"If you don't like this character, blame the author for their shitty writing"

I hate this specific argument so, so much, you have absolutely no idea. Alright, let's for some reason, dive in and allow this character to use "this defense", now what? No, really, now what? What are we supposed to do if we blame the author for everything "bad" the character does? Do we start to worship a fanon version of the same character that, by god, doesn't belong to us as the character is just a tool the author uses to tell a story? Do we completely rewrite it to fit our aesthetic tastes and moral compass as we believe to be a better writer or have a better grasp of reality than the OA despite their work being apparently so important to us that we love their character so much that we treat it as an independent being and not a fictional invent? Do we kiss the metaphorical ground that that character steps on for everything we do canonically like about it as they "did all of that" despite having the author against it as if those specific performances are somehow independent of the original writer's intentions?

What do we do then? Forgive the character as "those bad actions" were out of their control as they never had a choice on the matter while somehow the things they did that we do approve of get, somehow, highlighted as if that actually was their independent decision? If AO's writing is so shitty, why do you like the character in the first place? What compelled you to like a character of which you detest the writing? Why do you favour one specific character yet detest another one? Shouldn't you treat all characters equally if the problem isn't them but the "Author's shitty writing"?

It irritates me alot when people say that making medic more compassionate is ''missing the point of his character'' when he is literally shown to be in the comics.... did you miss the part where he showed concern for both sniper and miss pauling's well being in comic 5 and 6.

His actions are a combination of genuine attachment + clinical interest and these things do not cancel out one another. He is always pushing boundaries and going against the grain and i think this is what led to him losing his license in the first place. He felt stifled by the rules imposed on him.

He is shown to be extremely passionate so it makes sense that he would use his endless fascination with medicine as a way to show his affection. He loves his friends so he will find a way to make them borderline indestructible. Malpractice is his love language.

that ivan loves till is the most obvious thing about them

but. does ivan know that…?

the ivan that regards his own feelings as shallow, the ivan that learned how emotions are expressed only from copying others… does he even know that the love he’s felt for so long is love? probably not. and part of the reason is the one he loves himself

because the easiest example he has of love is till's feelings to mizi. till outright calls it love, and ivan watches him so much he has to be aware of this and till’s love to mizi is totally unselfish, right. he doesn’t seem to actually want much from her—just that she's still there and still "mizi"

but ivan can't be satisfied with just watching he… wants. ivan wants till’s attention, till’s affection—

surely this selfish wanting can’t be love

...no wonder he was never able to express his feelings straightforwardly when he belittles them so much but he can’t stand not having anything either, so he does… whatever he does instead to get any scraps of attention he can, from someone he's convinced doesn't care about him at all only showing affection when till can't see it, right until he knows he's going to die

but ivan's feelings for till are all he still has of himself... to think of them as shallow...

I've seen this translated as "I should've been kinder" to him (till) or to her (sua)

but really, the one he should've been kinder to was himself

rough goron design for my zelda comic, struggled with it for a while bc i didnt want to make their build too similar to demise, tho thematically it fits, ended up going for a more turtle-armadillo kind of approach and a tail just feels right for them and their habit of curling into a ball

since they are even older than the ones from skysw i figured it would still be plausible if they evolved into how they later looked from this

the mogma will need a slight redesign only and parakwa will mostly stay the same as in canon bc i think their goofy look just kinda fits xD

Sometimes it frustrates me that the Sabine at the start of Ahsoka feels less competent than the Sabine on Rebels. Her fighting skills have atrophied, she's lost emotional maturity, we don't really get to see her painting or slicing or blowing things up—all talents she had mastered by age 16.

And then I remember that based on the epilogue in "Family Reunion—and Farewell," Rebels isn't being told by some omniscient narrator. Rebels is the story Sabine is telling us about her past.

Of course the Sabine in Rebels is more competent. The Sabine in Rebels is who the Sabine in Ahsoka—thirty years old, depressed, and living alone with her cat—wishes she was.

And that's both sad, and painfully relatable.

Miraculous Ladybug Reboot: Ladybug turnaround

I haven't done a good proper turn around in ages man, feels good to be doing one again

Doing a turn around is a great way to find out if your design works properly, or if it only looks good from one angle haha! I now know that if I were to animate this, I wouldn't have a tough time which is nice for me!

Morgana and Bastian Hook!

Obviously they’re the children of Captain Hook, Morgana was based on a certain backgrounder which I’m sure all of y’all could assume but Bastian is my own character! Like I wrote, on their own they are weaker and together they make an astounding team.

Morgana is less inclined to follow her destiny, though she’s fiery and tends to lean toward chaos, she doesn’t really love the idea of a) losing her hand or b) chasing Piper to ends of the Earth. On the other hand, Bastian is all for the role of Captain Hook, he’s just as mischievous if not more and loves causing havoc. He doesn’t love the idea of losing a hand but thinks he’d look badass so ultimately he doesn’t mind so much.

They’re heavily scarred as their dad has had them on his ship since they were little and they’ve been though quite a few fights.
