Novel Announcement: Panzerfahren Chronicles!

So, here I am putting this out into the big, wide, world. This project has been my baby for the past ten years of my life.

No seriously, Ten. Whole. Years.

Its took a lot of world building, character development, and overall just learning how to write in general. Even a wiki page, and 'Official' Soundtrack which i've linked below.

As it stands, i’m 3 chapters in with 12,000~ words. As projected, there's 65 Chapters, and about 250,000~ words. About the same length as Order of the Phoenix.

To quote everyone's favourite zombie-killing lesbian: that’s a big boi!

Over the year's there has been a whole boatload of influences, The Hunger Games, Fury, and a smattering of multiple other films, novels and games.

Most recent of which being the Life is Strange series, from DontNod and SquareEnix. Never has a game, its themes, its characters, and the ending (Bae ending all the way, made me a diehard Pricefield'er for life) resonated me in such a way before, and i'm forever grateful that I decided to check it out.

These are a handful of my favourite Chapter Headers that i've been working on over the past few days.

Summary:

Different anon asking about the autosave here! How do you name the save as "autosave" because when it saves on my one, the title is just a long sentence of code?

enabling custom save names requires a different code snippet i believe! there's a few different ways i think, the most straightforward is Config.passages.descriptions = true; which enables the use of passage titles as a name. it does mean you have to name the passages meaningfully though!

edit (13/09) - please refer to this post instead for a working autosave name solution! i'm leaving this one up but keeping the previous content under the cut just for my own notes, mostly bc i want to figure out how it works in my game but not in others bkjfdsb

my own code is a bit convoluted just because i have an additional setting that lets you toggle save names (the itch.io app doesn't appreciate the additional pop-up that comes with custom save names) and i'll try to explain it a bit here.

the bit in orange shows up when you hit settings in the game, so players who use the app instead of the browser can toggle the setting and avoid the pop-up prompt.

the pink bit basically says, "if custom save names are disabled, then the default save title will be 'charactername - chapter 1' by referencing the $name and $chapterheading variables respectively."

then purple says, "if the save type is an autosave, the file name is just 'Autosave'".

and finally, blue would be the 'default' manual save, where players are prompted to enter their own custom save title.

if you just want to customise the autosave title, though, i think this should work:
