  Listen⇒KVoice of Resistance
Check out this episode of your Resistance Podcast where we resist the downfall of our nation. We discuss the profound idiot that is the Stepford scout leader, Jared Kushner, and the tale of how he tried to get Planned Parenthood to stop doing that whole abortion thing. We had a win in the courts on Tuesday for voting rights. And then, holy corruption batman! Where do we start? This episode we start with Scott Pruitt. If you like animals and are worried about endangered species you don’t want to hear about Susan Combs’ appointment overseeing wildlife. She just hates it when those endangered species gets in the way of her oil. The White House is about to remove about 300 species from the threatened species list. We tell you how. We go over the environmental wins in the Omnibus spending bill. Finally, we have two calls to action. Call to oppose the appointment of Coal lobbyist, Andrew Wheeler, to the number two spot at the EPA. Secondly, call to urge state legislators to enact legislation to prevent police violence. #resist

Meet 30-year old Ohio chef Jeremy Pruitt, who’s become a Mississippi State internet celebrity because he has the same name as football coach Jeremy Pruitt
Brief confusion quickly gave way to a delightful joke and earnest well-wishes.
Jeremy Pruitt is the defensive coordinator for Alabama. He’s reportedly emerged as a candidate for Mississippi State’s head coaching job, now that Dan Mullen’s gone to Florida. Pruitt’s Twitter account is @CoachJPruitt, where he has nearly 30,000 followers.
Jeremy Pruitt is not the only Jeremy Pruitt.
Another Jeremy Pruitt is a 30-year-old country club sous chef from Columbus, Ohio, he told SB Nation. He now lives in Dayton and is a huge Ohio State fan. He is not a football coach. His Twitter account is @jgroove1, where he had just over 500 followers as of 10 p.m. ET Monday.
Here are the two Jeremy Pruitts, just so everyone’s clear:
Getty, Jeremy Pruitt
Football coach Jeremy Pruitt (left) and sous chef Jeremy Pruitt (right).
There may have been brief confusion between the two Pruitts on Monday.
Monday evening, a handful of Mississippi State fans started tweeting at Sous Chef Jeremy Pruitt, urging him to come to Starkville.
They were looking for Football Coach Jeremy Pruitt but sent their solicitations to Chef Pruitt instead, or they were just kidding around.
Here’s the tweet that started it all, as best I can tell. I think it was unironic, maybe:
#HailState Coach Pruitt!!!!!
— Analease Pressley (@ForwardRebels_) November 27, 2017
Chef Pruitt immediately recognized what was going on.
No way I’m getting tweeted about accepting the Miss State coaching job lol
— Jeremy Pruitt (@jgroove1) November 27, 2017
Chef Pruitt knows football well, so he’d know who Coach Pruitt is anyway. But he’s been familiar with Pruitt for years, he told me, because he used to watch that MTV show Two-A-Days.
You remember Two-A-Days, surely. It followed an elite high school football team from Hoover, Ala., in 2006. The defensive coordinator on that team? Coach Jeremy Pruitt. During one episode, Coach Pruitt seemed to have no idea what asparagus was.
youtube
There were only a few tweets that seemed to indicate genuine confusion. Even the first account to tweet at Chef Pruitt about the MSU job seemed to get the joke shortly thereafter, so I have no idea how many people were truly confused.
There was one enjoyable exchange between Chef Pruitt, a Bama fan, and Bama beat writer Cecil Hurts of the Tuscaloosa News, who’d retweeted Chef Pruitt’s tweet.
And:
Welcome! You are going to love Starkville. Check out @SBCoffeehouse asap! #hailstate @HailStateFB
— Bryan Myl (@TheBryanMyl) November 27, 2017
Any confusion gave way to this quickly becoming a fun gag.
The first response to Chef Pruitt’s note that he’d been getting tweeted at:
as long as y’all don’t Schiano me
— Jeremy Pruitt (@jgroove1) November 27, 2017
Tweets started to pour in from MSU fans all over.
@jgroove1 LOL at all these state fans tweeting you like you’re the football coach all it takes is a simple google search to see you aren’t the right one! Welcome to the state fam anyways
— Tæ (@tae_vaughn15) November 27, 2017
You are welcome anytime!!
— Shot Calla (@Dawgfan15) November 27, 2017
Some invites to the Florida-MSU game next year, when Mullen returns to town:
I may get you a ticket to the Florida game!!
— Brent Clark (@coachbclark64) November 28, 2017
September 29th would be a wild weekend to come just FYI
— Tæ (@tae_vaughn15) November 27, 2017
hahahah welcome fam
— Josh Clausen (@JoshClausen) November 28, 2017
Lol hail State
— bulldog (@hailstate870101) November 28, 2017
If that is your boat in your profile pic, can you bring it with you? Got some good fishing holes down here!
— Shot Calla (@Dawgfan15) November 28, 2017
I can see the resemblance. #dopelganger welcome to the #HailState family.
— Chris Burgess (@wrckdm) November 28, 2017
Ha! Might as well go with it!!
— Strange Brew Coffeehouse - Starkville, Mississippi (@SBCoffeehouse) November 28, 2017
He got a bunch of offers for MSU gear.
Sounds like this man needs more cowbell! http://pic.twitter.com/X7rSg40H36
— Peth (@dhedge25) November 28, 2017
send this man some gear!!! lolol
— Dylan Mullen (@DMullen14) November 28, 2017
Alumni in Ohio, I got you covered, Coach. #HailState #realPruitt
— Evan Howell (@EvanBHowell) November 28, 2017
We will take care of you send me your address
— Dat Dawg (@DatDawg79) November 28, 2017
Shipping address?
— R. Flagg (@wooteneng) November 28, 2017
Help this man out @adidas @HailState
— Ole Reed Green (@Reedgreen7) November 28, 2017
Who’s all for making @jgroove1 an honorary alumni of Mississippi State? #hailstate
— Aaron Morrison (@AaronMorrison89) November 28, 2017
There are scores more tweets like this. At least many dozen, and climbing toward the hundreds as the night got older.
Pretty much everyone except this one guy had a blast with this:
Fake
— Will Shular (@Will_Shular) November 28, 2017
Chef Pruitt was deeply appreciative of all the Starkville love.
Imma have to support Miss State now, all the love is amazing
— Jeremy Pruitt (@jgroove1) November 27, 2017
100% going to Miss State aka Starkvegas next year for a game, only right
— Jeremy Pruitt (@jgroove1) November 27, 2017
He did the only appropriate thing and made this his Twitter bio:
He says MSU will henceforth be a close second behind Ohio State in his heart.
This is now one of my favorite college football stories of the year.
Mississippi State must hire Jeremy Pruitt the Football Coach and also bring in Jeremy Pruitt the Sous Chef as an honorary captain for the first game of the 2018 season.

Tennessee Department of Education Awards More Than $8.5 Million to 212 Grant Recipients for Summer Reading Programs
Tennessee Department of Education Awards More Than $8.5 Million to 212 Grant Recipients for Summer Reading Programs
NASHVILLE—Education Commissioner Candice McQueen announced today that more than 11,000 students in 107 communities across the state will benefit from the 2017 Read to be Ready Summer Grant program, which funds educational camps that target rising first, second, and third graders who are not on grade level in reading during the critical summer months. In total, the department is awarding more than $8.5 million to 212 grant recipients throughout Tennessee.
This spring, the department received applications from nearly three-quarters of school districts across Tennessee for summer grant funding. The Tennessee Departments of Education and Human Services, with support from First Lady Crissy Haslam, have partnered to expand the Read to Be Ready Summer Grant program through an investment of $30 million over the next three years.
“Summer reading loss can have a significant impact on the academic progress made by our students during the school year,” Mrs. Haslam said. “These Read to Be Ready summer programs are an innovative and strategic approach to combating that summer slide and improving reading proficiency across the state.”
Read to be Ready is a coordinated campaign and approach to increase third grade reading proficiency in Tennessee to 75 percent by 2025 through a variety of initiatives. The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the importance of reading, unite efforts to address low reading achievement, highlight best practices, and build partnerships. The Read to be Ready Summer Grant Program is designed to support students even after the last day of school, and results from the first year indicated for the nearly 600 students who participated, there were increases in their abilities to read fluently and decode words, increased phonemic awareness, and increased confidence and interest in reading.
“To reach our goals as a state, we know that our struggling readers need support beyond strong, daily classroom instruction for 180 days of the year,” McQueen said. “Read to be Ready summer programs help communities ensure our youngest learners are getting the targeted support they need year-round. Above all, we want students to develop the skills and abilities that will grow their motivation and confidence to become life-long readers and thinkers.”
To further support Read to be Ready, starting today McQueen and the First Lady are visiting elementary schools across the state as part of the commissioner’s Classroom Chronicles Tour. During these visits, they are hosting teacher roundtables focused on educators’ perspectives and experiences teaching literacy skills in the early grades. This spring, McQueen has been visiting schools that participate in the Read to be Ready Coaching Network, which supports elementary school teachers and helps them to provide strong instruction, and schools that participated in last summer’s reading grant program.
The full list of 2017 Read to be Ready summer grant recipients and local program directors is attached as well as available on thedepartment’s website. To find out more about the grants, visit the Read to be Ready website. For more information on Read to be Ready and the summer grant program, contact Paige Atchley, Read to be Ready program director, at [email protected]. For media inquiries, contact Sara Gast at (615) 532-6260 or [email protected].
