settled down on the sofa, you flick through the endless shows and movies on netflix, fighting back tears threatening to spill from your eyes. you sniffle as someone catches your eye, walking into the room. ellie, followed by abby, walk in, their hands behind their backs. they both sit either side of you, facing you.

“hi, baby. whatcha doin’?” ellie asks, leaning in to place a kiss on your cheek. you lean back into abby’s chest, her arm wrapping around your waist.

“lookin’ for movie. what you got?” you ask, leaning up to look behind both of the girls. they gasp, hiding it even more, making you smile. you look up at abby, frowning.

“mama? mama tell me? please?” you ask more, your bottom lip stuck out. she shakes her head, kissing your forehead.

“know you’ve had a bad day, baby, so your mama and i wanted to make you feel a little better. wanna see what we got?” abby says, making you nod quickly. they both bring their hands in front of you, showing you what they got. abby holds a stuffed pink bunny in her hands and ellie holds boxes of muffins, cookies and a whole fruit salad consisting of strawberries, watermelon, grapes, mango - everything!!

your eyes widen as you tackle abby into a hug, then the same to ellie.

“woah- baby! careful! crazy girl,” ellie exclaims, kissing all over your face. you giggle, sitting back on abby’s lap, the bunny on your own.

“thank you, mama!” you kiss abby’s cheek.

“thank you, mama!” you kiss ellie’s cheek.

you sit back on the sofa, your bunny in your lap and your mamas by your sides, cuddled under your blankets.

“ooh! i love this episode!” ellie says as the fifth episode of your show came on.

“mama, you say that after every one! silly,” you giggle, leaning your head against abby’s shoulder. taking a cookie from the box, you hold it up to abby’s mouth. she takes a bite and then so do you.

“feeling any better, baby?” she asks as you nod, cuddling into her warm body.

• he would hesitate to try the other side of being a little at first but then, he would absolutely love it

• loves to be called any pet name you can think of, but especially “mikey bear” or a “good boy”

• speaking of good boys, you can shower him in any sort of praise and his metaphorical tail would start wagging (he claims he’s a cat person but he’s very puppy coded)

• definitely has a certain comfort object (i.e. a stuffie) that he brings absolutely everywhere with him. if it has to be washed by you, he stands outside the washing machine and watches it until it’s done. he doesn’t have a collection of things or anything because he still realizes that money can be tight for you and him

• he would cuddle that stuffie to sleep since his tiredness would still translate over to being a little. please let him take a nap!

• still recognizes abby as his sister (big or little one depending on how old he regresses to) and includes her and you in all of his drawings

• claims he’s too old (no matter how old he regresses to) to hold your hand anywhere but you still end up holding hands even after he’s said it

• I don’t think he would regress to too young, maybe around 10 or whatever age he was when garrett went missing

• will shyly ask for physical affection like hugs and kisses from you, he’d never fully admit it but he would love to be smothered in your care and affection

• either calls you by your name or “mama” or “papa”

• I headcanon him as autistic and I think he would lean into stimulating himself more when he’s feeling younger. especially rocking on his feet, flapping his hands, always fiddling with his stuffie, etc etc

• loves to help you cook or bake anything, I think he cares about feeling useful around the house and wouldn’t always mind doing chores (if he’s not tired)

“mama,” you tap on abby’s arm softly, wanting her attention. she smirks, still facing forward towards the tv. you’re sat in between her legs on your shared bed, abby’s finger’s tracing shapes along your back.

“i know what you’re going to ask, baby. i’m not telling you. christmas is two days away. you can wait,” she smiles down at you, sighing as you whine into her chest. every day for the past month, you’ve been asking and asking abby about christmas. what did she get you? what did nora get you? what did mel get you? does abby want to know what you got her?

“but- please! won’ tell anyone!” you say, looking up at abby through your eyelashes. she shakes her head, picking you up to sit you on her lap. “i’m not telling you, baby, but, you can help me wrap everyone else’s presents, if you’d like,” she offers, making you snap your head up to look at her, nodding feverishly.

you’re both now sat in front of each other, on the floor of your bedroom, the presents piled up next to you. you hand abby the presents and she wraps them, it’s a good system.

“who’ this for, mama?” you ask, passing abby a squeaky chew toy. “this one is for alice. you like it?” you hum in agreement, leaning over to squeak it a couple times. you close your eyes and pick up the next present, opening your eyes to look at it. you wave the shark plushie up at abby, her nose in it’s mouth.

“hey!!! off my mama!!!” you gasp, dropping the shark.

“oopsies..” you whisper picking it back up. you gasp once more, feeling abby’s hands on your cheeks and her lips all around your face. you giggle loudly, wiggling on her lap.

“mama!! mama, stop!!! mama, i busy, no kissin’!” you exclaim, abby pulling away slightly. “but you’re my baby! cutest little baby!! my baby!!” she says back, kissing all over your face once more and you wriggle around in abby’s lap, hitting her chest lightly in a fit of giggles. she pulls away, looking at you seriously.

“okay, we gotta finish these presents now,” she says, looking over your shoulder to the mountain of presents that are yet to be wrapped. “mama, you the one that distractin’ us,” you laugh, reaching for another present to give to abby, now situated on her lap. “mama, sleepy. go to sleep? ‘s nap time?” you whisper, your eyes fluttering shut, leaning against abby’s chest. she leans down to whisper back to you. “can go to sleep if you want, baby. want me to put you back in bed?” you shake your head. “wan’ stay with mama.”

abby gasps as she steps into your bedroom, looking at your pale, sleeping face. you had mentioned that you weren’t feeling too great before, and she wanted to come check up on you. she sits down next to you, stroking your face gently. she places her palm on your forehead, frowning at the heat coming from your head. you flinch slightly at her touch, waking up.

“hi, my baby. how are you feeling?” she asks softly, watching you sit up. you shake your head, reaching for abby’s hand to hold in your lap. “not good, mama. my head hurtin’” you whisper, climbing into abby’s lap. she pouts down at you, kissing your forehead. “poor baby. you hungry? have you eaten at all?” she asks softly, you shake your head. “not hungry. jus’ want sleep,” you say, your head against abby’s chest. “you’re really warm, baby. stay here, okay? i’ll be back in a minute,” abby whispers back down at you. your eyebrows furrowed, you look up at her as she lays you back down against your pillows. “mama? where you goin’? no, have to stay here, mama,” your voice is hoarse and you finish your sentence with a cough. “just going to get you something, okay? won’t be long.”

minutes pass and you hear the familiar, heavy footsteps coming up the stairs, making you sit up quickly. abby enters the room, holding a mug and a plate of buttered toast. she hands them to you. “you eat these and drink this, baby, and i’m going to get changed and we can cuddle and watch all the movies you’d like, okay?” you nod and place the plate on your lap and the mug on your bedside table. half a slice gone, you pick up the mug, unsure of what’s inside. your nose scrunches in disgust as you take a sip. “mama? mama! mama, this ‘gusting!” you call out, wincing at the pain in your throat. abby rushes back in at your shouting. “what-what’s up, baby? you okay? hurting?” she says frantically, sitting next to the bed, placing her hand on your forehead, your back, your chest, searching for an up in your temperature or something that indicates you’re getting more unwell. you look up at her, your jaw clenched together. “what this? mama, it ‘gusting. poisoning me?” your eyes narrow as she sighs, her face falling into your lap. she comes back up, deadpan. “it’s tea, baby. need to drink it to make your throat better,” she says, defeated when you shake your head and place it back on your bedside table.

she climbs into bed with you, immediately pulling you into her chest. “what should we watch?” she asks, handing you the tv remote. “hmmm…tangled?” you put the movie on and lay back, your headache getting softer and quickly going away. abby always makes u feel better <333

christmas eve

cinnamon and apple fills the air of your shared living room as you place the final present under the tree. “all done!” you exclaim, lifting your arms up at abby. she picks you up, resting you on her hip. “well done, baby!” she says, pressing a kiss on your temple. you yawn softly, gently rubbing your eye with the back of your hand. “sleepy, baby?” abby asks, pouting as you nod and hide your face in the crook of her neck. “can’t be sleepy yet! still have things to do and things to put out for santa!” she tickles the side of your tummy, making you jump and wiggle in her hold. “mama! not even sleepy..” you whisper, cutting yourself off with another yawn. “yeah, okay, sleepy girl.”

“stand back, baby.” abby bends down to open the oven, getting out the tray of cookies you two had baked previously out of the oven. you swing your legs as you sit on top of the counter, taking sips of your warm milk. abby turns around, gasping. “hey! hands off, missy. that is for santa..” she says, pretending to be serious, making you giggle. “this is no laughing matter! can’t have my baby on the naughty list, can i?” that stops your giggles. “no, mama! i’m not on the naughty list, am i? want santa to get me a kitty..” you say worriedly, looking up at abby who now feels a little guilty. she shakes her head, picking you up. “no, baby. you’re the bestest little baby. my bestest little baby,” she says, kissing all over your face, making you giggle once more. “should we go get our pyjamas on? get ready for bed?” abby asks, taking you both into your bedroom to put on your new matching christmas pyjamas!! “look at you, baby! look so cute, come here,”she says lovingly, picking you back up and spinning you both around. “matchin’!” you exclaim, looking at both you and abby in the mirror.

abby places a plate next to your fireplace, and a glass of milk next to it. you put 3 cookies onto the plate before looking up at your mama. “i have a cookie, please, mama?” you ask gently, tugging on abby’s index and middle finger softly. she leads you to the kitchen, feeding you a cookie and filling up your bottle with milk. “ready for bed, baby?” she asks, placing a kiss on your forehead as you nod. when you’re in your bedroom, abby tucks you in, laying bedside you with two books in her hands. she asks you which one you’d like for your bedtime story. you choose ‘how the grinch stole christmas’, your favourite ever.

as abby reads the story, your eyes begin to feel heavy with sleep as your breathing matches with hers.
