:The Rolling Stones - Ruby Tuesday
Top 30 Countdown Song #23: Ruby Tuesday
Where to start..? Ruby Tuesday is actually The “B” side to “Let’s Spend The Night Together”
The song was written by Keith Richards alone. It is about a girlfriend of Keith’s named Linda who left him and ran off with Jimi Hendrix. Jimi would return the favor and leave her heartbroken .
“Don’t question why she needs to be so free.”“She’ll tell you it’s the only way to be.”
“She just can’t be chained to a life where nothings gained and nothings lost at such a cost.”
Few more tidbits. This is the infamous Ed Sullivan Live performance where they were told to change the words of Lets spend the night together to “Let’s spend some time together”.
Keith is surprisingly playing the piano here
Kudos to Brian Jones rocking a grammar school recorder.
Enjoy.
