Les Onix was a French television show directed by Claude Vajda and produced by Roger Stéphane.

This puppet show was made in France in the 1970s and is very cool. You can watch the episodes on youtube. But the soundtrack is so creative; I can't stop listening to it.

François De Roubaix was something of an musical genius it seems. I am mostly familiar with him through his work on Chapi Chapo, which is brilliant and also worth checking out.

I used to watch glimpses of Chapi Chapo on the TV set back in my kindergarten, and wasn’t particularly taken by it, but I like this episode. Still, a somewhat nostalgic mood brought me to this episode, and I kind-of like it.

As an autistic person, my first thought was that it feels like a metaphor for autistic child trying to engage with the playtime of others and misreading the room. It is encouraging that ultimately the message is that they might not understand the current dynamic and are prone to disrupting it, but can ultimately wind up enriching it if given the leeway to do so.

What a wonderful message for kids.

Oh I'm sorry for the confusion here anon, actually I should have called it the tongue-scratching scene, haha, that would have been more accurate, but I was talking about the moment they almost kiss in Karadec's bathroom after Morgane teased him re him scratching his tongue clean. That scene was peak cringe AND peak sexual tension, which I didn't know could happen at the same time tbh 😱

And yeah it IS weird to brush your teeth at the same time as your guests -- maybe it’s something the Swedes to tho??  🤣 --, but also I love that they’re weirdos who basically behave/argue/care/etc like an old married couple while they haven’t even kissed yet 😂

So back to my initial point, I do have similar vibes of weird tension between the whole “wait, are you washing your tongue?” convo and the dancing moment. They look like horny teenagers embarrassed with their first crush, good for them  😆😆

The holograms were so funny (Daphné’s note about death had me in tears 🤣)!!!! And oh oh oh, speaking of Star Wars references, Audrey Fleurot made this post on her IG about the director’s tributes in this episode (given that he’s her rl partner, I assume that she knows what she’s talking about haha), and guess what: the dancing scene IS a Titanic reference!!!! 😍😍😍😍

Okay, Morgane’s birthday note to Karadec. Actually I have a rather different interpretation than yours in that I don’t think it’s so much a reference to the privacy bit as her version of “if you’re happy then I’m happy”.

You can tell that for the whole episode she’s deep in her feelings. She’s visibly euphoric after the dance, to the point of thanking Karadec and almost telling him how deeply it impacted her on the next day (“J’voulais vous dire, heu. Merci, Pour tout. Ca m’a, heu...Pfiou!”) which is an open-heartedness that we’re not used to with Morgane. We see her then struggling to come up with a birthday note that would actually reflect how she feels about him without saying too much.

And then comes the actual birthday party, and she watches him happy with Roxane, and you can feel the heartbreak in her eyes, and that’s the moment when she eventually settles for a neutral, impersonal note. Because she’s stepping back. Because she understands in that moment that perhaps him being so nice and dancing with her didn’t mean for him what it meant for her (headcanon spoiler: it did). Because IF HE’S HAPPY SHE’S HAPPY 💔💔

So this birthday note where she’s not letting anything show about her actual feelings? That’s her way of letting him go 😭😭😭

Le réalisateur d'origine italienne a créé, avec son comparse Stefano Lonati, Chapi Chapo, série d'animation mythique des années 1970. On lui doit également Pépin la Bulle. Il est décédé ce mercredi à l'âge de 96 ans dans l'Hérault.
