fucking jealous of her. simply because i didn't ever attempt to run away like that. i just froze. and pretended it was nothing really there. and darcy is so, so brave.
she's saying this "im not who you think i am, you might love that person not who i am really" speech and i just wanna scream because not only i feel just exactly like that, i didn't ever have the courage to say it. to verbalize it. 'cause they don't just might love the person they think i am, they definitely do, you know?
they do.
and darcy runs away. and darcy tells the truth. and i didn't. and i don't.
and now it's too late, cause i'm twenty now, and when i run away, if i run away, it'll be "moving out, 'cause that's what all the grown ups do, 'cause now it's right and acceptable to". but maybe i should do it earlier. i don't know, it was pretty dangerous for me to do so in my country, but i still feel like i should. like i needed that, and i needed the consequences, if they were. i deserved the consequences.
but it doesn't matter. seeing darcy doing brave things, braver things, was almost like finally doing them myself.

That playlist though. Oh no. OH NO! Feelings for and about Mulan. Right through the heart. I love "Another Love" so very much, but I'm often said when you watch some fanedit and it's kinda missing this beat how, well, the previous/other/first love was so all consuming, that finding something new is hard. Now you make me think about Sleeping Warrior vs Red Warrior here, OBVIOUSLY!
Mulan hitting rock bottom, wandering around aimless after leaving Aurora, because obviously she didn't join Robin. And we see her in that tavern, given up on honor (her truest of loves, clearly). Hitting the other direction of her whole character so hard.
Meeting Ruby is nice, but falling for her doesn't come easy at all. She had her hopes set up on Aurora and it destroyed her completely, now where is the energy to muster up the courage to go for a second round?
~And if somebody hurts you, I wanna fight
But my hand's been broken one too many times~
HELP! I'M DYING OVER HERE WITH THE IMAGES!!
Thinking back to the intensity of the first time and while wanting love not being able to go for it... yeah, very canon, very tragic.
I'm listening through the whole thing, but I saw it ends with Marina. Great. The only thing more devastating would have been a Florence song. Marina's voice alone can carry this specific kind of melancholia/sadness...
~I'm a nomad [...] no sweet home~
Yeah, a Mulan song. What a choice. Never meeting anybody from her past, not getting her own happy ending.
Also, yes to the thing you said - she is so terribly stubborn. They gave us a fullfledged 3dimensional character with flaws, who would also bring a very useful skillset to the table and with more time all those walls she clearly build could have been torn down by the right person. Damn.
(Maybe I should finally cave and get spotify, make things easier. lol)
Another Love THEE reason for this playlist! At least, when I listened to it some years ago, it was the first (and for a while the only song) I had on her playlist. Because it was so perfect for her!! and I HAD to have it on some kind of Mulan playlist.
But YEAH!! Mulan's heartbreak over Aurora is so evident in season 5 and it really changes her as a person. And she becomes so bitter and so jaded (and then canon doesn't even give her a happy ending and she has to third wheel AGAIN 😭)
But when you throw Ruby into the mix? Oh boy, I'm VERY here for this. It won't be easy for either of them (Mulan struggling to open up and put herself out there again and with Ruby viewing herself as a monster still and worrying about hurting Mulan if they're too close) but...if they were both able to work up the courage and power through any of those issues... 👀
Also, see, I think it's such a shame because I feel like Mulan IS three dimensional, yes! But sometimes fandom (very broadly speaking) treats her like she's not. And she gets watered down into this kind of 'girlboss' character. And yeah, she IS a girlboss! Sure! But she's kind of a dork-ass-loser as well sometimes and she takes things way too seriously and she's so closed off.
Anyway, the point is that, like many ouat side characters, Mulan deserved so much more from canon.

my new and improved Barry Steakfries autism headcanons :D
Barry is the type of autistic who actively seeks out sensory input and loves to talk to people! he does this by blasting rock music through his whole house, flying really high in the sky on his jetpack and feeling the wind on his face, causing loud and destructive explosions, listening to the whirring of his MGJP, going out for drinks with a lot of friends including Craig and watching action movies with a lot of carnage. most of these get him in serious trouble with the law, but they can't catch him because he has a jetpack and they don't >:)
he's the type of guy to listen to death metal screaming to feel Delightfully Whelmed and sit there calmly on the floor like it's nothing
Barry's main stim is ripping his shirt sleeves, usually as an expression of super strong emotions (excitement, rage, fear. etc) or to combat his tactile sensory issues. he also bounces his knee and clenches his fists when he's bored or nervous.
most of Barry's sensory issues are tactile, like the way certain (and by certain i mean most) types of sleeves feel on his arms. they can make his arms feel scratchy and tight, which can get worse if they're wet and just hang onto his skin. he's a lot more comfortable wearing loose soft sleeves or wearing them when it's cold. a lot of people have asked Barry why he doesn't just wear tank tops if he hates the feeling of sleeves, to which he says that ripping them off is way more satisfying and fun, like he's killing the bad sensory feeling itself by tearing it off him.
Barry mentions in one of the episodes of his vlog that his shirt ripping stim was passed down through generation to generation and that his dad rips his sleeves as well. my headcanon is that this is generational autism and their children learning their parents' stims! (Barry also mentions that the only generation that didn't rip their sleeves was in the medieval generation when they wore chainmail which i think in this context is really interesting!)
Barry isn't very good with emotional regulation. he can get frustrated, impatient and angry really quickly, which we see a lot of in the 'Rainbow Barry' short. he also struggles with executive functioning and frequently forgets or struggles to do tasks he finds boring, misplaces things, procrastinates a lot, struggles with impulsiveness and planning.
Barry also has inattentive type ADHD (otherwise known as ADD) which he shows traits of in the 'Rainbow Barry' short as well.
he picks up a lot of catchphrases and personality traits from his favourite action movies!
i mentioned before that Barry loves to talk to people, but he struggles with quite a few social skills. he forgets people's boundaries, has trouble controlling his volume, accidentally interrupts people, can come off as scary sometimes and forgets what the conversation was about. a lot of other people don't really like him because they think he's just being rude and self-centred and he's never really understood why. Craig understand though, and that's why they love each other :)
his special interests are jetpacks, action movies, his dad's record collection and dogs! he may not be an expert but he loves them :)
Barry has no idea he's autistic and thinks he instead has a disease that makes him rip his sleeves because no one's ever told him and he doesn't remember getting diagnosed.
