My mom introduced me to Chen Zhen yesterday, particularly one of his assemblages "Cocon du Vide" (Empty Cocoon).
It follows the idea of "Transexperience" - a term Chen Zhen coined in the late 1900s about the fusion of different cultures and their influences and impact on an individual. To take in, to combine, and then to rise above the environment, not in a sense of superiority, but of "creating or becoming something different and new".
I've had many people ask me whether or not I experienced any "culture shock" when moving to Germany, and many tried to sympathize with me by showing their understanding of "how difficult it is to move to a different country"; my answers to those questions were always "Nope, no culture shock at all" and "It's more so about moving out alone that's the difficulty, than so the different country part".
I, at those points in time, really did believe that. The internet and English as a global language bridged many gaps between cultures and people, as it did for me. Of course with its own wonderful merits, there was also the "blending in together" of everything and everyone, becoming a somewhat homogeneous clump. Along with this came, at least in my case, the slight disregard and disinterest in cultures and traditions, my own and others.
With time, I've come to realize more about the nuances of cultures and people, and simultaneously, come to want to appreciate them more. German mannerisms, festivals, traditions, and in particular language are just one of the few things I would like to learn more about and immerse myself in (since I'm currently living in Germany).
The idea of the "cocoon" that me and my mom talked about then, was a little bit different. It was more akin to a mental maze that's endless and repeating, a cycle of thoughts that have already been thought through.
Thief of energy and time sometimes, really.
It's the nature of not wanting to do things you're not familiar with or might find new, scary, or difficult, and resorting back to things or places that you know. I find it easy and comforting to "live in my own head". Rationalizing, thinking, and coming up with plans or revelations are just easy things I could do, and am familiar with doing. Of course, it's necessary to think and to plan, as are many things, but it is the dose that makes the poison. Pass a certain point, and it falls into the lines of procrastination.
I have been in a love/hate relationship with this video for 2 years, making sure it was perfect, but I'm so happy and proud of how it turned out. This is my first Nirvana In Fire video, and hopefully, I will be making more.
This video is dedicated to @not-saying-revolution-but after she made me a gifset from Guardian.

Your Majesty put this pair of jade bracelets on my wrists yourself when I first entered the prince's manor. We were hoping that like those bracelets, we would see each other day and night. But now Your Majesty believes that I've done wrong, and perhaps doesn't wish to see me again. At that time, with these bracelets at hand, Your Majesty told me, that if I gave birth to a prince, the position of Fujin would be mine.
IS THIS A SIGN TO REWATCH MYSTERIOUS LOTUS CASEBOOK?
YES!
I miss the time and feelings i had when it was still airing, waiting patiently for the next episodes but i gotta admit, getting to see all the episodes right away is pretty sweet~
Zhe Yan (Chen Chuhe) and Bai Zhen (Huang Junjie) from Eternal Love of Dream.
I have not seen this show but from what I've read about it, these two characters goals in life is basically to hang out with each other and drink wine. I dunno about you but that feels a bit gay to me xD
Zhang Qiling (Huang Junjie) and Wu Xie (Zhu Yilong) from Reunion Sound of the Providence.
Do I even need to say anything. The people who know Pingxie will understand me
Lin Quishi (Huang Junjie) and Ruan Nanzhu (Xia Zhiguang) from The Spirealm.
So many heart eyes. Pulled from the site after two hours and it's kinda clear why. The sparks were flying!
