For the people of Atlas, warmth is a long forgotten dream and dawn only occurs in those few short months of Winterwane, when the ice melts just a little at the edges. During the rest of the year in Winterwax the land is dawnless and bleak; and the Winter King hunts. There used to be four seasons, and four Monarchs to command them, keeping the world in balance. But Winter grew resentful, covetous, and soon, the other Monarchs were dead, their heirs, fate-plucked from any path of life as needed, were hunted. And Atlas fell into Everwinter.

The merfolk died first, imprisoned beneath their frozen rivers and lakes. Then the trolls of the wood disappeared, their trees gone dead with eternal sleep and all that was green long since withered away. Finally, the elves retreated, burying the entrances to their caves and setting themselves free of winter. Only humans remained, stubbornly surviving the cold and the creatures of ice and snow that thrived under the Winter King's reign.

Hundreds of years in the Everwinter has slowly killed Atlas. But fate is not easily ignored. Winter will end, even if it must end in fire.

- CHARACTERS -

Romi; Romi has three jobs within her caravan, mind the pups, the next generation of sled and guard dogs unique to her people. Hone her craft, every Vandri has a craft, something that can help in any settlement they come across in their travels and Romi is the best hunter in her generation. And above all else, keep Willim safe. She must keep him safe. So when Willim falls through a crack in the earth on an expedition to find some missing hunters, Romi has no choice but to follow. Right into a long forgotten Elf Burrow and a fate left dormant for hundreds of years.

Willim; Willim has one job in his caravan. Stay alive. Ever since he and his sister were born, he has been ill, cursed to feel the cold deeper than most in a world ensconced in snow. Too weak to contribute to the caravan physically, he has been hidden away with the Elders, tasked with teaching the history and song of the Vandri and not much else. And, as Romi has continuously been given duty where Willim has received nothing but pity, the itch to prove himself has been getting more painful. But when his first opportunity ends in disaster, almost killing both he and his sister, Willim finds that responsibility is a heavy thing indeed. Willim is the catalyst, the spark igniting the destruction of everything he knows, one way or another, change is coming. There's no turning back.

Theyra Una'Liendewel; Theyra has no love for humans, the Winter King was human, once, and her people have long said it was that humanness that doomed the surface to their long cold. A guardian of the gates, Theyra has witnessed many a breach from the surface, the Winter King's army grown stronger as winter endures, tasked with leaving no part of Atlas free from his icy rule, and she has quelled every intrusion from the surface with ruthless efficiency to protect her people. But when a pair of humans breach the Underald on Theyra's watch, and for the first time in hundreds of years the song of Summer echoes through the Underald's halls, Theyra must lay down her blades and listen. Fate is calling.

It has become custom for them to spend the night at his place. They feel as if they might as well live more with him than in their own home but they’re still a bit scared to actually take that step. It feels earlier than usual this morning that they’re hearing him get out of the shower. “Did you seriously already come back from the gym?” Romi turns around, still fully snuggling in the blanket, half a mind to ignore his answer and go back to sleep but they catch his eye and instead that wish turns into hoping he’ll come back into bed with them. “You’re insane, Bennani.”

I saw the doodle before finishing reading, and I had the biggest wheeze with the Ephemer hopeless romantic take on the handkerchief bc of Charis expression it was gold but then I got sad bc of couse you gave Ephemer matching scars to player (ФωФ) i love theb detail tho

You know me too well, Romy 😄🩵 I do have some ideas about everything. Not all the details, but enough to talk about it! I’ll talk about it under the cut since this’ll probably end up being a bit long [apologies to everyone if the read more doesn’t work, it can be hit or miss on mobile]

Okay! Let’s get into this!!!

The ceremony takes place in the morning, at the eastern beach, the same place where Charis and Ephemer (technically) first met. And it’s the place that would’ve faced Daybreak Town directly. It’s an intimate event, consisting of just their family, close friends and some of their apprentices. Hestia officiates it, and they hold a reception(/ball maybe?) at the academy that’s more open to the general public.

I actually plan on drawing their wedding attire eventually! I don’t have them designed yet, but what I can tell you right now is that it’s not like irl wedding attire. And they’d both have their hair down, as part of Cablean tradition. Whenever I draw them, you’ll be the first to know! 😊

As for Brain…I do wonder if there’ll be anything written about him, since ML is called “the forgotten era”. But if Eph IS able to read about him…there’d be a lot of mixed feelings. He’d be overjoyed knowing that Brain arrives in Scala, in the very same place he’s built a home and a new life in. But it would also break his heart realizing that he won’t be around to see that day, because it’s too far in the future. He won’t see Brain again…but he finds comfort in knowing that he’ll at least be able to make preparations for him.

You know what’s funny about your doodle observation? I made that ch 11 doodle for fun. But then I actually sat down and started thinking about how an actual proposal would happen…and so OoA was born! 😄 The doodle literally did come true, sorta.

The rumours of Max to Mercedes is sending me though, it would be hilarious (and it wouldn't make any sense when you see the Mercedes vs the Redbull), but the thought of having max and george as teammates... These two would crash each other out probably more than brocedes in the peak of the silver war, it would be very funny.

"I'M HAPPY"

few weeks went by and chris and romi found themselves closer to one another each day that passed. they hung out with each other, go on cute dates together, laugh with one another; it's almost like they're dating already.

there is just one thing that's left to do, and that's for chris to finally ask romi.

"chris! babe, you really need to ask romi to be your girlfriend!"

the male frowns as he looks up from his breakfast. there are no others in the kitchen or the house apart from the triplets. he thought he was the only one, since it was only six in the morning, but turns out that nick and matt are awake too. alahna had probably slept over with nick as there would be no logical explanation as to why she would be here so early.

"babe?" the male asks no one in particular, but alahna calling him by that nickname really makes him wonder various things. but mostly, why?

"oh!" the brown-haired girl says, plopping down on the chair opposite of chris. "i'm sorry, chris. i'm so used to calling romi by that name that i call almost everyone that."

alahna grimaces by those words, "i even found myself calling makai that yesterday. that was... let's say it was a weird experience. i've never seen him madder in my entire life, i guess."

"you and makai aren't a match, just saying," matt says, then taking a seat down next to alahna and looking at her. "plus, as an answer to your words; i do think i've seen makai even madder than yesterday. do you remember that fight that you and him had a couple of months ago?"

"mhm, you might be right matt."

the brunette boy smiles and crosses his arms. "i know. anyways, how're things going with josh."

"matt, we're talking about chris here! hey, earth to chris? yeah, hey! did you even hear what i said just now?"

alahna's cheeks glow a deep shade of red as she tries to get josh of her mind. she doesn't want to talk about it because she feels embarrassed. besides, they're here for chris and his love life so there is no room for her to be liking josh or anyone for that matter. the mission is to get chris his crush to like him, and they're finally in the right direction. there is only one more step to finish before the mission's over.

"what?"

the brown-haired girl frowns. "chris... gosh, did you even listen?"

the male shakes his head at alahna her words, then finishes his breakfast. "no, i didn't. i was too caught up in my own thoughts, which are none of your concern, and my breakfast. so yeah, no i didn't listen."

"easy there tiger, suddenly you know how to use your words i see," matt says with a laugh. he places both of his hands on the table and looks at chris with a stern look.

"anyway, we think you should ask romi to be your girlfriend for real now."

"now already?" the guy asks with a frown, titling his head a little to the side. "we've only hung out a couple of times."

"a couple of times? please! you guys have been hanging out together like three or four times a week! that's even more than you do with any of us!"

"yeah, because you guys suck."

"hey, don't need to get all cocky now! you don't even know how to ask the girl you like to be your girlfriend," alahna says, then crossing her arms and looking away. "ugh, pathetic."

matt rolls his eyes at the two exchanging their words. chris isn't showing any emotion, but alahna has her arms crossed and looks somehow sad.

"anyway," matt says, then focusing his eyes on chris. "the last step to complete the mission, is to make it official! come on now, chris!"

the male sighs and places his fork down. "but what if she doesn't like me that much? we haven't even kissed yet. i don't even think she likes me as more than a friend, even though we hung out a lot of times."

alahna's face softens and she turns to chris. "chris," she mumbles, then gives him a smile. "just ask her out."

the male sighs at these words. "so you're telling me that i just need to ask her and not be afraid? how am i going to do that?"

alahna smiles. she stands up from the chair. "simple, chris. you just ask her."

some hours later, chris finds himself at nick's door again. romi's inside playing mario cart with him it feels like that time when he told her she left her pencil case in class, even though matt stole it from her. it feels so weird to be here.

and he's so nervous.

chris has no idea what to say to her. does he say that he likes her? does he just ask her to be his? what do you do in such a situation like this?

"chris, just knock on the door!" matt whispers, leaning a bit away from behind the plant so he can look at his friend. "just knock and you'll see what happens!"

the boy nods, then sighs and knocks on the door. yeah whatever, just fuck it. his friends are right, if he doesn't show courage, he will never ask her to be his girlfriend.

he prepares himself to subtly ask nick to leave the room but, surprisingly, romi opens the door carefully, peaking her head out and then smiling when she sees her friend and crush standing there. "chris! hi, what are you doing here?"

chris tries to get a glance as to whether nick was in the room. once she notices, she opens the door wide open and smiles. "i'm surprised you're here, but definitely not mad. what brings you here?"

"do you want to be my girlfriend?"

the girl widens her eyes and chokes on her spit as those words leave chris's lips. she looks at him wide eyed, her mouth half open and no words coming out.

"say what... ?"

chris starts to blush, looking away and scratching his neck. "do i need to take that as a no? was i too straightforward? i mean, it makes perfect sense if you don't see me in that way but–"

"oh, chris..." the girl then mumbles, a smile creeping upon her lips. she takes a step forward, then grabs his hand in hers. "it's not a no."

"sooo..?" chris says, his face moving to look at his crush's face. he looks a little awkward, the tiniest smile on his lips, leaving romi in awe.

"so, that means that i'd love to be your girlfriend."

chris's tiny smile turns into a bigger one. his lips curl into the hugest smile that romi has ever seen. "oh my... that's incredible."

the girl wraps her arms around her now boyfriend's body, then hugs him tightly. she lays her head against his chest and closes her eyes, smiling brightly.

a few meters to the left, matt, alahna, nick and matt find themselves standing in awe. they watch their friends hug and send each other glances once in a while.

"this is the cutest thing ever!" alahna mumbles, her eyes twinkling by the side of her two friends finally being together.

they really did it. they really used the help of some stupid site to bring chris and romi together. it failed for a second, that's for sure, but it also made them even closer.

romi sighs happily, then letting go of chris. "i was kind of waiting for you to ask me, though. i'm glad you did it in the most you way possible."

"in my way? is that even a good thing?" chris asks, suddenly feeling insecure about the way his girlfriend used her words.

"no! oh gosh, no! it's great. i love how it was the most you way possible! you just stood there and blurted it out as if it was nothing, i like that about you."

the girl smiles and stands on her tiptoes, then places a soft kiss on chris's cheek as she leans onto him with her right hand.

the male blushes at her gesture and watches her stand back right away. she smiles at him, but doesn't take her hand away from his shoulder.

"i'm really happy, chris."

everyone is standing in shock, not knowing what to say. obviously they're estatic about the newfound relationship but, they're just processing it at the moment.

"i'm happy too, romi."

and that everyone, is how you get a girlfriend.

for ch 132, in Hange and Levi scenes the manga and anime had such a different vibe, they were like completely different scenes haha. The manga was more emotional…I mean, those eyes speak volume. Meanwhile in the anime they prefer to make emphasis on Hange’s fighting the colossal. Romi and Kamiya saved those scenes tho, kudos for them.

It feels like levi losing some random comrade tbh. I honestly felt way more emotional when he lost his squad in s1.
