Even though the lyrics of "How do you sleep" are much more obvious and insulting, I sometimes think about what John must have thought when he heard "Too Many People" for the first time, the album opener, the full glory of Paul's voice, the mocking "that was your first mistake" with the high notes, the condescending "now what can be done for you" - how that must have felt. Ouch. Just ouch.
Tbh, I'm not sure which track hit worse. Combine that with believing that "dear boy" was about him, and the two beetles fucking at the back of the cover ... I think I get where the vitriol was coming from.
