Phantom Acting Choices That Live in My Head Rent Free (Part 2)
The way Hugh Panaro says "sing for me" during the title song. Extra emphasis on the ME, like this man knows Christine doesn't sing for anyone else like this--especially not that insolent boy.
Tim Martin Gleason's emotionally regulating self-hug.
David Shannon plays the Phantom like his skull exposure is actually vulnerable/causes him chronic pain.
Earl Carpenter directs tf out of Christine's voice during the title song in his '06 run. Gospel choir director energy, but make it sex.
Phantoms kneeling during the Don Juan AIAOY reprise. (Looking at you David Thaxton and Hugh P.)
Every acting decision Gina Beck makes in the final lair.
There's a boot (I think 1995?) where Davis Gaines pauses after he says "this is the choice" and he actually realizes he's gone off the deep end and "this is the point of no return" fr.
Michael Nicholson's deranged laugh turned sob. So sad, so disturbed.
Gary Mauer says like 4-5 ily's in the final lair like he can't stop now that he's uttered it aloud. And the more the merrier imo lol.

That’s Not Funny, David!, by David Shannon, (March 2025, Orchard Books), $18.99, ISBN: 9781546123187 Ages 3-7 That mischievous preschooler, David, is back and he’s still in trouble! Phantom hands during the kiss gifset. Left to right:
Tim Martin Gleason & Rebecca Pitcher - US Tour '05
Davis Gaines & Marie Danvers - Los Angeles '98
Ian Jon Bourg & Rebecca Pitcher - US Tour '99
Ben Crawford & Emilie Kouatchou - Broadway '22
David Shannon & Gina Beck - West End '10
Cris Groenendaal & Rebecca Luker - Broadway '89
Earl Carpenter & Katie Knight-Adams - West End '06
Josh Piterman & Kelly Mathieson - West End '19
Side note: I so love Cris Groenendaal and Ian Jon Bourg's final lair kisses despite the old boot quality. And placing Carpenter and Piterman next to each other makes me realize how reminiscent Piterman was of Carpenter.

ENTRY 316
I recently got back in touch with my former art teacher. It's been years. I met her in elementary school, and I'm 41 years old now.
I was so thankful for the chance to tell her what a positive impact she made on my life. A lot of people already tend to ask, "Elementary? Not high school or college?" Yes, elementary school because it was one of the only times a teacher actually liked me. As a kiddo with undiagnosed ADHD, I annoyed the hell outta my teachers. I never meant to, I wasn't bad, I just had some symptoms that weren't being treated.
This art class was different though. She instilled the love of art in me. She took time with me, showed me things two or three times if she had to. She didn't seem bothered by me at all. She even smiled at me! And she made us dried fruit right there in the classroom all the time. I still think of her when I pick up a bag of dried mangoes.
She shared stories in class about not only art history, but of being Native American and having a brother that's a Vietnam War veteran. Her class was about ART and LIFE, I'll never forget it. It was a completely different world in her classroom, an escape I desperately needed.
Sometimes she read stories to us in class if they were creative enough, and especially if they could accompany an art assignment in some way. One story stuck with me through the years, to the point where I don't even remember the rest of that day, only the story she read to us. It was one of the first things I asked about when I made contact.
It's a story about seeing the beauty within, within nature and the soul. I loved it because a powerful being and his sister saw the beauty in someone despite her appearance. This touched my heart when I was little because I wanted friends but wasn't liked. I wanted to share things with others, spend time, never really happened though. I was bullied at school and then I went home to an abusive environment. I had no one.
The girl in the story though, she got a happy ending and I loved this story so much, I was excited to ask about it in middle-age. I included a screenshot of the convo to show how I acted like a two year old. lol
I just wanted this book in my library and more than ever, I wanted to tell Miss Curtis how much she meant to me and what positive impact she made on my life. Both wishes were granted. I have the book and told her how amazing she is. Her kindness and creativity was everything. I'm glad I got to tell her that. More thoughts later.

Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas (2014)
In today's review, I find new meanings to traditional holiday celebrations, inside a car with a T.V. star. As I attempt a #positive review of the 2014 faith-based comedy documentary lecture film, Saving Christmas #KirkCameron #DarrenDoane
The holiday season can be a wondrous time, even if you celebrate religiously or not. The commercial impact can somewhat be seen as a dampener for those who seek out the more wholesome, and spiritual aspects of the season. In 2014, former sitcom star, Kirk Cameron, teamed up with Darren Doane in a car, on a mission to Saving Christmas. T.V. Star, Kirk Cameron, leads the charge in this film! It…

Hello OperaFanToMet
Do you have any photos of David Shannon as the phantom.
But not the Catherine Ashmore ones?
Just of him in costume?
Many thanks
I don't know when I became OperaFanToMet (my nick means "The Phantom of the Opera" in Norwegian), but I'll take it...
There aren't a whole lot of non-stage photos of David Shannon as the Phantom. He was beautifully photographed by Catherine Ashmore, but he played the role for one short year and not a lot of backstage photos surfaced. Partly because it was in the infant years of social media, partly because they were still a bit reluctant to share backstage stuff in 2009.
So what I have is him and Gina Beck goofing around:
Post-performance photo with Gina Beck and Simon Bailey:

Curtain call with Rachel Barrell:

And him documenting the use of contact lense:

That's about it.
