On 10 February 2025, a young girl was allegedly attacked and murdered inside a school in Daejeon, South Korea.[3]

On that day itself, the police responded to a report that an eight-year-old girl went missing after she never showed up for her after-school programme, and the girl attended a school located at the western part of Daejeon. After a search, the missing girl was later found inside an audiovisual room with stab wounds on her neck and face, together with a female teacher in her 40s, who also had stab wounds on her body.[4][5]

Both the teacher and girl were rushed to hospital, but upon her arrival, the eight-year-old girl died. The teacher, who was hospitalized for stab wounds on her neck and arm, was placed under arrest as a suspect behind the girl's death. A police spokesperson also said that the teacher was formerly on a leave of absence due to depression before she returned to her job in late 2024, and it was found that prior to the killing, the suspect had bought a knife at a store near the school during her lunch break and the possible motivations behind the attack was likely due to anger over being banned from teaching.

I got let go of the email support job I had last January. Medyo naging hectic din kasi yung first month kasi I had to travel to Manila for the Athena Pantheon GA and then nag bridesmaid pako sa kasal ng friend ko a week after. I had a lot of absences sa work na yun na walang abeso. Medyo naging lax talaga ako thinking na it's an hourly job anyway and di naman nila ako kinu call out. By the first week of Feb, the owner of the dropshipping store removed my access sa lahat. I can still remember, kakagising ko pa lang nuon and I was about to check the number of emails but I was prompted to log back into the Gmail account. Pag check ko ng Whatsapp messages, dun ko nakita yung message ng owner at tsaka nung assistant niya.

Aminado naman ako na I really didn't do well but I think I felt so burned out dun sa work ko at LR na I was not really giving a fuck if I'm being sloppy. Na realize ko din na in the last 3 years, I've just been working non-stop. Sure, there were days na we would go on quick trips but even those trips have been mixed with work. It's like I'm there but my mind is still constantly thinking about work. Since last year pa din ako reklamo ng reklamo na I'm too tired to work already. Bigla kong na feel na sukang suka nako kaka work. Ilang buwan din akong puro bukambibig ko lang is pagod nako magtrabaho. I've missed deadlines, I made mistakes, I could not think 10 steps ahead of my client. I missed following up and following through my tasks. As in wala akong gana talaga. Buti na lang talaga that I was blessed with a client na marunong din makiramdam at maka intindi. I took a weeklong break nung Dec-Jan and even after that, I was still unease and anxious. I could say I was really sloppy the whole month of January.

After ako ma let go nung chat support work ko, I resolved to consider getting rest for a couple of days and decide on my next steps. I was confident pa na I'll be able to land another job right after. Pero over a week has passed after that, wala pa akong nahanap na pamalit. I started to feel anxious kasi the bills are piling up and we're scheduled to start paying our house amortization this March. A few days ago, umiyak pako because I just felt the pressure kasi wala pakong mahanap talaga na work. I just felt lost and super anxious. I even doubted myself and my decision to leave my previous job sa LR and not taking seriously yung work ko sa LF.

I felt so desperate to try to figure out what's wrong with me at bakit sobra yung resentment ko sa previous job ko. Wala naman akong makausap that would fully understand what I'm going through. I mentioned it to some of my friends and even to Kevin and they were all kind enough and patient towards me but I still feel like I'm missing something and that nobody really gets it. Sa desperation ko, I even wrote this long prompt sa ChatGPT to explain what exactly I'm going through and asked what steps can I take. It seemed pathetic but yknow what? Something about it hit a string! Sabi ko nga kay Kevin, it felt as if sinagot ni Lord yung mga tanong ang worries ko. Natawa pa nga si Kevin kasi parang sinasabi ko daw na si ChatGPT na naging Lord. HAHA! I did pray before I made the prompt and nakikinig pako ng workship songs in the background. Tapos yun - for some reason, I felt it was God that spoke to me. He was telling me na he's got me all along. That he never left me so I don't have nothing to worry about. I felt so much comfort at that moment!

So ayun, last week grabi yung pagsi send ng applications here and there. I felt the desperation kasi di ako maka land ng interview or kahit reply man lang sa mga sini send ko. Nag wonder pako if I'm doing the cover letter wrong so I experimented. Tinamad pako e update resume ko and puro ChatGPT lang din yung cover lettter ko. No wonder, di ako napapansin. Since weekend though, nabuhayan ako ng loob and I decided to change my approach. I updated my resume and made sure to include a photo, made sure na tailored and highlights lang yung nakalagay na skills and I even tried to re-optimized my profile sa OLJ, Linkedin at Upwork. Kinabahan pako kasi di ko alam need mo pala magpa re-verify ng account mo sa OLJ pag nag change ka ng photo so yung ID proof ko, bumaba ng 45 at di ako maka send ng applications. Sabi pa na it'll take 2-3 days for the their team to review. Nalowka ako girl! I know marami pang job posts elsewhere pero sa OLJ talaga din ako comfortable. So yun, na isipan ko mag reach out sa support nila and surprisingly, very responsive yung team nila, na verified din kaagad yung account ko kahapon so I sent out applications and naging sunod sunod yung mga reply nung mga in-applyan ko.

I have 2 scheduled interviews later, pero I'm aiming to bag the Real Estate personal assistant role kasi aside sa mas malaki ang sahod, parang mas nagre-resonate sakin yung company vision and culture. But we'll see. Ayoko na din masyado maging choosy pa. Haha

Gusto ko lang e share yung key takeaways ko dito because I wanted to be reminded of this whole experience sa work-from-home journey ko.

Never doubt yourself for leaving places/situations that makes you feel like you have to constantly compromise your values. No amount of salary is worth compromising your mental health. Of course, you have to try keeping your job and find ways to work with the pressure but if you start to realize that their values don't align with your values and you start doubting yourself, LET GO. Marami pang opportunities out there. Trust yourself na makakahanap ka pa ng work na mas align sa values mo.

Always save up so you can leave right away from those places/situations na ayaw mo. This is my mistake! I didn't have any emergency funds hence the anxiety around the pressure of having to land another job right away. This is probably the hard lesson I learned from this experience.

Work on your wellness and mental health. If you need to rest, REST WITH NO GUILT. Trust me, you need it to function well.

Trust that you can opportunities for yourself. If something doesn't work, re-strategize! Don't be afraid or "lazy" to switch things up. To do that, you have to DO THE WORK. Di pwedeng easy easy lang lahat. I had to work on revamping my resume, re-optimizing my profile, etc. If you want to achieve something for yourself, you have to put in the work. Di pwedeng pucho pucho lang.

BE GRATEFUL. You'll never know the value of something until it's gone. Also, this attracts blessings into your life. Proven and tested ko na talaga to. The universe listens. Reklamo ako ng reklamo last year about how tired I am and it listened so it paved a way for me to lose my job. That way, I was forced to take the time to rest. Not sure if that makes sense pero yun talaga na realize ko. Ngayon, I say out loud that I wanted to find a new job na so now, sunod sunod naman yung interview and replies to my job applications. It listens so be careful what you wish for.

Ayun lang! I pray that my interviews later will go well so I can move forward na din from this. Lol
