Okay, the way I see it you already have some grounded stuff! That is, you know what you like, and for what reasons.

You could always mix both things. (About Theo not having a strong connection to Draco until the Quibbler deal) Personally, Im going for both options, (Theo and Draco not having been close before, but see now. Wixen did inspire me, only in my story, Draco and Theo didn't really know each other well at all before) because I like the idea of Theo not being very interested in Draco, nor Draco in Theo (as friends) but they sort of...end up realising they get along during fifth year, after their interests align. And it's weird for both, because Draco probably doesn't have a lot of genuine friends, just a little more than Theo does. Theo knows people, and he contents himself with that. Then he meets these two who are already friends, (Draco and Blaise) and somehow THEO ends up becoming the chewgum that binds the three of them together properly. Draco and Blaise were friends before, but not as close as when Theo joined the picture. That's it for me, anyway.

If you like something that contrarrests with another thing you also like, just think: ok, I like both. Lets do both! How can I do both? And go from there. Think how the story can merge those two things in a way that makes sense.

Tbh I understand not having all the pieces, I'm also struggling with my plot, so explaining things like this actually helps get the thoughts in order. Please ask anytime, I'll go right back at you.

Back to Theo. I actually have a fun list of questions you can ask yourself of a character in order to get your brain going; but tbh, making up scenes in the go and letting your brain go rampant is a good way to piece the loose bits that have nowhere to go. Hold on, I've got a notebook for these things. If you ever wondered where my nickname comes from, this is it.

Okay so you can also ask questions like: WHAT brought me into this character's solar system? What is it about him that I like AND dislike, or what is it that Interests me and would like to expand on.

What are OTHER things that I enjoy from OTHER characters that have a similar vibe and what's the meeting point? 'What connects these things that I do clearly like'?

I'm not sure if you're a visual thinker, a listener, a writer kind of mind, but I THINK, judging by your way to roam about, that you go jumping between connections, only they are scattered, so it leaves you feeling with a bunch of scraps.

If that's the case, Good! Scraps are good! Get those scraps, and write them down, maybe add songs that remind you of them (scraps can be scenes, or plot related scenarios, or character-based development. Anything at all)

And THEN we take the scraps, we see what we've written, and we separate all of them into categories so it's easier to process and see what the hell we are slowly building.

Because you have. You already have something built there. It's just scattered about. But the BLOCKS are there. You just gotta start piling them until the arrangement makes sense to you.

Okay, so this story is going to be centered around: Found Family + Plots +Subplots.

Get yourself a time-line, a visual or written structure about how this found family will go. You already kind of did, or are doing, by putting the 'books' in order, so that's cool. If it's the order of things you're unsure about, just put the VERY BIG roughs of what you know or want on the table, (without the confusing in-between details and subplots and whatnot) so it's easier to follow the big picture of how the story is going to follow itself.

It also makes it easy to arrange.

How to arrange? By asking yourself questions. Why would this work here and not here? Why does it not work here? Would it make sense? Where are the highs and lows?

Stuff like that. Maybe you know this already, but I love to rant about systems :D

Theo things

I don't know what I want to do with Theo hahaha. Like, okay, in canon both Draco and Blaise call him "Nott". Not Theo/Theodore or anything that says they know each other, other than in a loose sense, and Theo is only really ever with them when it's kinda forced, like after the article in the Quibbler or in class and such (Theo laughing at a joke Draco said in Slughorns class about Hermione). And I like that idea, having Theo be a loner (or at least having friends in the upper years or maybe outside of Slytherin but that seems a bit of a stretch haha), but at the same time I love Theo having a few close friends in Slytherin, it's more fun and let's interesting things happen.

But idk which I wanna do more, cause I haven't though of the story I wanna tell or who Theo is much outside of the Harry centric/RuneSeeker things that are necessitated to be thought about for a fic like what I wanna write.

Cause like, the story is gonna be Harry both learning about his family (who is almost completely dead at this point because that's just canon) and making his own family. Like, the first book of it (PoA) is gonna be him learning about the Black family who he's been blood adopted into because Jegulily was what the fate polyhedron decided. And then book 2 (GoF) I think would be most fun spent learning about Lily's family (no plans on her being from a long line of magicals or anything like that) which would just be wild I think haha. And then for book 3 (OotP) we'd have him fully diving into the Potter's, and book 4 (HBP and onwards) would be him learning about the Peverells and all that that means for who Harry is and will be. Like, idk which fits best with that for when it comes to Theo but I think I want it to be a Theo who doesn't have many friends? Which is a weird way to put it when having two close friends is the bar for "many close friends" lmfao.
