She was glowing. Make up perfect and a veil tossed a top her styled soft curls. Alex was smiling as she gracefully made her way down, eyes locked on one another.

It was natural of course, something almost known for a decade now, that they would end up here. No matter how much I smile, though, my eyes never corresponded with sincerity. My eyes were too busy watching the bitter sweet event before me, before all our friends and family.

If this is what Alex wants, there is not much I can do, right?

There is not much I should do, but play along and congratulate the newly weds.

“Five years,” Jack mumbled. “Five fucking years!” Jack shouted suddenly.

Alex and he had been together for just over five years and it was all thrown away over a stupid fight that probably could have been prevented if Jack and Alex hadn’t blown up at each other.

Alex and Jack were the perfect high school sweethearts until they both made horrible mistakes. Now Jack is pregnant and thanks to his “mistake” he doesn’t know who’s the father of the baby. Will it be his used-to-be soulmate, Alex, or the other guy?

He wraps his arms around his knees and looks at his boyfriend carefully, trying to figure out what the answer will be before he even speaks. “I’ve really thought about it, actually,” the older of the two responds as he closes his notebook, “And I mean… there’s really only one option, I guess.”
