Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie (2017)
In today's review, I bet my reputation, on my looks and my instinct. As I attempt a #positive review of the 2017 Netflix mystery film, Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie #JeffGarlin #NatashaLyonne #AmySedaris #LeahRemini #ChristineWoods #StevenWeber
We tend to think of Law Enforcement (when we think of them positively) as professionals who live, sleep, and breathe the case. Rarely does the human factor enter the equation, but what about the human souls that are impacted, especially when the crimes impact those around them? In 2017, Jeff Garlin took on a new character, a man who is willing to balance the law and his life, in a comedic fashion…

I didn't want to come back here but I'm curious about something. I've seen at least 3 people saying that ALW asked John Owen-Jones to do the 25th concert and he REFUSED!? Do you know anything about that? If it is true, it was the dumbest thing JOJ could have done. How do you turn down an once in a lifetime chance like that? Apparently he wanted to do Les Mis which he ended up not being cast for either. ALW worships sierra (which I will never understand why, she's extremely overrated) but implying he really wanted JOJ do you think he would have cast Gina Beck or Katie Hall with him?
Frankly, I have absolutely no idea what was said off the record for this casting. There's ever only been comments on the ones that DID get cast, and how they were cast. It seems ALW got to choose some, and CamMack got to choose some. I don't know if all links are still accessible, as this is copied from a post I did some 10 years ago, but anyhow:
Ramin Karimloo was invited by Cameron Mackintosh and Sierra Boggess by ALW: “I’m in heaven because I love the show and the character so much,” said Boggess, who was personally tapped by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber to star in the anniversary event“ Hadley Fraser was a noticeable Javert in Cameron’s Les Mis at the time, and also best buddy with Ramin, so I’m guessing the way was short from there. Kiera Duffy was discovered through a production of Candide and asked to audition through video. They wanted a legit opera singer for the part, and she was offered the part after a video audition:
“Cameron Mackintosh’s office contacted my management, who in turn contacted me, in early August asking if I might be interested in the project. (...) I received an email from Mackintosh’s office saying they were very impressed by my dedication and chutzpah, and I got offered the role. What a whirlwind! I couldn’t believe it!"
Fate wanted it that she had to bow out some days before the concerts due to voice issues, making current West End Carlotta Wendy Ferguson take over. But Duffy was the original casting chouce. Wynne Evans was noticed in the popular “Go Compare” commercials in the UK, where he played an Italian tenor. To mention some.
I always assumed they WANTED to feature Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess along with Liz Robertson to keep the link to Love Never Dies. All three came directly from the just-closed West End production of LND. Note too how Hadley Fraser's Raoul was more in the vein of LND than a classic Hal Prince Raoul, pushing the aggressive and colder side of Raoul.
Another aspect is that rehearsals for RAH took place when the original production was performing as usual at Her Majesty's Theatre, and I don't think we should forget that John Owen-Jones was principal Phantom there. It would of course be possible to have someone fill in for him while he did RAH, just they they did for Ramin when he rehearsed for LND. In this it should also be mentioned that Barry James (Firmin) did both Her Majesty's Theatre and RAH, and so did Wendy Ferguson (Carlotta) if more as an emergency cover. But I suspect JOJ's heart was more with the original than then hybrid version at RAH. Just a personal guess, however.
All in all, JOJ is the only person who could properly answer this question, and if he has not said anything all speculations are just that - speculations. I also think I heard he was standby Phantom for the RAH concerts, in case Ramin Karimloo got sick or injured? At least I heard back in the days that the West End principals was functioning as standbys for RAH, and they were also present in cameo roles during the show.
Another thing... I frankly love Sierra Boggess as Christine. Even if the SoMe responsibles has gone utterly bananas every time she played the role (and it drove me nuts), and even if I can't stand all the ones telling me SIERRA IS THE BEST CHRISTINE EVER... I love her in the role. Beautiful voice, sympathetic portrayal, good dancer, looking like a million dollar - she is a gorgeous Christine. No more, no less.
What I do agree with, however, is that people would have said "...IS THE BEST CHRISTINE EVER" about probably anyone starring as Christine in the RAH concert, as long as they sung well and looked good. If Gina Beck was featured she would be a sensation. Ditto for Katie Hall. They would simply be the most available Christine out there for the majority, and thus getting a big fanbase.

Festivids Rec List, But Make It Horny (part 2)
This is part two of my horny festivids rec list I felt compelled to make for some reason. You can find part 1 here.
8. Alone With You Inside My Mind (Doctor Sleep) Unlike the Bound vids and Janelle Monáe vids, I had to put this one very far from the other Rebecca Ferguson thirst vid on accounts of that one being about a person being hot and this one being about a child-eating monster being hot. Yes, this is a (freaking hysterical) crack vid about Rose the Hat saying “hi there” a bunch, but also it’s legitimately spooky and sexy at the same time, which is quite a feat. Anyway this one is at #8 because no matter how normal she looks, this is still a monster-fucker vid. And that is good. 7. Put on a Show (Wheel of Time) Another vid where I very much do not know what’s going on, but the femdom energy here is off the charts. There’s choking, there’s tying boys up while you sit in a throne and look down on them, there’s blowing things up with magic, and there’s a hell of a lot of whoever this lady is walking around looking imperious and hot. Whatever these folks have going on, it’s more than enough to land them in the kinkier half of this list.    6. She’s a Lady & I’m Gonna Make You Love Me (Christine) Alright so one could certainly argue that these vids aren’t actually horny, and that’s fair. But I won’t beat around the bush: the fact of the matter is whether or not we as viewers are horny for her, Arnie wants to fuck his serial killer car. As far as monster-fucking Stephen King vids of this year go, while these may be a less sexy vid than the Rose one, the whole “wanting to fuck a car” thing definitely pushes it higher up on the kinky, bizarre, and fucked up scales than Alone With You Inside My Mind. 5. Ángel (Tár) Alright so this one is a toughie. It’s a beautiful character study, it’s dark and intense and creepy, it’s at times honestly quite sexy, and it’s also about a sexual predator. So. Finding parts of the vid hot is more than a little uncomfortable. Obviously themes of sex pervade the vid, though it’s unclear to me whether describing it as a “horny vid” is totally fair. This absolutely stunning vid lands the #5 spot on pure fucked-upness. 4. Dream Girl Evil (Last Night in Soho) Speaking of fucked up vids with non-con elements that aren’t necessarily supposed to be sexy so much as dealing with themes of sexuality, here’s a really cool Last Night in Soho vid! Look, this vid is listed as M/F and Gen, and I’m not here to question the vidder’s intent. But also, friends, let’s be real: there is a weird psychosexual undercurrent to Ellie’s obsession with Sandie. And this is really heightened by the sexy song that includes the lyrics “did mommy make you mad?” in a real sultry voice. Anyway, suddenly finding yourself inside someone else’s body and becoming obsessed with them is inherently homoerotic….. SPEAKING OF WHICH… 3. Anymore (Face/Off) …FACE/OFF!!! I can see people watching this vid and not thinking it’s that horny…. But I, the vid recipient and an intellectual, know otherwise. Listen, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: suddenly finding yourself inside someone else’s body and becoming obsessed with them is inherently homoerotic! And also fucked up and bizarre! God this vid has so much going on. There’s face swapping. There’s face licking (biting?). There’s shoot offs. There’s doves. It’s tagged “Sean Archer/Castor Troy” and also “enemies to enemies. ” What a delight. 2. Blood in the Cut (Taskmaster RPF) This is a vid about what a little freak Little Alex Horne is and honestly that is a genre of content I literally always want more of. There’s blood, wax, jealousy, humiliation, bondage – all the things that make Taskmaster great. Very horny. Very weird. Very kinky. It’s almost hard to imagine anyone beating Alex Horne for the freakiest freak of festivids award…….. 1. Body (David Cronenberg) …..Except that someone made me a fucking David Cronenberg vid!!!!!!! I’m not even gonna say more on this one, I’ll just leave you with the tags: “body horror, but make it hot”
Anyway, my three gifts are flawless and I’m also obviously very here for all the other thirsty content this festivids as well. I might be back with an actual rec list at some point. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk.

Am burning This after I finish. Since both crystal and gun are asleep I guess I have no one else to complain to but this Notebook. That old man had many of those black boring notebooks , I didn't think stealing one of them will come in handy but here we are. This may sound chessy but i think i like someone? Not alot alot just a little bit, and its weird because it really haven't been that long since I met her .
We first met when she gave me my golf ball back after i accidentally hit her with it , That was embarrassing , She looked really beautiful. I Found out what school she goes to, She also look really pretty in her social media , but unfortunately she didn't reveal her real name there. I thought I will meet her again today but She didn't show up , She definitely have a boyfriend. Its not like there is anything special about her but for Some reason I can't Stop thinking about her. The yellow jacket she wears to school really fit her, no wonder she have alot of friends .
She almost caught me staring at her When I entered the cafe She always goes to . Her friends are really annoying, Everytime I try talking to her they show up, I would get rid of them if I want to But I won't just for her . I know following her may make me look like a creep but I swear am not, am just looking out for her .
I hope I will meet her again tomorrow, she will probably be in that cafe, I will be there first thing in the morning to not miss Her, her face always seems to brighten up my day. This is getting too cheesy. I have to go sleep now if am going to meet her tomorrow morning. Perhaps am going to keep this book for a little before burning it

Musical Ask: Phantom of the Opera
MY BABY! MY LOVE!!! 😭😍 (I'd insert a crying heart eyes emoji if I had it)
Favorite song God there's so many to choose from 😩 But I'm gonna pick a few -- The Music Of The Night, Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, Down Once More 😍
Favorite character Raoul 👀 He may be an insolent boy and a slave of fashion -- but he never kidnapped Christine. I also love Madame Giry 🥰
Favorite pairing Raoul and Christine 🥰
Favorite costume Hannibal dress, Masquerade dress, Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again dress, Erik's skeleton outfit, Raoul's whole look when he comes to save Christine (🥵) (I'll include a picture at the end)
Favorite actor/actress in it THERE ARE SO MANY!! Ramin Karimloo, Sierra Boggess, Hadley Fraser, Earl Carpenter, John Owen Jones, Scott Davies, Emmi Christensson, Liam Tamne, Killian Donnelly,
Least favorite character Carlotta and Piangi -- and unpopular opinion, but Meg Giry (I'm sorry)
Least favorite song Second half of Wandering Child / Bravo Bravo ... Gives me a headache every time 😅
Least favorite actor/actress in it THE ENTIRE 2004 movie cast! Don't get me wrong ... I love the actors, but I hate them in the movie!
If I've seen it live or not I HAVE! I saw it in London and it was amazing, not to mention it was lead by three understudies/alternates! (Erik/the Phantom, Christine and Raoul's understudies/alternates were on) 😍
Dream role (if I could actually sing) LORD! If I had the pipes for it I'd go for Christine 😅
A headcanon Simple -- Love Never Dies never happened (I'm sorry -- but it was a mess 😅 I do love Til I Hear You Sing, Love Never Dies, and Beneath The Moonless Sky)
Dream casting Oh dear, where do I start -- I gotta shorten it down to one or two per character 😅 Christine - Celinde Schoenmaker or Lucy St. Louis (they've played the role previously, but I've not gotten to see them) Erik/the Phantom - I'll take anyone who's previously played him on stage (No, not you Gerard Butler) ❤️ but maybe Ramin Karimloo ❤️ or Killian Donnelly ❤️ Raoul - HADLEY FRASER! But same as with the Phantom -- anyone who's played him on stage ❤️ Or Bradley Jaden, in Italy! 😍 Madame Giry - Liz Robertson from the 25th Anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall 😍 Or Emma Thompson ❤️ Meg Giry - Holly-Anne Hull, or Katie Hall ❤️ Monsieur Gilles André - Philip Griffiths (he either has to play André or Reyer 😅) Monsieur Richard Firmin - Scott Davies (My Phantom from when I saw the show) Carlotta Guidicelli - Honestly, Wendy Ferguson (25th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall) Ubaldo Piangi - Wynne Evans (25th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall)
Tumblr media
(in the production I saw it was no vest, but suspenders, and I think the shirt was a little ripped (and more open to show his chest) but I cannot post about the Phantom of the Opera and not talk about my boy Hadley! 😅😍
Want to get my thoughts on a musical? Send it my way ❤️

✅My current aesthetic is me does 90s does 60s but the 90s. They're doing the 60s but they are mostly doing the 90s. My current aesthetic is Sloan Coax Me music video 1994 but not actually the Clothes they are wearing but the vibes of the Clothes and the vibes of the Song. I would never wear what They are wearing. Which I know doesn't tell you anything but understand what I am going for I have no proof of I Believe I am the first to Do it. I think Sloan Look Good Here but I am doing Sloan 90s does 60s but through a Beat Happening lense. I am doing it as I approach the band from a Butterfly Rock Perspective. It is the same general vibe, but I am baby Teeifying it. I am doing it with subtle Lisa Frank flare. But it is all so oversized longsleeve nonetheless. Of Course, the thrift store only provides so much of what I am Looking for. It all depends on what i have to work with. And of course, some looks are more Twee than others.🤩🤟
✅Take for example my Orange cardigan with the Blue and Yellow checkered skirt and tulip pattern. This is what Jay Ferguson would wear if he were a member of early 80s Tweepunk band Dolly Mixture. This is the perfect look to wear to a Super Friendz concert in 1997 because the Super Friendz are so Swangin Sixties. I wore this look when I worked at Goodwill and this woman said that that was exactly how they dressed in the Sixties. This is Christine by Stephen King the novel. 🚗💖
✅However, I am even more in favor of my longsleeve Pink turtleneck with the baby tank with the Pink and Orange butterfly in the middle and lettuce hem effect layered over top, with my long dark-wash denim skirt, Pink liz claiborne belt, and Silver daisy chain hanging on one side. This look is Revolutionary because I don't even know what to tell you. I take my Inspiration from lots of places. I guess it is why I dropped the Lisa Frank label earlier. But I imagine that if I were Chris Murphy's girlfriend in the 90s I would get him into wearing more brightly colored Ringer Tees that fit him small like a baby tee. He Would look kind of like Kelso from That 70s Show but also a Depop girlie. And we would look nice together, me in that outfit.🦋💖
✅Overall, though the Default is the 90s light washed Bill Blass Easy Fit jeans with the distressed hem at the bottom underneath my oversized Matthew Sweet "100% Fun" lite brite t shirt and yes the daisy chain belt on the side for this look as well. Matthew Sweet is not Sloan but of course if I knew Sloan in the 90s I would have Self-Consciousness due to having Limited experience online to learn about Self-Consciousness and how to combat it and I would be too scared to wear Sloan merch in front of Sloan so I would wear other power pop merch. Today I wore this look with a Black cardigan because it was cold, but I took the Black cardigan off so that this guy who sits behind me in Class could read the Matthew Sweet song titles because it Doesn't matter if he Doesn't know who he is, it makes me feel cool. I will wear these thrifted Doc knock offs until my sweat Wears off every part of the Inside. I am so power pop vibe. I am...in so many ways am Sloan Coax Me music video 1994🎵🤟

Dancin"Not The Same Zeal as Original.Robert Massimi. When I originally saw "Dancin' back in 1980, it had Bob Fosse's signature on it. The show would play over four years on Broadway in two different theaters. In the recent revival, "Dancin'' is good, but not great. Under the choreography of Christine Colby Jacques (she was in the original cast of Dancin'), it lacks the pizzaz and direction to take it to a great level.  The show's first number "prologue" was encouraging in that it moved fast, was snappy and upbeat. The evening's second number "Mr. Bojangles" was stale and flat.It seemed that the whole evening went this way; one good number followed by a dull one. The only time the show had two consistent numbers was at the close of the first act with "Dancin' Man" and at the start of the second act with "Sing, Sing, Sing". Under Wayne Cilento's direction/musical staging, the cast was out of sync at times; dancers made mistakes in the ensemble dancing. The dialogue was never moving and the acting was average at best.Under Fosse, the show popped and was tight and vibrant. With the exception of a few standouts (Peter John Chursin, Karli Dinardo, Mattie Love, Tony d'Alelio and Neka Zang) the dancers were uninspiring; some do not even belong on a Broadway stage and as such, they brought down the show to average. Some of the strong points to the performance were the costume design by Reid Bartelme and Harriet Jung, and the lighting design by David Grill. The costumes were deft and some of the best I have seen this theater season. In the lighting we had a range that supported the show nicely, as it was crisp and on point. "Dancin '' ' will appeal to the modern dance lover. It will even appeal to an audience that loves dance in all forms. It just wasn't up to the standards of the great Bob Fosse. For those who revelled in its originality, today's "Dancin' " just can't cut the muster of yesteryear. -- Robert Massimi.CEO., Gimme Shelter Productions,LLCwww.gimmeshelterproductionsllc.com|NY, Jesse Ferguson, Sweeney todd, Hamilton, Funny Girl, Nathan Lane, CNN, www.nypost.com; swmnimbus.org, Lion King, Wabc Radio, Dramatists Guild, Dancin, Bob Fosse.
