Poll: Horror Movie Rentals Part 5: Where'd This Kid Come From?
Tumblr media
Welp, you're back at the movie rental store after having slacked off all week and neglected to do anything to stop this loop you appear to be stuck in.
Worse still, now there's a kid hanging out in the aisle with you. You obviously don't want this responsibility and try to sneak away to the horror section, but the kid follows and you appear to be stuck with him. Hoping that this is merely a temporary sidekick situation and not some inexplicable long lost child of yours, you check out this week's selection.
Nine VHS tapes sit before you, ready for renting. Maybe you feel like revisiting a beloved favorite. Maybe you want to check out something you've never seen before...
All are the fifth entry in their respective series... including one that never got a VHS release but you've already stopped questioning things.
Part 1, Part 2: Return of the VHS, Part III: The Weird One, Part 4: The Final Return

🥳Happy Birthday to the stunning, and my dear friend, Cuban-American actress @EvaMendes who gained mainstream recognition for Training Day, and starred in 2 Fast 2 Furious and Girl in Progress. Mendez achieved alternative fame for her roles in the B movies Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror and Urban Legends: Final Cut. Believe it or not Mendez sold hot dogs at Glendale Galleria Mall while doing random B movies on the side. #EvaMendes began dating Ryan Gosling 2011 and have two daughters, Esmeralda and Amanda Lee and were officially married in 2022. #SoDuJour #ExclusivelyDuJour #DuJour🎊 https://www.instagram.com/p/CpbI3ByO6Af/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Politics of Horror, by Damien K. Picariello, Palgrave Macmillan, 2020. Info: palgrave.com.
The Politics of Horror features contributions from scholars in a variety of fields—political science, English, communication studies, and others—that explore the connections between horror and politics. How might resources drawn from the study of politics inform our readings of, and conversations about, horror? In what ways might horror provide a useful lens through which to consider enduring questions in politics and political thought? And what insights might be drawn from horror as we consider contemporary political issues? In turning to horror, the contributors to this volume offer fresh provocations to inform a broad range of discussions of politics.
