Breathe in, breathe out... and don't worry if the claddagh doesn't make an appearance at the Emmys. Most celebs forego their daily wear for sponsored jewelry to complete their look. Unfortunately, the claddagh probably doesn't match with the set Nic donned, worth a whopping 24k 🤑 Why not please the designers when you get to drip in luxury for the night?

Her custom Barbie dress was all Swarovski crystals, as was the jewelry she wore to the Met Gala. And the jewelry both Luke and Nic wore in the Town N Country shoot was ridiculously elite!

I think one thing that G and Vic have in common is that their love language is gift-giving, but they do it in different ways. Vic does it by buying actual gifts. Jewelry, clothes, things to suit their loved one's hobbies, etcetera. Her way of telling them she loves them is anything that she can give someone to make them happy. On the other hand, G is sort of a grand gesture giving person (surprised?) but in a very gaudy, boastful way lmao. Their partner wants to go see the beach? G would rent out an entire island for a weekend. G would do that typical celeb-romance thing where they hire an orchestra to play music inside their home. G goes all out and likes the love and praise they get for doing so. It's very innocent sort of like a child who is pulling on their mother's dress saying "look! look! tell me you like it!"

Seb would talk often about the future without realizing he's making a lot of assumptions. "Hey, we should visit here next year" or "this would be a nice couch for our future apartment." When he's in love, he's in love for the long haul and shows he's in love by rearranging his life to accommodate the new person in it. And he's happy to do it! He's never been one to think of him since he had Maya, but now everything he does will have both Maya and his partner in mind.

Seven is through music womp womp yes I'm aware no one is surprised haha but mixtapes, sending songs, writing lyrics, just sharing their hobbies with their partner is a big sign that Seven is in deep. So I'd like to talk a bit about the Filipino funeral gold scandal and how as someone writing an anti-colonial Filipino epic fantasy based heavily on early shaman lead rebellions against Spanish colonial rule I have some intense feelings about Filipino actress Beauty Gonzales flaunting wearing funerary death masks taken from a Large number of graves in surigao, butuan and mindinao and rather then treating them with appropriate respect or any kind of cultural ethics and instead turning them into fashion jewelry.

Aside from the damage to important archeological artifacts the utter disrespect shown to the dead who were interred in this way to ensure thier successful passage into the afterlife and to protect their bodies from the entry of evil spirits

For me it calls to mind when I was doing my primary sources research for Saints of Storm and Sorrow into the tree and boat burials of Luzon and reading the accounts of precolonial funerary practices by early Spanish friars and "naturalists" one of these documents was the memoir of Domingo Sanches who in a particularly horrifying account, noted how in the village he was staying in a young girl had died and he recorded how she was mourned and the great love and ceremony with which she was buried and how later that night he snuck back, dug up her grave and stole her body for research purposes. I remember he noted the great hostility of the natives when they discovered his theft and how he'd be unlikely able to return. I can't help being horrified at the thought of a Filipino actress adding to this horrible history of grave robbing and disrespecting the dead. To the colonialist mentality of taking spiritually important items and turning them into decorations. The level of disrespect is staggering. This is not the way to reconnect with our precolonial culture. I'm utterly horrified the more I look at this image and think about all the people who thought this was acceptable

Celebs aren’t renting jewelry. They’re actually brand partnerships being paid to wear the jeweler.

The larger jewelers with the more valuable pieces (Harry Winston, Tiffany’s, Cartier, etc.) are paying the actresses huge fees to wear their jewelry, six or seven figures for each wearing. They’re also paying for security and transportation - not for the actress, but for the jewelry. Which happens to be on the body of the actress/celebrity so she gets it too.

Because it’s merching, these companies want women who will make sales for them. They’re looking for brand ambassadors who are generally well-liked, noncontroversial, of the moment, and again, who can and will make sales for them.

Meghan doesn’t meet the criteria. She doesn’t attend the glam events that people pay attention to, so she’s not going to get Harry Winston his spotlight. She isn’t generally liked, she’s too controversial and not in a good way, people aren’t paying attention to her, she doesn’t have social media, and her merching record is the sales rack - she doesn’t move product (neither clothes nor magazine covers). She also can’t hold her own against other, more high-wattage celebs; in celebrity PR at events like this, Meghan is essentially one step up above a seat-filler. She’s easily and always outshined by someone else and that’s not what Harry Winston wants. Harry Winston wants their jewelry front and center and that’s why they pay the big bucks to the Emma Stones and Julia Robertses of the world.

Sure, Meghan would be an economical deal - ie her fees would probably be less than someone with actual talent and real fame (she had more notoriety than fame these days, I’d argue). But why save on a Meghan, who can’t even sustain a headline by herself, when for just a little bit extra you can get Taylor Swift bestie and opening act Sabrina Carpenter, who’s got Gen Z and the Alphas eating out of her hand and who’s a guaranteed ROI?

I’d bet Meghan can’t even get Harry Winston to take her calls and that’s why she wears the small indie jewelry brands, like Tobey Maguire’s ex’s company and all these one-off brands. Because they’re the only ones who’ll pay her because the only places she goes to are the Baby2Baby galas, which barely get coverage. Meghan probably thinks she’s doing them favors and tries to squeeze them for more money than she’s worth but those brands are happy to pay her because they want the attention she’ll bring them from Sussex Squad.

Weekly Summary October 20, 2023

Hi peeps, lots of stuff happened this week, so I'm going to do my weekly summary instead of individual posts or answering individual Asks. This is a LONG one, so grab a drink, and dive right in for: Ringgate, Sam and the City, and Sam and open letter and follow up statement. Also, starting tomorrow, I'll be off for the weekend, my man surprised me with a trip away to the beach before the weather starts to cool down.

Anyhooo, let's start off with something light. #ringgate. For different reasons some fans get verklempt when Sam wears jewelry, and panties definitely get twisted or wet, depending on who you are, when Sam dons RINGS. Sam wore the 2 rings he's been wearing lately during his appearance on Jimmy Fallon a few days ago. Sidenote: Samshine is EXTRA Samshiny is in this pic. Say what you want about him, but the man is BEAUTIFUL 👇

So, of course, Extreme Shippers are convinced Sam is "finally" wearing his wedding rings because he's married to Cait. Um, one small problem, Caitriona Mary Balfe is already married to Tony McGill. Some Non-Shippers get excited to see him wear rings because maybe it makes them think of when Sam WILL get married. There is something about a man wearing rings. I find it sexy as well. But, alas, these rings are on the right hand and Scottish people wear wedding rings on the left hand. Also, Sam's definitely NOT married to anyone since we've seen him linked to several women lately.

On to WHERE in New York had Sam been hiding. Everyone thought he had left and that his recent appearance on Jimmy Fallon had been taped earlier, until we saw THIS fan pic with him. 👇

My New York sources said he had not been seen at his usual hotel The Crosby. I'm putting out the name now just because EVERYONE knows that's where he stays in New York. He used to stay at The Bowery Hotel, but the last few years it's been The Crosby. None of the usual pic and autograph hounds got pics with him, so we assumed he wasn't staying there. All those hounds have contacts at the different hotels and restaurants frequented by celebs, so they would have been alerted to Sam staying there. Soooooo, if he wasn't at The Crosby, BUT he was in New York, THEN the possibilities are. He's aware too many fans know he stays at The Crosby, so he's switched hotels. Or he decided to rent an Airbnb instead. Or he stayed with friends. Or he does have a lady friend in New York, like some think, and he stayed with her. Who knows...but I'm sure we will find out...

Onto more serious matters. I'll preface this by saying I have made it a policy on my blog to NOT talk about anything political and to also not talk about any world events happening, which are upsetting. This blog is my escape from real life. So, I want to continue on that path. But I'm making an exception this time because based on the DMs an Anon Asks I'm getting there is some confusion as to why Sam posted this message on his social media. I just want to give people some clarity on it. And them move on. So, Sam posted this. 👇

It was in response to Sam and other mostly UK celebrities signing an open letter asking Israel to cease fire on Gaza, and explicitly claiming Pro-Palestine sentiments. If you click below, you will find an article on it and then keep scrolling down and you can read the actual letter. That's the letter Sam signed. A few days later, he clarified his feelings and regretted signing it because it doesn't represent fully what he meant. 👇

Here's the thing the history of Israel/Palestine is LONG and COMPLICATED. And most people haven't done enough research to know it fully. Most people go by sound bytes they see as they scroll social media. Or they give in to confirmation bias based on their political party, nationality, ethnicity, religion, affiliations etc.

I'm not going to get into the specifics because all of the information is easily accessible if anyone TAKES THE TIME TO RESEARCH AND READ THE HISTORY, both of Israel and Palestine...with an OPEN MIND.

The reason Sam got himself in trouble with signing the open letter and then the subsequent damage control message is that he didn't take the time to do his research. In extremely simplistic terms: Most of the UK, and in fact, most of Europe has traditionally been Pro-Palestine (except for European Jews, of course). The U.S. has traditionally been Pro-Israel and are allies. Up until recently that is. Due to the divisiveness in the US since the Trump era, Conservatives (Republicans) in the country became even more Pro-Israel, which then meant Liberals (Democrats) had to be the opposite. The rhetoric that Israel was the oppressor and Palestine was the oppressed grew louder. You had to pick one or the other. You couldn't take a step back and look at the history of the Jews being oppressed pretty much since Moses kept trying to get back to The Promised Land aka modern day Israel and Palestine. Or the Palestinians also being oppressed and their lands shrinking year by year.

The Jews have always been fucked over throughout history. And the Palestinians have always been fucked over, but especially since 1948 when modern day Israel was created. So, then, TERROR GROUP, Hamas decides, we're gonna fuck you over, Israel, REALLY BADLY, and engaged in some of the worst atrocities in recent times. No matter what anyone's beliefs are, when you saw what Hamas did (I'm not going to write the details because it's a horror show we all already know about) EVERYONE in the world should have said "Not today, Satan, not today," and DENOUNCED their savagery.

Hamas is NOT the Palestinian people, Hamas' ONLY goal is to terrorize and destroy. First the Jews, then their allies. Look up in the sky if you're in the US, one day a missile will be coming your way if they aren't stopped. After Hamas committed their savagery, Israel, understandably attacked back. They defended themselves from TERRORISTS trying to literally annihilate them. That was NOT the time to chant Free Palestine or write Free Palestine open letters. Just like after the murder of George Floyd, the Black Lives Matter movement came to the forefront in the US, but you had people countering "All Lives Matter!" Yes, all lives matter, but RIGHT NOW we're focusing on Black Lives, ya dopes. Breast Cancer awareness month. But what about Lung Cancer, Colon Cancer, they're important too?! Yes, but JFC, FOCUS people. Should Palestine be free from Israeli occupation, should they have more land? OF COURSE. But when the world SAW what Hamas did to HUMAN BEINGS, regardless of nationality or religion, the ONLY thing that should have been chanted is "DESTROY HAMAS." Hamas fucked things up for Palestinians, not just Israelis. And because of Hamas' actions, now Palestine is getting destroyed by Israel. And then Hamas will counter attack. And it will go on and on. There should be NO sides. There should only be ONE side, the HUMAN side.

So, when celebs seemingly "pick" a side, especially without considering the repercussions, they will get pushback. I love Sam and he's a good man, but he missed the mark on this one. Not through malice, but rather, naivete and ignorance. By cosigning that letter he didn't realize he wasn't simply signing a Pro-Palestine letter, he was simultaneously signing an Anti-Israel letter, Anti-Jews letter. And the reality is he alienated his Jewish fans, his more US conservative fans, his more centrist fans, assorted other fans...and I'm just going to state facts...he forgot WHO runs Hollywood, has always run Hollywood, and will always run Hollywood, including people who run Starz, as well as WHO are some of his agents, and publicists, hence the "better late than never" damage control quasi apology.

If you're wondering about MY stance: I feel badly for the Palestinian people and I feel badly for the Israeli people. There, that wasn't so hard to say, right? You CAN be Pro-Palestine AND Pro-Israel aka Pro-Humans. In the end, ALL HUMANS want the SAME basic things: food, clean water, shelter, safety and peace for their loved ones. To pick sides is to say that one set of people is more important than the other. And that can't be true. It isn't true. I pick the Human Side. Simple as that.

What bugs me about Markles pr and articles is that they ALWAYS make a point to state just how expensive her clothes are, or how they always need to brag about her connections to A-listers. ALWAYS. As if this makes her look/sound better somehow? Certainly not relatable.

There’s always other (actual) A-lister names involved in her articles, almost as if to prove to the readers that, hey, she must be a big deal if this A-lister is included in the article or is involved in whatever she is doing, or stayed at the same hotel previously that she is planning on staying at, etc, etc. it’s sooooo annoying. I see very few other celebs do this… mostly because they’re so famous they don’t need to hitch fame off someone else name.

And when it comes to her outfits or jewelry, they always have to include just how expensive her items are as if to say “hey, she really made it and is such a big deal because she can afford to spend $$$ on clothes.” Like, OK?

I see very few articles about other “candid” pap photos where they report on how much their outfits cost - unless it’s being included in a fashion mag or an outfit review is being done, etc. somewhere where the cost would be appropriate to include.

What even is the point? It’s so forced and hard to read because the cringe just gets to you.

Bleh. Yuck.

If there is anything I hate about modern “celebrity” or “influencer” culture, it is the bland-ass, cookie cutter clone wars of it all.

Like I’ve unfollowed and/or blocked so many social accounts these past few years, first, bc I hated the privilege I saw during a worldwide pandemic when people were dying, but now, because everyone is the. fucking. same.

They are all thin/ripped/hairless, (likely) rich, (likely) white, with the same exact clothing and accessories, on an “exotic” vacation to a “boutique” hotel pretending to be in a cabana (or on a boat? Why are so many people on rent-a-yachts?) with people who probably actively hate them. You could swap their faces and no one would ever know.

Seriously, so many people aged 18-45? have carbon copy lives and I’m so sick of it. I want weirdness. I want zhuzh. I want personal style back! And hills to die on! And causes to support!

This is brain rot, for real, it is no different than yuppie boomers all wanting the Cadillac and 2.5 kids in a big McMansion in the suburbs bullshit and I wanna talk about it but no one does.

Where are the rites of passage? The coming of age? The struggles? How are people affording this shit? Why do they waste their money being so bloody boring? Why does everyone look the same? With the same teeth, same lips, same fake tan, same hairstyle, same jewelry? It’s not just women, either, so many male celebs do this, too.

Go pick any hotel page on insta. Or an artist on tour. Or a festival. Click through the pictures. It’s like robot nation. Celebs or influencers “influencing” normies into being even more homogenous.

Does anyone even have fun anymore? With all the privilege and beauty and wealth, has the fun been forgotten?

Of course I am, her lil finger looks so naked without it! But IMO she has been so clear and consistent about how important L and her relationship to him is that I don’t question that part. My opinion sometimes goes back and forth about what kind of relationship they have chosen to have with each other, but not that it’s special and important to both of them. They both couldn’t have been more clear about that.
