Chris Andrews after he cut loose from Fleur de Lys in 1967. He was signed by renowned producer, promoter, and music executive Tony Hall, who’d plugged The Beatles, Carmen McRae, and later inked Black Sabbath’s first record deal. “Sad Simon” was tailored for Tim’s voice by songwriter Mike Noble (who went on to work with Joan Armatrading, John Kongos, and Ralph McTell). It’s a bittersweet song about waiting for love, but Simon is going to rebound. The single didn’t chart when Parlophone issued it in December 1967, but it was a solid debut and it eventually found an audience with fans of the “baroque/chamber pop” subgenre —when classical music forms and instrumentation are integrated with psychedelic rock, championed by The Beach Boys, Beatles, Bee Gees, Left Banke, Moody Blues, Procol Harum, etc.—though the jazzy bridge comes out of the Zombies playbook.

If this is your introduction to Chris Andrews, he’s a British singer-songwriter and recording artist whose songs have been covered by Roger Daltrey, David Essex, and Davy Jones (Monkees). Under the name Tim Andrews he was a champion of late 60s psychedelic pop and (later), as Kris Ryder, he released New Wave synthpop sides in the 80s, and he’s still cranking out new music to the world.

I couldn't decide which concept I like better so you get the best of both worlds.

1. On a night out, Mateo meets a young lady in the bar which he partly owns, The Green Room. They are stuck in a heated discussion in which both stick to their guns as they are too stubborn to give in. Consequently, they decide to fight this out in a battle – not with swords or literal guns but with the only true solution to a difficult situation like that: a staring contest. As minutes pass, Mateo realises that she is really good at this game. Since no one ever set any rules, Mateo decides to spice things up. That's when he comes closer to her, up to the point when his lips brush hers. (It might not be a real kiss but it counts to be included in this.) She might be impressed by the trickster's wit yet she is frustrated (hence her lil furious mouth and his smirk) that he was indeed able to almost make her flicker by using a simple trick like that. However, Mateo is convinced that he didn't use any tricks – at least none of those that arise from his supernatural power. They both tenaciously stick to their iron will to win this game. Legend has it that they still can be found in this position in the corner of the bar in which they met.

2. After Mateo's (now ex)girlfriend died a tragic yet mysterious death, he starts to create illusions of her. She … or it barely does anything but creepily stand in a corner and stare, however, one night the illusion develops a life of it's own and approaches Mateo. This results in him being taken by surprise by his own illusion. Don't play tricks on the trickster, unless you're the trick.

I KNOW every person says this about every medium, art form, hobby, etc. ever, and always specifically about whatever time they get really really really into said hobby BUT i do genuinely think, at least from a software perspective, that we're probably on the cusp of some kind of vocal synth renaissance. the scene never died or even wavered, but with the sheer amount of new software coming out both paid and free, voicevox getting a singing update,stuff like OpenUtau making compatibility easier... i don't care for subscriptions so im only interested in their perpetual licenses but i will admit voisona's subscription model for voicebanks has a lot of benefits for those who just wanna use a voice maybe once or twice.... there are so many robots to make sing you guys. there are so many.
