this is a list of fics that are, well, long regardless of the trope and plot. for voracious readers who aren't satisfied with short-length writing. all these fics are considered holy grails because i don't read long fics if they aren't well-written. all fics are finished unless noted otherwise.

third wheeling by @untaemedqueen  i absolutely love everything about this. it's a lot of my favorite tropes in one giant fic. the characters are complex and fleshed out, the pacing is good, and i love the writing style. the smut is well-written and, though the catalyst for the plot, well-paced that it doesn't feel like a smut-centric fic.

suit & tie + drabbles by @jungshookz this is is a long fic but in bullet points, so i can only imagine how long this could've been if it was written in full sentences. another fic where yoongi does a 180°, but their dynamic is adorable from the beginning. not a lot of drama, a good fic to go back to if you want something lighthearted. you can probably tell by now that i love ceo fics.

desolate by @angelicyoongie this fic is long but has a very straightforward style of writing that's easy to follow and understand. it's one of the few hybrid fics i've read where they fight for a hybrid's right to freedom. i love how much yoongi opened up and changed throughout the fic. it's one of those fics where the idea of a hybrid isn't romanticized.

the deal by @untaemedqueen a great introduction to syndicate fics if you're looking for one. this is a chaptered fic that isn't too long and is easily digestible. it doesn't touch on mafia-esque activities so much. i have a thing for romance fics where the stone cold character evolves into a romantic, and this tickles that itch.

balletteacher!jimin x ballerina!reader by @jungshookz ✒️ this bullet point mini-series should be considered a full series already, considering the length of each drabble and how many of them exist. this is a forbidden romance between a teacher and a student with different personalities, so it's interesting and endearing how they developed their feelings over time.

i want to be with you by @oddinary4bts

a lengthy oneshot of strangers-turned-lovers and how love grows slowly between two people who are worlds apart. very well-written, i dreaded how quickly i finished reading it. i love how human jimin is in this fic. the oc is very relatable as well—very realistic and not overtly romanticized. i can easily identify myself in her if i were in her shoes.

maybe i do by @chateautae another fic that is a mix of my favorite tropes. this fic has fewer but longer chapters. another smut-filled fic that doesn't feel overworked and serves as a good break between dramatic scenes. i love how both characters developed throughout the story.

please love me by @ahundredtimesover i loved the complexity of the characters and how they navigated through their situation. they both had to do a lot of growing up in this fic, and it was done in a well-paced manner. the drabbles also give a lot of insight to this universe. i go back and read the drabbles a lot.

evolution of a lover's heart by @jeonstudios

a heartwrenching masterpiece. i waited a long time for this to be finished, and it did not disappoint at all. one of the most emotional and resonating fics i've read so far. my heart feels for both of them so much. the kind of love that people wish they would have.

the boy with galaxies in his eyes by @oddinary4bts

an emotionally captivating and heartwrenching oneshot that i never expected to read. both characters were well-written and well-fleshed out, it was easy to fall in love with them and understand their actions. the writing itself was really magical too—flowed so smoothly, it didn't feel as long as it actually was. an absolute hidden gem that everyone should read!

4-7-8 by @jiminrings

not the longest of fics, but a great read nonetheless. i read this a while back, and it was only after i reread it that i was able to truly appreciate the characters and their development. it has a very realistic plot that tugs at my heartstrings. everyone deserves this kind of partner and love.

if you love the concept of alternate universes and soulmates, this is a must read. the author utilized scientific concepts that i had a hard time grasping and, at the same time, supported the plot really well. i'm so glad i came across this fic.

sanguis duology + (ongoing) oneshots by @borathae absolute monster of a fic, probably one of the longest ones i've read. even though i was annoyed at mc's stubborness, i think it was a driving force throughout the fic. i also never imagined the pairings in this, but i enjoyed the ride. there were some parts where i felt the author could've woven details better to make the story smoother, but it's charming in the sense that i need to think and connect the dots from previous chapters.

a place called home by @agustdakasuga i keep re-reading this fic every few years. i loved how each hybrid came into her life and how they eventually stayed. i also appreciate how each hybrid's personality isn't necessarily stereotypical. great pacing in each chapter, good to read if you like chaptered fics that aren't very long.

the road to you by @bonvoyagenoona

a slow burn masterpiece. this fic is a rollercoaster of experiences that is complemented by terrific writing and pacing. it's very instrospective, which is something i personally like. it has a little bit of everything and a good amount of smut, but it all works wonderfully together, the words flew by quickly.

BangSeon Corporate/Chaebol AU

Was looking through the divine google doc of unfinished wips yesterday and came upon my plan for a chaebol au fic. Since I couldn't get the idea out of my head, 5 1/2 hours of poor time management later, this art was born:

Initially, the idea behind the fic was to have Seon-ho secretly form an alliance with Bang-won—one of the top candidates for the CEO Position in Yi Group—to take down Nam Group—Yi Group’s prime competitor—which is headed by none other than Nam Jeon.

Of course, Bang-won isn't trusting of Seon-ho at first (Mainly because when they first met, Seon-ho had broken into his apartment to steal some documents from him. Oh. And he had a knife. So definitely not a good first impression). But he accepts his help in exchange for giving him access to specific documents & not calling up his armed security right away ('cause honestly like hell Bang-won is gonna let his little half-brother take that CEO Position from him). By working together with Seon-ho, he'll make a significant contribution to the company's future. The board will most definitely back him as the next leader.

A few months go by as they work on their plan. The more time they spend together, they realise that each other's presence is equally as infuriating as it is arousing.

At some point, they're both invited to some high society dinner along with their families but they were SO not expecting to see each other there. Bang-won sees Seon-ho out of his usual dark hoodies and sweats for the first time and his brain short-circuits. Though, he is a bit pissed off that Seon-ho didn’t tell him he’d be there. Seon-ho shares the sentiment. They have to pretend they don't know each other as if they haven’t spent the last 3 months working together on their plan.

Bang-won suggests they go chat somewhere more private do they duck into the first empty room they can find. As soon as the door closes, Bang-won cornering Seon-ho against the wall.

Words burst out of his throat before he can stop himself. “What the hell are you doing here?"

Seon-ho pushes forward and into his personal space. “I was invited dumbass.”

“You’ll blow our cover.”

“If I recall, you’re the one who asked to speak to me here."

Bang-won laughs, mirthless and condescending. "Because you were talking to the damn man we've been looking into since we started this thing. Wasn't it obvious how fucking stupid that was of you?"

"Oh I'm the stupid one, now am I?!" Seon-ho juts his chin forward and then there are barely inches between their faces. "God you’re so infuriating sometimes I just want to-”

“to what?”

Cue both internal monologues of their Anthony Bridgerton feels aka bane of my existence talk.

And then their lips are smashing together in a kiss. Heated make out session, hand fisting in shirt, teeth clacking. Both trying to devour the other basically.

1 gratuitous minute later, there's a knock at the door making them spring apart.

(I wouldn't say Lucifer au is a crossover bc I literally just based myself on the whole idea of celestial beings and whatnot. maybe it's a bible crossover??)

not that I am aware of, and I fucking hope not!!

I've had a request for it, but I'm not sure if the person is still thinking about it or what's going on. it would be an honour!!

YES!!!! THE JUSTLY FIC!!!!!!! I love this fic so much and I love justi so much (debatable, we are in our enemies phase right now so I don't think I can say that in public) and it was SO MUCH FUN and I love writing with friends and I sure want to do it again!!! (friends..... if you want..... you know where to find me...... 😏😏)

definitely piarles. I will sometimes venture myself into other ships (especially if I want to write for a fren and I don't mind that ship)

I don't have any published work that's unfinished bc I keep myself on a very tight leash about wips. if I start posting it, bet that I already have at least half of that story written and the rest is already meticulously planned. I have a few half-finished wips on my docs tho, but if I stop writing it's usually bc it's not bringing me any joy anymore. the nanny x ceo tho.... I stopped that one bc I got a bit depresso espresso at the time and life got busy as shit but I want to finish it so badly.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I ask myself that every day kkkkkkkkkkk I guess the fact that I can write really quickly? like if I have an idea I can just write down a whole 10k in like. 2 or 3 days.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

first of all I can't shut the fuck up. I have to restrain myself when I want to write anything less than 5k. im not sure if it's a weakness per se but yeah.

I also am very aware I have issues with describing the locations and with ending a fic. like. I never fucking know how to.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I don't mind when it's specific words or the occasional phrase and there's a translation to it. other than that, I won't lie, I kindof despise it. I can't speak, for example, Italian, so what is the point of reading a fic where the whole dialogue is in Italian if I won't understand shit?

19. First fandom you wrote for?

A Lesser Dragon by ScribeOfReaper

Dragoon's learn many things from their namesake. Many of their techniques and traditions are derived from the dragons. Pride not least among them. A shame that no one told them; pride cometh before a fall.

It's really a shame that so little is done with Clive's Imperial Slave name. Like, what was the purpose of it? Why did it never come up again? How did he get that name? This fic provides answer to at least some of that, and is just a fun and well-written fic!

to kill fate by godblues

Ifrit is not the only thing that awakens on the night that Phoenix Gate burns, and bonds of consciousness manifest in ways Ultima never expected.

Unfinished :( but, still fun to read! I love big messy soulmate bonds, which is more or less what this is - all of the eikons have this kind of mental link to each other. It's inspired by Sense8, which I've never watched but know the general premise of. The relationships I feel are really fun and interesting, including some pairings I've either never considered or liked done in a different way.

Chains of Fate by ScribeOfReaper

In the Aftermath of Phoenix Gate, Anabella finds a most precious treasure. One that will not only guarantee her position as Empress and ensure the preservation of her line, but one that proves the power of her noble blood. For who else can lay claim to being the mother of not one, but two Dominants.

Unfinished but updates ~weekly. A very good and clearly well thought out alternate version of events where Clive is taken to Sanbreque with Anabelle bc she knows he's a dominant. The politics are so fascinating to read about! The different sides only grow more interesting, and the author just very clearly knows what they're doing - my best memory is getting to a part and feeling like ':( man this is hard on Clive I wish he had at least *some* support' AND LOW BEHOLD HE GOT IT RIGHT THEN!

These Things Are True by nightspear

After surviving the tragic fire that killed his father and brother, fifteen-year-old Clive Rosfield moves in with his mother and her new husband, the CEO of Bahamut Industries. Following a report from a concerned doctor six months later, Clive is taken into foster care and sent to stay with a man named Cid Telamon. Injured and grieving, Clive struggles to find his footing in a new home while his mother and stepfather fight for his return.

Top tier. Unfinished but updates ~weekly, and I *think* it's finished, just being posted spread out. One of those fics that could be read by someone with no knowledge of the fandom and you'd still get an amazing read and experience out of it. These kind of fics make me think of BDG's explanation of the commedia dell'arte, where the characters names foretell the role and relationships they'll have in the story, but again you could read this w/o having played FFXVI - And you should! Golden characteriation, relationships, distinct voices for each character, I'm eating this up and every update I am screaming and cheering and tearing through it!

The girl snuffled, trembling and pale and waiflike enough that Cid half expected that she would be carried away with the fading autumn leaves – and when Cid hoisted her up and placed his hand against the small of her back, it almost swallowed her entirely.

Short but cute oneshot of Cid finding Mid. There's a tragic lack of Mid fics, and it was just so nice to read one about Cid getting wrapped around her finger immediately <3

Second Flight of the Fledgling by Ghostline

As Joshua surrendered the Phoenix to his brother he felt the cold of death upon him, and Clive's fiery wings were the last thing he ever expected to see. He did not expect to wake in his brother's arms 18 years earlier, prior to the Night of Flames. Whether by Ultima, his brother, or Metia's divine grace, he had been gifted a chance to right the wrong that had torn his brother from him.

Unfinished by a couple chapters. There's a great many time travel fics in the fandom, but I am also rather picky when it comes to time travel, and this is the only one that's really scratched the itch I've been looking for. It's told mostly through POVs that are not Joshua, which I feel like works very strongly in its favor. The reactions of other characters is exactly what you want them to be and does not disappoint. Also has a great explanation for 'time traveled character in their younger counterpart, which one are they' that will stick with me forever I think and influence how I write some time travel fics.

Queen of Blood and Snow by AnxieteaAndCake

Jill approached the table, putting on the guise she resentfully called “the pretty little doll”. She walks, she even talks! She rarely thinks for herself, however, and never ruffles feathers! And so pretty! It was a cloak she’d donned many times in her life: in Rosaria, on the Iron Islands, even at the Hideaway before she’d finally become comfortable there. She hated it. It was like putting on rancid animal skins: unpleasantly slick on her skin and cloying in her nose.

A good fic that plays with two things that the game should have and never did: the fact that Gav is also a Northerner, and that Jill presumably still has a family or at least Kingdom that she could visit, if not try to make home once more should she wish. In general, Jill's situation with the Rosfields and how that'd impact her and her family is underutilized. This fic utilizes it! There are some things I'd change or tweak, and I can never get enough Gav, but I still think it's a great exploration of Jill going home - if it can even be called that anymore.

Joshua wakes up in the Year of the Realm 860, confused but with knowledge of the future he should not have. With time, he will find that he is not the only one. or One by one, the dominants in the past come to remember a future that will never exist.

Wh-what??? How embarrassing, how did this get here? But of course I'm gonna rec my own fic. Have you ever read a time travel fic and were like 'gee, I wish this only focused on each character remembering the future and their immediate reactions to that kind of knowledge', then you're in luck bc that's what this is! It does have something of forward momentum, as there's a short time skip between each chapter, and you get to see how some things change bc of the Dominants remembering things.

a/n: So this fic isn't finished but I kinda think it wants to be its own longer fic??? anyways here's what I've got so far.

Rose was not one of those women that dressed for men.  She dressed with a purpose in mind.  When she was a ceo she dressed to feel confident.  There had been a brief mention of getting a stylist for interviews and that seemed like a waste. But nowadays since Rose took consulting gigs it seemed like she only wanted to dress up for the interview.  The rest of the time she would wear whatever was clean in her closet.  There was one exception of course.  

That exception was Peter.  He loved to see her in his shirts and his sweatshirts.  In fact whenever he had a weekend off or was in town for longer Rose didn’t bother packing much because she loved wearing his clothes.  Of course he’d taken to complaining that when she gave his clothes back it all smelled of her detergent and faintly of her coconut body butter. Sometimes it was a long time between their rendezvous, the longest being this trip for five months.  The mission was so dangerous that his handlers wouldn’t even let Rose come to him at a predetermined halfway point.  They did have emails though.  Peter would email her up to three times in a week.  Lately though?  The last thing he said in his email was, “do you still have your aunt’s cabin?”  

To which Rose had replied, “Of course, you want to meet there next?”   

Still no reply from peter but Rose made sure to wash all his 4 sweatshirts in woolite and started putting them on right after she showered and put some coconut body butter on.  It made her a little sad that Peter’s stuff didn’t smell like him anymore but the thought that he’d be able to smell like her for a while made her smile mischievously.

“When are you off next?”  Rose sent via email after a week had gone by.  Still no reply for days.  Asleep one night Rose was awakened by Peter’s special ringtone. (think of a good ringtone for Peter here).  Rose reached for her bedside clock it read half past midnight. She needed to find her phone or her laptop.

“I know its late notice but are you off tomorrow?  My assignment ended abruptly so I can be at your aunt’s cabin by noon tomorrow!”

regarding your post about roxie teaching everything she knew, YOU ARE DEFINITELY NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS THOUGHT OF IT /POS

that information from the comics has not left my mind FOR YEARS and it just makes me crazy in so many levels because i’m so stuck on imagining ramona and roxie, i’ve basically assigned myself as their ceo for how long i’ve had them in my head

theres so little fics of them, and the fics that are there before spto barely touches upon anything deeper in their relationship than the surface things

and yes, you are so real and right because i truly believe that roxie also thought ramona skating. that out of all ramona’s relationship, that one with roxie couldve been a “forever” and i will stand by that

You're actually so true for this, the lack of fanfiction exploring them is kinda sad, I also checked both for spto and sp in general and found very few fics that didn't really handle any of the deeper topics that could be there to explore in their relationship.

And I agree so much with you, I may not have been thinking about it for years, but I agree with the sentiment completely.

Ramona and Roxie and their college years has so much potential for character study, both for Ramona and Roxie and how they met, all their time back then, how they fell apart, everything regarding that part of their lives would be SOOO good, and given the fact of Roxie having taught Ramona everything makes it all the more intriguing. Now with the new show validating the idea that in fact their relationship was a serious relationship (even if it was in the comics, but yk on subtext) I expected people to get even more excited or interested in exploring all the possibilities with them.

And yes I wasn't sure if I was right, but Roxie teaching Ramona to skate or at least skating through Subspace it's worth exploring alright, I just need a fic, anything that delves into it.

Not to mention Roxie is canonically an artist, she was gonna open an art gallery and Ramona was going to go mind you, I mean wouldn't it be interesting to explore that part of Roxie's character? She was not only an artist but a successful one, I'm guessing (I don't remember if it is ever mentioned) that in college she studied something related. It's really interesting how much we get to know about Roxie from just small bits of dialogue, I wished all this could be further explored in fics

Roxie teaching Ramona how to skate would be such a fun idea, and I've got this little headcanon their first kiss was inside the subspace.

And yeah, refreshing AO3 in hopes for something 🙏 and getting disappointed.

I'm so glad there's people out there who've seen that potential, In general I find the exes so interesting (obvs specially Roxie) like even outside spto there's details in the comics that make them interesting with a lot of possible character exploration, and their dynamic with Ramona.

I hope that eventually more Roxie x Ramona character studies will pop up on AO3 🤞

What fandoms do you write for? Currently only for MDZS, but I've also written for Boueibu.

What are your top 5 fics by kudos? "All men are the same" MDZS nieyao. A comedy of errors where JGS tries to get NMJ and JGY married but it's all a misunderstanding with each one having his own version of what's going on. "Strong roots for a pine" MDZS nieyao. Accidental baby acquisition by MY keeping the baby he found during the war and changing his decisions and priorities. "Brother, don't preach" MDZS sangcheng, 3zun. Modern omegaverse with NHS getting accidentally pregnant during one of JC's visits and 3zun caring for him until JC returns from studing in another city. "To hold your hand and let it guide me" MDZS nieyao. Extra scene of 'All men are the same' where JGY is back in Qinghe and the dumbasses finally confess their feelings. "When the fire plays with you" MDZS ruoyao. After some tabloid headlines, CEO WRH convinces his temporary assistant MY to troll the entire city via a fake relationship. MY gets much more than he bargained for.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? Yes, I do! Bc if the reader has gone out of their way to let me know that they appreciate my story, the least I can do is letting them know in turn that I appreciate their support ^^.

What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Whoo, this took me down some memory lanes lol. That'd be "Say you love me like you mean it", a Boueibu akorima vampire AU where one doesn't remember their past lives as lovers.

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? That's a very good question bc most my stuff has a happy, or at least a hopeful ending. I don't really think there's one that's particularly happier than the rest :P.

Do you get hate on fics? Not yet, which I'm very grateful for.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Technically, the answer is yes, but this far it has only been in convos with very close friends and just one tame-ish scene. I do have fics that will be E tho.

Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I don't really write crossover.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? I'm credited as co-author in "Going digital", a Boueibu Digimon AU, but it was @magiccatprincess doing the actual writing, I just helped plot it ^^;.

What's your all-time favorite ship? I can't say I have an all-time fave bc my level of how much I love it changes every time I change hyperfixations. But in my current fandom I'd say nieyao, bc it was one of the first ships I fell for and it is still one I'm hella into, like a default.

What's a wip that you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Ooh boy. I have lots of wips that I do intent on finishing one day, but tbh I fear that I'll get obsessed with another thing before I can get to them orz.

What are your writing strenghts? I guess that when I am inspired and very obsessed I can write a lot in a relatively short time, and I can adapt and improvise as I go. I've made plot critical changes in the middle of a story that was already getting posted without it showing too much lol.

What are your writing weaknesses? My aforementioned dependence on my level of obsession for a fic to get completed. If another fandom catches my eye and heart while I have unfinished fics, those are done for. My motivation for a previous fandom is pretty much non-existent when I'm neck deep into another thing, all my energy is now poured into new fandom with new fics and ideas.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? Not a big fan of it and I don't really do it beyond names or expressions ('et tu', 'touché', etc.)

First fandom you wrote for? Boueibu.

Favorite fic you've ever written? This answer also changes depending on what fandom I'm in at the moment. But rn I'd say "Black hole sun", a MDZS alternative Guanyin temple scene with fierce corpse WRH bc I like the instrospection I do in JGY's character and choices (and also him getting to live :')))).

Beautiful descriptions, beautiful dialogue, and there's beautiful fanart inspired by it as well!

Chrysalis by kaseyskat. Grips everyone reading this by their shoulders. Listen to me. If you like transfem Sparrow. If you hate transfem Sparrow. If you've been contemplating the idea of transfem Sparrow. READ THIS. Literally THE transfem Sparrow fic of all time, written by my dearest friend Nyx! Sparrow babygirl you are everything to me!!!!! Cocoa Talk by Anonymous. I have, obviously, NO idea who this author is but I'm kissing them very gently on the forehead for this fic /p. It takes place immediately after the FBI/debate mini-arc and it explores some lingering trauma Link has from being questioned by Schmegan. BIG tws for discussion of sexual assault, but this is really, really well done, and I absolutely adore how the teens are all written here - all distinctly protective of each other in their own ways.

Memories by SandrC. Woah, a season 1 fic??? In my recs??? More likely than you'd think! REALLY fun au concept in which Barry fucks really badly with his son's memory in the Oakvale arc and the only thing Henry can do is escape back to earth. Without anyone else and without his memories. Mercedes and the moms deal with the fallout. This fic is unfinished; however, it occupies such a large space in my mind that I HAD to put it on here. Lots of angst, lots of comfort (or at least attempts at comfort), and a very fun divergence from how Lark and Sparrow turn out in canon as well.
