So I got the chance to read Objects of Affection, @taylor-titmouse's most recent erotic horror book. I've mentioned elsewhere how picky I am about how robots are discussed in fiction, especially if the writer takes the plunge and explores just how humans might decide to interface with them. There are plenty of stories out there that are frustrating in how they are unwilling, or even afraid, to truly consider the implications of a world where you can interact with machines that have human faces, voices, or bodies.

Objects of Affection is a book that gets it. An interconnected collection of three stories about a particular line of female androids and how people treat them, it's erotic in structure but also goes in to do something genuinely dark, and smart, and interesting. My favorite story's about Ratna, a lesbian mechanic doing a refurb job that I absolutely had to draw.

Mature audiences, obviously, but if this sounds like it's for you? Absolutely give it a read.

the biggest draw of andreil to me will forever be that they’re just Unstoppable Force mets Immovable Object incarnate in which they actually DO affect each other while simultaneously keeping the core parts of themselves and i just cant think of anything better

Fight Knight is the Spirit of Halloween.

So! A new Spirit Halloween location has opened up in Gotham, and the Batfam has decided to go shopping so they can prepare for Halloween.

Just because it's one of their busiest nights of the year doesn't mean they can't enjoy themselves while patrolling.

So the family walks in about a week before Halloween and spreads out to look for decorations or costumes to wear.

Its a fun trip, they buy their costumes, have a pleasant conversation with the manager about the holiday season, and go back home.

Then they actually put on their costumes and find out that they were either Cursed or Enchanted, because once put them on they are transformed them into the Costumes themselves.

Damien has become a Dog, after putting on a cheap dog costume at the insistence of his brothers. He's not unhappy at least.

Jason has been turned into a Zombie, though he has managed to restrain himself from eating his brother's Brains so far. He claims they look unappetizing.

Tim has been turned into Super Mario. He can't stop speaking in a bad Italian accent and has a huge mustache.

Dick has been turned into a Fairy Tale Princess after putting on the costume as a Joke. He has to admit though, he looks great as a Girl.

Even Bruce wasn't spared, and was turned into a Vampire after putting in some Plastic Teeth.

Taking off the costumes hadn't turned them back, leaving them stuck in their new forms.

Now they are all racing back to that Spirit Halloween to get answers as to what the hell just happened to them.

They hope Mr. Frank Knight has some answers for them.

what kills me is how in Fool's Errand you can tell the Fool is actually harbouring hope that Fitz might reciprocate his feelings. yes, the silly overt flirting/teasing, but it's more than that. it's sharing what Fitz's friendship meant to him when they were kids (you saw me), it's the intense "should I?" when Fitz says the Fool should have known there was someone who cared for him enough to protect him. it's all those lingering looks, searching desperately for some sign that he's not imagining this thing between them. the fucking YEARNING leaping off the page is enough to give me liver damage.

chilchuck spends the entirety of his daughters' visit hovering suspiciously between them and a certain dwarf. when it's time for the girls to go home and no proposals have been made, he breathes a sigh of relief — awkward coworker x family member romance route narrowly avoided!

a couple weeks later meijack shows back up unannounced, backpack laden with tools and thigh-high boots looking uncharacteristically spiffy. bewildered and betrayed, chilchuck rounds on a clueless senshi, only freezing mid-swear when meijack interrupts to ask after namari's whereabouts.

the last thing he remembers thinking is, "shit, i forgot about the other dwarf!" before promptly blacking out.

look at how sillyextra she is. whisper and lanolin walking normally and even sonic moving extra painfully normally out of his reluctant compliance with lanolin saying to be careful. and next to them tangle moving around like a minecraft youtuber does while chatting. like roblox players whose only available body language is jumping to express emotion. like in a platformer videogame where you jump everywhere just because you can or the momentum is fun.

and also dang that is an impressive leap, based on the arc of her tail. even without that, she's that far out AND pretty much a whole whisper or lanolin above the ground. go tangle!!! i think she should do that MORE. she already casually runs around on rooftops in spiral hill when there is literally no reason to do so.
