OPEN OC CALL!

HEY YOU! 🫵
Do you like making OCs?
Do you like subjecting them to The Horrors TM?
Do you wish you were a teenager in the late 2000s to escape our increasingly bleak world through mindless nostalgia???
Well this is for you!
Just email me at [email protected] about how they look and a blurb about them and I'll include them in my upcoming webcomic!
FAQ:
----------
-How DO I make a changeling?
"For this comic I'm following the 1e rules from the Chronicles of Darkness splat Changeling: The Lost. A good place to find information is Codex of Darkness and the White Wolf Wiki! (Links included below)"
-Do I have to make a changeling?
"No! You can make regular humans/high schoolers and I'll still include them. Just keep in mind this is set in 2008-2009."
-Where is this set?
"This webcomic is set in two places. In the real world it takes place in Berkton, IL. A small, semi-urban rust belt town and it's only high school; Berkton High School. However, the world of the game it's set in Chicago, IL. Why? Well most WoD splats use Chicago as a base city and I'm biased."
-When is this set?
"Both stories take place in late 2008 and early 2009!"
-Do you have any guidelines?
"I play pretty fast and loose so here are the only ones I have."
-A changeling is a person taken by the fae who has escaped the fae realm, Arcadia.
-While changelings have to be adults, you are completely free to make an OC that's a high schooler for the segments about "the real world".
-Try to follow 1e rules for changelings but I don't mind 2e!
-You're character is allowed to be flawed, but not like a racist/pedo/ect. While this comic is based on The Eltingville Club, I'm not comfortable stooping as low as them.
That is all! Happy Trails!

SOOOOOOO
What if dyslexic kids are actually Fae children in disguise, hidden in the mortal realm?
✨ Their “dyslexia” is their Fae brain struggling to process mortal language because it’s naturally wired for the lyrical, magical, and visual languages of the Fae realm. Imagine them excelling in creativity, instinct, and art because that’s how they’re supposed to communicate.
And then one day, a smug, beautiful Fae shows up to abduct them back to the Fae realm. Except… the mortal-turned-Fae child is enjoying it a little too much.
“You’re not supposed to like this,” the Fae grumbles as they ferry the changeling across worlds.
“Are you kidding? My entire life just made sense. Take me to the magical danger place immediately.”
Enemies to lovers to strangers to lovers again? Court intrigue, betrayal, and forced separation?
Years later, a reluctant reunion as they’re pulled back together by fate? Yes. Give me all of it.
Some promt ideas???💡
💡 Dyslexia as hidden Fae magic
💡 Abduction with tension (and mutual begrudging respect)
💡 Fae court politics = aesthetic and deadly
💡 Betrayal, memory loss, and rekindled angst
💡 “You’re mine, and I’ll fight the entire Fae realm to prove it.”
This concept needs a whole book.

Hi, hello, good day to you. I would like to pick your brain about the aforementioned OCs.
Starting off with something a bit Doylist: What were the inspirations behind these characters? When did they originate? How did they evolve overtime?
Second one: Tell me abut the twins. Character pairs are interesting, and the more intertwined they are, the juicier it is. And you can't get any closer familial-wise than twins! Of Anatole and Anastasia, who's Corona and who's Ianthe? You piqued my interest greatly with a TLT mention.
And just one more: Give me the love stories. Any characters. Be the TLDR or the whole shebang, I'd like to see them.
Thank you for your consideration.
Literally every single one of them started off as NPCs and/or antagonists in a D&D campaign that ended prematurely. I got too attached and decided to carry them into their own special story (also, I wrote a song for 3B and for HIRO and Percival, and they were both too good to leave in the dust). Stella and the rest of Reject Radio haven't changed much since their inception, mainly because I, uh... never got to play the rest of Reject Radio. However, their personalities and roles became a lot clearer to me after I got into Leverage, and as soon as I decided that Stella was the mastermind of the group, she went from just being a ball of chaos to actually being pretty crafty and cocky.
With the twins... okay, so, Anatole started out as a villain in the aforementioned D&D campaign, and they were a very creepy changeling warlock who looked like a fucked-up pastel-colored stitch-doll, and Anastasia was simply a character in their backstory---she was the human who Anatole had been switched out for, and she eventually found her way back from the Feywild after her birth parents had thrown "the unnatural impostor" out. Anatole lost themselves in intense feelings of neglect, self-hatred, and fury, and eventually got taken in by a mad scientist who encouraged all of their dark impulses. Long story short, Anatole killed Anastasia, which started a... habit, shall we say. And then later down the line, they fell in love with a stitched devil, made a warlock pact with them, and the two of them became the creepiest power couple known to man.
Turns out, once you take away the codependent warlock pact and make Anatole a human so they actually have a relationship with Anastasia, they're not something that crawled out of your nightmares anymore! They're just a STEM major who's really, really, really into figuring out all the ways you can "improve" on nature (i.e. commit crimes against) and perfect the art of necromancy! And, uh... by that description, I think it's obvious that Anatole is the Ianthe and Anastasia is the Coronabeth of their relationship. Washed-out, dead-body-loving creep vs. sunshiny, seems-like-a-bimbo-yet-could-plot-your-downfall golden child.
As for the love stories... I'll give you the TLDR.
3B/Jax: These two met when Stella recruited Jax for Reject Radio as a drummer and a hitter, and 3B figured out that she was perfectly capable of feeling sexual attraction in a robot body the second she laid eyes on Jax beating the shit out of someone in the ring. She awkwardly flirted for a little while and upped the ante on her skills to get their attention, but Jax didn't start reciprocating feelings until after the two of them actually bonded as friends. They asked her out first.
Ricky/Sinead: They met when Sinead intended to rob Ricky's nightclub and he caught them casing the joint, though surprise of all surprises, they actually succeeded. This instantly kicked off a rivalry where the two of them tried to prove to the other that their method of stealing was better, going for the same targets and getting a little bit reckless in trying to prove themselves to the other. Eventually, the two of them got into some big trouble, Sinead rescued Ricky and chewed him out, and they hit the "begrudging mutual respect" portion of their relationship... respect that turned to friendship, which turned to a very deep and profound love. (There's so much more drama, sexual tension, and "I didn't realize how much I cared about this person until they were in serious danger" moments, but that's for another time.)
HIRO/Percival: A little while after HIRO became the head of the megacorporation Andromeda, Percival got hired as its de facto attorney due to his success in court. Almost immediately, HIRO noticed that there was something off about Percival---he acted like a total people pleaser and suck-up who'd do pretty much anything for respect from his superiors, but HIRO saw through the facade and realized that Percival was much more confident and much more crafty then he seemed. Suspecting him of being a spy of some sort, he fake-flirted and flattered him in order to throw him off his game, and in doing so, found out two things---that Percival wasn't a spy, and that his people-pleaser facade was because he enjoyed being underestimated. Not only that, but Percival had caught onto HIRO's scheme... and he'd managed to pick up on the fact that the flirting had stopped being fake a while ago, which was something that not even HIRO had realized. This resulted in a series of messy hookups, which evolved into dates, which evolved into an actual relationship that was surprisingly healthy, despite the fact that they made it seem drama-filled as possible to the public in order to stay prevalent. It's unfortunately working.
#ocs#my ocs#ask answer#this is fun#so yeah in summary#anatole is not as fucked up as they could be and anastasia went from haunting the narrative to being in full control of it#3b and jax are adorable as fuck#ricky and sinead are a true rivals-to-lovers slowburn and are couple goals#and hiro and percival are the embodiment of “love loses”

Hello hello! Just stopping by to hear a little about whichever WIP(s) you want to share about! What do you hope readers pick up on from your WIP? What do you hope is their favorite aspect of it?
Hey!
Sense says I should probably answer for Soul of the Party bc it's technically the focus (inasmuch as I have one right now) but my brain is very definitely saying So the Bran Rhi Sings, which I am blaming on all the Welsh music I've been listening to recently lmao
So as a rundown; Fair Folk, changelings, the Wild Hunt, imprisoned king, lost princess. quests! begrudging prophecy maker masquerading as a story teller!
n I know i sit here and say it's Fair Folk right from the start, but I'm kinda hoping that isn't as obvious when I get around to writing it? like a slow build up put-the-pieces-together kinda thing is the vibe but who tf knows if I can pull that off. Also the fact that our resident storyteller is uh. very definitely telling the stories of every other story I've ever written like that's a whole thing. I wasn't about to think up more.
n I'm hoping that the lore is a good aspect - I'm playing off a lot of Welsh folklore (vaguely, names and inspo like), but also fucking around in my own peculiar Mist Worlds nonsense so there's a fun bleed of tech and lore and magic types that are going to be. interesting. to make coherent lmaooo
Also the magic types. Mostly Red Scarlet.
#satisfaction brought it back#so the bran rhi sings#resident storyteller and her adopted human are my favourite characters lmao#to the point that they are POV for the second and third of the arcs planned haha#like tbf they are also plot relevant like they're not on the outskirts of this they are very firmly in the middle of it all#anyhow. thanks for the ask!!

A demon of wrath should have been able to cling to his anger more readily, perhaps there was a place inside of him that would always burn at the thought of what Zahrya had done, or maybe a day would come when he'd truly forgive him. Alastor had ended up in the passive swamps of ambient rage for a reason, even though he'd crawled his way out by stepping on the necks of others, his sin remained the same. The demon couldn't begrudge his own nature no more than he could Zahrya's, the methodical prince of Spring whose passions led him to stranger roads than Alastor had ever felt possible. A gardener and his flower, though how far Zahrya could grow was something that not even the demon could predict.
For all that he loved about this family they had created, Alastor hungered for that same violence that had birthed their reunion. That thing that made the demon worthy in the chancellor's eyes wasn't what hung between his legs but what his fire could inspire in Zahrya's lofty flowerbed. When last the demon had kneeled it was for Sathanas, now when he bent his knees to Zahrya he pressed his ear against the warmth of the other's sacred garden. Perhaps the harvest season would yield them more fruit, a demon couldn't deny his nature and the Blood Mass had reminded him of one thing in particular: "I want to kill, together again." The changelings were capable nannies for when the two of them were away. "And I want to be powerful. With you, forever."
✿*° ‘° ・
Zahrya only understood now, thousands of years after his actions bound their fates for eternity, what Alastor had lost because of him. Home and family traded for endless madness with no one to guide him. He was angered to such a degree that he spent countless years fighting in Dis only to return to this realm with that same, burning rage. Zahrya understood Alastor's suffering so deeply that he wouldn't blame his familiar for never forgiving him. Zahrya wasn't sure he could forgive himself.
It's why even as the light of Alastor's face peers through the separated leaves he hesitates to look his lover in the eye. "I never should've abandoned you. I'm sorry." Zahrya was so very ashamed of all the ways he failed Alastor to the point it hurt him how much his heart soared at being allowed to return home. He could feel the sun beckoning him from behind his clouded heart but he denied it. Zahrya craved Alastor's warmth more than anything. "You've given me everything I've demanded, more even. I'll never be able to rebalance the scale but I can give you anything you want Alastor. Whatever that may be." Zahrya allows himself to look at and feel Alastor again as he responds. Hands glide across his neck and shoulder as he presses more into the demon until their foreheads are touching. Only then does his frame shudder into a relaxed state, for his body knows home isn't the house Alastor built. It's Alastor himself. "Because I love you and I never want to hurt you again. I love the family you've given me and the house you built for us. It's been so cold without you. I'll spend all of eternity making things right because my heart can't handle being without you."

Vigilante Doll: Which UA students are most unexpectedly fans of Changeling?
Maybe Shiozaki really likes Dove Mask?
Perhaps Yaoyorozu collected all the mystery box keychains? (Resisting the urge to just Create the ones she was missing.)
Ibara would absolutely be a fan of the Dove mask she randomly found the jacket online without knowing about Changeling and buys it. She finds out about the vigilante and his mask later on.
Momo really appreciates the variety of Changelings quirk and especially his mystery key chains! She is so tempted to make the ones shes missing or that aren't out yet, but each key chain has a unique pose that isn't revealed till you unwrap it so she wouldn't be able to perfectly recreate it.
Monoma is a begrudging fan, he's lil jealous of the versatility of the vigilantes quirk but also admires his intelligence and resourcefulness since he's only limited to one mask at a time.
Mirio is a HUGE fan!!! He just thinks the kid if fun and a lively force, he also thinks he would work well with Sir.
Mina is also a fan but not so much for the reason that he's a good hero(?) or um vigilante. That's part of it, but Changeling is a trend setter and an absolute fashion icon! And she can respect that.
also...
Ibara's jacket.

Krenko’s Guide to Creature Types: Ninja

Art by Christopher Moeller
What is a Ninja (flavorfully)?
To quote the Official Ninja Webpage:
Ninjas are mammals. Ninjas fight ALL the time. The purpose of Ninjas is to flip out and kill things.
In Magic: the Gathering, not every Ninja is a mammal, but the rest is true. Ninjas attack from stealth and inflict incredible violence. Ninjas are only found on Kamigawa, because their sheer awesomeness is too much for other planes to handle. Some Ninjas are turtles.
The plural of Ninja can be either Ninja or Ninjas. I’ll use Ninjas here as that’s what Throatseeker uses.
What is a Ninja (mechanically)?
Ninja is a Class type with an extremely strong mechanical identity. The vast majority of Ninjas have the “Ninjutsu” ability, allowing you to exchange them from your hand with an unblocked attacker you control. This is often further augmented with an ability that triggers upon dealing combat damage to a player. Many of the Ninjas without the Ninjutsu ability instead possess some sort of evasion, making it easier to activate the Ninjutsu ability on others. Ninjas are mostly Black and Blue.

Can I make a Ninja deck?
You can! Even though they’re exclusive to Kamigawas, there are enough Ninjas to run a straightforward Ninja tribal deck just by running a stack of ninjas, though you’ll need a few non-Ninja enablers in the form of cheap creatures with flying or unblockability.
Though there are a number of Legendary Ninjas, the obvious winner for Commander is Yuriko, the Tiger’s Shadow. Powerful in her own right, her ability makes her ideal in a deck full of Ninjas. While Satoru Umezawa may reward you for activating Ninjitsu, the ability to grant Ninjitsu is negligible in a deck that’s actually full of Ninjas and he’s far harder to keep on the board.

Is Ninja a good creature type?
Ninja is a great type. By tying it to its own ability, Ninja has one of the best mechanical identities in the game. The ability is cool and fun, there’s a significant number of great and interesting Ninja cards, and the mechanic flavorfully feels like a ninja striking out of nowhere. Wizards has also added a bit of padding with just a few cards that work for both Ninjas and Rogues, allowing the more common type to act as filler in a tribal deck. The only thing I’d like to see is a few more one-drop Ninja enablers. It’s super weird that the only one mana Ninja designed to get through so your other Ninja can sneak in is a green creature. I don’t begrudge Fang of Shigeki in general, but can’t black just get a 1/1 Deathtouch Ninja, and Blue a 1/1 Flying Ninja?
Edit: Yes, I forgot Thousand-Faced Shadow is a 1/1 Flying Ninja, but Black not getting the Deathtouch one is still weird. And no, changelings do not count. Krenko’s Guides to Creature Types are about the individual type, not about the all-type cards.

AU: Trollhunter Barb but like. 25% more weird/horror flavored than usual
(give me an au + i'll give you 5 headcanons)
oooo i love some trollhunter!barb, let's see what best girl is up to
long, loving pans over the lake house's back yard at night. maybe as she's getting home from a late shift, or on an overnight one? (ooo, when jim's the only one in the house.) every now and then: a flicker of yellow eyes, just past the treeline. just for a moment, just a glimpse. but just enough to make you wonder.
she learns how changelings are made. full stop. maybe not on screen, maybe not all at once (or accurately), but. no prevarication, no editing for television. can't decide if it's worse if she learns it from blinky or strickler, tho :')
...i can't explain exactly why, but i just feel like bular should come back from the dead in this au. maybe not quite "right" but "not as wrong as he could have." slow, begrudging enemies-to-friendship? gimme.
because i'm on my hell soapbox and bc i genuinely think a perfectly average amount about very normal character interactions... i would like to see the order show up earlier!! maybe not as major characters or anything but all i'm thinking of is. like. whenever we get our inevitable Very Special Episode about shadow magic? just a moment, just a flicker of eyes, blue-on-black, in the background. (oh heck, and when morgana comes back?!)
barb gets to do the akira motorcycle slide on a vespa during the eternal night, send tweet
#tales of arcadia#trollhunters#barbara lake#i feel like in this au barb does not get trollified but that may be part of my larger attitudes re: that plotline in canon#ask games#mine

MC Prior Relationship History Tag Game
Thanks and Kudos to @mjjune for the fun new tag game!
The Rules
The idea is to briefly (or not) describe what kinds of intimate relationships (platonic, romantic, sexual, or otherwise) your MCs have had PRIOR TO THE BOOK STARTING. Have they had their hearts ripped out before jumping into your fluffy romance? Are they aro/ace and have never been in a long-term relationship before? I WANNA KNOW...
And thank you for the tag, @faelanvance . I actually really love this whole concept, and you've given me a great opportunity to talk about character backstory... sooo, I'm going to do a few posts covering a couple of characters at a time.
I'll schedule the posts over the next few weeks.
For now, I'm gonna do this one on Lizzy Hail and Booker Reed.
For context, the fey society is very free with their physical relationships, but incredibly shut down towards emotional relationships.
This is because fey can die from a broken heart. So physicality between people is seen as something fun, and enjoyable, and pleasurable, but they put no more weight on it than going out for a meal with a friend, or going to the cinema at the weekend.
For fey, it's the emotional side of a relationship that holds weight, and importance, and relevance.
With that in mind, prior to the start of Changeling...
Lizzy
Lizzy has had no romantic or sexual partners prior to the start of Changeling.
Her lack of wings means that she's seen as strange, and other, and most people avoid her, at best. Booker is her only friend, and they're more like siblings.
Lizzy would say that it's not something she's interested in, but way down deep, (pushed beneath the years of hurt), companionship, trust, and affection, is something Lizzy really craves. It's not something she's ever likely to find in Arbaon, however, as she feels a need to know and trust someone, before she could open herself up emotionally, or physically.
The casualy nature of fey physical relationships makes her desire for connection something else that's othering.
She doesn't begrudge Booker his liasons, but she also can't understand how he, or any of the fey, let someone that physically close, when they don't know or trust a partner emotionally.
Booker
Booker has had two or three sexual relationships prior to the start of Changeling, but due to his friendship with Lizzy, he's an outcast by association.
That doesn't stop him from flirting with everyone, just to see how far they'll go. He's fully aware most, if not all, of his encounters have been fuelled by their curiosity about his connection to Lizzy, but he keeps Lizzy protected and the moment any sexual partner begins to question him about her, he drops them.
As for an emotional relationship, it's something Booker actively shies away from, more than most fey. While all fey know they can die from a broken heart, and tend to avoid emotional connections for this reason, Booker has experianced the process of dying from a broken heart before.
When his parents died, he was left to spiral into his grief, and it was only Lizzy's mum, Madeline, who saved him. He has no desire to experiance than again, and so the moment any kind of emotional softening happens towards someone, his instinct is to run.
It took a long time for him to accept Lizzy as a friend, letting anyone else in deeper than that is always going to be a challenge for Booker.
***
Tagging forward, with no pressure, to; @blind-the-winds @athena-anna-rose @afoolandathief and @queen-kass-the-writer
Also anyone else who wants to grab it and join in (But tag me so I can see please! <3)

Do you like Nightmare Night, ms Chrysalis? Do changelings just ever like to dress up without using their magic, or is that like, beneath them?
My children have little need for fashion, as we can form clothes with our innate abilities, and the hive lacks much room for possessions.
There are always outliers, though. We have some eccentrics with a penchant for pony fashion I've never seen the harm in allowing, and there are always rare changelings who lack the ability to change shape. I couldn't begrudge them what little they can do.
As for Nightmare Night, I'm sure it's quaint enough, but it holds little interest to me.

Name: Rosella Macawber
Age: She’s about five years younger than Morgana; heavily depends on how you think supernatural beings age
Gender: Female
Species: Monster/Fae Duck
Occupation: Waitress (and occasional gardener/landscaper) at Shadow Chateau, Superheroine in Training
Super powers: Earth Magic (Geokinesis, Animation of Stone, Petrification, basically any spell that involves dirt, stone, minerals, etc.)
Weaknesses:
Silver
Cast/Wrought Iron (typically manifesting as allergies, though they also weaken her magic),
Water (erodes at her strength until she can barely move, she also can’t swim and sinks like a rock; however, she can drink it just fine, she’d just rather not take a dip in it)
Appearance:
Tiny twig of a woman with a terrible case of baby face.
Brown feathers, prehensile green hair done in a single braid (typically behaves like tentacles when unbraided) with a hot pink daisy at the base, rose pink eyes (which can turn red when she’s in attack mode).
Teeth are selectively sharp and claws are retractable (usually borne when she’s angry).
Typically wears a green sleeveless tunic, brown capelet with a hot pink rose pin, string belt holding a tan magic pouch to her left hip, brown leggings and darker brown flat shoes.
Personality: Optimistic, excitable, curious, and friendly; quite independent, but also lonely to the point of stir craziness; tends to be stubborn, prideful, and a little fiery, especially when she feels her identity as a person is threatened.
Relationships:
Morgana Macawber (cousin, big sister figure)
Tuffy (her cat made out of rocks; BFF)
Mattias Macawber (father, lukewarm relationship)
Undine Macawber (eldest quadruplet sister, hostile relationship)
Ashmay and Zephra Macawber (other two older quadruplet sisters, lukewarm relationship)
Darkwing Duck (ally, mutual annoyance but begrudging respect)
Launchpad McQuack (friend, usually the one to educate her on Normal stuff)
Gosalyn Mallard (odd friendship where they’re kinda kindred spirits but with opposite tastes; occasionally Rosie babysits her and it’s wild)
Liquidator (enemy, will absolutely NOPE out of Dodge upon seeing him)
Quackerjack (enemy, there’s a stupid mutual grudge between them)
Bushroot (some kind of weird complicated friendship despite being on different sides)
Biography:
Once upon a time, Mattias Macawber went traveling for a few years, only to return to Transylvania with four eggs that he quietly admitted were his, and that the woman he produced them with was dead. He spoke little more of the matter, despite everyone’s curiosity, and just sought to raise the children like any other monster.
Rosella was the last of the girls to hatch, and at first, she seemed like a regular monster, looking like she’d be a witch with animated hair. However, as she grew older, it became clear that she just couldn’t fit in. No interest in their macabre society, no desire to be scary or gross, and no magic ability save for manipulating dirt and pebbles. It grew worse when upon stumbling into Normal territory, she discovered their colorful flora (a far cry from the deadly and scary plants monsters grow), among other things, and immediately took a liking to it. She was already bullied by the other monsters for being weak; having adopted a cute and colorful persona, she was now tormented for being the odd duck of not just the esteemed Macawber Family, but all of monster society.
By the time she was an adult, she was shoved to the outskirts of monster society, and often even excluded from her own family—her only friend was a cat (named Tuffy) she made out of rocks and endowed some of her life force into. Not many visitors came her way, and when they did, it’s usually just to grab something from her magic stone/crystal/sand collection and run before she can offer them tea. So, her life was full of loneliness, filling time with gardening, making artisan crafts, and practicing her earth magic—it was enough to make her a bit stir crazy. Still, as much as she yearned for acceptance, she held a stubborn pride in who she is.
Things started to change when her cousin Morgana sought her help in landscaping around her restaurant, the Shadow Chateau. It was initially meant to be a temporary affair, and they’d part ways after the work was done. But, things took a turn when the fairy bounty hunter/hitwoman Goldenrod captured the Macawbers at the restaurant--save Rosie, who was ditched by the other members of the family and left to figure out which magic door at the castle led to the manor in St. Canard. She helped Darkwing Duck and co. rescue them, and then angrily chewed out her kin for leaving her behind and overall treating her like dirt.
Realizing that Rosella was unhappy with her life, Morgana felt pity for her, and offered her a job and a change of scenery. Despite said job being a waitress for the restaurant—involving being dressed to match an aesthetic she cares little for—Rosie ecstatically accepted (albeit with the condition that they transport her garden to a new plot of land, so that no vandals destroy her hard work when she’s gone), seeing it as an opportunity for a fresh start in this strange land of St. Canard.
This fresh start would involve the insanity of superheroes and supervillains, supernatural forces following her and Morg to the city, aliens, spies, mutants, and more… but hey, her life’s more interesting, and she’s starting to make friends.
Open to RP: If anyone cares.
Random facts:
Her mother is a faerie, and only two know (her father and a local doctor (who was confirming the girls’ relation to him, given that he just randomly showed up with eggs; Mattias paid him to keep quiet about their other half)).
However, everyone else does sense something off about Rosie (and her sisters, but she sticks out), enough to theorize that she’s actually a faerie changeling (well, they’re kinda close?). Some of Rosie’s peers had even taken to calling her “fairy princess”, which infuriates her.
She has a scarily extensive knowledge of geology—after all, if you had the power to command the earth, wouldn’t you want to better understand your element? She has a rock collection to boot.
She’s an avid homesteader, given that she’s been taking care of herself for years with various home skills like gardening, cooking, textile work, etc. As interesting as St. Canard is, living in the city gets her a little on edge, and she hopes to someday live independently in the country like she did before (that said, she doesn’t want to go back to a friendless life and would love visits).
Whatever you do, do not threaten her garden. She will throw boulders at or sic golems on you at best. At worst... let’s not think about it.
Though she has a distaste for the spooky, gross, and freaky things that are mainstream in monster culture, she ain’t gonna complain about the food--she actually enjoys it, her faves being the bug dishes. Otherwise, with Normal food, she has a ravenous sweet tooth, dislikes salty foods, and everything else ranges from okay to pretty good.
Character created by and belongs to @cyndalyssa

@chaotic-stupid-bastard - ask and ye shall receive 👀 (also tagging @bigfan-fanfic for good measure, hello D&D buddies~)
My husband and I worked a bit making Vanya and Soren in ArtBreeder for our upcoming D&D assassin game. I used Margot Robbie as a face claim for Vanya (although ArtBreeder made it look nothing like her once it uploaded the photo so uh thanks for that? Still she turned out fine lol), and my husband used Tom Mison as a face claim for Soren.
So, here's Vanya - changeling and newly graduated assassin, in the form she takes the most often:

Aaaaand, Soren Nygaard - wizard, alchemist, and, recently, begrudging new handler for Vanya (though, not because it's Vanya):
I'm probably going to make a bunch of faces for Vanya to take on during the game, but, that's what we've got so far~

Aletheia’s Line Up
(So Far)
Aletheia are an organization that are out to lift the ‘veil’ between the human world and the ‘world’ of non-humans. Everyone’s motivations are different as to why they want to do so but that is the general goal. They are all teachers and students to each other as there is always something to be learned. And while they can work together, it isn’t always a thing. Going in order of speakers from the short fic with them:

Iris Torres, the first voice, speaking. They are a changeling that pulls off some of the most devastating of attacks. She is also fairly ‘unknown’ unlike her actions. She likes to tease all her cohorts and knows she can’t be kicked out because she’s too good.

Aleksandra, the firm and wizened voice. She is one of the few Empyreans--the true nature of vampires that are uncursed--that still exist. She is a founding member of Aletheia although most of the current members only know her as an older member. She has grudges with the ‘families of Slavic vampires’ as they are Betrayers, vampires that massacred her ‘family.’

Donovan, a phoenix and something of an ‘every man. At one point he was primarily a bodyguard to Aleksandra and her priority targets. However he is now a mentor to several members: Elias, Jasper, Arsene and sometimes Alec to be better protectors to the member they serve. He attends the Halloween Ball.
(No FC nor name yet), the ‘low and gravelly’ voice is a dragon.
Euryale, ‘I doubt it’ll be the latter.’ The middle sister of the gorgons. A goddess with eyes of serenity, that lull others into a sense of peace. She has caused mass hysteria and panic, usually with her voice. She is also Crowe’s grandmother.

Kiko, the chipper and breezy voice. A tanuki that stumbled into the scene. She uses her platform as a virtual streamer to draw people into or near magical locations. She tends to think of all the antics as games.

Charlotte, the kind voice. A human and former hunter of the Bastion. She is the resident ‘mad scientist’ although nothing about her seems to give that impression.

Oren, the ‘mature yet idle’ voice. He is a witch that is the head of his coven. He is exceptional in various magic but has no interest in most of them. His magic is used for hacking and coercion for Aletheia. He will be attending the Halloween Ball by his own invitation.
Jasper, an elf and mercenary. He is learning from Donovan, which he doesn’t begrudge. He doesn’t care for much of Aletheia other than what he has to do. A former Bastion hunter that was framed for treason and has been on the run since. He is Aspis’ godfather.
Elias, a human and former RSB agent. He is also learning from Donovan although isn’t keen on. He doesn’t like Aletheia since someone in their midst murdered his father. He is searching for who that person is. He is Samir’s ex-boyfriend.

Alec, the financier. He is a human with abnormal abilities. He considered Aleksandra’s protégé as she handles all his teachings within Aletheia. He primarily finances Aletheia by getting money from deals that use his powers. His power is to trade anything for anything. He will be attending the Halloween Ball.

Arsene, a vampire and mage. He is the last of Donovan’s students. He isn’t excited about it since he doesn’t feel the physical portion is pertinent to him. He is something of a liaison since he keeps up with notes of all other members and can usually chat most of them up. He avoided going because of the risk of meeting his brother, Makari, and because of risk of the other vampire clans figuring out what his line is.

Hi! I read your MDZS Toby Daye AU, which is wonderful, and wondered, did you think of what smells their magic has? I Can see Jiang Yanli, Fengmian and WWX having lotuses (and blood) ( Jiang Cheng doesn't and he hates that, he probably smells like pondwater and air after lighting, which he inherited from YZY), Lans all have some subtle smells, maybe incense, Jins peonies ( JGY's human side manifests as lye, exact same smell of low-quality soap he used to wash clothes at brothel with) 1/2
Wens all smell bit like smoke and fire and all things hot, but Wen Yuan/ Sizhui is thankfully similar enough to something herbal, incense or tea, to pass as Lan. Xiao Xingchen and Song Lan compliment each other, Song Lan ofc has frost in his signature. A-Qing has bamboo, and Xue Yang smells like rusted iron and candy. That is sort of thing I came up with at least, sorry if I bother, thanks for all your fun posts!
this is the second time someone’s brought up this au when I was already thinking about it for completely unrelated reasons. Is there a conspiracy?
Wei Wuxian’s magic smells like blood (of course) and kelp, I think, the sort that grows in great forests on ocean floors.
Jiang Fengmian’s magic smells of fresh-cut lotuses and recently-killed...some sort of fish, I don’t know enough about fish to have thoughts. Tuna? Something big.
Yu Ziyuan’s smells of lightning strike at the height of a storm, raw ozone and water so brackish even a Merrow wouldn’t drink it.
Jiang Yanli’s smells like pond-grown lotuses and the wake of heat lightning - fainter ozone, dryer.
Jiang Cheng’s smells like a lightning strike when the air is cold enough to sting even without the ozone, and raw tuna but bloodier than his father’s kill.
Jin Guangshan’s magic smells of an oxidized gold and an overgrowth of golden peonies. All his children inherit some variant of the peony scent - Jin Zixuan has perfect greenhouse peonies and the steel of a just-drawn sword (Madam Jin’s magic smells of steel and, I dunno, bougainvilleas.) Jin Guangyao’s is some other species of peony, garden-grown, and yes I love that idea of lye. Mo Xuanyu’s weak magic is some soft-smelling wild peony species and...I’m gonna say the slightly dusty cloth scent of his (human) mother’s sewing kit?
Wens’ magic smells like a myriad of things on fire, yes. They stand out as an extended family who nonetheless all share this trait. Wen Ruohan’s was burning rock, pure fire and moving lava. Wen Qing’s was an out-of-control brazier, fire and bitter herbal medicines. Wen Ning’s was a desert, fire and dry dust. A-Yuan’s magic smells like a (mostly) controlled grassfire, cheerful flames and quickly green summer grass, and he doesn’t fit in with the Lans at all because they’re Tylwyth Teg and he’s Daoine Sidhe - there’s a crowd of sedate young noble faeries with pale blond hair and piercing blue eyes, and among them, polite as the rest, is one with hair the blue-grey of a cloudy dusk sky and eyes the bright gold of an eager flame. But that’s okay. Adoptions happen, wards of the court happen, and even in a war, killing is...well, nobody much begrudges the child.
As with everything, the Twin Jades of Lan have nearly identical scents to their magic: Lan Wangji’s gentians are a little more wild, Lan Xichen’s ice is a little closer to melting.
Nie Mingjue’s magic smells of raw marble and a just-hewn oak tree (the tree may rot as his power is twisted against him.) Nie Huaisang’s smells of sculpted marble and, I dunno, daisies? roses.
Xiao Xingchen’s magic has a scent so subtle that only Wei Wuxian has ever been able to pick out the nuance - there’s a fresh summer breeze from over a field of hay, yes, but there’s also a faint, oh so faint, yet absolutely essential scent of moonlight. Song Lan’s smells like the first frost that comes just a little earlier than your garden would like. and the hard-packed earth that will bear it until spring. Xue Yang’s smells like too-sweet candy and blood dried in cat fur. A-Qing’s smells like bamboo, yes, and a cat when their fur got cleaned so recently that it’s still a little damp. Possibly all of them are changelings.
#mdzs#october daye#the untamed#irleughlivelyatalanteangodfan#i will neither confirm nor deny spending like 20 minutes yesterday staring into space thinking about wei wuxian walking the three roads#to blind michael's realm one by one to save as many children as he can and then himself#and after the second time everyone who loves him coming together to break hte ride and drag him off his horse#and hold him tight and fear him not#i can't decide if the horse is wen ning or a-yuan#i have NO idea how this fits into hte mdzs-ish plot i was going to go for

How would Trollhunter!Douxie have dealt with NotEnrique?
[Something that’ll come up in the Douxie oneshot (You weren’t there) that fits my personal headcanon is that if a magic user is experienced enough to be able to know what they’re looking at, they would be able to pick up an “off vibe” of a changeling because their very nature is heavily magical in creation and well if it’s around a bunch of humans odds are it’s one of them. It’s by no means a neon sign in a crowd but the closer they are the more likely it’d be to pinpoint one. This would be much the same for glamours]
[Given he would have no reason to interact with Claire as closely as Jim in this scenario, the best bet for him realising there’s been an active switch in town is if he happened across Not!Enrique when he’s out with the family though he’d not be able to prove anything, just suspect... And not be exactly thrilled about it. Changelings are what they are of course and he won’t begrudge them at all for wanting to get out the Darklands on finding out exactly what happens (I suspect the tie to a human child left with Gunmar is not exactly common knowledge, why would it? You’d assume any squirreling stayed on this plane), that is still an innocent child now trapped on the other side.]
[How handy it would be to have a shapeshfiting Familiar who can temporarily cover for you while you have a gentle word with the newbie. No threats of exposure of execution here because it’s not been earned, just a want to know what exactly they’re playing at and could well lead up to finding out about the Killahead Project being active again. Killing with kindness is sometimes the most dangerous thing you can do as a threat.]
