"If I liked someone, I would hide it in the depths of my heart forever. I would never speak of it aloud, nor would I ever let anyone know."
so anyway I am watching this show now because there's not a lot to watch (for some reason I've gone off on a ZLH backlog and I do love to see Bailu) and omg don't spoiler but-
Xie Wei is talking about himself right, very hypothetically and this is not about Jiang Xuening at all :skull emoji: did he like her from like four years ago when they were going to the capital ... what's going on xie wei sir lmao as far as she knows he's whipped out his dagger 🗡️ like actually- at her more than a few times 😩 also, yo, is he also living a second life? (ok no spoil).

Was supposed to order the chicken version but we already have many chicken dishes, so I ended up with the Red Rice Vinesse Pork Belly (红糟三层肉). While I like the rice wine flavoured gravy, pork is not tender enough for me. Seems like the meat is cooked separately and later combined with the gravy.
Tumblr media
Another pick from sister-in-law, the Deep-Fried Prawns with Salt & Pepper (椒盐虾). The garlicy salt and pepper profile is nice but the prawns are a little small so after frying, there wasn’t much meat to eat and some family members don’t want to get their hands dirty peeling the shells.
Tumblr media
The most expensive dish of the night is this Deep-Fried Squirrel Fish with Fruit Sauce (水果松鼠鱼). A whole fish beautifully sliced and deep-fried then drizzled with sweet and tangy sauce made from fruits. You also get canned lychees and freshly diced pineapples for the fruits portion.
Tumblr media
Sis likes this Bean Curd Kailan (豆皮芥兰) which is fried bean curd skin with Chinese broccoli or Chinese kale. Ordered this Prawn Paste Chicken (虾酱鸡) for the kiddos. Appearance wise, the mid-wings are unevenly browned but it made up with surprisingly umami flavours and juiciness. Well, looks can be deceiving.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No, this is not braised pork belly but Fragrant Egg Plant (鱼香茄子煲). This claypot brinjal or aubergine is beautiful cooked if a tad salty but perfect with the white rice. There is also a twelve dish, the Salted Fish Fried Rice (咸鱼炒饭) for one of the kid but I did not take photo of.
Tumblr media
Here is the Bill for the meal including the rice and refreshments. We ordered ala carte so we picked the dishes we like and it ended up cheaper compared to the expensive set menu the restaurants offered for the actual day (Chinese New Year Eve).

Bubble Tea Counter - Boba-fied!
26 May update:
Simplified Traditional (sorry to all my fantizi fam out there!) Chinese translations thanks to @heatherkknowles!
23 March update:
Fixed the Lychee flavor material so it properly corresponds and doesn't give mint chocolate
Fixed the issue with the interaction cancelling out before your Sim can put the boba in your inventory. It should go in the inventory each time you order to go
Fixed low res mesh to show the boba cup (there will only be one texture for this. I may update later but doing several material states can be time consuming and I don't play in low res)
Tumblr media
This is Boba-fied version of the bubble tea counter from @twinsimming's Tea Time Set conversion. When I saw the ThrifTea shop in HSY, I really wanted it in TS3 and then Twin did the thang and converted it for us TS3 simmers. With this mod, your Sims can buy boba tea from the counter.
You can buy 11 different flavors: the 5 flavors from HSY (Taro, Strawberry Matcha, Chocolate/Mocha, Lychee, and Mango) as well as 6 flavors converted from OniSims: Chocolate Banana, Mint Chocolate, Strawberry, Peach, Brown Sugar and Pistachio. Certain Sims will get a positive moodlet after drinking it.
Tumblr media
Sims can purchase a boba tea to go and will put it in their inventory immediately after purchase. You can also make a group order to get 4 which comes in a cute little beverage carrier (pictured above).
Finally, I added the option to get a customer loyalty card. Keep it in your inventory and you will get a free boba drink after every 10 purchases. It's not linked to the individual so you can share it among your household.
Credits/Thanks: Boba drinks converted from TS4 by me. The nice (aka, not EA ones) textures are from OniSims. The beverage carrier mesh is from Modish Kitten which I edited to fit the boba cups. Thanks also to Arsil (wherever they may be) whose custom beverage script was helpful in teaching me...well how to make a custom beverage. Custom buff image is from FlatIcons. And of course, thanks to Twin, who converted the set in the first place. I'm only including the updated counter so make sure to download the rest of her set here!
Requirements: University and Seasons EP
Download here
As always let me know if you run into any issues! A few notes after the cut.
Notes:
Sims will autonomously purchase if they're hungry. If there's boba lying around, Sims will autonomously drink unless they're stuffed.
I disabled autonomy for to-go and group purchases because hungry Sims will keep choosing these options and then not getting it from their inventory and then keep ordering more.
Children cannot purchase boba because there's no animation for it but they can of course drink it, however, if they're talking while holding a cup, it's a little weird. I think because there's no bar glass animation for kids. They don't stretch or anything, the cup just goes sideways. Update: If you have the No Stretch mod, children can purchase boba.
Maids will throw away the beverage carrier even if there's still boba cups in it so if your maid is around, best to take the cups out of the tray or move the tray back into your inventory.
When buying a group order, dummy boba drinks are added to the tray and then the real drinks are added after. The thumbnail shows as strawberry matcha but it will be whatever flavor you ordered.

Tumblr media
Berries 🍓 Blackberry - 黑莓 (hēi méi)
Blackcurrant - 黑醋栗 (hēi cù lì) Note: literally translates to 'black vinegar chestnut'.
Blueberry - 蓝莓 (lán méi)
Cranberry - 蔓越莓 (màn yuè méi) Note: literally translates to 'creeping berry'.
Raspberry - 树莓 (shù méi) Note: literally translates to 'tree berry'.
Strawberry - 草莓 (cǎo méi) Note: literally translates to 'grass berry'.
Açaí - 巴西莓 (bā xī méi) Note: literally translates to 'Brazilian berry'.
Mulberry - 桑葚 (sāng shèn)
Elderberry - 接骨木莓 (jiē gǔ mù méi)
Goji berry - 枸杞 (gǒu qǐ) Citruses 🍎 Blood orange - 血橙 (xiě chéng)
Tangerine - 柑橘 (gān jú)
Grapefruit - 西柚 (xī yòu) Note: literally translates to 'Western pomelo'.
Kumquat - 金橘 (jīn jú) Note: literally translates to 'golden tangerine'.
Lemon - 柠檬 (níng méng)
Lime - 青柠 (qīng níng) Note: Chinese people have a name for a blue-green colour: 青色 which is 'cyan' in English. Technically, limes in Chinese literally translate to 'cyan lemons'. However, you may not recognize limes as particularly blue/cyan. Chinese people have a slightly different understanding of colour because historically, they didn't separate between green and blue, which is common amongst many East Asians in general. Nowadays they obviously do but may disagree with non-Chinese people on what constitutes 'green' or 'blue'.
Yuzu - 香橙 (xiāng chéng)
Orange - 橙子 (chéng zǐ)
Pomelo - 柚子 (yòu zǐ) Melons 🍉 Cantaloupe - 甜瓜 (tián guā) Note: it's hard to find a direct translation for the cantaloupe and honeydew as some translate 甜瓜 into muskmelon and 哈密瓜 into hami melon. Others translate cantaloupe or honeydew into 洋香瓜 (foreign fragrant melon).
Honeydew - 哈密瓜 (hā mì guā)
Watermelon - 西瓜 (xī guā) Misc. 🍒 Apricot - 杏 (xìng)
Cherry - 樱桃 (yīng táo)
Peach - 桃子 (táo zǐ)
Banana - 香蕉 (xiāng jiāo)
Durian - 榴莲 (liú lián)
Starfruit - 杨桃 (yáng táo)
Asian pear - 苹果梨 (píng guǒ lí) Note: literally translates to 'apple pear'.
Passionfruit - 百香果、热情果 (bǎi xiāng guǒ, rè qíng guǒ) Note: most people will use the first translation but the second is more fun.
Coconut - 椰子 (yē zi)
Dragonfruit - 火龙果 (huǒ lóng guǒ) Note: literally translates to 'fire dragon fruit'.
Grape - 葡萄 (pú táo)
Nectarine - 油桃 (yóu táo) Note: literally translates to 'oil peach'.
Pomegranate - 石榴 (shí liú) Note: people typically do not pronounce the last character with a tone so you probably don't have to bother either.
Kiwi - 猕猴桃 (mí hóu táo) The reason why kiwis have such a strange name is because of a story (unsure of veracity): mountain people in China originally thought the fruit was poisonous. Thus, they didn't eat it until they saw macaques (猕猴) eating them. That's why they're called 'macaque fruits' (猕猴桃). Uncommon Fruits 🍅 Cactus pear - 仙人掌梨 (xiān rén zhǎng lí)
Calabash - 葫芦 (hú lú)
Date - 枣 (zǎo)
Fig - 无花果 (wú huā guǒ) Note: literally translates to 'flowerless fruit'.
Jackfruit - 菠萝蜜 (bō luó mì) Note: literally translates to 'pineapple honey'.
Lychee - 荔枝 (lì zhī)
Mangosteen - 山竹 (shān zhú)
Plantain - 大蕉 (dà jiāo) Note: literally translates to 'big banana'.
Persimmon - 柿子 (shì zǐ) Fun fact: tomatoes were probably first brought to China in the 1600's and lots of people thought they were strange and foreign. Thus, tomatoes were called 'foreign persimmons' (洋柿子)or 'foreign eggplants' (番茄) depending on location. Eventually, the 'foreign persimmons' term changed to 西红柿, or Western red persimmons.
Guava - 番石榴 (fān shí liú) This is a similar story for guavas which are called 'foreign pomegranates' (番石榴).
Rambutan - 红毛丹 (hóng máo dān) Example Text
各种挑水果技巧 看完你也是专家了 -> the skill of picking various types of fruits, after reading, you will also become an expert Pomelos 看外形,水滴状的最好 -> look at its external appearance, teardrop-shaped is best. 摸果皮,挑表皮光滑的 -> touch the fruit peel, pick one that has a smooth peel. 掂一掂,重量大的口感好 -> weigh it, the heavier ones have the best taste. Grapes 3招教你挑对葡萄 -> three-pronged lesson on picking the right grapes. 一看果梗。新鲜的葡萄果梗为绿色 -> first, look at the fruit stem. Fresh grapes will have green stems. 二看果皮和种子色泽 -> Secondly, look at the colour of the fruit peel and seeds. 三尝风味。葡萄成熟时,应该呈现品种固有的风味 -> Thirdly, taste the flavour. When grapes are mature, they should show a variant-distinct flavour. Oranges 3招挑出最甜的橘子 -> a three-pronged approach to choosing the sweetest orange. 一看:大小和颜色。橘子个头以中等为最佳... 颜色越红,通常熟得越好,味道越甜 -> first, look: size and colour. Oranges that are medium-sized are the best-tasting... the redder the colour, typically the more mature the orange and the greater sweetness. 二摸:光滑程度. -> Secondly, touch: smoothness. 三捏:测试弹性... 用手捏下去,感觉果肉结实但不硬,一松手,就能立刻弹回原状 -> thirdly, pinch: test the elasticity. Use your hand to pinch it, feel the fruit flesh as firm but not hard, once you let go, it immediately bounces back. Apples 苹果听声 -> listen to the sound of the apple. 敲敲看,如声音不脆,表示不新鲜 -> knock on it, if the sound isn't crisp, it means it's not fresh. Pineapples 菠萝看叶片 -> look at the pineapples leaves. 若叶片呈深绿色,表示日照良好,甜度和汁液都很多 -> as leaves display a dark green colour, it shows that the fruit received a good amount of sun exposure, both its sweetness and juiciness will be great. Strawberries 草莓看果蒂... 新鲜的草莓果蒂鲜嫩,呈深绿色 -> Look at strawberry stems... fresh strawberries will have freshly tender stems, displaying a deep green colour.
Bananas 香蕉看表皮 -> look at the banana's peel. 表皮有许多黑色斑点,且色泽深黄的香蕉成熟,这样的才最可口 -> mature bananas have a peel with many black stripes/spots and a deep yellow colour, this way they will be tastiest.

Ok. Favourite foods of the gang. I know Pigsy Loves Watermelon but I gotta know for everyone else.
Oh man, this is a fun question! ✨ Sandy LOVES red beans on desserts! Mooncakes, buns, or just red beans. Simple things make this man happy. Tripitaka loves Chinese pears! Before taking a first bite he gives a small prayer for Buddha as a thanks for letting him enjoy something so delicious today. I don't blame him tho, Chinese pears are expensive in Finland but man...one of my favorite fruits on this planet! Wukong loves fruits and salty things but his favorite rice crust! Chinese people usually used a big wok to steam rice. After the rice is ready, there was always a layer of crunchy rice crust clinging to the wok. That's the stuff he likes even tho it's very simple! Give a little seasoning and make it salty and he loves it! Sophie has many things that she loves but when she started her journey she fell in love with Yumberries and Lychees! It was something she never tasted or even seen before until Wukong one day shared some of it with her one night. Where did he get them? We might never know but he definitely didn't pay for those.

Look i know your requests are closed for now. But whenever you can. Could i have fave foods, food preferences, and dislikes for mk characters?
Maybe the basic roster? Liu kang, kung lao, sonya, jax, kano, johnny cage, sub zero(s),scorpion, raiden, kitana, and shang tsung? Maybe a reptile thrown in there.
Ok this might be long but I'll try!
Mortal kombat characters and their food preferences.
Tumblr media
Liu kang:
He likes bold flavors, spices and savory dishes are his go to. He likes dry heat but not so much he can't taste anything. He also likes sweet fruits like peaches and mangoes. He likes mango flavored shaved ice
Kung lao:
He mostly eats vegetables, fresh and delicious with noodles is his go to. But he does rarely eat chicken (don't tell his white lotus masters) and on very special holidays he eats pork (again, don't tell his white lotus masters.) He adores soup dumplings and thats his favorite.
Sonya:
It might be typical, but she loves a nice juicy classic all American burger, fresh off the grill. Other than that she drinks a lot of coffee and prefers light and quick easy meals to get her through the day.
Jax:
The man is simple, he loves a good barbecue pulled pork. Anything high in protein that's also delicious. He also loves strawberry ice cream.
Kano:
Barbeque, beer, and mochi. Surprising to some, kano has a varied palette. While he can eat anything (had to at some points) he also knows whats delicious and whats mediocre at best.
Johnny cage:
The most well coordinated diet you expect from a well active celebrity. But Johnny prefers homemade and authentic food, which often he goes to any obscure family owned ethnic restaurant. His favorite is one noodle dish from a restuarant owned by a very old Chinese man who taught him how to make it, after Johnny practically begged on his knees to know.
Sub-zero/kuai liang:
Kuai is simple, rice and vegetables with beef. But his absolute favorite is ice cream, his eyes light up whenever he sees the delicious frozen treats.
Sub-zero/bi-han:
Bi-han has similar tastes to kuai. But prefers his meats to be burnt to a charcoal. Loves chocolate ice cream.
Scorpion/hanzo hasashi:
Hearty, warm, homemade dishes. Lots of fish, lots of rice. He likes spicy but prefers to be in the mood to fully enjoy it. Likes citrusy desserts.
Raiden:
He loves spice an abnormal amount. Giving him spicy chicken is the quickest way to earn his favor. He also loves milk too. Even his brother is unnerved by how much spicy food raiden can eat and not suffer tremendously, he's just built different. He likes lightly sweet desserts like marshmallows or cotton candy. Or dango.
Kitana:
Edenian dishes are as colorful as delicious and varied. Herbs and spices are used generously and most are vegetarian. Kitana's favorite is an edenian dish with an outworld goat meat marinated in a special edenian orange. Peaches do not exist in outworld but kitana loved the white peach liu kang once offered her. She longs for it's taste again.
Shang tsung:
He loves vegetables, fresh and well prepared. Noodles and broth must also be to his liking. There is one dish that will make him feel so content and at peace, it's a simple peasant dish from a long time ago in china. Shang tsung also loves fruits that are especially juicy and sweet, or tangy. Loves lychee and mango the most.
Bonus reptile/syzoth:
Saurian's diet consists of fish and special leafy greens no longer found in outworld as the plantlife went extinct (thanks shao kahn). But a similar dish is catfish and collared greens.

Lacquer box and cover, China, Ming dynasty, 16th century.
Note: Carved lacquer boxes such as this beautiful example were used in both China and Japan as containers for storing incense powder.[1] The design of lychees on a starburst ground occurs on similar boxes in jade and bronze. In all materials, both top and bottom sections of the boxes appear to be carved, an unusual occurrence in Chinese decorative art.
